I just got an idea for Baku-gear for Bakugan Melee, use what the show (Reboot) does “Baku-gear only happens when your Bakugan are in trouble” you can play Baku-gear when you B-power is low or your Baku-cores aren’t powerful enough. You can have at least 3 types of Baku-gear and attach to any Bakugan if you have that attribute.
I'd say Bakugan in New Vestroia had the perfect amount of depth. It gave us Battlegear with unique abilities, Bakugan Traps with their own ability cards, spinning Bakugan, a die throwing Bakugan, combining Bakugan, etc.
It’s at CMBasher7, and is called Bakugan Dragon Brawlers in which I basically write the episodes of Bakugan and add Bakugan of my own creation and is somewhat a HTTYD adaptation in a way. I’ve already made 2 Bakugan’s based on the Nuckelavee and Frankenstein’s monster.
Part of the fun was that when you landed on a gate card, you didn't know what was gonna happen. Were you gonna land on that alpha hydranoid character card, or a mind ghost. It made playing a bit more defensive the better option, but the daring had actual stakes
Ideas: froststrike: opponent cannot use bakucores that turn (or a certain number of the bakucores are removed from his bakugan. Shadowstrike: you can use that certain number of used bakucores in the battle (only that turn) Doublestrike: double the effects, only b-power, and/ or the damage, of the bakucores Damage (power, you know, that little fist):The bakugan with the highest damage can choose to move a bakugan if it lands on the same gatecard on a gatecard connected to that one The hexagons on gate-cards: as long as gatecards form perfect hexagon shapes with their art (the drawing on the back) that gate-card positioning is legal. Bakugear: if a bakucore you own has a bakugear symbol on it, you can utilize a bakugear in the turn you play that core. (!BONUS!)Half-set: to implement the use of bakucores, maybe you would be allowes to place them, as long as they fit the matrix-pattern (they don't have sides that touch gatecards at points where there is an incomplete hexagon, or it formes a different shape than a hexagon. Exception: if the damage would allow you to move a bakugan on that certain gate-card on a gatecard where you just knocked an enemy bakugan on, you are not allowed to do that. Battles when bakugan land on bakucores: RULE 1: You are not allowed to stand on a bakucore you put that turn on the field RULE 2: If a bakucore your bakugan just landed on *WAS TOUCHING* (when it was positioned) a bakugan where there is another bakugan already, the following things can happen: 1) If the bakugan are both yours, that counts as a double-stand, and both, the gate-card, and the bakucore go in your used pile 2)If one of the bakugan is not yours, a battle engages, the core boost being applied only to the bakugan that has landed on it, the one on the gate-card being applied, also, only to the bakugan that has landed on the gate-card. Those are my suggestions, I hope I could help🤗!
What about Shadowstrike: "You may use a used Bakucore for this battle. After it is removed from the game." Basically making it that you can reuse a core, but only once a piece if you have three Shadowstrikes.
That what how meme was the moment where I realized this was more than a channel focused on a kid's game. It has personality and comedy for the chad man that grew up with the older bakugan. You rock, dude!
Please make a video of you guys actually playing this. I only own 3 bakugan from the new series but only for collection. Im getting so many bakutech/brawler vibes from this and Im living for it!
bruh your production quality is insane, haven't bought a bakugan in like 10 years and I never was really deep into it but your videos are just so damn nice to watch
I commented on a previous video that I had no interest in the TCG, but your format idea is genuinely compelling. I'd absolutely love to see it get off the ground and become more popular.
Honestly, I think Melee could work with using older series Bakugan from Battle Brawlers through Bakutech (just replace Subterra with Aurelius). That way the variety is much larger, and more of the skill from Bakutech or the other options could come into play.
bakugan melee reminds me of when i was very young and i would sit and watch bakugan for hours like the double stand critical and how they stay on the gate card i love the idea jett❤
As someone who had lost all connection with Bakugan since the first anine ended I really enjoy and appreciate these videos you make Jett, keep up the good work!
I really like this, particularly your melee version. The pro with the 40 card deck can be fun but I'm not invested enough to put a ton of money into buying cards and a ton of time into figuring out the best arrangement of my many many cards. It's complicated and with how fast new cards come out you have to stay pretty up to date on the meta. The legacy game was nice and simple, easy to explain to my friends when I was little (until gear and traps which was when I gave up; again, too complicated for me). Your melee version is pretty simple and easy to get, there's not a ton of card strategy behind it. Plus it's like battle bots but Bakugan. And the throwing the cores onto ultras is so cool, I love mimicking the show like that!! I've never been a card game person, I just haven't grown up that way, respect for those who are though. The fun of Bakugan for me was the neat engineering of how they folded up, which was also a toy I could play with by myself (I don't have siblings). This is why it beat Pokémon for me because there was something physical that did something interesting, not just a plushie or an action figure that waves its paw--it was so much more. Thanks for the video and the great game ideas!
I dont know if anyone mentioned this but an idea for double strike frost and shadow could be this. Double lets you gain gate bonus twice. Frost makes your opponet receive a negative instead of a plus and shadow strike would make it so neither player gains bonus from the card
They will be! I'll have a link to the doccument in a pinned comment soon, and there will be a room for discussion on PegatrixMatrix! discord.com/invite/W3ujCfK
Bakugan Melee just reminded me of my childhood memories of the original series and game, and also dan and shun. all we are missing if anyone remembers it, the doom card.
The best thing i like about the videogame is how you have a chance to win even if your bakugan has very low point and even if you stand on your opponent gate card ... The way it used to work is with the points you collect around the map and with the mini games after the battle starts ... The ridiculous thing now is how you get 700 points on your gate card ... And your opponent get -200 ... This will make your opponent running away from standing on your gate card ... Cuz that's free points for you ... And we can all agree that the battle is the best part ... Any ways ... Throwing dice could be a nice way for extra points (as a mini game at the start of battle) ... And maybe puting something like the baku cores in random places so if you pass by them ... U get the effect (like the collecting in the videogame) ... That aside ... Love your videos
Man this video is months old but I found out that Bakugan still exists literally yesterday and I've fallen down the rabbit hole. Once corona calms down I'm planning to get together with some pals and having a Bakugan tournament to the death (either being knocked out by losing your Bakugan a la the original show or by alcohol poisoning) and I think Melee is going to be the ruleset to use. Thanks for putting this together!
For the sake of including Legacy Bakugan, Subterra should be treated as Aurelus and vice versa. In general, would love the ability to include older legacy Bakugan. Such as rocking Komba's deck.
This sounds so fun! this video is the closest that has come to making me run out and buy some bakugan and gate cards. Simple but fun gameplay with enough depth to keep things interesting. Man, this is great :)
I haven’t play but from theory crafting and listening to you explain the inns and outs of Bakugon melee i’ve come up with some suggestions that might help, 1. When adding a baku core, The B Power underneath them should be hidden from the opponent until both players have declared to stop adding core for that battle, then you flip them over and add the boost . That way you might be able to trick the opponent into using their most powerful core when they never need to. And sure when it comes to extremely high competitive Teenage and adult players don’t know the maximum power of each type of core rendering this system kind of obsolete, but for children (The primary target) this And an extra layer of strategy, and plus since most likely they won’t have the maximum power for each type of core this gives them a use for the weaker ones not making them completely worthless, as bluff fodder 2. How to implement Baku gear: like before in the legacy series you can have two of any Baku gear, since there is no icon of baku gear The only time you can deploy a Baku gear when you land on an enemy gate card (taking a page from double strike) you can attach any baku gear to any Bakugan regardless of faction, but only one baku gear for Bakugan per battle, in battle when you deploy Baku gear you get your bass attribute Power up along with The attribute of your baku gear, almost like fusions but you have more control over it. Which is why I thought making it only applicable on enemy gate cards was a fair trade off. Also once their use they never come back until you start a new game Of course another way I thought of implementing them would be make them playable whenever you land on any card, With still being only allowed to use one, and still getting the boost of the base attribute and the gears attribute, Along with only being allowed to use them once a game, But whenever you do it you are not allowed to play Cors in that battle. This open some other strategical elements. For one you can attempt to bait out your opponent into playing the cores to confirm the win In the early game. Leaving them with nothing in the later half forcing them to rely on double stands or stays , critical knockout. afterthoughts: putting these down here because I just thought of them after writing all of that, I feel like fusions and baku gear should not be allowed in the same deck for obvious reasons. Being allowed to access three different attribute boost is a bit absurd. Also for timing he would place the gear at the beginning of the battle before other players added cores
Whenever my friends ask me to teach them Bakugan I always start with Bakugan Melee because of how fun and simple it is. I was teaching a friend how to play 2 days ago and we had 4 cards on the field, my friend had a Bakugan on Gate Card next to one I had a Bakugan on. I rolled my next Bakugan trying to get a Critical K.O but instead I knock her Bakugan into a battle with the one I had on the field prior to my roll. It eventually ended in me winning thanks to Bakucores
THANK YOU for coming with up with a fun way to play this game. My son (6 yo) can have a blast just rolling the bakugan but I am bored out of my mind. This helps!
What about for Baku cores after you use them you have to wait a certain number of turns before you can use them again. This is called the recharge fase in which Baku cores can't be used. Baku gear can work like this where you can only activate Baku gear if you put a Baku core with the Baku gear icon on a Bakugan then using your choice of a Baku gear ability card you can place the card next to the gate card and if activate Baku gear. If you chose to activate Baku gear then your bank an gets 2 times the boost on the Baku core. For example say the Baku core say +200 B if you were to activate Baku gear you would get +400 B instead how ever after Baku gear is used it has to go into the recharge pile.
I was talking about this with a friend of mine recently, we talked about the Action cards and a way of implementing them. He said about trying it with Action cards with an energy cost total of 12 or less and I would love to try that too! I'm still thinking on how to use gear and Geogan and stuff but yeah!
If I were a gam designer I would have cores that have the bakugear symbol on them allow the player to attach a bakugear onto the bakugan that the core is being played on
My favorite part of Bakugan Melee is that it's really easy to take your Battle Brawlers/Bakutech Bakugan and play them alongside your Battle Planet Bakugan, it really is a perfect fusion of all of the Bakugan formats. Even if that's a slight bend of one of the rules, it makes it easier for me to play with my younger siblings.
Holee sh- those rules make it all worth it! You really used the best attributes of the game and captured throwing, positioning and battling really well I might use these rules if I ever play this in a game store 👀
Shadowstrike: you can't lose B-power on a negative bonus, negative bonuses are reversed into positive ones Froststrike: Your opponent doesn't gain their bonus if they have a higher B-power than you, and they cannot fuse if they have a higher B-power than you Doublestrike: You get double the bonus if you have a lower B-power than your opponent, and if you fuse, you get double of the higher bonus, but again, only of you have the lower B-power Damage is used as a tiebreaker if both B-powers are tied, if damage ties, both bakugan are retracted and the card is returned to the field I hope this works and isn't too confusing, but cool vid nonetheless!
Honestly I was never interested in the anime, thought it was dumb as hell. Out of boredom one day and a bit of curiosity I try the PS2 game to learn what the hell the rules even were. Had a blast and honestly found the tabletop game idea extremely fun. It surprise me that the company who made the tabletop game didn't even know their own rules. They honestly should do what you guys did and just be inspired by the PS2 game and other sources if they were that clueless.
the bakugan melee idea is amazing, great work. my sugestion to avoid fusion spam: limit fusion: only one fusio bakugan per player, additionally fusions only activate on apropriate cards if your opponent already has 2 gate cards won, that way it could feel as if fusions are a last chance and could turn the game around for more tense gameplay
I think what would be cool for bakugan melee, is counting B-Power as the Defense Stat and counting Damage as the Attack Stat. The bakugan that gets onto a gatecard first has to use the B-Power and the Bakugan that attacks, uses the Damage. I think it would be very fun. :)
I think damage might work as b power as well but At the hundreds an example 5damage=500b power and if it is - damage is Also plus evrery time and if you have a core that says +500b and -1 damage it’s 500b + 100 b
Man, i'd love to have my own 40 card deck, but Spinmaster distribution is AWFUL. I'd say Bakugan in New Vestroia had the perfect amount of depth. It gave us Battlegear with unique abilities, Bakugan Traps with their own ability cards, spinning Bakugan, a die throwing Bakugan, combining Bakugan, etc.
Hey Jett, I’m making a Bakugan fanfic that includes some of Melee’s rule. Like the Baku-Cores and Gate Cards
Aw cool!
Dude, I'd love to read that, shoot that shit over
It’s at CMBasher7, and is called Bakugan Dragon Brawlers in which I basically write the episodes of Bakugan and add Bakugan of my own creation and is somewhat a HTTYD adaptation in a way. I’ve already made 2 Bakugan’s based on the Nuckelavee and Frankenstein’s monster.
I want Bakugan Melee to be an actual thing! I takes all the good things from the legacy, bakutech and combines it into one. Great idea Jett!
Part of the fun was that when you landed on a gate card, you didn't know what was gonna happen. Were you gonna land on that alpha hydranoid character card, or a mind ghost. It made playing a bit more defensive the better option, but the daring had actual stakes
Ideas:
froststrike: opponent cannot use bakucores that turn (or a certain number of the bakucores are removed from his bakugan.
Shadowstrike: you can use that certain number of used bakucores in the battle (only that turn)
Doublestrike: double the effects, only b-power, and/ or the damage, of the bakucores
Damage (power, you know, that little fist):The bakugan with the highest damage can choose to move a bakugan if it lands on the same gatecard on a gatecard connected to that one
The hexagons on gate-cards: as long as gatecards form perfect hexagon shapes with their art (the drawing on the back) that gate-card positioning is legal.
Battles when bakugan land on bakucores:
RULE 1: You are not allowed to stand on a bakucore you put that turn on the field
RULE 2: If a bakucore your bakugan just landed on *WAS TOUCHING* (when it was positioned) a bakugan where there is another bakugan already, the following things can happen:
1) If the bakugan are both yours, that counts as a double-stand, and both, the gate-card, and the bakucore go in your used pile
2)If one of the bakugan is not yours, a battle engages, the core boost being applied only to the bakugan that has landed on it, the one on the gate-card being applied, also, only to the bakugan that has landed on the gate-card.
Those are my suggestions, I hope I could help🤗!
What about
Shadowstrike: "You may use a used Bakucore for this battle. After it is removed from the game." Basically making it that you can reuse a core, but only once a piece if you have three Shadowstrikes.
I've never played, let alone owned a single Bakugan, but this sounds a heck of a lot more fun that the rules the company have put forth
Wow! Bakugan melee is such a great idea. Its amazing that you guys came up with this idea
bruh your production quality is insane, haven't bought a bakugan in like 10 years and I never was really deep into it but your videos are just so damn nice to watch
THIS is how bakugan should be played, they should put this in the rulebook
bakugan melee reminds me of when i was very young and i would sit and watch bakugan for hours like the double stand critical and how they stay on the gate card i love the idea jett❤
As someone who had lost all connection with Bakugan since the first anine ended
I really enjoy and appreciate these videos you make Jett, keep up the good work!
We had Bakugan Brawl and now Bakugan Melee, can't wait for Bakugan Ultimate and Bakugan for Wii U/3DS
Spin master should add this to their instructions.
Jett you are a genius. I need all of these rules written down haha
Jett are gate effects really back . Yeeeeeeeeesss!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awww yes
For the legacy series the Japanese Gate cards looked amazing faced up and down. The art was so stylized and unique
TCG: I'm the format Bakugan needs!
Melee: I'm the format Bakugan deserves!
Wow you really went the extra mile, im getting back into bakugan with my lil brother and im really liking your content.
Well at least I can go on a nostalgia trip with the rules I knew 10 years ago...
This sounds so fun! this video is the closest that has come to making me run out and buy some bakugan and gate cards. Simple but fun gameplay with enough depth to keep things interesting. Man, this is great :)
I really gotta say, Bakugan Melee is one of the best formats ever. SpinMaster, please hire him already. 😁🙏
convince spinmaster to make this official
I haven’t play but from theory crafting and listening to you explain the inns and outs of Bakugon melee i’ve come up with some suggestions that might help,
1. When adding a baku core, The B Power underneath them should be hidden from the opponent until both players have declared to stop adding core for that battle, then you flip them over and add the boost . That way you might be able to trick the opponent into using their most powerful core when they never need to. And sure when it comes to extremely high competitive Teenage and adult players don’t know the maximum power of each type of core rendering this system kind of obsolete, but for children (The primary target) this And an extra layer of strategy, and plus since most likely they won’t have the maximum power for each type of core this gives them a use for the weaker ones not making them completely worthless, as bluff fodder
2. Also once their use they never come back until you start a new game
Of course another way I thought of implementing them would be make them playable whenever you land on any card, With still being only allowed to use one, and still getting the boost of the base attribute and the gears attribute, Along with only being allowed to use them once a game, But whenever you do it you are not allowed to play Cors in that battle.
Also for timing he would place the gear at the beginning of the battle before other players added cores
when you threw those gate cards i felt personally attacked
Recently got back into bakugan and melee is by far the most fun I've had with this series.
"Do I eat gate cards?" Lol omg best bakugan youtuber ever!
Thanks for another great video, Jett! Love your channel, keep up your amazing work! 🤩
Thank you!
God that’s so good
I am definitely gonna try and make a comic of this!
Think I'll call it "Bakugan Melee Brawlers"
You're welcome to do so, just be sure to credit me and point people toward the channel!
@@JettKuso I was gonna do more than credit, I'm trying to see ways to add ya in it!
I'll be sure to point people here
I totally hope this catches on Melee looks super fun!
Spin master:
*Taking notes*
I love the Bakugan melee play pattern. It reminds me so much of the gameplay from the DS game. I hope there’s a way to make it more main stream.
I was talking about this with a friend of mine recently, we talked about the Action cards and a way of implementing them. He said about trying it with Action cards with an energy cost total of 12 or less and I would love to try that too!
I'm still thinking on how to use gear and Geogan and stuff but yeah!
If I were a gam designer I would have cores that have the bakugear symbol on them allow the player to attach a bakugear onto the bakugan that the core is being played on
"Gate open" REALLY tugged on the nostalgia strings for sure
at 1:34 : Wut Me: I'm confused too. Me again : tries to solve the unknown nonsense and cases of Bakugan
Gave this game a try tonight and it was super fun!
It's soooo good to hear "field open!" Again after so long
I love the shade you threw at the Eva Rebuilds because you are correct 😁
A gate card is like a sandwich with the attributes being the toppings
Yes you may eat it
Clarification: Do not eat Gate Cards.
JettKuso firstly, I’m honored to have you reply and secondly, gate card= tasty
@@jayteepee72 the teeth shattering metal really pulls it together for me, adds a nice zest to the flavor
“ So it’s good to recite Thierry intelligence “ well said magic man
0:28 Just in the Childhood!!!!
Your new game sounds so much easier to play and understand. Why couldn’t they have done that instead?
Bakugan Melee seems VERY inspired by Bakutech gameplay
Holee sh- those rules make it all worth it!
You really used the best attributes of the game and captured throwing, positioning and battling really well
I might use these rules if I ever play this in a game store 👀
Shadowstrike: you can't lose B-power on a negative bonus, negative bonuses are reversed into positive ones
Froststrike: Your opponent doesn't gain their bonus if they have a higher B-power than you, and they cannot fuse if they have a higher B-power than you
Doublestrike: You get double the bonus if you have a lower B-power than your opponent, and if you fuse, you get double of the higher bonus, but again, only of you have the lower B-power
Damage is used as a tiebreaker if both B-powers are tied, if damage ties, both bakugan are retracted and the card is returned to the field
I hope this works and isn't too confusing, but cool vid nonetheless!
Bakugan Melee sounds SICK! Now I wanna build my deck and try out this format!!
I didn't think this would happen I'm so excited
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS FOR A LONG TIME.
Same badly
I'm still here with my deck of big old gates and abilities and classic bakugan. I still love the old show and game childish quirks and all.
Spin Master should really take Bakugan melee into consideration.
That feild open was so nostalgic thogh i miss that
the bakugan melee idea is amazing, great work. my sugestion to avoid fusion spam: limit fusion: only one fusio bakugan per player, additionally fusions only activate on apropriate cards if your opponent already has 2 gate cards won, that way it could feel as if fusions are a last chance and could turn the game around for more tense gameplay
We never, NEVER got the card packs or the 40 deck starter set on stores, the only way to get them is by Amazon or other online services. I love Battle Planet and Armored Alliance, but i hate the distribution. Thanks for sharing that cool way to play using the gate cards! I really appreciate that!
