I love doing both the laundry and dishes 😂 so calming and mind numbing just what u need before and after an overstimulation day 😅 I have my best ideas when I fold my laundry and do the dishes by hand
Me too! Most people don't get it and they rather buy all kinds of perfumed stuff (softener, laundry perfume,...) to mask the smell instead of keeping their machine clean. 🤢
Same here. I open the door wide while the clothes are drying, then after I've removed them from the dryer I close the washer door until it is slightly ajar. The only time it is completely closed is when it is running.
Got a new washer/dryer set and reading through the manual (yes, I am that person) I saw they recommend leaving the washer door or lid open for a day to let it thoroughly dry out to prevent mildew growing in the machine. Our last machines lasted 27 years and I plan to get at least 20 out of these. Cleaning and airing the machines just as regular maintenance are what the dealer said made them last so long. Think of it like cleaning your shower or tub; dirt, body oils, and soap scum need to be cleaned off of both. Great video! Love seeing your baby's artwork framed on the wall. :)
Yes I always wash new stuff before using it. I would choose to have someone sweep, mop and vacuum my floors. I don’t mind laundry or dishes. ❤❤ Love the channel, TY for the excellent laundry tips.
Go Riley!! 💙 I'm fine with dishes or laundry. Ever since i started doing one load a day years ago never had a problem. Dishes are like giving your silverware and spoons a bath. Just give me hot sudsy water, some music and I'm good. Now if you don't rinse your stuff first we have a problem! I like clean dish water!
Yes, always wash new clothes before wearing! I love doing laundry, I mean, how hard is it? You throw your items into one machine, then put them in another and then hang them up. We don't have to scrub them on a rock, then put them through the ringer and then hang to dry!!! Love Rileys pic😁 I am not finding info on your fav fabric rinse. Can you let me know? Thx
Love the artwork! For me I don't mind dishes or laundry, what I hate is putting them away! It's super easy if you have a dishwasher to just, ya know, load the dishes. I just hate how long it takes to put both the dishes away and to fold and put laundry away. Now, if we're handwashing dishes, or laundry, I'll do laundry all day long!
I ALWAYS wash new clothes, sheets, towels (anything fabric!) before using/wearing, for sure! And, hands down I would LOVE for someone to do my laundry, because I can't stand it!😝 I actually don't mind doing dishes, it's kind of relaxing and therapeutic for me. 😁
I delay start my washer every night (with that day's clothing from everyone in the house) to run at 6 am. Then, when I get home from dropping the kids at school in the morning, I switch to dryer and fold around lunchtime. I am always washing yesterday's clothing today. Game changer!
Tip from the guy who cleans out my lint trap and hoses once/yr (worth $100!): Wash the lint trap once a month with soap and water, especially if you use dryer sheets, which contain animal fat. Along with removing lint after every load, this step keeps your lint trap working better. If you have anyone who doesn’t get why the lint trap needs to be cleaned of lint after each load, go to a door or window that has a screen. This works especially well on a windy day. Have them place their hand in front of the closed window. No air should come through (if air is coming thru, that’s a whole other problem). Then expose the screen and do the same thing. An unclean trap is like the window is closed. Nothing gets through.
I generally wash new clothes before I wear them, always under garments. I love my delayed wash cycle, for the reasons you stated😀Didn't know I shouldn't use wool dryer balls for all items. I use to hate doing my dishes. Now it's my laundry instead. That's the task that I wish someone else would do. I learned so much in this video! Thanks!!
I despise dishes. I love doing the laundry. I would gladly pay someone to do my dishes! LOVE LOVE LOVE your channel! You inspire me to clean and try new ideas and they are super helpful tips! :)
Thanks for mentioning the use of a delicates bag for socks. This trick can also be used for other items if you happen to hang clothes to dry. It's ALWAYS easier to hang clothes after sorting like-with-like, so having this already done in a delicates bag saves a lot of time later--think small items like socks, underwear, washcloths, even hand towels. The idea is to SORT before you wash. If you sort as you add to the dirty laundry, then it's already done. It may seem like an odd trick at first, but I never have to look for small items in the wash. It's great!
12:40 Thanks Melissa for reminding this. I used to see launders in my hometown ( back in India) at my grandparents place do this during my childhood. Never realized its importance. But, most of the clothes never needed ironing and thanks to the sun, felt crisp and fresh.
Great tips. I'm in my late 60's and proof you can teach an old dog new tricks. I learned a few things with this video! I do see Ryan's picture. Ryan, you have talent. Thanks again.
I love the extra rinse cycle on my he washer. And I also love how well my he machine spins my laundry. Practically dry. Actually neither. I would rather just do my own laundry and dishes. I’m kinda picky. As always nice to see you. Thanks for the video 😊
I’m in the UK and since I became medically blind both laundry and washing up became a bit hit and miss… so I automatically add stain remover to my whites (underwear), all my trousers/ T-shirts are the same types of fabric/ colours (trousers are all dark colours, T-shirts are medium depth colour and since sighted people can’t see me coming I’m replacing older T-shirts (mostly green) with bright colours (bright orange/ pink)- though how they can’t see a white cane that’s almost as tall as I 🤷♀️… and I bought a small “table top” dishwasher to stop finding I’d missed a bit when I’d washed up. Bonus being washing up is almost fun now- and matching outfits is a lot easier because any T-shirt an trousers combination works. And I can remain independent
I ALWAYS wash new clothes before wearing! I will wash dishes and do laundry all day, but would love to assign drying dishes to someone else! Riley’s art work is stunning; I believe she will be 6 soon and I remember your sweet little one was unintentionally born at home!! Thanks for great information about using delay start on the washer!
I always, always, always wash new clothes before putting them on my body. I've read/seen some horrid stories of people getting bacterial infections on their skin that were hard to treat/cure. And yes, dishes, do my dishes...do ALL the dishes for me, every day, thankyouverymuch.
I can say that I knew all of this! Definitely love doing the laundry, but also like to do dishes even more cause I have a dishwasher. My two favorite chores actually.
At 70 I would prefer someone to do my laundry. I don't mind dishes because there is only 2 of us and although I cook from scratch every meal I don't use a don of pots or dishes each day. We do however go through more clothes! Gardening makes for dirty clothes and more daily changes. Love Riley's art!😊. I do use the extra spin on my permapress cycle and I love the steam function.
Hello Linda I've never seen another LM! My Mills clan is from SC. I absolutely wash everything before wearing it. Weirdly enough, I actually chose not to follow someone on TikTok because they put on a garment straight from the shopping bag. She and I could not be friends, lol.
Love doing the dishes. I go to my friends houses and do the dishes. I have no idea why I enjoy it so much. I like the smell of clean clothes, but I absolutely hate having to put them all away.
I use the quick cycle for everyday clothes during the winter. Have used it for years. I can extend my quick cycle to 25 mins. For my husband and I, this is enough. During the summer our clothes are dirtier, I use the longer cycle I use the longer cycles for dirty and bulky clothes.
Great tips. I tumble dry all my clothes & don’t buy any that can’t be tumble dried. I mainly buy all my clothes from M&S, as they are great quality & can be tumble dried. A lot of people in the UK are obsessed with putting their washing on the line, especially in the summer. Not me. I could never put my washing machine or tumble dryer on during the night, in case it would disturb my neighbour. Also, I would worry about any electrical faults. The noise from dryer balls would really irritate me, I use dryer sheets instead. I wouldn’t like anyone doing my washing for me. They can load the dishwasher instead. I love Riley’s picture. She’s very talented. x
I hate matching up all my son’s socks and hate folding fitted sheets, so I would rather have someone do my laundry. Than my dishes. Another thing I have found that helps my laundry to dry faster in the dryer is to throw a dry bath towel in with the wet laundry. It absorbs a lot of moisture.
Putting about 1/2cup vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser works the same as the rinse stuff for odors, at a much cheaper rate. *Added bonus: it also removes fabric softener buildup that brings towel absorbency way down.
I used vinegar until I learned that it weakens the seals in the washer so I use it as seldom as possible. Manuals warn against using vinegar. Those seals are very expensive to replace! I had one rip as I was removing clean clothes. 😢
I do use the extra spin cycle for comforters etc, yes - wish I had a timer on the washer to soak for a bit but I can set a timer ⏲️ wow dryer balls decreases static? Oh I am gonna look for them! I started the periodic vinegar solution for my t-shirts - thank you for the sweat on t-shirts advice 👍🏼oh geez love the missing sock solution - I suffer through both dishes and laundry with equal non-existent enthusiasm 😂 I like clean 👍🏼
Hang dry tip: if using a line hang on the side seam not the shoulder or hem. It drys way faster and I never get those clothes pin bumps even when my kids help hang it out. Plus I don't have to worry about the line sagging and stuff touching the ground 😁
I prefer to wash new garments before wearing them! Between laundry and dishes I choose laundry 😩 but having lots of tile I would actually LOVE floors the most!
I’ve stopped using fabric softener and my clothes are just the same. I’ve also heard that using softener can damage your machine over time. My washer has it as an optional choice.
Thank you for this wonderful video! If you don't have a STEAM cycle on your dryer, put in a clean, wet washcloth or hand towel then turn it on for about ten minutes. Sorry, but I am not putting dirty laundry in the dryer before washing it.
I have a large laundry room with a glass pocket door. Above the door I have a ledge shelf with my 3 kids art projects of trinkets (not paper). They are now 27 (married), 25 (doing residency in city), and 19 (away at school). Lol. I guess they’ll slowly be replaced with my future grandchildren’s artwork.
You don't need a stream setting on the dryer. You can throw the clothes in there with a handful of ice cubes. I tried it the other day with a few shirts i forgot to hang up. It worked. Try crushed ice though so it doesn't make so much noise until it melts.
Yes, I saw the artwork. And I must be a bigger weirdo than you (said really nicely) - I love doing laundry, and hanging the clothes on the line so neatly that I never have to iron anything (I don't even know if I still have an ironing board). I also don't mind doing the dishes at all. The two chores I genuinely hate doing are dusting and hoovering (and yeah, I love my Dyson but still hate using it).
Tip: when I put sheets or duvet covers in the dryer they ball up, put the dryer setting on SMALL LOAD. It reverses the drum and the items don’t ball up.

8:25 in video. What is the laundry rinse you suggest. I did not see a link 8:25
@@lisaeaves3692I was looking for that too. Thank you for asking.
Yes what’s the laundry rinse you recommend?
Thanks for your helpful tips! Can you make a clip on paper detergent??
I worked at a clothing store for a few years. All I'm going to say is I will always wash new clothing first before wearing them.
I would prefer to have someone do my dishes. I don't like doing laundry, but laundry is personal. Having your daughter's artwork in the laundry room must make you smile.
I absolutely wash new clothes before I put them on!
My husband is feral and used to sleep in the dirt. But he requires all new clothing be washed before he will even try it on lol
Amen!
I won’t even try on a swimsuit without my undies on. Needless to say, EVERYTHING gets washed before I will wear it.
So do I!!

Old school steam dryer - very damp towel with items to be steamed. This usually generates enough steam to refresh things. Not efficient, but handy.
💯! I go old school with this too!
I keep water in a spray bottle near my cellar laundry (no sink). I will spray a facecloth and toss it in with any dry but wrinkly clothes.
I swear by that idea. It will dry the Towel too. Cheaper dryer costs.

I love cleaning but loathe cooking. The luxury of a chef would be absolute bliss.
I enjoy doing both laundry and dishes. I catch myself humming and I feel content. Remembering this when Im looking for motivation is my struggle.
I set my schedule around laundry. Dishes on the other hand are my nemesis. And Riley's artwork is beautiful.

Thanks for the love on Riley's art! Your husband must be a pro at dish duty!
Riley's art is awesome! I enjoy washing dishes, so someone doing my laundry is preferable to me, especially if they will PUT THE LAUNDRY AWAY.

Great artwork! Definitely the dishes.
What a super video! Laundry is not a pleasant job in my opinion BUT the satisfaction of viewing the empty wash basket means everything!
I can say that I knew all of this! Definitely love doing the laundry, but also like to do dishes even more cause I have a dishwasher. My two favorite chores actually.
Choice of dishes or laundry - laundry. My dishwasher does most of the dishes. But laundry or dusting - dusting. And Riley is quite the artist.
Riley’s artwork is beautiful. I prefer to have someone do the dishes.😊

Riley's Art - definitely someone doing the dishes.
DEFINITELY dishes done for me please! Nice artwork! Cute cat!
I use the quick cycle for everyday clothes during the winter. Have used it for years.
I can extend my quick cycle to 25 mins. For my husband and I, this is enough.
During the summer our clothes are dirtier, I use the longer cycle
I use the longer cycles for dirty and bulky clothes.
Thanks for the tips. I’m going to try the dryer sheet tip for our darks because I have 4 cats, the rinse additive and to utilize the quick wash.
This video was so good and so enjoyable! Love this!!

Some please do my dishes!! I enjoy doing laundry. I love to wash new items before I wear them. What is your favorite fabric rinse?
RIley's GREAT artwork!!!!
I saw Riley's artwork, i like doing laundry and dishes now that i'm older, i find doing either relaxing.😅
Tip: when I put sheets or duvet covers in the dryer they ball up, put the dryer setting on SMALL LOAD. It reverses the drum and the items don’t ball up.
I like doing laundry and dishes
I’ll do laundry all day. I’ll cook, too! Just so my dishes and clean up the kitchen, please!!
