Yes to both. Shorads were not too near us at that part of the front line, but event list showed we had several SA-7s launched. We were flaring after all.
@@johnpancoast3236 none encountered this sortie, but they are in the theatre and plenty were encountered over the weekend along with SA-6, SA-2, SA-9. The SA-6 were particularly nasty.
@@MrCubanSpy Yeah, they always are. Good at sambushing. Tip fwiw; share a markpoint for targets. Much easier than trying to talk/walk someone onto a target.
@johnpancoast3236 We were flying F-16A Blk 15, which do not have the IDM required to share markpoints. In the C models , absolutely. Sharing Markpoints is game changing. As to the lack of Shlikas with the battalion - not sure, perhaps it has to do with how this theatre/campaign (ITO 80's "Peace for Galilee") is set up. We definitely came across them protecting high value targets.
Spend more time looking for ground targets! Seriously speaking, I have a lot of patience for slightly dated graphics when the base game is 26 years old and provides a much more satisfying experience than pretty shiny DCS.
@@qwertyuiop32935 it really comes down to the dynamic campaign and the AI. The dynamic campaign means you really feel like a pilot in the middle of an ongoing war - you can see the impact that your progress, or lack of, has on the overall campaign. If you destroy a MiG, that's one less aircraft the other side has. If you damage an airfield, they will have a lower sortie rate. If you hit a power plant, it will negatively affect enemy morale and production. If you hit an ammo dump or warehouse, it affects supply. There are several layers of AI including an overall command AI, and all layers are noticeably more competent than what DCS has to offer. Enemy flights will bait you, MiGs will scramble to you via GCI with radar off to surprise you sometimes, SAMs, unlike DCS, don't simply fire on you at max range. Often they will wait dormant until you're well within a kill zone and then light you up. There is also nothing like performing CAS over the front line and seeing ground battles raging below you, none of it scripted. For the price, definitely worth trying if you are at all curious.
It's the A Blk 15. See the debrief screen starting at 8:29 for confirmation. It's just BMS doesn't have the proper cockpit for an A yet so the Blk 30 cockpit is used as a stand in. The engine, and capabilities of the jet are modeled as an A Blk 15.

What about BMS is more involving/immersive than DCS? As a kid I played 4.0 Allied Force, and loved it.
