@whitedragonzerureusu4480 I started hating the reboot the moment they took subterra away. I have no regrets. They did made a Leonidas toy, so there's my only positive about the first reboot
Personally, I like the original Bakugan series more in aspects of both anime and toys. I'll admit that the reboots are trying and I respect the cast and crew for all their effort. However, the reboots seem to diverge more and more away from what made Bakugan, well, Bakugan. For example, the toys' play aspects tends to replicate that of Beyblade and overcomplicates it a little. The attributes seem more Pokemon like than the unique aspects of the Bakugan attributes. As for the characters personalities now, I'm not even sure how to describe how I feel about them to be honest. I understand that they need to evolve, change, keep up and appeal to new generations as well as their likes and dislikes but they need to do that without overly changing Bakugan's signature identity. I'm gonna still give new concepts a chance but I can't say that my like for the new concepts will hold even close to half the weight of love I have for the Original Series.
I agree. Plus i think the G1 anime did a good job setting up a believable universe for the toys. Like it wasn't just, "hey, here's some kids using the toys you can buy irl in a cool story!" The series had some weight to it

But alas he got a good character growth and they let him go :/ Still my favourite Bakugan antagonist. I liked Spectra as a bad guy too and he was a good rival to Dan. Alice is a sweet girl but she was pretty useless compared to Masquarade. I don't see many people comment about what happened to Lync so i'm not sure how many people care about it like i do. I'm also annoyed how easily Alice just forgot about him. Like he disappeared and she did nothing about it. Why didn't she try to find him? Sure he was the enemy and she didn't like him but at the same time it was foolish of her to not try to find him BECAUSE he was the enemy and she should of kept an eye on him and if she did that and kept interacting with Lync like she was already i think she would eventually see Lync's new behaviour and his character growth. I think he would of changed and not have been their enemy anymore and it looked like he might of developed a crush on her too which i thought was cute (I like the enemy to lovers or to friends trope okay ^^)

Action Duels were considerably more complicated than that because it was basically just regular duels with action cards and every action card had a different effect, including trap cards with negative effects. Course later into the anime most duels just disregarded this aspect of the game in spite of the continued use of action fields.
@@mattwo7the tricky part of action duel, not all action card have benefit for your playstyle. And action duel considered make duelist always in shape cause you need to run, climbing, etc across the action field
This was great. Explains exactly how most of us feel regarding the new reboot. I wish I was excited about Bakugan again. I didn't even stick around for the end of the first reboot. The community was strong but the support from Spin Master was lacking. I hope they can turn it around but I'm doubtful.
I think you'd enjoy talking about the Buddyfight anime as it has some attributes of alien monsters having to integrate with human society. In a funny way, Buddyfight is the bakugan reboot if it made sense
This is dumb, if it’s going to happen, it should happen with the original show, but with different characters, maybe it could be with the POV of the original Dan's friends, , maybe Shun can be the main character, I would love to see that. 13:1320:05I hope it’s a joke, it doesn’t have to do with racism.
I feel like, in general, the people in charge of Bakugan (and other shows quite frankly) need to be reminded of the quote by C.S. Lewis "A children's story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children's story in the slightest." And I also feel like you could apply that to the game as well, they're marketing strictly to kids, completely forsaking any other potential demographic.
I've been seeing the split ones at work, I always assumed it was for a fusion mechanic like in the last two seasons of the OG show. I didn't even realise they were from a reboot series. I hope this seris is good for the new generation of watcher's.
4:01 I mean, the second reboot lasted five seasons, one more than the original (not counting the anime adaptation of the Baku Tech! manga) so they must have done _something_ right. No idea what it was though, considering everything that they did wrong...
G1 technically had more runtime Gundalian Invaders had 39 half-hour episodes as opposed to Geogan Rising's 26 half-hour segments Mechtanium Surge Part 2 had 20 episodes as opposed to Legends' 13; I also like to see MS Part 2 as a season 5 being that it's an entirely separate story from part 1
31:50 Not gonna lie, after seeing this new Dan's haircut at the beginning of the video, I'm surprised it took that long before making a Dragon Ball joke.
I don’t understand like where did this notion come from? That kid just became dumb and can’t understand complex storytelling and they need pointless filler that’s why these reboot fail because you need a gripping story to push the toy line. That’s why all of us got into it in the first place, and that’s why all of us older fans have a connection to the franchise
It's been like this since media started. You just didn't notice it as a kid because kids don't notice they're being treated as brain damaged idiots until they go back to the stuff they watched as kids.
Should have just kept this og. Just bakugan brawl and bakugan stand, ability cards, gate cards, evolution and that's about it. Hell, even Battle gear was a nice touch. That was it. There was nothing more than it needed.
It’s funny how the last two series were on Cartoon Network and this one is on Disney XD. It’s Pokémon Sun and Moon all over again. I also like how this anime now makes the Bakugan look more human like instead of making them small handheld balls that turn into giant monsters.
It feels so strange too see someone else exprrss exactly how I feel about the Gen 3 Game compared to the TV Series. Like the show is dope but the physical game is very lackluster. Hopefully in the end it will work out for the absolute best but only time will tell. Also side note I love your hair 😊
I don't get how none on the production team or the higher ups get that kids just want to be cool if you make your game cool instead of goofy then people will play it
HOLY SHIT DUDE I REMEMBER WATCHING YOUR CHAOTIC AND OTHER BAKUGAN VIDEOS LIKE 4-5 YEARS AGO. Idk why i never subbed when i binged so many videos but im glad my algo found your channel again 😅
What they should have done with the anime is instead of rebooting it, they should have done what (yugioh/somewhat bayblade) did, and basically do spinoff sequel. That way the universe still feels connected you can have references here and there for nostalgia but also have a new cast and add new rules or whatever, and simply call it an evolution. instead of what they did with Dan & Drago. Like most of the new characters in G2 were neat (except knockoff masquerade #3) but the new Dan should have been a new protag. He genuinely annoyed me and made me wish for old Dan. But thats just my thoughts as someone who grew up with G1 bakugan as a younger kid
Something I loved about the first season of Bakugan is that it felt like something that kids would do with existing games. Like, we have this cool card game and a little bit of lore but there's no story so let's make our own. My friends and I would do the same with pokémon, Digimon, and yes Bakugan too. We take the lore of the games and make our own little stories as to why the battle's mattered.
I still think the New Vestroia Version of Bakugan is the best one that they coulda made, like having one gate card active at one time and then alternating that between players (with a big gate card). Use an actual life meter to make it less ambiguous of just win 3 fights, which leads to spitballing. Adding in double abilities would be cool especially with a card limit so you have 5 ability cards and you have to choose which abilities to bring in tiers like T1, T2, Fusion with the early tiers being either element restricted or Bakugan Restricted and then the Fusion is open ended. This pushes the game into more about resource management and using health as a resource without the big problem of the bakugan miss the card constantly. Add in one Gimmick which is Battle Gear (Which has seperate Ability Cards from the 5 lock out) and then lock that to one Battle Gear. So there is the argument of do you want more elemental Bakugan but if you lose the matched element for the Battle Gear it becomes not helpful if the main KOd or double stacking one element for the ease of use. TLDR If you have not played the OG Bakugan on the Wii you probably never played the closest Bakugan ever got to the show.
Yo thanks for your review on the anime! I think your point at 10:59 regarding the dissonance was exactly what I was feeling when watching the anime! There was this huge weird feel to it because of that.
In my personal opinion, the only good thing about the first reboot (battle planet) is the fact we finally got a physical form for Leonidas. It's not the one from the original battle brawlers game, but eh.
i loved the 1st gen also because i think they explained how the work and its rules so when you as a kid or teen played the game you basically already knew whats going on, also there was no arena just magnetic cards and the bakugan itself and i thnk it was WAY cheapper then this one ( i love when a show about games actually explains the game rules)
Obviously I love and miss the original Bakugan show and character designs but I really loved the designs from the 2018 show. It had a lot of character to the designs and the style was more distinct than both the original and new versions.
I kinda like the second half of the anime, yeah there's a LOT that can be done good and I just wish it was more like a new generation rather than just rebooting everything and reusing characters
I really don't like the new attribute system. So, take transformers for example. Dinobot would be in the Dino clan and Waspinator would be in the Insect clan. But what about something like Godzilla, such as Deathsaurus? Would Godzilla and Deathsaurus be in the Dino Clan or Dragon Clan?
@krimsonklaww611 I feel like any bakugan that don't fit in the Dragon, Insect, Mammal, Dino, Aquatic, or Avian clans would fit in the Misfit clan but even then it doesn't feel right. In my honest opinion I wish they would had both
gen 3 toys looks like trying to be beyblade with cards and making it unplayable while the anime is yugioh arc V shenanigans that doesn't even connect to the real life game 😂😂
I can only acknowledge S1 and S2, new vestroia shouldve had more inclusion of the old cast, although that may be the child inside me that still had a small crush on Julie, although I just prefer S1 over S2
im grateful for the og with a great anime and great toys(for the first 2 seasons) and the reboot for amazing toys and gameplay but an alright cartoon but the new reboot fails in both aspects imo. compared to beyblade with hasbro cooking bakugan should just rest at this point
Honestly I don’t think that have a real plan. I think they are just trouble shooting reboots until one gets popular enough to get remotely close to other tcg franchises. Just shoving reboot after reboot.
9:42 Is the Killmonger haircut even a thing in Japan? The show is still animated by TMS (course modern TMS sure as f*ck aren't the same TMS who did Bakugan Battle Brawlers, Hamtaro, Sonic X and a whole bunch of western 90s cartoons)
It’s proven the point that reboots were a mistake with G3 now being questioned and G2 people have turned their backs on the only series fans could look up to is the G1 series anything involving with spin master is a bad idea in the past five years we should’ve had instead of a reboot. We should’ve had a season five of G1 instead of these crappy reboots.

Say what?
@@dylansharp8471 aside from the first reboot taking out subterra and changing all the icons I don't really care about the reboot
@@smasher3261 They are taking away elements? Wtf nah i'm not gonna consider the reboots canon then at all and i didn't like the reboots to begin with. This adds another reason as to why

Well anime is usually target teenagers, that what original anime goal with serious plot make things more interesting.

@@TheDragonfriday Yep kid me would see the new bakugan then look for the very first og series where it all began. Then be disappointed when they watch the new reboots. The rebooted characters are boring, drago has become more like a gary sue oc. The new reboot Bakugan designs are not as interesting as the old ones. It's the same as beyblade they just don't look like cool mythical japanese creatures anymore. Just water-downed generic plain animals
Maybe it's because of the red outfit but it suddenly popped into my head that you'd be a KILLER Spectra cosplay
Late comment but that would be interesting and cool to see if he does that
11:16 I see, the Yu-gi-oh Arc V approach
Dan and Drago Are forever the main faces of the franchise
Honestly, the G3 Bakugan series reminds me of both Transformers Generation 2 in terms of the toy line and Bakugan Mechtanium Surge Arc 2 in terms of the cartoon.
G2 was mostly part-G1 reissues in EXTERME 90’s colours plus BIG GUMS and some new figures including the then-revolutionary Cyberjets.
@@rayvenkman2087 I meant that with transformers G2, Hasbro had more or less rebooted the franchise quickly and prematurely which spin master has done with Bakugan
I didn't even get that into the series, but the first couple episodes of the first show having that rooftop battle only for the sake of a few more moments where his mother was still alive was wildly emotional. I don't know that either of these other two seasons even seem to touch anything close to that deep.
I will be forever salty about Alice's final brawl.
Why?

@@dylansharp8471 If I'm remembering correctly, her last duel was against Shadow Prove (and his Hydranoid rip-off) and she lost. The strongest bakugan of the original main 6 lost to a robot...
@@starstruck8862 I think Hydranoid was weaker when used by Alice and she didn't use him effectively. She just doesn't have the nature and same determination and strategic mindset Masquerade had. She also just lacked that cunning that hydranoid was good with. I think the battle would have gone a different direction if he came back and partnered up with Hydranoid again. But alas he got a good character growth and they let him go :/ Still my favourite Bakugan antagonist. I liked Spectra as a bad guy too and he was a good rival to Dan. The one thing i didn't like the most in that season was Lync's fate. I really liked the change he was going through with his interactions with Alice, then they just had to kill him off like that :/ I wish he got to survive... Have Alice come in and save him...

Oh god no.
Nah arc v duels rocked.
Action Duels were considerably more complicated than that because it was basically just regular duels with action cards and every action card had a different effect, including trap cards with negative effects. Course later into the anime most duels just disregarded this aspect of the game in spite of the continued use of action fields.

21:11 - There's a SOUP!? WHY ARE YOU AT SOUP!? 🤣
Is it me or does TC's brother sound like they're doing an impression of Ken Ichijouji?
The fact that the attributes were removed makes me incredibly annoyed. In ways I cannot begin to comprehend.
This is dumb, if it’s going to happen, it should happen with the original show, but with different characters, maybe it could be with the POV of the original Dan's friends, , maybe Shun can be the main character, I would love to see that.

@@Laval2400 I can't find any groups that play the new Digimon TCG so i know how that feels ;-;
As someone who started watching you more recently, the "keep playing" sign off makes so much more sense now.
I remember in 2018 I tried to get into the card game but couldn't find any cards, now I know why.
I've been seeing the split ones at work, I always assumed it was for a fusion mechanic like in the last two seasons of the OG show. I didn't even realise they were from a reboot series. I hope this seris is good for the new generation of watcher's.
Honestly, a Bakugan × Transformers collab would be lit

There was a Juno in the OG anime.
@@DawnLong-s3k Oh, whoops. I've only watched battle brawlers, unfortunately.
A character named Alirade would still be funny though.
4:01 I mean, the second reboot lasted five seasons, one more than the original (not counting the anime adaptation of the Baku Tech! manga) so they must have done _something_ right.
No idea what it was though, considering everything that they did wrong...
G1 technically had more runtime
Gundalian Invaders had 39 half-hour episodes as opposed to Geogan Rising's 26 half-hour segments
Mechtanium Surge Part 2 had 20 episodes as opposed to Legends' 13; I also like to see MS Part 2 as a season 5 being that it's an entirely separate story from part 1
It happened to Beyblade as well.
It feels so strange too see someone else exprrss exactly how I feel about the Gen 3 Game compared to the TV Series. Like the show is dope but the physical game is very lackluster. Hopefully in the end it will work out for the absolute best but only time will tell. Also side note I love your hair 😊
Can we just let Bakugan rest in peace. Listen these new bakugan can’t beat the original
Yeah
I think g2 did a good job at capturing what made me love the series I do think that g3 is/was awful it tried to be Beyblade but failed miserably
I will sacrifice souls for them to continue the original story where Dan and Drago just randomly sail off to the sunset

I give props to Bakugan i never thought they get this far. 😂
Yeah
TLDR If you have not played the OG Bakugan on the Wii you probably never played the closest Bakugan ever got to the show.
seeing several yugitubers such as mr alex cimo and paul from team aps in this is crazy
TC lookin like he joined Organization 13.
Yo thanks for your review on the anime! I think your point at 10:59 regarding the dissonance was exactly what I was feeling when watching the anime! There was this huge weird feel to it because of that.
Totally loves the owl house mic.... The reboot of Bakugan is my worst nightmare cuz of my brother cuz he replied the same ep everyday
In my personal opinion, the only good thing about the first reboot (battle planet) is the fact we finally got a physical form for Leonidas. It's not the one from the original battle brawlers game, but eh.
Look at how they massacred my boy...
genuinely think they should hold a watch party for the entire company for og seasons 1 & 2 to remember why people liked it lmao
Seriously you’re such a legend! Thank you for making such great content throughout the years!!!
Cries in Cardfight Vanguard and thier incessant need to always reboot it.
I watched the new vestroya series in my childhood. But all I remember is cool bakugan designs and some sexy male antagonists 😄
i loved the 1st gen also because i think they explained how the work and its rules so when you as a kid or teen played the game you basically already knew whats going on, also there was no arena just magnetic cards and the bakugan itself and i thnk it was WAY cheapper then this one ( i love when a show about games actually explains the game rules)
Obviously I love and miss the original Bakugan show and character designs but I really loved the designs from the 2018 show. It had a lot of character to the designs and the style was more distinct than both the original and new versions.
I miss Dan’s brown eyes… there is so few anime characters with dark eyes and I just miss it so much-
I kinda like the second half of the anime, yeah there's a LOT that can be done good and I just wish it was more like a new generation rather than just rebooting everything and reusing characters
They should have just made a show about Alice and how she is her living life
I remember watching so many vlogs about the 10 years anniversary/reboot. It was really hype.

There was a Bakugan reboot? Also, there's another reboot?! Is it a reboot of the reboot?
Oh shit!!! Cimoooooo and team aps are we sure this wasn't the Yu-gi-oh
And don't get me started on something humanoid like Taylean or Cyndeous
@krimsonklaww611 I feel like any bakugan that don't fit in the Dragon, Insect, Mammal, Dino, Aquatic, or Avian clans would fit in the Misfit clan but even then it doesn't feel right. In my honest opinion I wish they would had both
gen 3 toys looks like trying to be beyblade with cards and making it unplayable
while the anime is yugioh arc V shenanigans that doesn't even connect to the real life game 😂😂
The first generation of Bakugan continues to be the best. I refuse to acknowledge anything that happened with the franchise after the defeat of Hal G.
I can only acknowledge S1 and S2, new vestroia shouldve had more inclusion of the old cast, although that may be the child inside me that still had a small crush on Julie, although I just prefer S1 over S2
Have you thought about doing Monsuno??? I remember that the opening was a banger

im grateful for the og with a great anime and great toys(for the first 2 seasons) and the reboot for amazing toys and gameplay but an alright cartoon but the new reboot fails in both aspects imo. compared to beyblade with hasbro cooking bakugan should just rest at this point
This is a funny video to watch after walking home from the mall after digimon tcg locals, lol
