    In terms of ‘taking up that space’ I have found a warm smile and actively engaging with those around you works wonders. The person who serves you in the supermarket deserves an active response to their automatic greeting as much as anyone else. These brief interactions can give you and others a real lift.

    I really appreciate learning from a woman who is closer to my age. All of your comments are on point with the issues. I’m having to deal with right now. It’s not inexpensive to learn how to redo your makeup as you age and how to redo your styling as your body changes. Thank you for all of your help.

    I had a little chuckle with your take backspace segment. I have always felt a shiver of shock or surprise run through me when I discovered I was being talked about. I have never felt like I was upfront or being observed. Bless you for encouraging me to boldly be who I really want to be. I may have to save up for it for a while.

    I so agree with getting your colours done and getting them updated. The trouble is, it can be hard to get a good consultation. i was done in the 90s, as a deep autumn, then went lighter (hair and eyes) with age. My original lady, the CMB trainer in UK had retired, so had to find another. Got bright spring, which did not believe and looked awful on me, so then another, warm spring, then another warm autumn - totally confused! I suspect I am somewhere between my original deep autumn and a soft autumn, as have only neutral warm skin, not very warm at all, and certainly anything bright overwhelms me. It would be nice to know for certain again, but lost my faith in, and lots of money, colour consultation for the time being.

    • @capsuleclosetstylist
      @capsuleclosetstylist  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @trishagoodwin4069 Yes it can be very tricky. So I think part of the problem is that there are too many people out there who call themselves 'stylists' after doing a two week online course or similar. It is equally frustrating for the likes of us who have years of experience. In addition there were originally four colour palettes in the 80's and then that was extended to 12 in the 90's. Personally, I do not think that everyone fits perfectly into those predefined boxes and more often that not I find myself swapping colours out to better suit the individual. You only have to look out the window to see that not everyone can possibly fit into 12 colour palettes! So in answer to your query, you are very likely correct and you very likely do fall between the cracks. A lot f people do. The problem with trying to fit everyone into 12 boxes is that some fit better than others and the likelihood is you have attributes that apply to several of those predefined palettes. However, in addition that also means that you will have attributes that don't too! On top of this, I do not believe the original palettes take into account women as they age when often colours need to become slightly more muted. This is particularly the case when someone decides to embrace the grey. My best advice would be either a. book in for a chat with me, or b. Look for someone with 10 years plus (preferably longer) experience of working with lots of different people. That is not as a stylist in a department store for example, but outside clients. Also ask them to prove their experience and ask to see lots of references (20+).

    I like picking a scarf in the colour I would like to try, its an inexpensive way to add colour without a big expense if you end up not liking it. As for make up, I tint my lashes every couple of months, a little concealer, bold lipstick and good to go.

    After reaching 50 ( now 61) I decided to keep really slim and take extra care how I present to the world. I didn't want to become invisable! For me, the most important reason, and this has been the payoff- younger people- teens, 20's 30's onwards, will still engage in interesting conversation! I didn't want to feel like I had nothing to say, and assume it didn't matter anyway because I was just an old lady. So glad I made that decision😊

    My hair is naturally white/ grey now and I need eye makeup to stop looking like a ghost. Moisturiser by the gallon also required- using clinique. But very little foundation. What I notice is that make up done in natural light at home is washed out in fluorescent light at work so might need extra eye liner and lipstick.

    With skin care in SC USA 🇺🇸, I’m still getting whiteheads and blackheads. My skin was oily growing up, but I’m 74 now. What do you suggest? I no longer have oily skin

    • @capsuleclosetstylist
      @capsuleclosetstylist  วันที่ผ่านมา

      Here are some skincare tips for whiteheads and blackheads post menopause:
      * Use retinoids: Prescription retinoids like adapalene and tretinoin are more effective than over-the-counter retinol for treating acne, scarring, and hyperpigmentation. They work by increasing cell turnover, reducing oil production, and unclogging pores.

      * Choose a gentle cleanser: Look for a cleanser with not too many active ingredients, as potent ingredients like vitamin C can cause a reaction.

      * Use a moisturizer with alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs): AHAs boost exfoliation and cell turnover. Avoid moisturizers with rich ceramides, which can make breakouts worse.

      * Exfoliate: Chemical exfoliation is generally preferred to physical exfoliation.

      * Use lightweight products: Look for products that are low in oils, lipids, and silicone derivatives. Silicone can contribute to clogged pores, breakouts, and dull skin.

      * Use products with hyaluronic acid: Hyaluronic acid is a non-oily, water-holding active that can help.

      * Use products with peptides and ceramides: These are gentle ways to keep your skin barrier in check.

    As I’ve moved into my 60’s I’ve started to tone my makeup down. I’m ash blonde and getting more grey. What about brows tho? The blonde pencil I’ve been using seems too bold but I don’t find lighter colors. I’ve noticed that good brows really wake up my face but mine are very patchy and also going silver grey.

    My hairdresser always says that grey hair makes you appear older and does not work for the vast majority of women. I have rather pale skin and with grey hair I would be completely washed out, so I would have to put on lots of make up to compensate for it.
    And yes: wear colour, don‘t go all grey and beige. Older people unfortunately show a tendency for these pale colours, I don‘t understand why.

  • @lynnbult9750

    • @capsuleclosetstylist
      @capsuleclosetstylist  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @lynnbult9750 Thank you for your contribution. To clarify, I create all of these videos and the advice in them for free. I cannot use any image due to copyright issues, which could result in fines amounting to thousands. Moreover, I’m not willing to spend hundreds for a single image. To work around this, I use a subscription-based service that lets me select from a set of images. This means my options are limited.
      That said, I do choose what I believe is most appropriate from the available options. Unfortunately, until I either charge for every video or the selection of images becomes more diverse, this is the best I can offer as a free service at the moment. I hope that clarifies the situation. However, I do agree that, unfortunately, what is available is limited.

      @j.p.p.1964 Anything else? Well this is a bit awkward. You seem upset, are you ok? It is tricky sometimes when that green-eyed monster rears its ugly head and spews all over your keyboard isn’t it? But let’s be real-if we were face to face, I bet you’d be less likely to throw that nastiness about.
      So, let’s talk about that comment of yours.
      With 25 years of experience in my field, I can assure you that my expertise is far more valuable than any remarks on my looks. So, how about we focus on something a bit more positive, like lifting women up with a compliment?
      Remember, my channel is all about keeping it respectful and inclusive. Your comments about my looks are strictly in the “not cool” section of my community guidelines.
      Consider this a gentle nudge to keep the compliments coming and the negativity at bay. Otherwise, I will have to send you to the naughty corner with a "Time Out" sticker. Trust me, it’s not a fun place to be! You and your channel will likely disappear after all and we would not want that would we? You can read more here support.google.com/youtube/answer/2802268?hl=en#:~:text=We%20may%20terminate%20your%20channel,dedicated%20to%20a%20policy%20violation.
      So, let's make a deal: I’ll promise to hold my comments about your inability to respect a professional woman when you see one, if you keep your keyboard monster in check. Sound fair?
