Funny enough, I like the SS more than I thought I would, but man that original is so better and well put together, aside from the joints that are now loose
@@Foxdidnothingwrong I've never gotten why everyone thinks that, hes a great figure with an awesome transformation, actually had his gun mode, had lots of paint, and a way better vehicle mode imo.
@@nachoprime9649 IDK, the only problem with SS Jazz is he's really small and has 2 different hands. Everything else is better on the SS version Edit: DOTM Crankcase was WAY better than SS Gold Crowbar
@@SirTaxFraudALotyeah let’s ignore the fact that Soundwave is a skilled spy so being a satellite would really work, let’s have him turn into a pancake like in his bb ss toy or a cassette player
This is one of those times where people can't use the excuse that the SS soundwave is more accurate, because neither of them are. The difference here is that the old soundwave actually pulls it off
The only thing I like on the SS figure is that his chest reminds me of the massive cannon the Iron Giant has when he turns into a weapon towards the end of the film. Like it looks damn near identical.
I feel the SS Soundwave works better as a basic Decepticon cannon fodder figure. He would look kinda cool if there were more than one and they were semi color coded kinda like G1 Seekers.
Personally, I like the robot mode sculpt more on SS and with a better deco he'll look so much better than the boring grey with pubic hair. BUT the satellite mode is objectively better on the ROTF one
0:12 gives you a pretty good idea of what you’re in for. Having the old one, I always gave it a modified robot mode, with the torso folded down ALL the way (which creates a really cool door on the chest, G1 style), the wings tucked cleanly behind him, and I flipped out the big wings on his shoulders to give him huge Magnus-style satellite dish shoulder pads.
I was this close to buying the SS soundwave, but then on closer inspection he appears to have Cosmic Chickenpox. I bought the ROTF version on ebay instead and I am very satisfied.
*I personally enjoy the SS Soundwave, but let's be honest. For those who haven't had the chance to grab this guy back in 2009, this is literally our last chance...*
Jcc2224: forget the studio series get the ROTF deluxe instead Me: gets the Studio Series one because I had no other soundwave and I couldn’t find the ROTF deluxe at a decent price
I have both. The new one is not quite as bad as it looks but still pretty lame. The lack of silver paint throughout and the lack of a ravage accessory and the lack of more electric blue means it isn't value for money. In fact, I only bought it at all because I found one for half RRP on ebay.
@@Jcc2224 ah thanks, the reason I asked was because I was thinking about making my main YT channel name cc5052 and i didn't know if the j was some kind of traditional thing or something like that.
With the ss version I guess that means there will be a movie masterpiece version with a better looking robot and vehicle form and a better transformation
If they put that nice silver everywhere it would have worked much better, he was pretty colourless in the film but the silver would have brought out all that detail but it all looks so bland
Man. I wanted the new one to be good so badly because a modernized Soundwave would 100% work as a satellite. But this is just sooooo boring. Buying the Dotm Studio Series Soundwave was a hard enough purchase for me.
Honestly it's not even that the SS one is bad. It's just...so bland looking. With barely any paint and a generic build. Has an okay mold. The RoTF figure at least has the signature red visor and blue helmet, and is a buff manlet. That's Soundwave as fuck.
As a fan of the Transformers Studio Series and as a Transformers collector in general, I'll say the ROTF Soundwave is probably one of the weakest/worst figure that ever made.
I feel like I'm the only one who like the ss one more. The old deluxe is just covered in kibble and has really weird proportions. The SS series one obviously has issues with its engineering but it cuts a way better silhouette and looks much more like his G1 counterpart if you give him the right coloration. I'm hoping that if we get an mpm of him they'll go for the studio series look with better engineering and paint.
You probably are yeah. lol What you see as kibble I see as a cool cape/shield thing for him, and I think his hunched and upper-heavy proportions lend themselves to a cool looking robot. The SS is just... boring and grey. One of my least favorite Soundwaves for sure.
@@Jcc2224 I think I just prefer the proportions and shapes. I agree though that the colors are boring and drab. The new SS one looks like Soundwave cosplaying as a knight.
I know he looks like he's trying to cosplay The Last Knight Megatron, and failing terribly.
TLK soundwave

The McDonald’s Transformers Animated toys have better engineering than that Soundwave.
The OG is basically *Emperor Soundwave, the Superior* and the new one is…I’m good but too accurate to look more colorful

I really enjoyed those little edits for adjustments lol *chefs kiss*
Only one of these actually said, "Soundwave acknowledges. Decepticons...mobilize."

For a new, old vs new Maybe the old leader megatron from the first movie compared to the mpm megatron?
Old Version Superior!
New Version Inferior!
Your Dr claw soundwave impression is pretty good
Deadass imma just use this as regular deception troop for cannon fodder
When the Legends class figure has a more complex transformation than the big budget “improved” one
I just got the battlefield bumblebee vs soundwave pack

A mainline retail transformer with a fucking flight stand.
I honestly want the SS Soundwave for that alone.
If you collect transformers and put them in a big battle then get more ss Soundwave for protoforms

Is it just me that prefers the studio series version of revenge of the fallen soundwave. I just like the way he looks more
There’s a reason why I went back and got the RotF mold in a G1 inspired deco after getting the SS version.
Every stone/ jesse mold ever maybe?
*you fail me yet again... hasbro*
The new one looks like one of those dumb robots in movies where there are just 1000s of them that are just there to be shot lol
i like the 2009 version because He's almost G1
The spots on him is like space dust or something
Highlighting certain panels on the SS with metallic blue from tamiya does wonders for the figure

The studio series looks as if he hasn’t scanned an alternate mode yet

SS soundwave obviously has spots for his leapard mode(a hidden mode!!)
Man yeah besides that big chest piece and the silver paint that new one is ooglay
Nevermind about the link mine just came in the mail today he's a nice looking figure 👍🏾
Why does nobody flip up the chest on the old version? All three blue circles are supposed to be revealed.
Kinda makes him look like Ed Brown from 90 Day Fiancé
I kinda always count it as a piece of articulation, I forget about it a lot tho. I kinda prefer him looking more hunched over anyways.
