      Healing stream. Cloud burst to me always felt weird to have to press a skill and load it up. I prefer to heal when I press a skill. I've never been a high key pusher or mythic raider so feel like could burst never really had a chance to shine for me or add value.

    I'm glad you posted about this - I've always just followed build guides that show that Cloudburst has max HPS and just dealt with it. But, I decided to try Healing Stream and...less HPS be damned, it's just SO much simpler. I get the perspective of high-skill ceiling and satisfying ramping but I find it a lot more fun to just drop HS and then dps/deal w/ affix etc.

    A class buff could be elemental harmony, giving a different buff per class type. Tanks get dmg red (earth), dps get primary stat buff (fire), healers get additional mana regen (water). I think that sounds pretty cool

    Haven't played resto shaman since SL S3, but its good to see them doing well. Mad is absolutely correct about the meta perception. I've been maining aug with my push group but also playing a fair bit as preservation...and just like resto shaman, prevoker is way better than its subcreation meta c tier ranking. Pres can handle weekly 20-22's no problem and I've healed a couple 26-27's easily enough as well. Anyway, nice video, I would love to see a video about pres.

    I am only 5/9 mythic right now as a resto shaman, and I am finding out that healing stream totem is quite competitive in raid compared to cloudburst. Pretty surprising. Healing stream makes keys more afk-ish as far as healing goes, so I can just spend more time dpsing.

    I've gotten so used to CBT, switching to HST would just feel weird. I'm going to have to give it a try to see if it heals enough to keep it, and make keys/raids easier. I think I'd probably just run it in keys though. Great content as always, I actually just got the shaman geared up a bit, might have to take it for a spin, and see how it feels.

    6 year Resto shaman here. I was excited for shaman during the start of DF. Then I realized the talents trees took more away from the class then they appear to provide. The utility of shaman is the reason I love the class. I’m not sure if they were trying to cure button bloat or reduce utility. I’m still sour about the talent tree’s of Shaman. I agree with your thoughts about Cloudburst Totem. I will say, not having to cast healing stream for a modifier is a welcomed change. Weaving 3 to 4 buttons for a top off heal got old and scripted. Reduces complexity but casting should 8/10 times feel worth casting

    • @Theparadoxd7
      @Theparadoxd7 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      100% agree with that first half. The first impression was great compared to others then the class designer left and nobody took over or the person who did, literally did nothing and only made things worse. It feels like you are constantly starved for points and 1-2 more points would open the tree up so much more and all it would take would be to reduce the 2-4 point talents.
      And the nerf to Wellspring that made it unplayable still stings, who kills a talent completely when it did 45% what Wild Growth did BEFORE the nerf AND has twice the cd of WG.

    It is pretty situational if I use cbt or hst. I usually use cbt when I know there are phases where I need to pump tons of healing, for more than 10s.
    For content that just requires burst healing, or only light healing, I prefere hst. Since it gives me more time to dps.

    i'm Ele though i've resto'ed before. I watched the video cause I am thinking on picking it up as OS for raid. I used to like CB in raid... you know the damage points, movement points...managing isn't horrible, and it is engaging and super rewarding when you have a great burst. For keys... oof that level of micro management on top soo many ocrap moments and everything else (think someone else appropriately used the word chaos) is rough. Especially as an OS nice to hear healing stream is a player.

    I got my disc priest to 2k m+ in st and s3. I'm an altaholic leading the pug life. I chose disc priest because of its damage focus and atonement healing. It seemed to make sense for m+ play. I had my resto shaman shelved.
    Having gotten 3 toons to 2k and one to 2.5k, I decided to dust off the shaman.
    I am still gearing the shaman (only 448 ilevel at the moment). However I am reminded how much I like a healer that actually fills health bars with healing spells.
    And all the utility you mentioned is spot on. And I am doing plenty of damage too. Ironically better dps than my disc priest.
    I have been running cloud burst but I doubt I am using it correctly. I am likely to try healing stream to see how it goes.
    I think it would help keep dps at 50%+ hp on its own so I could focus more on interrupts and control, and then getting more flame shocks out and doing more dps.
    I am likely to only push to 2k on the shaman so I don't need the min/max.
    Thank you for the video.

    CBT feels a lot better, A lot of deaths don't feel like rot deaths they feel more from back-to-back large damage events. Sadly, HST doesn't help with that much, so while CBT is a little bit more to manage, the reward of topping people off right after a large damage event is well worth the extra effort.

    I don't do high keys, mostly around 20's. I'm running healing stream at the moment mostly just because the value you get out of cloudburst is pretty low in my opinion unless there is going to be alot of consistent damage. Usually I just wind up with a cloudburst that really isn't that charged anyway. Healing stream helps create more time for dps, and resto can blast if you have time to do a rotation. I feel like maybe reducing the duration of cloudburst and increasing the healing it does would make it more impactful to use.

    I only get use out of coulburst in 20 tyrranicals or progression raiding. Most of the time M+ pugs are too unpredictable and by the time I fill a cloudburst I've already healed everyone up and the dmg is over. In a raid on farm, people aren't taking that much damage and other healers are sniping each other. Majority of the time I get more value out of healing stream.
    What I wish restoshaman had was an external. Like if we could use our dmg reduction totem, or a tank external. There are a lot of DKs or DHs that are still figuring things out and I just can't help them when they're dying.

    For me beeing able to play with healing stream totem that is definitly easier than cloudburst is a great thing. Idk maybe im just getting old and became bad at the game but in DF healing is kinda overwhelming for me despite maning heal for past 10 years. I mean the amount of diffrent buttons I have to use is too much. Like literally i have keybinds on my healbot for left click, middle click, right click, all od those with shift, all od those with ctrl and all of those with ctrl+shift, also use mouse with 2 additional buttons that I use for mouseovers like healing rain or essfloresence and Im still not having enough keybinds to actually make use of all the spells that are meta so i just spec into as many passives as possible. So having to also think of minmaxing cloudburst is more annoying than rewarding for me.

    Many people are surprised of the value of RShaman. Especially on interrupts and stuns. That is a LOT of damage prevented.
    Unfortunately, the problem with RShaman is that people copy the DPS centric talents of the top 0.1% and cant pass the basic healer checks. Never mind interrupts and such.
    Icy-Veins should post a talent build with out Stormkeepr and Lava Surge for new people. So they can focus on HPS and Interrupts, which is the main value of RShaman in lower keys. Not DPS.
    As for HST vs CBT:
    I am progressing through 25s in M+ and I tried Healing Stream. Its not worth it. No matter how much they buff it.
    So, HS totem heals 1 person when we have 3 powerful ST spot heals. However, we only have 1 AoE heal (Chain Heal) that needs to be casted. And because of that, we need a tool to heal the party FAST.
    Simply HS does not cut it in certain bosses in tyranical. I have been trying EB25 for example, and the last 2 bosses are significantly harder with out CB totem. I would say, impossible with out it. And there are many more instances of burst AoE that needs to be dealt.
    And honestly, if Blizz wants HS totem to be used they have to stop buffing it. What they need to do is change the talent Living Stream. It needs to REDUCE the healing by 10% every time it heals. If they do that, then HS would be useful.

  • @CoffeeBeerHeals
    @CoffeeBeerHeals 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    From a purely m+ perspective, I feel like cbt vs hst is sort of a fake argument. Last season we had a pretty set timer of damage taken off 15 or 30 seconds depending on the boss and usually if it was 30 it was big up front with a big dot. This season I feel like a lot of big damage we face is easy to heal through, it’s just hard to live the initial hit. I think HST helps more with unexpected trash damage but the issue still remains living damage for resto shaman.
    The huge s2 synergy of tier, pwave, cbt is mostly gone now so I think it makes more sense to get on board with a less cd oriented healing style like rdruid, which has 2 1 min healing cds and we can see how well they’re doing in high end keys.
    I still think CBT is good and has its own use, but I think making it more valuable than hst is more work then most players are capable of doing in an M+ setting

  • @Synesthesia-r9

    I've always preferred HST over CBT, I've played with both extensively but more often than not when using CBT it is either a wasted cast that gets no value, or I am too busy healing to remember to pop it at an optimal time leading to massive overhealing. I've tested both right at the start of season 3 (before the two buffs to HST) and even then I was netting more healing overall with it. Now it's just god tier and the biggest benefit of taking HST is it frees up globals to DPS. I've been playing a passive/hot build and it's so so good (BgQAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIpJRSCJolElESJpIpEEUioEBi0kASiSSScgEA), I feel like a bursty Resto Druid.

  • @slawkoler11
    @slawkoler11 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    For m+ I rather have cloudburst, the burst dmg incoming from keys can get pretty insane and I rather have more control through cloudburst. For raid though... I would prefer healing stream. If I was a higher CE guild I would want cloudburst since the overhealing isn't as much, but right now when so much overhealing I just don't feel I get as good of a ramp with cloudburst unless I just mindlessly spam overhealing chain heals and I rather dps than spam. So harder content: cloudburst. Raid not super progressed: HS

    Haven't tried HST and I must admit not pressing CBT will be awkward. I've decided not to main rshaman this expansion/season, and it felt at times I was a bit mana starved in 20's (still below 460 ilvl). I would say that rshamans deserve vesper back with the CBT gameplay sort of gone!
    I totally agree with you that an average rshaman is a better option for weeklies than disc priests on the same level. The sheer amount of disc priests using PI randomly on pull in weeklies is disheartening.

    I think it's not nearly as simple as CBT or HST.
    They are both tools and both have value in different situations
    I like CBT in slots where there is continuous damage and you don't waste the CBT. For heroic (and definitely normal) raids I waste so many cbts because either I'm not filling them or I fill them and then there is nothing to heal. Part of that is my lack of skill TBH but still.
    Same for for m+ in low to mid keys (under 21) I drop a cbt and by the time it is full the pull is almost over and there is nothing to heal. In addition HST allows for more dps time since it will take care of minor dmg if you are in a pig and you want to keep everyone topped off to minimize risk of stupid deaths.
    CBT comes into its own in mythic raids and higher keys IMO, especially on tyrannical. There is enough damage to be healed that even if you mis-time the CBT you will not be overhealing as much. And if you're skilled, it becomes a mini CD every 30 sec. And the nicest part of CBT is it does allow for burst heals when dealing with painful affiexes and boss abilities

    I personally only play M+ and I enjoy CBT due to the burst healing when we move from pack to pack (it heals the party to full, always ready for the next pack).
    As for the Tier Set, it feels mostly like a bad joke for M+ but then again, all tier sets thus far have been underwhelming.

    I would like CBT if it would be 8seconds and use 40% of the healing done. The 15s build up feels ankward af. If there is nothing to heal and you just need to prepare for big bump, you are just overhealing for long as time

    Turned it off when you started talking about healing stream m8. Is shamans are forced into cloudburst because we lack emergency heals like revival, divine toll+daybreak. Healing surge was the only buff we got in the patch.

    had resto shaman as main now for 4 raids, cloudburst isnt that much harder than stream to use. It also eats into your other cooldowns. Been running a max passive healing build for m+ for ages. lets you focus on triage healing and dps more.

      Well no it's not "hard" to use but there's a big difference to "oh damage is coming in 16 sec better drop cbt now" or "damage is about to end better pop my cbt" compared to "press hst on cd".

    I don’t think CB is that complicated. Takes a little preplanning but no more than most healers. HST takes away the only interesting thing that shaman does.

    I enjoy passive things more than active things. I already have enough on my plate with other things, so when I lesson the amount of stuff on my plate so I can be in the moment n stuff n pay attention to my raiding I enjoy that more. I don't mind skill ceilings or floors, I just enjoy procs and passives more than actual gameplay stuff. I also hate CDs so as much as I can avoid as many CDs as possible, I will. I think all of them, both damage and healing, have way too much power in this and other games and honestly they should all be trimmed down and then the power should be put back in the favor of regular output outside of CDs. Not saying making them wet noodles but right now it's like 60% of every class/spec's power comes from CDs and I think that should be nerfed by 50% to make it so 30% of their actual power comes from CDs and then the other 70% would be in their sustained. That or make CDs much weaker but in exchange make them available way more often, either case. Instead of 3 minute CDs nerf them by 60-70% but give them 1 minute CDs. HST gameplay is a lot more fun than CBT.
