Earthbound is bar none one of my favorite games, and even if it wasn't, the final encounter with Giygas is so bone-chillingly disturbing that's it's permanently cemented in my brain as my favorite boss battle. This actually sounds genuinely unsettling, rather than just "deep echoey voice says things slowly". There's more to it than that. It stays true to the the character, with giygas completely ruining his own mind. He sounds childish at times.

He took inspiration from when Itoi as a child saw a copulation scene in a movie he wasn't supposed to see, and he misinterpreted it as rape and it traumatized him

@@mr.lemony3390 It makes me so WEIRDLY happy to see that people were terrified by that scream. It came from a very deep level, I was hurting so bad during 2011, and I guess it all came out during that moment.

Words can't describe how deeply disturbed I am at this moment. I've never played any of the earthbound games, but I know what the story is and I must say, giygas is truly the most horrific thing I have ever seen from a videogame, or possibly from any form of entertainment ever. Just the fact that he's not even aware of what he is or what's going on, he's just in constant pain as long as he exists and is in so much confusion, really makes me feel just as sad for him as I am terrified. Great job voice acting this. The voice got me so scared that I felt sick and wanted to vomit.

Anyone else noticed that Nintendo made one of the creepiest character in video games just by making a drawing and distortionating it
I'm actually embarrassed that it took me YEARS to realize it was a distorted, screaming face. I always saw a "Plague Doctor" type face with a beak.

i never got to play earthbound or was born when it was released but man its still nice to see the game getting love to do this day like with the "WHAT MEME" and yeah i think this is what i imagine giygas sound like most people try to make him sound as scary as possible but i think the more disturbing way he sounds here fits him

That scream came from a GUTTURAL level. I was in legitimate pain at the time, that was the worst year of my life, so I guess that's where it came from.
The only problem with your voice, is that even though I think it's cool. In the game Giygas doesn't have a voice, rather sending messages to ness about his attack or what he is saying.
Oh I know, but imagine that THAT voice is what Ness is hearing echo through his head.
You say that like giygas just texts ness instead of just talking or using telepathy, ness still has to hear it somehow

Giygas is already unsettling but this gave me the image of being in this huge unending liminal space where Giygas' form is just everywhere constantly morphing and shifting and you hear this voice...makes me realize how brave the characters are because that's horrifying to imagine standing in, let alone fighting it and knowing you're the only one who can stop it.
Someone mentioned that Porky was evil because he chose Giygas as a surrogate Father figure, someone who would give him power and security, but he turned insane just like everyone else.
Problem is, Ness and the gang NEVER got a chance to "tame" him because he escaped....so he was stuck that way. It put a lot into perspective, GOD I love Earthbound so much, thank you so much for your awesome comment.
