The idi is all mechanical non-turbo also uses injector cups and does not actually inject fuel into the piston it has a pre combustion chamber does not have a pcm does not use a high pressure oil pump while some aspects sound similar it is a completely different engine. I almost prefer the idi engine. It is simpler than a 7.3 power stroke or a t444e and I might even say more reliable the t444e is just an updated younger brother to the idi and more modernized for that current time period

Unless someone changed vins or cabs and front ends that aint a 1998 front end. The motor sounds like a t444e 7.3 powerstroke so it sounds to me like it was a 1998 frame with a 1998 cab and front end and someone swapped the front end. Because i take back what i said about the cab Because the cabs are pretty much identical from the S series.
How was it putting the 84 hood on? I have a 2001 IH 4900 with a dt530. Hood is pretty beat, but I love the looks of these particular hoods. The only thing I was curious about was whether or not it was a quick and easy bolt on or a custom hinge and latch kind of deal
