The reason the stingray changed colour is because when they settle into the sand, it covers them, making them appear lighter, when they swim away the sand comes off showing their real colour

I always upgrade trebbles on small lures, they are never strong enough and there are some really strong tiny ones from VMC, i just dont know the model at the moment but they are awsome and i never bend one of them.

Also, have you though about trying or using japanese style land-based rods? The 3m long ones (for the heavy stuff, not the super UL fishing)? Here in EU most of the heavy land-based fishos that I know (including me) only use those and they are over the top in comparison to the usual 8' long or so rods! You should really give them a try!

Hi Mate, I use 9'0 - 10'0 rods for my PE4 Tuna/Mackerel setup to get some extra distance with lighter lures, but for heavy I really like the fight (and working lures) with about a 7'9 - 8'3 rod. I never looked at the Azores before but those Islands look amazing!
@@Briggsy If you ever get a chance to go to the Azores, don't miss it!
Also, if you can, try using a 10'0 PE8-10 rod for the big big! You might be surprised with it. I have both the 7'9 - 8'3 and 10' heavy rods, and since I started using the 10' I don't really want the shorter ones.

Briggsy hello from Bali. Sorry it's been a while especially since my comment is going to get a bit snarky at daiwa, no reflection on you at all here because you're my hero for finally teaching me to tie an FG knot. Just wanted to say thank you before I crack on.
Man, can't believe daiwa is asking $23 for these UL lures. Especially considering the trebel hooks bent without a lot of effort and the assist hook somehow disappeared. Just goes to prove the adage that in the box hooks are shite, even from a name brand claiming to use BKK hooks. Those fish were pretty fired up so nearly anything emulating prawn would work I reckon. That said I'll be carving a replica of the slippery dog right away. Yeah, I solved my expensive lure habit by learning lure making during the pandemic. Idle hands are the devil's wanker as they say.

How long are you guys going to be back together?
Hi Mate, the last few films are from a couple days out on the islands together, Cavy stayed up with brooksy a bit longer and i had to come back to the kids. Very fun trip though it was great to catch up with the boys. There's another couple films from this trip coming out on my channel in the next weeks (once I edit them) Yew!

I love topwater fishing! Do you think you will ever try fly fishing? Those shallow flats would be perfect spots for it.
I tried once and I felt very uncoordinated haha, I love the simplicity of spin gear and all the lure types but I’m always open to trying new styles of fishing so you never know I might get into it one day 👍

How long of a leader should I put on when fishing the flats?
Hi Mate, I like to cast with my leader knot sitting on my first guide so I don’t go crazy on leader length. I prolly do about 2.5-3m on this rod.
