I think you are wrong, because the engineering and plastic is leagues better than the hollow dinobot and dragon Megatron you are using to compare it to. Scale matters, and engineering matter.
I’ve got the voyager Prime Dreadwing, a friend gave him to me. When I got him his hinge joint that holds the key thruster was cracked, the translucent port also has the same million micro cracks in it.
Also if you didn’t notice after posting this video, the new legacy Skyquake has this little flaps on the inside of the forearms to cover up the holes in the arms, hopefully that makes you like/enjoy the figure a bit more
Gotta say, I really like the new Skyquake more than I thought I would. Great blend of G1 and Prime that IMO works really well, good accessories, great engineering, articulation and alt mode, as well as honestly being one of the bigger leaders compared to what we've been getting lately with WFC and Legacy. I never got the original toy so very happy to have Skyquake in the collection, always though he was a really cool character and design.

There's clearly been another round of budget cuts since the latest price increases. Leaders weren't the best value anyway during Siege and Earthrise, but they've taken a noticeable dive in heft, complexity, and size since then. I refuse to buy any Transformer at full MSRP any more.
Its actuslly crazy the like different views people have if this figure. Either people praise it and say its worth the orice 100% or they say its not worth it at all
Price points are no longer about simple price scale -_- Stuff like Skyquake are for the engineering or for things such as how the toy is put together as not all of the clear plastic is used for like large pieces and painted over its like clipped on stuff, friction and adhesive instead of bigger parts, which makes it more expensive. Just something to consider, and yes I do get the idea with the world falling apart too, I think the new system that was from WFC onward is something that is better, but that is just me, others may see it too but its just a bad time to get it to enter because Pandemic and now falsified inflation through corperate greed.
Yeah it's not, I pointed that out. But Skyquake just doesn't have ENOUGH engineering or accessories or size to be worth it. Smaller Leaders come with more, bigger leaders come with less. But this one only comes with a thin unpainted minigun and a pretty lame sword. He weighs over 3 ounces less than the other two legacy Leaders. He's NOT as good of a value. You get LESS toy.

Well he came with a big ol' Trailer and had exceptional engineering, and also he wasn't 55, he was 50. If you're making me pay more I expect more. And many other size classes have delivered on that with better engineering and quality, EXCEPT Leader class. I've gotten a few other comments about my points here, I think I might wanna make a full video to clarify them.

I disagree. I like having trailers with my Optimus Primes, and I feel making a higher-quality Voyager figure and putting a trailer with him is worth the Leader price. And with the trailer, you get enough plastic that makes it equal to other Leaders. This is the first Transformer in a long time I actually returned it to the store I bought it from. It genuinely almost hurt my wrist from transforming because my tendinitis condition sucks. Thankfully Target allowed me to get refunded $60, which blew my mind, because I did not realize prices for Leader classes have gone up. Skyquake/Dreadwing are ok, but they are not worth $55
I really like the new one and your vid convinced me not to bother picking up the old one. I was already scared about how the clear plastic would be holding up 10 years later and my worst fears were confirmed. And if you get the SXS toys upgrade set for Skyquake he comes with a much better looking minigun
I remember the OG Prime Skyquake being the last figure released in the line and very few stores ordered it. I ended up having to buy it off Ebay for $55 😳
If youre interested, you can clean up Legacy Skyquake a bit more, compact that open box in his back, and make the whole thing much more tight and secure. When you fold the end of the cockpit, you have to push it backwards until the landing gear assembly tilts outward and clicks in place. If you dont do that, the entire center of the torso won't line up and fully peg together.
The ratchets being super squeaky is normal for most copies and if your back missassembly is the back not going in flush there are fixes for that, but if it's an actual missassembly then I'm sorry
The new one is the closest thing to the old big leader class figures we had in a while that we all miss And also it's a pretty cool figure in my opinion I can wait for the dreadwing repaint
Personally the best $55 I've spent on a TF in a while was either Sludge or Coronation Starscream. One was so much bigger and the other just came with SO much stuff.
Glad I managed to find my Skyquake for around $30 at Target, hope I can find his brother still as the positives outweigh the negatives luckily, but I do wish he still came with blast effects of some kind as have no idea where people be getting those and they look sick on figures
Surprisingly I don’t really care for the new cockpit, I feel like they just add in a bit to much detail in certain areas (goes for most figures) where it’s not really necessary. Overall though despite the cockpit and few crappy accessories, this figure is pretty great, but definitely not leader price worth like you said
Legacy one reminds me of the ROTF Mindwipe for some reason(aside from the colour scheme). I originally wanted to get Dreadwing but can never find him and the more I see this one the more I am sold on it.
the problem for me is that the tfp skyquake had him for years the plastic over time started to brake and his legs got loss the legacy feels good to hold and doesn't feel like its gonna crumble in my hands
It was a definitely a voyager and 1/2 and if they could have added at least higher quality weapons and his bomb accessories. I don't regret my purchase because I was able to get him on sale for $35, but I paid the full price for Dreadwing because I wanted the brothers. It was a good blend of TFP and G1 and maybe a 3rd party will make an upgrade kits for better weapons

I would say comparing this to the SS86 Dinobots isn’t fair because they’re sort of like outliers compared to the other leaders…but I also don’t have any real argument since that’s what modern leaders should be like. I still hate how the SS Slag/Slug looks, it also feels like I’m the only one that sees just how completely botched the proportions are; the head and legs are the only parts that look fine, but his torso is stupidly massive (it practically looks like a swolo meme), and the hilariously short arms aren’t helping. Maybe it’s just because Slug’s my favorite Dinobot, and Sludge looking perfect just makes it more annoying.
Great review and comparison. I got an rid skyquake misb last year for a decent price compared to what it’s going for. I never attempted to transform him or rid dreadwing after watching reviews and seeing breakage and never will. It’s a shame because they are great looking representations. I did place skyquakes sword in his hand and noticed that same thumb you probably broke developed a stress mark. The legacy skyquake looks like a nice figure but since I have the rid version I won’t be getting it.

It's not just the height, it's the weight, accessories, overall size. It's not worth it compared to other Leaders. This has never been an issue for any TF size class before these recent leader classes. Why did I not discuss the tiny WFC Trilogy leaders? Cuz I didn't buy many of them.

This to me is what a Leader should be, not a Voyager with a crap accessory.

Remember to punch anyone in the face that gaslights you by saying it’s only 3.6% year to year inflation. Deluxe figures were $10 not too long ago and Voyagers at $15. Optimal Optimus was sold at $19.99 MSRP and he would still be less than $40 after inflation.
Dude my biggest problem with the new skyquake is the chest I despise how flat the chest of it is. It just throws the proportions all off for me, I love the old ones chest how the cockpit fills out the chest and makes it more round but the new one I mean son of a bitch has a literal landing strip on his chest.
That's the G1 homage at work, unfortunately. I like the look, and how this manages to pretty competently blend the two iterations of the character together. If you're just looking for an updated version of Prime, I don't think we're likely to get that, sadly.
It is, but that doesn't mean this one delivered enough to be worth the price. Is it a good figure? Absolutely, just not a good value compared to other leaders.
I think they determine the price point because of the character not the toy you're actually paying because they know fans will pay for it and if they don't they will eventually because of a repaint or retool into another character.

I acknowledge, I think even in this video (maybe), that prices internationally are even worse. But it doesn't mean our prices are GOOD in comparison. Ours are bad, yours are worse. Also 95 AUD is 63 USD, so your price is still higher and worse, but not by the $40 you may have previously thought.

I just don't even like the look of the figure. Even if hw as a t a voyager or deluxe pricepoint I wouldn't want it. The giant insecticon-esque chest cavity with the window looks genuinely awful to me. I just wish the cockpit of the plane was his chest. The chest makes it look less like a Transformer and more like a generic robot toy.

its funny how Americans well i assume your American complain over a 55 Doller transformer when here in Australia the the price of voyagers and our leader classes are normally 95 dollars the pain
I acknowledge, I think even in this video (maybe), that prices internationally are even worse. But it doesn't mean our prices are GOOD in comparison. Ours are bad, yours are worse. Also 95 AUD is 63 USD, so your price is still higher and worse, but not by the $40 you may have previously thought.

@@Jcc2224 Its meant to go like this, including the cockpit glass sticking out the back. Its just really hard to get the nose cone piece folded all the way.

My opinion is MY opinion. You can disagree with it, but it's not objectively WRONG, just as yours is not.
I just don't even like the look of the figure. Even if hw as a t a voyager or deluxe pricepoint I wouldn't want it. The giant insecticon-esque chest cavity with the window looks genuinely awful to me. I just wish the cockpit of the plane was his chest. The chest makes it look less like a Transformer and more like a generic robot toy.
