And to spill it all here, the way they made you leave home from a loving family in Earthbound was a way to make you realize how important family is. The evidence is quite clear if you managed to play Mother: Cognitive Dissonance(the addition to the Mother saga which takes place in between Mother 1 and Mother 2) where you would get the notion that he wanted to force all kinds of adulthood feelings out of him such as regret and remorse and eventually going back to being a little child who tends not to resort to those things.
