    I take the Presso 2021 1000S-P out for the first look. Not a lot to say except it is a fantastic reel...smooth as butter and low inertia. Check out the following links to see more about the reel.

    Thank you for the review. Bought one after watching your review. I have the 2014 presso and the 2017 presso limited and I love fishing with those reels. I Haven’t fished with the new presso yet but I’m sure it will be as enjoyable as the previous models.

    I got mine (2000ss) 2 weeks ago and started to fish trout with it. Compared to the Shimano vanquish- it is much more superior. The initial inertia is amazing and it has a solid feel. The monocoque gear body and looks are a stout appearance. I paired it with my Major Craft 6'3 Fine Tail Banschee ultra light rod. It is a perfect match with all the colors!

  • @fongvang935

    Pretty awesome reel. Smooth as butter, almost as good as my 18 Exist LT 2500. I was lucky to get mines for $200, never seen water, from a guy who needed to sell it to pay some bills.

    Randy, thanks for all the JDM eye candy you bring to us. Two questions for you - how do you spool line on your reel - specifically the light lines? You keeping reeling while the fish is pulling drag and I heard doing that will twist the line - is that true, how do you avoid that since your line always looks twist free? Thanks!

    • @troutmagnetman
      @troutmagnetman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching. I use this method th-cam.com/video/5pGmbpnv4b4/w-d-xo.html It works even spooling braid. The high end JDM braids go on a reel much better than the cheaper braid. Even though the PE line I am using breaks at 5.6# my leader is a true 2# test FC. So a loose drag is imperative in case I hook a big fish. I don't get line twist. Big part of why I do not is the reels I use. All reels I use have 2 line roller bearings....it does make a big difference. Drag settings are a big balancing act when using true light lines. The Ester line I use breaks at 1.8# and I use a leader so my knot strength is less than 1.8#. Not a lot of room for error.

      @TheUnlistedOne 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@troutmagnetman Thanks for the reply. The shoe trick is awesome .. I will try this next time. I spool just like you do .... but I use my wife just like you did in the past.. ha ha. My wife will appreciate your tip very much. And I agree with you, this is the most efficient way to spool without line twist.
      I will look for dual line roller bearing reels next time I buy one.

    great news on the light resistance, Randy! Did you have some line from the spool sticking out and hitting the bail when u were spinning the reel in the video? I heard some noise like that..

    Nice review! However, I always like to see a picture of the box it came in. The Japanese have so many models it is nice to see the side that shows the bearing count and all the other stuff. Since you fish with both Daiwa and Shimano reels do you have any thoughts on the differences?

    • @troutmagnetman
      @troutmagnetman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks....I agree with you. Was in too big of a hurry when I did this video. What I notice in the differences of the two companies is it seems to me Daiwa offers more..and in my opinion....better reels in the medium price range. The drag clickers definitely are louder on Shimano reels.

    Thank you for the review! Love the Presso 14 and 17. Lucky for me I watched your video. I was able to cancel my order for the 21 CHINA presso and get a 1000 JDM Airity. I think it"s extremally dishonest that Daiwa and most retailers hid the fact the new Presso is now made in china. I'm not paying $400 to see if this is going to last as long as my JDM Presso's.

    • @troutmagnetman
      @troutmagnetman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. Only time will tell if QC issues will come in to play on the Presso. Having seen a Chinese made Luvias and comparing it to my made in Japan Luvias I see no difference at all. I do not own a Vanquish so it is hard for me to compare. As to comparison of the Presso to the Airity I don't feel one can compare reels that are 100 dollars apart in price. The past made in Japan model reels are in my opinion higher quality than the LT line of reels. I have a 2017 Certate...several 2015 Luvias reels that I am comparing. For instance the rubber seal for the waterproof drag on the older models are higher quality. Keep in mind my thinking may be swayed by the heavier weight of the older models. The metal parts on the new LT reels is much thinner than the old reels. In the end though I think the new LT reels are well made and I have to say I do prefer the lighter reels. I have 4 Ballistic FW reels that have lanee 1000's of fish and they are made in China. They are as smooth as the day I took them out of the box. I prefer the reels to be made in Japan but I think we are seeing a trend that in time only the top end reels will still be made in Japan.
