Interesting thoughts in this video. I think you’re right about the different generations. When I was young I was very interested in fashion and trends, an interest I’ve had throughout my life. Don’t get me wrong, I did wear clothes that I felt were “me” but did always keep what was current in my mind when choosing an outfit. My daughter and granddaughter focus more on what they like and feel comfortable in rather than what’s on trend. My daughter especially has a style that is all her own and it suits her perfectly. Good lesson for this lady of a certain age!😂
This was such a refreshing video, real life! I see many TH-camrs with their over the top homes, clearing out closets with clothes on the floor as rails are full, and shake my head. With all the needs in our world, how does that make sense? I love your down to earth approach, I am much more relaxed in my lifestyle now I am later sixties. I wear what is practical, and still look nice. Yes, I do wear old clothes for painting, garden work etc. as it only makes sense. Being practical and living within your means is a much better approach than chasing the latest trends. How we treat people is more important. I like your candid comments on fashion, they always bring a smile to my face. And I do care that I present well, I am not a fashion fail😉.
One of the benefits of aging, I have found (to my infinite relief) is that I care somewhere on a scale of 'very little' to 'not a jot', what others look like / what others may think I look like / what I may look like in comparison with others. ('Behold the field in which I grow my f**ks, and see that it is barren' - as the splendid meme goes.) I am an utter realist about what I look like, and what I don't look like. My style and tastes change and evolve, and that is an enjoyable process. Clothes, jewellery, hair, makeup... browsing, considering, sourcing, thrifting... it's fun, it's self care, it's satisfying. Almost exclusively charity shops, preloved, resellers, online market places - fab stuff for strictly bargain prices. High streets, shopping centres and mainstream retailers turn me off majorly, these days. Hello, world - this is me.
I've always thought the opposite about trends that come around again. If I like it, it fits my personality and it suits my bodyshape, then all that still holds true the following time around. If I buy something that I've had similar before then I know that it works for me and it is true to my style and not a passing fad for me.
I agree, if it's in fashion and it suits you, wear it...however, if it doesn't suit you, and it's all the rage, it's damn hard to find something else!!!😢
Completely agree with the thought on gardening in a flowy flowery dress. There are a lot of looks that I find beautiful, like high heels. But I am not gonna wear it. My life isn't high heels life. I actually won't really wear anything that is uncomfortable, takes up to much time to care for /put on. The trick is to find clothing that fits not only my body but also my life style.
I have all basic classic items in my wardrobe. I’m 69 so I don’t need a lot of clothes. What I do is I put stylish updated accessories with these plain classic clothes and make hundreds of outfits. I love scars, hats, belts, and updated purses. I can take a small amount of clothes and make literally 30 outfits, I love outfit videos like the ones you did 😊🇺🇸
It makes me smile when my daughter, in her 30s, comes to me for fashion advice. Often borrowing items to finish her look off. She is 1 size smaller than me so my clothes don't fit her. We shop together sometimes and discuss trends. I find that online shopping has also changed the way we buy clothes. Outfits are already put together and you can see how it was intended or make it your own. Like your content very much. 😊
I do enjoy your chatty videos and seeing "real life." I have children in their late 20's and early 30's, I agree with the fashion take, however I think young mothers(because they grew up in the insta generation) have a very unrealistic idea of motherhood. I see so many that are shocked at how much hard work it is. You did a great job analyzing both generations, thank you.
Oh, your painting! You are so right about seeing it the next day. We get so focused on the bits and pieces we can’t see it for what it is. We don’t see the whole thing properly. I think getting dressed is a bit like that. Please keep painting, I wish you could come to my Open Studio. We’d have such fun! Plus, we’d be the most stylish!
I think its funny, we donate our clothes, other young women buy them because they are in fashion again. I have a chocolate brown suit with a light brown pinstripe... I swear it looks exactly like one that was in the highend shops this winter just gone (Australia is opposite of you, we are in spring going into summer, so the winter just gone)... I wanted to wear mine and my daughter 'forbid' it😂😂 but I think I should have and told her I bought the new one, I swear she would never have been able to pick it, its 35yrs old and I can still fit in it.
Do you know you are completely right, my daughter is 27 she wears what she likes and doesn’t follow trends so much as me, we are the generation of fashion obsessed women lol
My 40 year old daughter doesn't think about fashion, just wears what's practical for her lifestyle. I notice that you're following the modern trend to wear layers of skincare and makeup on your face - 4 layers! Previously we just used moisturizer and foundation, now a serum under moisturizer is essential and SPF definitely.
I'm not. It's not really what my audience want. I did when I was a new channel as it really speeds up your learning with editing etc but in itself does not grow a channel.

Hello, world - this is me.
I picked up a fab faux suede waistcoat from a charity shop this week. Yes I shop charity too 😀.
I've always thought the opposite about trends that come around again.

So much food for thought in this video. I love your view on being fashionable: updated but still yourself. ❤ Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Thanks for all your fun videos. I just wanted to say that I think your hair looks great "untidy."
Haha 😄 thank you

You are absolutly right, younger génération I would say 30, 40, do not care about fashion. They buy what they like.

Yes that would be fun if i was local. I will be going to another paint and sip in 2 weeks so will show that if its any good :)
@ I live in Minnesota! Far away! Have fun!

Yes that's true it was just 2 layers. I also didn't wear foundation until my late 30s as I didn't like the feel it used to have. Non breathable goop.
Are you going Vlogmas this year? I’m a new channel and planning on doing Vlogmas. I’m searching Vlogmas videos and found your channel.
I'm not. It's not really what my audience want. I did when I was a new channel as it really speeds up your learning with editing etc but in itself does not grow a channel.
It is so complicated these days to get dressed.....correctly!!
Its not really. we are made to believe it is from so much we watch but in real life no one you mix with is that perfectionist so don't worry about it.
@Myover50fashionlife You are right! Thank you !
