Love all your great tips!! My grandmother told me hot water might set a stain into clothes. Many of my clothes are washed in cold water only & small amounts of gentle soap & cool setting on the dryer so they don’t fade. I have clothes from 1980s that look new. Thank you again for your helpful ideas! 😊🦋
While this sounds generally fine (especially about drying), my front load washer used to reek if you let stuff sit for more than a few hours. Turns out, my “cold water” wasn’t dissolving all the soap very well which was feeding mold/bacteria in the washing machine. I switched to washing on warm and all of the “smell” issues went away.

I must say: If you wash exceptionally greasy, blue collar work clothes at home, you know that cold wash is a nightmare… even with Tide Cold (all I use), cold temps essentially seal and solidify the grease on my hubby’s blue collar work clothes. Hot water pulls it out (and very well, at that). I definitely agree that the majority of loads do just as well (better even) on cold, but heavy duty grease, and whitening jobs, really need their hot temps!
My fav additive is cleaning vinegar. While caring for my mom I learned that it REALLY lifts BO, and bodily fluids. Started using it with our workout clothes and it's a game changer and money $aver. I ditched oxiclean.
My laundry game has changed so much, all because of you. I still use laundry pods because it's so much easier; as a wheelchair user, trying to fill those cups in the dispenser is always a challenge. I use the enzyme cleaner you recommended and it works great! I also have oxyclean and keep vinegar in the drawer as well. I give my clothes a snap when going from the washer to the dryer. I stopped using fabric softener and use wool dryer balls. I have a microfiber cloth on a hook on the side of my washer and when laundry is done, I clean the drum and the silicone rim. Since not using fabric softener, I've missed the scent in my clothes, but now I have something to try - that new Downy product looks promising. Thank you, Melissa!
I highly - HIGHLY recommend laundry detergent sheets!! You just add 1 to the washing machine basin before you put in your clothes so you won't have to deal with adding liquid to the little detergent area AND you help the environment by not using the plastic containers that the liquid detergent or pods are sold in - PLUS the detergent sheets take up no space at all and aren't heavy.
Love all of your motivational tips! Today I have one for you.. I have a LOT of line dry items (bras, delicates and work clothing). Toweling them before hanging would take forever! My trick is to turn off the water supply to my washing machine after a load is complete, then I set the machine to the HEAVY load spin cycle. I let the machine do the work with centrifugal force, and my clothes dry indoors virtually overnight! No dripping fabrics.. so easy 😊
that Downy fabric rinse is no joke! I just used it in my dogs’ beds!! wow! I always used white vinegar before but there was always residual dog smell. the beds and laundry room smell fresh and clean but not perfumy if that makes any sense. I never buy anything people recommend but I’m glad I trusted you on this!!
I have two 65 pound furry dogs, so I use Fur Zappers in both my washer and dryer loads. Fur Zappers are these rubbery looking paw disks that rub across your clothes, picking up the pet hair from your socks and other fur trapping clothing articles. I actually use 5 of the Fur Zappers for my undie/sock load because we all wear socks in the house that really serve as floor sweepers! I swear by these to get rid of pet hair from even black socks!
Me too! It is a task that has a defined beginning and end. Visibly satisfying. Typically I do one load a day and I am never behind. It is my favorite household task.
I love it, too! I've always wondered why a majority of the people dispise it, when all we have to do is put the clothes in, add detergent, and push a few buttons. The machine washes them, not us! And it's easier if you have a dryer. I absolutely love shopping for detergent & operating the washing machine!
I use TruEarth sheets and dryer balls only! No empty jugs to landfill! We are just 2 seniors with no really dirty laundry! Works for us! I do shake out my clothes before going into the dryer, it cuts down on wrinkles! ❤️
I add washing soda to my laundry along with liquid detergent. To remove stains I use “brown” also called “szare” soap that I bring from Poland. It is a natural product that washes any stains from fruit to oils. I swear by it. I also use it to remove deodorant stains. I don’t use any other stain removing products. I also add white vinegar to wash towels to eliminate any smell. I don’t add anything smelly to my laundry and only use drying balls. I am very happy with the results. Thanks for all your tips.
I use cleaning sheets (thanks to you) and only use booster with hubby’s work clothes with vinegar added to rinse cycle. I hang my synthetic work uniform up to air dry; then press. I have very similar routine for scheduling as you, just us empty nesters so pretty easy to keep weekly routine. I love your micro fiber line of products, telling everyone about them. Such great quality, lasting strength.
We used to wash all our clothes at 30 degrees centigrade using the recommended amount of detergent and softener but our clothes always came out feeling slick and smelling musty, even after a further rinse and spin. We wear all our clothes until they are DIRTY and we freshen/spot clean between washes to extend the life of the clothes. We have a new machine (now 6 years old) and have soft water! We tried EVERYTHING before finally washing at 60 degrees centigrade and using HALF the recommended detergents/softeners. This is the only thing that gets our clothes clean and keeps them fresh. We air dry all our clothes/sheets year round and before, they were musty as heck, even dried outside on the line! Do what works best for your family - if you shower daily, don't work a manual job and wear your clothes once/twice before washing - you can probably get away with washing on cold. Otherwise, experiment with other temperatures, additional spins and rinses and HALF YOUR DETERGENTS/SOFTENERS! xx
I As reading this, i immediately recognized that soft water is the culprit. We added a water softener and found our bodies felt slick and felt like we couldn’t rinse off all the soap.
Just got two three packs of downy rinse and refresh at samsclub. And our new front loading washer that has a fabric softener dispenser is coming Thursday can’t wait. 😊
I clean houses for a living and a client uses true earth laundry strips. I found after awhile the cleaning rags( microfibre) were not cleaning great. They felt like they had build up of softener in them. I took them home and washed them with tide and made big difference
Tide, Tide or OxyClean stain remover, Fels Naptha (works better for me than Laundress), rarely bleach. Thanks for tip on 2-step stain removal. Line dry whenever weather permits for clothes to last longer and smell great.
I've recently returned to a front loader so a liquid detergent is the go, an Aldi product. I use white vinegar in the rinse cycle and cold water every load. I don't use or own a dryer as our Queensland Australia climate allows for air drying throughout the year. I occasionally use a booster with the white sheets and pillow slips.
I love doing it too. And dishes. The routine gives me stability. I don't consider myself to be overly brilliant, but laundry and dishes-yes! I can do this!
This was excellent! Instead of dryer sheets, I throw a clean dry bath towel in the dryer with the wet clothes. It kind of acts like the dryer balls. Also, when doing dress shirts, I only dry three or four at a time, and hang them up either as soon as the cycle ends, or a min before. Why? Not only do I hate ironing, I don’t even own an iron or ironing board.
Less detergent and softener is the key. I use Tide liquid detergent, downy beads, and bounce fabric softener sheets for my towels & linens. Spot treat all stains with Spray n Wash before placing them in your laundry bag or hamper, helps to keep your clothing stain - free. I only use Clorox bleach when needed which is never. I wash all my clothing inside out it helps to keep them from fading and snagging. Air dry your clothing only… Dry your towels and linens on a lower heat this way they come out fluffier and wrinkle-free. And wash your clothes once or twice a week you’ll never have a laundry backup problem. Happy laundering! 😊
I use all free and clear and have used it for decades. It got my sons nasty football gear clean every time. No fabric softener, I use wool dryer balls or vinegar when needed. Oxy clean on whites or when the laundry needs an extra boost. Shout for stain removal. I wash on cool or cold for clothes, hot for sheets and towels.
how hot/warm is your cool setting? i’m trying to see if mine is calibrated too warm. hard to noticed just by feeling the water because it’s summer and everything feels hot to me. i used a thermometer to measure the temp for the cool setting and it said 100 Fahrenheit, to be fair i forgot to calibrate the thermometer, but now im second guessing whether to keep using the cool cycle.
Lately I've been using the brown bottle of Pine-Sol in the softener section and Gain for soap, because my 2 sons' clothes got so stinky from their work this past summer and it got rid of their pit stains using an old toothbrush with the Pine Sol. Laundry use is on the back of the bottle. Worked out pretty well.
@@vaderladyl I have an environmental allergy to pine, would this effect me? It’s pine trees that I’m allergic to, not sure if the oil would cause the same reaction.
@@teeeff8337 You could be allergic. You could try a test patch which is a diluted pinesol and water solution, 1 teaspoon of pinesol, two of water and use a cotton ball and apply some solution on the inside of your arm and leave it for at least 30 mins to an hour or so, to see if you develop some kind of rash on the spot. If you do, you will know, wash it off thoroughly with soap and water and take allergy meds if you need them. Or you could wash and item with diluted pinesol and wear it after if you are willing to try. Some people are allergic to the scent and the resin but not the oils used diluted in the washing, but concentrated could be a problem.. My mother is one of them.
Great video! Wish the new Downy Rinse product came in an unscented version. Will try the cool setting today (not ready to go cold just yet 😉). To avoid overusing detergent I pour it into a spare bottle and combine it with water to create a diluted solution.
All my life I've washed my t-shirts, hoodies, anything I don't want shrinking in cold & then hang dry! They definitely last much longer. I had a repair man here cuz I blew a fuse in my dryer. He said always dry on as low heat as u can, clothes & the dryer will last much longer!
I use Truearth laundry strips with all my laundry, and I use Blueland laundry booster from time to time. I honestly never use stain remover (I rarely have stains) and I don’t use any fabric softener or dryer sheets at all
I use cold water only. Wash pods so I don't overdose. And Unstoppables. For stains I use Dasty stain remover. I hang dry all our laundry outside but under a roof in case of rain. Laundry always smells fresh that way 😄. I live in the tropics so it's warm all year round
Thank you for the great tips, I love how you snap the clothes into shape when they’re wet! Another laundry issue I have is all my blacks come out with white clumps of dust/lint on them. I have had this issue with 2 laundry machines now, even after I cleaned the machine. How do you deal with this? 🙏🏼🙏🏼
You mentioned that when you pull your clothes out you give them a snap, it’s also really good to do that same thing before you wash as well, doing this will help with pet hair and also you should do this to help with your clothes if that are matted meaning like sweaters that are folded at the sleeves like some ppl do or belly shirts that are tied in the front to undo it so that it also gets cleaned on the inside and finally socks that are inside out also. Another idea that is tried & tested is added a towel in the dryer to help clothes dry faster. Right now I’m testing vinegar to see if it helps to get stains out and it is a softener as well so no need for downy and cleans your washer during the cycle.
I use a free & clear detergent because our daughter has eczema. For that reason we stopped with dryer sheets or any fabric softeners or anything eith scent long ago. Wool dryer balls and oxiclean as laundry booster when needed.
I haven’t seen anyone mention delicates bags. I put bras, panties, socks (helps you not loose them), leggings, shirts, sweaters, all sorts of things in them. I always have at least 5 delicates bags in each load to keep things separate and from rubbing against each other.
I use Tide Sport with Febreze on workout gear and other items that are similar. I have been using All Free and Clear liquid for detergent. On occasion, I toss some oxi-clean powder in for odor or a cleaning boost. I use Downy fabric softener but not for workout clothes or towels. I am going to try Persil. I am anxious to try the Downy product you previewed here. Mostly, I carefully sort loads by fabric and color when I wash. I think that makes a huge difference. Sheets are washed with sheets, cotton knits with cotton knits, towels with towels, ect.
@@cleanmyspace you’re welcome and I look forward to your next video! One laundry tip I swear by is Sunlight Dishwashing soap. I’m talking that yellow liquid soap that goes on a sponge to hand wash dishes. Great for all stains, especially salad oils and grease. Just rub it in, no water necessary. Leave in until the garment goes in the wash (cold). Better than any stain remover.
I love your tips. I always use cold water when washing except when after working with sheep. It’ll either be 40 ti 60° Celsius. I never use fabric softener or anything else. I only use Omo washing powder. For stains; I use preen or sard spray. When I have very dirty clothes, I’ll soak in cold water and washing powder over night then wash next day. I always line dry and only use my dryer to finish off drying if I need to.
I was using All Free and Clear for years (sensitive skin), but recently switched back to a less common detergent I remembered my family using as a child called SA8. It comes in powder or liquid so I use whichever is more appropriate for a given load (powder for towels or lights, liquid for synthetic or delicate fabrics). I add powdered oxygen bleach as an additive in pretty much all loads except delicates. I add vinegar to the fabric softener tray if a load feels like it needs extra help getting residue off. For stain removal I either use a spray designed for the particular issue (enzyme) or dawn dish soap I gently treat the stain with directly after it happens if it is grease. I like the delicate bags lately to cut down on wear and tear for some of my work clothes, and I wash in extra hot water for towels and my scrubs. I am interested to see if there is much difference with mostly cold water, and to try the 'rinse aid' to see if it is better than vinegar. I have been struggling with odor on synthetics lately (clean the washer regularly) so perhaps that could help.
I love using icy tap cold water when washing my clothes. My clothes are so much cleaner & stains removed easier. Plus, I can wash all the colors I want together with nothing bleeding. How great!
Awesome tips. To also avoid build up in my machine I leave the door and detergent containers open to air dry. I use Woolite laundry detergents and Forever New laundry detergent for under garments.❤❤❤❤❤
🙋🏽♀️👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽Thanks so much..I literally just seen that fabric rinse, and left it at the store cause I didn't know what it was for...appreciate your knowledge, I'll be going back to get a bottle...take care ..ky
I switched from liquid to Tide powder. No more stinky water smell and it’s less expensive. Sometimes use white vinegar for softener. Always use wool dryer balls in dryer.
Thx for all the laundry tips. What do you think of the laundry sanitizer? Does it really work? I started to use it during pandemic. Laundry sanitizer and this new Downy rinse both go the fabric softener tray. What if I want to use them in the same wash, should I add each to different rinse cycles?
I stopped using vinegar in the rinse after I discovered it ruins the gaskets of the machine. I recently discovered Odoban for smelly things and works great. I put it in the softener dispenser.
Vinegar is my favorite cheap additive. It’s super effective at removing grime, slickness, bacteria, and funk It’s an old fashioned additive I just can’t go without!
Love your great videos, I have found the greatest laundry detergent ever after trying many different brands for many different years. Ultimately as a biologist this new one is my favorite, it's called Dirty Labs laundry detergent. It is an enzyme cleaner that is a green technology, low scent and works fantastic. I use borax as a laundry booster or you can buy one from Dirty labs. Keep up the good work and thanks so much for all your tips.
I'm in the UK so a little different I use Smol detergent I use Scentsy washer whiffs to add fragrance and use vanish oxy-action for stains. I wash on 30, on 28 min cycle unless it's bedding or towels they get the cycle for their material make up.
I love my wool dryer balls. Took care of static and softener. I will try the downy rinse and clear as rinsing agent to see if it improves the smell of wet clothes.
I use The Laundress and the Laundry Evangelist products. I only use vinegar in the softener dispenser. I use wool dryer balls in the dryer. Either of their oxygen bleach is so good. I usually use a T. in every load as well. My laundry has never been better. Also, I use just less or as directed amount of product. NEVER more!! These products are super concentrated so less is more!! I personally LOVE doing laundry. 🤩
I use Tide, but very little. I did research and found several websites that stated that we use way too much liquid detergents in our machines. I use a table spoon of detergent now, 2 if it is a really large load and have not had any issues. As for stains well I am still discovering tricks here and there. Sometime savon de marseille with a toothbrush, a bit of dawn dish soap for greasy stains usually works. Dryer balls for the dryer now, no more sheets or fabric softener. Will be looking for downy rinse and refresh for sure.
I do about 3 loads of laundry 🧺 a week and that is just for me alone since I wear specific workout clothes at the gym and night pajamas. I was really frustrated when the washer and dryer in my house 🏡 broke down last summer of 2021. I will definitely wash 🧼 in cold 🥶 water 💧 from now on to save my family money 💰.
thank you for asking this question. I can't stop my sheets and my bed cover from getting all rolled up in a ball also, looking forward to that video and sugestions
@@lclara2010 Hi I did see these clips on shark tank and I looked them up on Amazon , you clip them to your sheets on the corners and supposedly they don’t get tangled anymore. I just hate buying them and them not working, I wanted to see if she would suggest them. I might give in and get them.
I’m going to try the cold water on laundry day. I use tide pods and baking soda and a fabric softener. My clothes come clean and stain free and soft. I don’t have issues with my washer having an odor. Thanks for the tip ❤️
I use vanish roll on gel for stains works miracles I use vinegar as a softener and for white bedding and sheets I add a cup of baking soda to the drum for whiter whites.
I am doing the same as you, but mix liquid detergent and baking soda together, do you just put baking soda with clothes? Some people say baking soda could damage the washing machine, is this so?
great tips. I use tide pods (2 at most for really bug loads) a little baking soda, maybe some oxyclean. I have a habit of washing towels in hot water...but will try cold water now. Then I toss in the dryer with wool balls, and thats it.
I like to use 1/2 cup white vinegar in the rinse cycle. It freshens the clothing and it's great for taking away stinky smells You can also add it to the beginning of the wash cycle along with your detergent.
I use baking soda and vinegar in the wash and vinegar in the fabric softener tray It’s so much cheaper than those other name brand items The clothes are soft and smells great. No vinegar smell at all. The plus side is the washing machine gets it’s own cleaning. I use dishwashing liquid for greasy stains and peroxide for the others. In fact I will use a cup of peroxide to help brighten my whites and my sheets (instead of bleach)
First time I hear about using vinegar in a laundry machine. Can you tell me how it's used? Do i put it in the softner department and how much? Isn't vinegar like awfully smelling?? Is this the vinegar we eat?
@@kristenk708 I use the amount that my softener dispenser holds. The clothes come out smelling fresh without the fake chemicals You can buy a gallon of cleaning vinegar between $3-$5 on sale we also buy the baking soda in the huge bags you can find at Walmart pool area
Hi I use Nellies laundry soda, nellies brighter or Oxiclean. I also add baking soda. I also use the Laundresses stain remover and when needed hydrogen peroxide.
All my clothes are natural fabrics and I use all purpose vinegar instead of fabric softener. Baking soda also helps in the detergent tray to make clothes cleaner and softer. I like Arm & Hammer baking soda detergent too.
I just use regular Tide with Turbo Clean and a little Downy April showers fabric softener in my front loader. My clothes have never been better since I made the switch! 👏🏻
In addition to vinegar I may use borax to help breakdown to boost the cleaning or I may use baking sofa which fights odours and cleans the residue left in the machine. Thanks for the video.
I watched a bit live talk yesterday - Melissa was saying the actual amount of vinegar to washing machine water ratio needed is huge to make a difference. Therefore she now endorses this product that requires small amount.
To speed drying, I add a couple of clean, dry hand towels to the dryer. I keep a couple of dark towels and a couple of white towels in the laundry room just for the dryer. BTW, I found that a bath size towel was too big for this.
I love doing laundry 😂 I wash regular clothing and my Supima cotton sateen wave bedding in lukewarm water & sweaty clothes, socks, undies, towels etc. in hot. Tide with Oxy always. Tyler’s glamorous when I’m feeling bougie. Ink stains get chloroformed out (clorox + alcohol) Any other stain comes out with a Tide pretreatment. I use 2 oz detergent per xlg load & 3 rinse cycles. No fabric softener. Towels get steam sanitation cycle once every 6ish weeks.
I am using DIRTY LABS FREE & CLEAR because I have a lot of skin sensitivity. It’s difficult to find something that works. This new DOWNY product had scent, but it sounds interesting
I use true earth laundry sheets and dryer balls as well. No need for all those plastic jugs filling up the landfills. However, if you would like to add a nice smell to your clothes I have put essential oils like lavender on the dryer balls.
Can you provide some suggestions for actual product names for stain removal? I use Oxi Clean stain remover. Is this an enzymatic cleaner? What should I pair it with? Thanks for confirmation that cold water is good choice!
Wondering if this new downy is any better than white vinegar as the final rinse. I'd like to know more about the ingredients. I'll check it out at the store.
Hi Melissa! My husband and I recently switched from old maytag machines to a new lg washtower. Do you have any thoughts/advise on specifically pod usage for HE machines? I went down to using only one pod, where we previously have used two, but wasn't sure if that was still too much.

I don't use or own a dryer as our Queensland Australia climate allows for air drying throughout the year. I occasionally use a booster with the white sheets and pillow slips.
Amazingly helpful video. Thank you so much!!!
These are questions that I’ve had for so longgg!!!
I’m gonna go try these tips now ☺️🙏🏼
I love doing laundry. I have been doing laundry since 7 years old. I love folding clothes, towels etc.. And thanks for the great tips.
That's amazing! I wish I could say the same😂 😂
I love doing it too.
I’ve been using vinegar on my towels , work towels (hairstylist) and bedding. It’s fresh, sanitized and if you throw In scent beads. Chefs kiss..
Air dry your clothing only…
Dry your towels and linens on a lower heat this way they come out fluffier and wrinkle-free.
Same here
how hot/warm is your cool setting? i’m trying to see if mine is calibrated too warm. hard to noticed just by feeling the water because it’s summer and everything feels hot to me. i used a thermometer to measure the temp for the cool setting and it said 100 Fahrenheit, to be fair i forgot to calibrate the thermometer, but now im second guessing whether to keep using the cool cycle.
Yes very good product for smelly clothes especially sweat and urine smells but could be bad for sensitive skin people because of the pine oils in it.
@@vaderladyl I have an environmental allergy to pine, would this effect me? It’s pine trees that I’m allergic to, not sure if the oil would cause the same reaction.
@@teeeff8337 Most likely. The allergen in the pine tree is probably present in the oil as well.
@@FlyingSagittarius thanks
Great video! Wish the new Downy Rinse product came in an unscented version. Will try the cool setting today (not ready to go cold just yet 😉). To avoid overusing detergent I pour it into a spare bottle and combine it with water to create a diluted solution.
Very good tips that will be using this Saturday, day to do laundry; thank you Melissa por always sharing the best tips, you are #1 !!!! .
You are so welcome! Thanks for your support!
All my life I've washed my t-shirts, hoodies, anything I don't want shrinking in cold & then hang dry! They definitely last much longer. I had a repair man here cuz I blew a fuse in my dryer. He said always dry on as low heat as u can, clothes & the dryer will last much longer!
I love this ! Thank you so much. We moved from a home with city water to a home with a well, big adjustment.
You're so welcome and congrats on the move!
Yea ❤ I love using cold water to wash clothes. And the sunshine is good for it too.
👏 👏
Thank you for the great tips, I love how you snap the clothes into shape when they’re wet!
Another laundry issue I have is all my blacks come out with white clumps of dust/lint on them. I have had this issue with 2 laundry machines now, even after I cleaned the machine. How do you deal with this? 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hi, I switched to a liquid detergent and VOILA! black clothes come out beautiful 😁
Try cleaning your lint holder for the machine occasionally and also the dryer after each wash
Thanks so much for sharing this info! I use Tide Pods, Oxiclean and Dawn dish detergent on grease spots!
I had the wrinkling problems and thanks, now i know how to deal that.
That's awesome! Glad I can help😊
Dude! I gotta try the Downy! Thank you for these tips!
You bet and yes it's definitely a product that's worth trying😊
I put a little vinegar in the rinse cycle and it does the same thing it sounds like the fancy Downy product!
Thanks for the clear and practical advice!
Glad to hear you recommend cold water washing. I ONLY use cold water and have never had any issues with my laundry not coming out clean.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I use a free & clear detergent because our daughter has eczema. For that reason we stopped with dryer sheets or any fabric softeners or anything eith scent long ago. Wool dryer balls and oxiclean as laundry booster when needed.
Thanks for sharing!
I haven’t seen anyone mention delicates bags. I put bras, panties, socks (helps you not loose them), leggings, shirts, sweaters, all sorts of things in them. I always have at least 5 delicates bags in each load to keep things separate and from rubbing against each other.
Laundress soap and stain remover plus borax when needed. Vinegar for softener in wash and dryer balls in dryer. Thanks Melissa!
You're so welcome! Thanks for watching!
This is so incredibly informative!
Thanks for watching Monica!
Thank you and thank you for watching!
How great!
i am using what i have learned from you! 💜 happy for the results... thank you
Wonderful! Thank you for watching🥰
Awesome tips. To also avoid build up in my machine I leave the door and detergent containers open to air dry. I use Woolite laundry detergents and Forever New laundry detergent for under garments.❤❤❤❤❤
Great tip! Thanks for watching!
oooo. I’m gonna start leaving the detergent containers open too. That’s smart.
🙋🏽♀️👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽Thanks so much..I literally just seen that fabric rinse, and left it at the store cause I didn't know what it was for...appreciate your knowledge, I'll be going back to get a bottle...take care ..ky
I wish I could find it.
wish I could find it also...even though she is in Ontario I can not find it anywhere not even online
I use Tide and Downy Infusions (Calm). The products work well but, I'm willing to try the Rinse/Refresh. Thank you for sharing!
I switched from liquid to Tide powder. No more stinky water smell and it’s less expensive. Sometimes use white vinegar for softener. Always use wool dryer balls in dryer.
Great video as always, Melissa!
Never give up 💪😻🥞🎊💕
When I get a notification that you have downloaded a video, my happy time begins 📸❣️🍊♥️🥳😘🥰🤩❤️
Thanks for watching!
Thx for all the laundry tips. What do you think of the laundry sanitizer? Does it really work? I started to use it during pandemic. Laundry sanitizer and this new Downy rinse both go the fabric softener tray. What if I want to use them in the same wash, should I add each to different rinse cycles?
you could maybe add the sanitizer to the bleach tray?
I stopped using vinegar in the rinse after I discovered it ruins the gaskets of the machine. I recently discovered Odoban for smelly things and works great. I put it in the softener dispenser.
Vinegar is my favorite cheap additive. It’s super effective at removing grime, slickness, bacteria, and funk
It’s an old fashioned additive I just can’t go without!
Yes!! I have a bottle of Dirty Labs as well!! It is amazing!!
Where can I find it?
@@jodiz4725 I got it at Whole Foods
Thank you!!!
Thanks for this. I’m going to check it out. I don’t like the over scented detergents that are so popular now.
I also like and use borax.
I'm in the UK so a little different I use Smol detergent I use Scentsy washer whiffs to add fragrance and use vanish oxy-action for stains. I wash on 30, on 28 min cycle unless it's bedding or towels they get the cycle for their material make up.
Smol is the best cruelty free and envirinment friendly. And works.
I love my wool dryer balls. Took care of static and softener. I will try the downy rinse and clear as rinsing agent to see if it improves the smell of wet clothes.
Yes give it a try and let us know what you think!😊
I use The Laundress and the Laundry Evangelist products. I only use vinegar in the softener dispenser. I use wool dryer balls in the dryer. Either of their oxygen bleach is so good. I usually use a T. in every load as well. My laundry has never been better. Also, I use just less or as directed amount of product. NEVER more!! These products are super concentrated so less is more!! I personally LOVE doing laundry. 🤩
What is a T. ?
@@klimtkahlo Tablespoon
How do you get sheets from not getting all tangled up together in the dryer? But another great video!
thank you for asking this question.
@@lclara2010 wad free 20.00 on Amazon. Should we try? 🤷♀️ lol
I bought it!!!! I’ll give my reviews after! 🧐🧐🧐
@@lclara2010 I don’t think she answers questions!!🤷♀️🤷♀️
Thank you so much, I needed you to do a new laundry video!
Glad it was helpful!
I’m going to try the cold water on laundry day. I use tide pods and baking soda and a fabric softener. My clothes come clean and stain free and soft. I don’t have issues with my washer having an odor. Thanks for the tip ❤️
You're welcome and yes try washing with cold water!
My washing machine has been broken for three months now, and I miss it so badly. It’s finally getting fixed on Wednesday.
Hi Melissa I use vinegar for softer clothes how is this better or can or should I be able to use both??? I love Dawn products thanks Karen
i use white vinegar to rinse
great tips. I use tide pods (2 at most for really bug loads) a little baking soda, maybe some oxyclean. I have a habit of washing towels in hot water...but will try cold water now. Then I toss in the dryer with wool balls, and thats it.
I gotta try that Downy clear rinse.
I like to use 1/2 cup white vinegar in the rinse cycle. It freshens the clothing and it's great for taking away stinky smells You can also add it to the beginning of the wash cycle along with your detergent.
I use baking soda and vinegar in the wash and vinegar in the fabric softener tray
It’s so much cheaper than those other name brand items
The clothes are soft and smells great.
The clothes come out smelling fresh without the fake chemicals
You can buy a gallon of cleaning vinegar between $3-$5 on sale we also buy the baking soda in the huge bags you can find at Walmart pool area
Very informative....thanks for great tips...love to watch your videos...
Glad you like them!
I like Arm & Hammer baking soda detergent too.
how do you use vinegar ?
we have really hard water (well water) and I often add vinegar to the was because dark colors can actually look faded from the mineral deposits.
I want to change my washing game by purchasing an LG pair like yours! It’ll be good for my spine, too! 😅
so excited for these laundry hacks!
🥰🥰
I use tide free & clear, oxy clean when needed and wash in cold water. I add lysol laundry sanitizer when washing towels.
In the past you were a big fan of vinegar as a rinsing agent. How does the new Downy product work compared to the vinegar?
We add white distilled vinegar to the wash cycle for softness and smells.
I watched a bit live talk yesterday - Melissa was saying the actual amount of vinegar to washing machine water ratio needed is huge to make a difference. Therefore she now endorses this product that requires small amount.
I saw this in the store the other day and was wondering how it faired. Thanks for asking this, and thanks for the folks who answered.
How to remove/ prevent arm pit sweat stains?
Wondering if M might suggest using cold water in a carpet shampooer? I always use hot, but have some trouble with stains?
i think those carpet cleaning detergents are designed to work better with warm water but you might have better luck with cold.
To speed drying, I add a couple of clean, dry hand towels to the dryer. I keep a couple of dark towels and a couple of white towels in the laundry room just for the dryer. BTW, I found that a bath size towel was too big for this.
Mrs. Meyers Detergent, Vinegar for smells and clarification, and either dawn dish soap or 7th generation stain remover for stains
Thank you for the “snap” tip before throwing clothing to the dryer. I have some built up frustration to work out.
Happy to help! 😂😂
I love doing laundry 😂
I wash regular clothing and my Supima cotton sateen wave bedding in lukewarm water & sweaty clothes, socks, undies, towels etc. in hot.
Tide with Oxy always. Tyler’s glamorous when I’m feeling bougie.
Ink stains get chloroformed out (clorox + alcohol)
Any other stain comes out with a Tide pretreatment.
The Laundress has excellent stain removers and highly concentrated. A little goes a long way and they last!!
Wondering if this new downy is any better than white vinegar as the final rinse. I'd like to know more about the ingredients. I'll check it out at the store.
You can also check out an ingredient list on the Downy website!
Hi Melissa! My husband and I recently switched from old maytag machines to a new lg washtower. Do you have any thoughts/advise on specifically pod usage for HE machines? I went down to using only one pod, where we previously have used two, but wasn't sure if that was still too much.
Thanks Melissa I mostly do the same thing !! I try not to dry to much to!!
Do you have any tips on under eye puffiness?
What are your thoughts on wool balls, since you said you don’t you use fabric softener sheets?
