After reading articles and videos about Johan Cruyff, he became my most favorite football player ever.
I remember some people say that Cruyff wasn't GOAT material since he never won a World Cup like Pele and Maradona. But he achieved something greater: he changed the game forever.
Everytime I play PES Club Manager on my phone, I always use the 4-3-3 or the 3-4-3 Cruyff Diamond formation and with that, I grew my love of Total Football.

When you put everything together in football, in my opinion Cruijff is the person who had the most influence on the game of football. As a player he was brilliant. As a trainer a genius. And as a human being, pure, couregous and he had always an eye for others. This made him so incredibly special. You can never rate players, because everybody sees things differently (we're humans after all). But personally I would rate the 4 best players ever in random order here: Maradona, Pelé, Messi and Cruijff. To me (I admit I'm Dutch whahaha), Cruijff is the Rembrandt of the 20th century. We as Dutch people should be sooo thankful, that we had this genius among us. Johan...I love you forever, our number 14.

What is never said is that the Total football way of changing positions was meant for permanent attack like a carousel out which players defenders alike moved into the attackin likes. Oppononts wereld relentlessly put under pressure with and without the ball of course and were dazzled by the constant popping up of players in various different positions. Teams in the end crumbled. Cruyff was not only a genius playmaker, technician and striker he was the most wanderous player of them all. A sort of destroyer looking for opportunity to be dangerous. Not only shifting postions in the lengte but also laterally from left to right. He had fantastic acceleration and tempo changes. Ajax and cruyff was beautiful football because of talentvand trainig but also they were predators strangling the opponent if you Will. Cruyff was unpredictable and dangerous. Innovative. That why he was great to watch. Bewildering technique and ball control, vision, speed and this unpredictabilty.

He probably wasn't, but he did it on the biggest stage. Like that penalty/pass. He said he'd seen that done in a Dutch lower league game and he wanted to do that with Ajax.

Yet when Valverde, who played under Cruyff, played anyone the least bit "out of position", the toxic online fake fans would shriek in horror, "he's ruining players, he doesn't have Barca DNA!" And when the new coach came in and started playing people all around, with midfielders often furthest upfield, Busquets behind the back line defending his own goal line, LB assisting RB for a goal, those same phonies are suddenly silent about what constitutes "Barca style". Hell, when Messi fed a beautiful pass over the top to Frenkie De Jong who scored, the Ajax coach whined like a biatch that he shouldn't be playing that far forward.
