Your essential oil hack could be dangerous for skin. Really you should dilute a few drops of essential oil in a teaspoon/so of a base/carrier oil. SOME essential oils CAN be used directly on skin, others will burn your skin, & sometimes the damage can be permanent. Essential oils are 'natural', but you do need to follow some rules to make sure you are using them safely. I'm aware the way you were using it was different, but you still have to be careful to dilute it first. I'm a qualified aromatherapist btw. Another safer way is to use a sprinkle of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) in shoes, tap it out the next morning. Bicarb is great for eliminating odors and cleans & refreshes shoes. Same with carpets. Our daughter is allergic to/gets contact dermatitis to a lot of products, so we always make our own 'carpet powder' with plain old sodium bicarb and I often add food-safe orange extract, cinnamon powder or mint tea leaves to it to help 'perfume'/fragrance it. Works well!
Pro tip from a professional jeweler: use dish soap and cleaning ammonia instead of rubbing alcohol. This mimicks professional cleaning solution and won't ruin any jewelry. (Works even better in an ultrasonic cleaner too)
My daughter has played softball her entire life (now 17) travel ball, recreational ball, & school ball. I’d safely estimate that 90% of the teams she’s been on had WHITE as their either pant color or socks 🙄. One year while complaining about the insanity and trying to get and keep them clean all season long another mom told me to try a couple caps of MURPHY’S OIL (yes the hardwood cleaner) in the load of whites and they would come clean. I thought for sure that she was either crazy or without a doubt the oily residue left behind would make the laundry much worse but desperate I tried it and I was absolutely shocked at the results. It really works and doesn’t leave any residue. I actually use about 4 caps in all of my laundry now including my colors and my towels and it works amazingly. Way better than oxy clean or bleach or anything thing else I’ve ever tried. 😉
As a young adult, a friend of mine taught me to turn my clothes inside out before drying. In that way, the inside of the garment fades, while the outer side holds its color longer. I use a line now, and do the same thing.
I'm so HHHHHAPPPPPYYY that you are still making videos!!! I watched your video back years ago, then I had a new account and lost all my subscriptions. Now I own my own home, and I suddenly remember you!!! Thanks for all the great tips and tricks to keep our homes clean!
Another added benefit to your last hack about peppermint essential oil in the car: During this pandemic I drove a LOT less and there were times my car sat for weeks in the garage. I found out mice can find their way INTO your car (and mine is not an old model). My mechanic said there is no way to stop up all the potential openings. But mice are repelled by peppermint, so a few drops of peppermint on a cotton ball in your glove compartment has been enough to keep the mice out of my car. So no more nesting in my glove box. Whew!
Balsam Fir Oil is also a rodent repellent. There is a product made by “earthkind” for this reason, which has fir scented pouches of some kind of plant fibers. Of course these can be made at home. The box says that one bag lasts 30 days, (or just refresh the bags with a few drops of oil). They work great
This works great for travel trailers too. Our camper sits in outside storage, and while we sealed every possible entry point we could find, I like to spray peppermint oil in various places as well as open up a couple of bags of eucalyptus mint Epsom salts.
Hmmm e just spent 150.00 at the dealership for cleaning out a squirrel nest from the heating fan case in the hubbies truck…. Getting that minty cotton ball in there today❣️ thank you so much
After soaking the shower head don’t just pour the vinegar down the drain. You can reuse it to freshen up your drain by first pouring down a quarter to a half cup of baking soda before pouring the vinegar in. Leave it sit for an hour or overnight if you’d like and then pour some boiling water through the drain. This will help clean out any grease and gunk that may be building up and help leave your bathroom smelling fresher.
@@micheleruddle-evans6507The scent may not be great but vinegar is a great odor neutralizer. Letting it sit in the drain with baking soda would definitely help diminish bad odors.
The shower head tip is amazing! The other day, I was cleaning the house of one of my Turno clients. For those who don't know, Turno is an airbnb cleaning app, which means that lots of different people shower with the same shower head! I applied white vinegar when cleaning, and my client came to ask what I had done, because three guests had already praised the property's shower! Hahaha That tip is gold!
Lavender essential oil also retards mildew growth...and orange oil cuts grease, so they are both in the vinegar with a splash that I use to clean EVERYTHING! I clean professionally using Only home made solutions, so a Big Yay from me on the cleaning potions!
Not too scientific: I fill my spray bottle with up to 50/50 vinegar and water then add about 10-20 drops each of orange and lavender. I go heavy on the vinegar as I want to get oxygen bubbles when I add to baking soda for scrubbing and a bit of bleaching that's easy on my hands.
My dryer has a steam setting to reduce wrinkles. You might want to look closely at your dry settings and see if you have this setting and didn’t realize it 💕
As a runner who spends $120-$200 per pair of running shoes, it was physically painful to hear the suggestion of putting your shoes through the washer and dryer. Please, don’t do that. They use glue on parts of most shoes and the heat from the washer and dryer loosens the hold and eventually compromises the integrity of the rubber and foam components. Hand wash your shoes in cool to warm(not hot) water. I use oxyclean and laundry detergent. Then set them in front of a household fan. If you want to speed up the drying time, you can crumple newspaper’s and put it inside to help absorb extra water.
Wish I'd known that before I pulled out bits and pieces of broken/dried up shoe rubber from the drier and having to buy new ones. Then again, they were Very old and definitely cost less than 200. and I'm assuming minimizing the bumping around by hanging them in there would mitigate at least some damage. Willing to risk it with cheap sneakers but def not precious running shoes!
WOW, SUPER GOOD INFO. I AM A SINGLE GUY THAT CLEANS ALL BY MYSELF AND AM PARTICULAR IN MY HOME BEING CLEAN. YOUR INFO WAS AMAZING. THANK YOU. I HAVE SUBSCRIBED SO I CAN CONTINUE TO LEARN MORE.
I genuinely don’t know why but I subscribed within the first two minutes of you talking 😅 I just instantly trusted you and knew this was going to be a channel with hella good household tips. Thank you!
As a person who finds cleaning tasks exremely boring but trying to be an adult by dealing with her own sht anyways, i've found this video having full of brilliant info for me! Tysm❤
I like your cleaning hacks and i enjoy watching new ways to make cleaning easier. Of course being 76 yrs old I came across on my own, some of your hacks as well as my own. I liked using my vacuum cleaner and all of its tools. I would vacuum everything, (including the dogs and cats), once they got used to it, they simple loved it.
So the essential oil in the vacuum tip reminded me of my Mom! She used to have a big old canister vac and she'd spritz a bit of her perfume in the bag. The house always smelled like White Diamonds! :)
I didn't use Elizabeth Taylor's 🤍💎 but my husband at that time loved a really expensive parfume and I couldn't stand the smell on me so he would spray the vacuum and our furnace humidifier. 🙄😷🤢 I had forgotten all about that until I read your comment. LOL
I love your cleaning hacks! They have saved me so much time and I’m no longer frustrated with cleaning! I learned two new ones today. Keep the hacks coming!!
My fave hack: I don't use dryer sheets in the dryer but I pop them inside cushions on the couch and it gives a nice fresh scent for about 3 months, you can also add essential oils to the sheet but need to check on the couch material first 😁
I put them at the bottom of my small trash cans, bathroom, bedroom, desk cans. Change the liner, change the dryer sheet. Usually lasts a couple weeks before it runs out of scent.
My favorite DIY cleaning hack is equal parts hydrogen peroxide, dawn dish soap, and baking soda - this works on any stain on light colored clothing, but it absolutely removes the yellow under arm stains on men’s white undershirts. For years I struggled removing these yellow stains, and bleach only makes it worse. This is the only thing that has worked.
you mix all 3 ingredients, then apply and scrub gently with an out toothbrush and let sit for at least 1/2 hour. Then when you wash don’t use bleach - it actually doesn’t really whiten clothes all that well. The best whitener is a combo of 2 lemons and 1 cup each of washing soda and hydrogen peroxide - it is one of Melissa makers diy for whitener. However, I just use the juice from the lemons instead of the whole lemon (less messy that way).
For me, it's the dawn dish soap and vinegar solution. It's works for shower scum on tiles and tub surface, polishes the metal hardware and faucets. Spray all over shower, wait approx 15 minutes, then lightly scrub and rinse. Sparkling shine every time! Can also use in metal kitchen sink and faucets.
For removing wrinkles/steaming clothes in the dryer, instead of adding in an article of wet clothing I toss a few ice cubes in on top of the clothes and start it. Once I stop hearing the cubes bang around, I let them toss for a few more minutes and pull them out.
With a fair degree of skepticism, I tried your hack for cleaning the overhead hood filters as that's been one of my pet peaves for quite some time. I've always used degreaser and have not been fully satisfied with results. To my very pleasant surprise, this hack did work really well. I used a cookie baking sheet instead of the bucket for the added benefit of getting it all done at one time. A quick rinse with hot water and done. Thanky you.
My late grandma long before the Internet existed always talked about white vinegar for cleaning. As a tech, I always used rubbing alcohol on keyboards, mice, motherboards, etc and you only need a little bit because it dissipates quickly. I have used a chip brush on keyboards for years now to dust them off. Baking soda is great to get rid of odors on plastics and in glass jars so you can reuse them but it lightens the coatings on aluminum baking pans. I always put my earrings into the cap of rubbing alcohol before wearing them and then rinsed the cap out with hot water. I love the satisfaction of how things look after cleaning them and working with my hands in general. Thanks for sharing and have a great holiday.
If I was your son...only thing I'd be doing is being at home doing what you tell me to do with no back talk or arguing. I'd do all of the cleaning so you don't have to worry with it! I'd help out in all other areas. My only happiness would be to obey you and make you happy!
Love cleaning hacks! I’m watching this while cleaning a doctors office haha my mom has cleaned doctors offices my whole 27 years of life and my brothers and I always came with her as kids and fought over who got to clean what because we thought it was so fun to help clean the waiting rooms and sinks lol. This is my fav cleaning channel!
Oh that’s so funny , we use to go with my mom too , she cleaned a dentist office and I always wanted to do the waiting room , that was about 40 years ago , wow that was a long time ago lol how can tat be
Love your videos, I find that your tips and hacks actually make sense. I have always just put the 'overhead exhaust filter cover' into the dishwasher. No muss, no fuss!
My experience with adding tennis shoes to the dryer is it causes them to come apart at the soles. My suggestion: if you find a pair of tennis shoes you like, buy two pair. While one is drying, wear the other pair. Another tip: if you find great tennis shoes on sale for your kids, buy a couple sizes up. You won't be caught off guard when their shoes no longer fit.
Tip: A good way to clean between the keyboard keys: Use a makeup Fan Brush. Just get a cheap makeup fan brush, they fit right between the keys & you can use that to brush out all the dirt & if needed you can dip it in cleaning solution to kill germs.
Keep a couple of heavy towels just for your dryer. Before adding clothes to dryer, add the towels and let them get hot; then add your wet clothes. When you put those towels in you dryer with wet clothes, you cut down the drying time. How does it work? The water from the clothes are transferred to the towels. Then everything takes less time to dry.
I thought I came up with that idea 30yrs ago. If I'm doing dark clothing I'll put in a pair of jeans or something else dark and absorbing. But I'm trying to talk my Stubborn Step-father, (who, besides my help does the laundry at his house) into believing that it makes a big difference in saving time plus a bit of $ on gas & electric bills as well... But he won't 😥 Cuz he knows everything about Everything.... grrr🙄🤬Oh well
The best cleaning hack I've found is dish soap and white vinegar in a dispenser dish brush that you keep in the shower to scrub when needed. My shower has never been cleaner.
I have watched so many vids on cleaning how I hadn't seen you before today is mind boggling. Most of them are just hyper explanations with super type A people with voices to match. You are the antithesis to the average annoying cleaning vids. Such a delight thanks - I actually wanted to subscribe!
For cleaning the shower head you can also just put it in a bucket/bowl/tub if you’re someone who doesn’t have or use plastic bags. As long as it’s immersed it’ll do the job.
I almost never throw away old toothbrushes 'cause they Always come in handy cleaning so many things. cleaning small grooves on devices like those gaming controllers, mouses, etc. scrubbing under shoes where there are usually patterned grooves that make it hard for anything else to reach. the nooks and crannies of my cats' food and water dispensers, or any other dishes with nooks like the threaded tops of bottles and tumblers. The washing machine filters. hairbrushes. dusting tiny ornaments. hardwater buildup around the faucet. any crevice in the house that even the crevice tool on the vacuum can't reach.
My mom taught me about cleaning toothbrushes my whole life but did you know you can heat the end of the handle with a lighter and then bend the head back to reach into corners? Love that.
I love taking essential oils and putting them in a spray bottle with distilled water and spray in it on the carpet before I vacuum over it to deodorize the carpet. Great tips! Thanks for sharing!
Honestly shocked by how down to earth and valuable these tips are! Who’d of thought that cleaning could be done so well and economically! Brilliant post & share! BTW : to answer your last ask, yes I see value in your economical tips for cleaning, as long as they work. Brilliant share!
I love hacks and shortcuts. I've never enjoy cleaning & just do it because I have to, lol. When I hear things like these, I rejoice because they make cleaning quicker and more enjoyable. Thanks for these hacks, many I can put into use ASAP.
I had a male cat that sprayed my son's clothes that he always had piled up on the floor of his bedroom and I used apple cider vinegar ( not the more expensive organic stuff.. just the big jugs of regular ACV) and put one cup in per large load! Rarely, I would have to do two cycles because the first didn't quite take the smell completely out of the clothes! I also love Snuggle Super Fresh liquid fabric softener for getting stubborn smells out of towels, clothes, etc.! For wrinkles, a friend told me that when she takes her clothes out of the washer, she shakes them out just so they're not all bunched up before tossing them into dryer.. for jeans she holds them up by the waist with one hand and tugs fairly firmly on the bottom of the legs to pull out the bigger wrinkles before tossing into dryer! I have done this for years now and works very well!
Top tip - To clean the inside of a dirty /greasy/cruddy microwave- fill a cup/mug half to 3/4 full of water, if you have any lemon or lime juice squirt some into the water (the juice isn't essential but will remove any nasty odours that are lingering inside the microwave) place the cup/mug in the microwave and switch it on high power for 5-10 mins. When it stops carefully open the door and with a heatproof glove or towel take the mug out BE CAREFUL THE MUG WILL BE. VERY HOT!! Take a clean cloth and simply wipe down the inside of the microwave. The steam from the boiling water softens ALL the grease and dried on burnt food meaning everything will come clean with one wipe, no need to scrub! If there are stubborn patches just repeat the process. If you want extra sparkle spray the inside and outside of the microwave with glass cleaner and polish with a dry cloth. Never scrub a microwave again! This method had NEVER failed me and I used it on the microwave that was in the canteen of the quarry where I worked, it was DISGUSTING, covered in burnt on food 🙈 it cleaned up like new 👍🏻
I got a container of Dawn Professional dish soap. It comes with a pump, and it's meant to be heavily diluted. This means that, for an average household, you probably won't use it very fast. I use it as my multi-purpose cleaner. I figure, if it works for dishes, it should work for just about anything. Right? We have glass dishes, stainless steel, plastic...if we know that this stuff is safe for those surfaces, might as well use them nearly everywhere. Plus, small children eat stuff off the floor all the time. Might as well make the floor safe to eat off of. :D (so, yes I use it on my floors as well)!
Dawn professional degreaser works magic on Any surface that ever gets even remotely dirty/greasy. I worked in fast food for a few months and it was the only stuff that could even touch the gunk on the floors.
I believe that Dawn has chemicals in it, the producers of Dawn most probably started their own promotional campaign, I use Dr Bronner’s Sal Suds, a squirt goes a long way,(very sudsy) but absolutely chemical free which is the better choice for yourself and the environment. It might seem pricy but a little truly goes a long way!
When you’re cleaning windows or mirror or glass, put half ammonia and half water in a squirt bottle.. spray what you’re cleaning with the ammonia mix then add one tiny drop of Dawn dish soap to the middle. Wipe your glass/mirror starting at the middle to smear the dish soap then wipe. There’s no streaks or anything when you’re done. I’ve been doing this for years and it works so well.
To get at the source of the problem, soak your feet in black tea for a bit (just brew some Lipton, Louisian, or whatever) and that will kill the bacteria causing the problem in the first place. This is a trick from Dr. Oz and my family member did this years ago and cleared up the smell for years. I would also Lysol the heck out of the inside of the shoe so the bacteria didn’t jump back on. Ew
The easiest way to clean a stove exhaust filter is to rinse it under hot water and then stick it in the dishwasher on the top rack. It comes out perfect that way. Just a helpful tip. :)
@@SandraMessenger That's why I said it's the easiest way to clean it. Not the only way. I didn't always have a dishwasher either. You can also do what I said above and then after rinsing it soak it in hot water and dish soap then give it a little scrub and it'll be nice and clean. That's how I cleaned mine before owning a dishwasher. It only takes an additional few minutes to clean it this way. Don't let it soak too long though, it will rust. A few minutes, max.
@@anonamama7838 lol 😂 I hear ya.That programmes my cleaning motivation .anytime ifeel like Icant do it Isit down with a coffe and watch a episode .Im ready to take onthe house after it .😂
I've watched your channel a couple years now and I love ALL your hacks. My most used one is the baking soda/dish soap cleaner. Game changer! Thanks for all you do and I hope your family is safe and well.
Yep, my granddaughter wears bucket hats...she has one for every outfit. Recently she ordered a bunch more canvas hats which were shipped, conveniently, in a vacuum sealed bag with every wrinkle welded into place. She was livid. She set the dryer on the lowest setting (ya don't want to shrink brand new hats), dampened a washcloth and tossed all the hats and washcloth in for 10-15 minutes. Wrinkles gone.
Thank you Melissa for all your cleaning tips ,all that I use have been very helpful I really appreciate you & all you do to keep us all to have a clean house
I love all the cleaning hacks. I especially like the diy cleaners. They clean great and without the harsh chemicals. You always have great tips and tricks. I don’t know if you talked about this already, but one thing I do after I vacuum either with my stick vacuum or my big corded vacuum is I clean the dirt cup and wash the filters after each use. I always have extra filters on hand so I don’t have to wait for the others to dry. It keeps your vacuum looking and working like new and I feel it greatly extends the life of the machine. It also keeps it from smelling bad. After all, vacuums are expensive and no one wants to keep having to replace them or having them not work well
I laughed out so hard when Jawad Sean told me Col.Sam Bashirs wife kicked him out of the house for flirting with an Avari tower prostitute.Tengal.attended the ceremonial rites later..Awan family is screwed as a Javed Chaudhary show.
I like the hack I saw years ago that said,”Keep several bags for the garbage containers in all the rooms in the bottom of the container. When it needs changing, just pull out the full one, and there’s a clean one under it. Pull it up and wrap it around the edge and you’re good to go.”
I have a great hack for cleaning my metal coffee carafe. I pick up denture cleaner tablets at the dollar store, drop a few in my rinsed carafe, fill with hot water and let sit overnight. In the morning just empty & rinse, then put a few drops of dish soap in the carafe, add hot water and swirl around, if there are some bad stains I will use a bottle brush, then rinse well. Clean and shiny.
You should never use soap in a coffee carafe. It taints the taste of the coffee. Mix Salt …like kosher salt… and water, swirl it around in the carafe and it gets the coffee oil out of the carafe.
I began my next career as a housekeeper three months ago, after 15 years as a sham, and I’ve learned so many great tips on the job and from this channel!😍 My favorite is Dawn mixed with a spray bottle of white vinegar. I love how well and how quickly it cleans. My husband teases me about the house smelling like a salad, but he appreciates how everything sparkles and that I’m getting my chores done a little quicker. (More snuggle time for us! 🥰)
Looove your comment so much, everything from the new career as a housekeeper to you and your husband having more snuggle time! 😊 All the best luck and happiness in your new career and to you and your family!
Love the cleaning hacks! I've been using Melissa's recipe for the all-purpose cleaner and. it. is. AMAZING! She has definitely saved me money and made me a believer to using everyday ingredients that I already have! Thanks again!
Another pretty natural stain lifter I have used is dawn power wash. You literally spray the stain. Sometimes I rub the fabric together and literally throw it in your hamper. Or whenever you need to wash it and stain comes clean every single time. I have used this on blood, grass stains, Greece, anything. You can make your own and it works. Okay, but the actual dawn power wash works even better. This. Also works in your shower spray. Let's set scrub is what I do. Rinse and voila. I cleaned professionally for 7 years. But I love giving tips and learning new tips that will help, thank you for this.
We drink a lot of tea, which over time leaves residue on whatever it's in. What takes this off overnight is Polident. As a matter of fact, anything which is stinky or cruddy is helped by putting it in hot Polident solution.
My pet sitting customers say that I leave the house cleaner than how they left it. They say that the house looks spotless and so tidy when I finish my stays. I can't remember which hacks I have used but they have been so useful at home or at my different jobs.
I ❤ the hoover hack!!! It makes you want to hoover because when you do it makes your rooms smell lovely when you do!!! Win, win in my books!!! 🙌❤👌👍 ❤ your channel Melissa!!! ❤ from the UK. 💖 xx
Love cleaning hacks. Another good one is to use wd40 to clean your stainless steel appliances. Thanks for sharing all your tips. Greetings from London 🇨🇦
So many I can't keep up! Old and forgetful. Love your hacks, will try to put some to good use..... I got really old last year and have no energy but do have a messy house to clean. Thank you, have save your video to see again tomorrow!
Another great ice pack hack… Is to use white karo syrup and double bag it. If you have kids, it can be a fun project for them to add glitter or fun beads because it is thick and is fun. It is also very flexible and does the trick but is not as freezing cold as pure ice which isn’t good to put straight on the skin.
Love the stuff that actually works!! I'm not into the "hacks". Usually, it is not the "shortcut" they make it sound like. OR they will use the entire bottle of 5 products for 1 job. I rather just use the things that work, and TIME. Sometimes they need to sit a minute (or 5) before scrubbing/wiping. Less work, cleaner things. Great job, as always. Love your videos!
Absolutely hooked on your videos! That being said, peroxide turns into water when allowed to sit in open air. I discovered that was still the case when I attempted to keep some in a spray bottle. I imagine if you can tighten the nozzle to completely close this won't be an issue but it's important to remember to tighten after use and make sure your sprayer nozzle is capable of completely closing.
I HATED cleaning so I just didn't do it. I have MS so there are certain cleaning tasks I can't do. Your TH-cam channel is a GODSEND! KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING!!!! 🙂
Pro hacks! :) One that works is to crumple up newspaper, wet a cloth with vinegar and wipe your house or car windows, using the crumpled newspaper to dry off. It's not my favorite way to clean windows but it is definitely the quickest and easiest way.
Thanks for your cleaning hacks. Helpful. For wooden cutting board to get rid of odour /grime, you can scrub it with crystal salt and used lime halves together. Then rinse it as usual with dish soap
You had me at the first hack! That sounds like a great magic eraser dupe and is hopefully less likely to affect the paint finish on walls. I've been using the baking soda trick to clean coffee mugs of all types but used your previous hack of just sprinkling in a little bit and then rubbing it around with a splash of water rather than filling it to the brim with hot water and allowing it to soak overnight. The results are amazing because nothing else I tried would work to get those stains out, even the silver markings from stirring spoons inside of white mugs! I look forward to trying that soft scrub recipe because the soap scum struggle is real. Another life-changing hack I've learned has been to soak a soap scummy, orange bacteria ridden fabric shower curtain liner in OxiClean Versatile as directed before putting it in the washing machine. I've since used that product so many times for laundry stripping bedsheets, doggy couch covers, and to remove dinginess from light clothing. My other top laundry trick for shirts with BO is to spray the armpit area with regular household 3% hydrogen peroxide before tossing them in the washer. I'm pretty sure I could get by with just hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and Sal Suds (or dish soap) in my cleaning arsenal, although vinegar and essential oils are nice to have around too.
Hi there. how are you🌷 I just graduated from university and I am looking for a job and on the other hand I'm here to earn an income and not be a burden to my family. I want to be able to take better care of both myself and my family because my parents divorced and we are in a difficult situation. My mother cannot work because she had cancer surgery. I work hard here to make my dreams come true. I make these comments to make my voice heard as much as possible. Even if 2-3 people out of this many people support me and join our EAL family, it is enough for me to find courage, thank you in advance...
Oh, I am sooo Liking you, your hacks are music to my ears. If I have a Problem I usually just ask a woman, but instead of shrugs and bad dead ends, with you I get GOOD Answers. Thank You.
Melissa , I did the stainless steel coffee mug hack you showed here (hot water and baking soda). It worked amazingly! I taught my daughter the same hack. I also did the cream of tartar/water toaster oven cleaner hack. It worked too! I'm gonna try the vaccuum cleaner filter hack next.
This is also a wonderful hack to clean tea and coffee stains out of delicate tea cups....you dont even need the water to be hot ....just make a paste with baking soda and water, rub the inside of the cup and the stain is gone like magic plus it us very gentle
Hi Melissa - Great video, and I love hacks. I'm not a great cleaner, but I try and keep a somewhat clean home. So the easiest way is the best. Thanks for sharing and continued success. Love PegEgg
A wrinkle or refresher hack I use is a mixture of 1 part fabric softer and 3 parts water in a misting spray bottle. If your dryer stops and you don't get the clothes out before wrinkling, just mist the garments with the mixture and toss back in the dryer for about 10 minutes. They dewrinkle and smell great.
When it comes to blood or wine, I treat it while it's wet. My mom used to use a wet sock to steam her garments. I like cleaning hacks for the most part. A lot of them I grew up with.
I learned some cool tricks from watching this video. I just bought a few of those spray bottle tops for my hydrogen peroxide and rubbing alcohol. That’s really a great idea! I also bought a collapsible dish pan just in case I need to soak anything or make a cleaning solution in a larger capacity than just say using a bowl.
I also was a house cleaner for years. I had a cleaning job for a guy who worked in a carlot. His shower was fiberglass and I was afraid to use cleansers and scrubbing was a nightmare. I figured powder dishwasher detergent was made for all types of surfaces so I gave it a try. I sprayed the shower with the hottest water and put the dishwasher detergent on a sponge the grease came off with little effort!

Works well!
"It really works people"

As a young adult, a friend of mine taught me to turn my clothes inside out before drying. In that way, the inside of the garment fades, while the outer side holds its color longer. I use a line now, and do the same thing.
I'm so HHHHHAPPPPPYYY that you are still making videos!!! I watched your video back years ago, then I had a new account and lost all my subscriptions. Now I own my own home, and I suddenly remember you!!! Thanks for all the great tips and tricks to keep our homes clean!
OMG! You are SO Smart...and precious! I am 67 yo. You are as smart as my grandmother! Love love you and your channel!!! Thank you for your videos!!!!
Whew!
Ewwwwww! Mice poop!!Ya they don't like mint!!!
Excellent idea for the mice, especially with the mice we have here, that carry the Hantavirus! And mice can do so much damage too. Thanks!
Vinegar YUCK! There's better stuff,u can use, with a better sent!
@@micheleruddle-evans6507 The vinegar odor does not linger at all
@@micheleruddle-evans6507The scent may not be great but vinegar is a great odor neutralizer. Letting it sit in the drain with baking soda would definitely help diminish bad odors.
😳 Please do NOT use if you have old cast iron pipes! If the vinegar sits in there, it starts eating a hole, and yes, I speak from personal experience.
@@kywifette5415 Oh! That is good advice! Never thought about that.
"It really works people"
I love cleaning so Housekeeping is a magic word to me.
My holiday cleaning is a joy at the moment so thank you again.
Lavender essential oil also retards mildew growth...and orange oil cuts grease, so they are both in the vinegar with a splash that I use to clean EVERYTHING!
I clean professionally using Only home made solutions, so a Big Yay from me on the cleaning potions!
That’s a good idea. I have a ton of eucalyptus oil and the smell is incredible.
Plz share proportion of lavender and orange and vinegar ratio
What ratio do you use?
What if my washer doesn’t have hot water, will it be ok?
Wish I'd known that before I pulled out bits and pieces of broken/dried up shoe rubber from the drier and having to buy new ones. Then again, they were Very old and definitely cost less than 200. and I'm assuming minimizing the bumping around by hanging them in there would mitigate at least some damage. Willing to risk it with cheap sneakers but def not precious running shoes!
Never put shoes in the dryer. It can bust the drum or the rollers that the drum turns on. Super expensive to fix…how do I know?!
I really appreciate you sharing this advice. Thank you!
Great tip, my sneakers get dirty hiking trails

As a person who finds cleaning tasks exremely boring but trying to be an adult by dealing with her own sht anyways, i've found this video having full of brilliant info for me! Tysm❤
I like that you opt for natural detergents and acids to clean instead of these harmful chemicals that we are flooded with on the market.
LOL
I love this! Thanks for sharing.
White Shoulders ❤️
Thanks to this tip I've damage my vacuum! Moist and dast trapped together-not good combination
Baking soda and damp sponge
I love how the products are easily accessible and generally enviro friendly.
I love your cleaning hacks! They have saved me so much time and I’m no longer frustrated with cleaning! I learned two new ones today. Keep the hacks coming!!
Love your tips.

Thanks for sharing this.
My fave hack: I don't use dryer sheets in the dryer but I pop them inside cushions on the couch and it gives a nice fresh scent for about 3 months, you can also add essential oils to the sheet but need to check on the couch material first 😁
I find dryer sheets that aren’t used up in the dryer. Place one inside a pillowcase under the pillow. Also keep drawers fresh.
I put them at the bottom of my small trash cans, bathroom, bedroom, desk cans. Change the liner, change the dryer sheet. Usually lasts a couple weeks before it runs out of scent.
Sadly typical dryer sheet are Toxic

My favorite DIY cleaning hack is equal parts hydrogen peroxide, dawn dish soap, and baking soda - this works on any stain on light colored clothing, but it absolutely removes the yellow under arm stains on men’s white undershirts. For years I struggled removing these yellow stains, and bleach only makes it worse. This is the only thing that has worked.
I'm going to try it. My husband uses white shirts for work. It's his uniform and I don't know how to get rid of those yellow stains. Thank you.
you mix all 3 ingredients, then apply and scrub gently with an out toothbrush and let sit for at least 1/2 hour.
Soaking in straight vinegar works too!
Ever tried milk?
Dishwashing liquid on the spots, let it overnight or two, and wash it hot with detergent for white.
What ratio?
@@CarniBarbiethe ratio that Melissa said in the video.
Need to remove hard water marks off glass shower doors please
For removing wrinkles/steaming clothes in the dryer, instead of adding in an article of wet clothing I toss a few ice cubes in on top of the clothes and start it. Once I stop hearing the cubes bang around, I let them toss for a few more minutes and pull them out.
Same!
Nice tip! Thank you!
Thanky you.
Dishwasher tablet works well too.
Now I feel like staying home from work today and cleaning. Great hacks!!

I have always just
put the 'overhead exhaust filter cover' into the dishwasher.
No toilet fresh put clothes softer
I’m actually excited to clean the bathroom tomorrow with your baking soda and dish soap “pudding” hack! So thank you from this New Zealand fan 💜💜
Tip: A good way to clean between the keyboard keys: Use a makeup Fan Brush. Just get a cheap makeup fan brush, they fit right between the keys & you can use that to brush out all the dirt & if needed you can dip it in cleaning solution to kill germs.
I just vacuum w the fuzzy brush attachment
You have an excellent communication style, simple, fun and not lengthy!👍
Keep a couple of heavy towels just for your dryer. Before adding clothes to dryer, add the towels and let them get hot; then add your wet clothes. When you put those towels in you dryer with wet clothes, you cut down the drying time. How does it work? The water from the clothes are transferred to the towels. Then everything takes less time to dry.
I would do something similar to get wrinkles out of clothes.
Don’t put dark clothes mixed in because towels can leave lint on them. My experience anyway.

Great idea! I like to clean the shower while I'm taking a shower. lol

Alot of old school cleaning tricks, vacuum bags we always used dryer sheets
I just tried the tub solution and it did wonders on our 70 yr old tub. I used the extras on the sink and toilet. Thank you:)
I have watched so many vids on cleaning how I hadn't seen you before today is mind boggling. Most of them are just hyper explanations with super type A people with voices to match. You are the antithesis to the average annoying cleaning vids. Such a delight thanks - I actually wanted to subscribe!
I save foil, and crumple it up to clean the bbq grill with it. It's pliable so it cleans the grill pretty well.
For cleaning the shower head you can also just put it in a bucket/bowl/tub if you’re someone who doesn’t have or use plastic bags. As long as it’s immersed it’ll do the job.
yes!!!!!! soo annoying when a plastic 1-time use bag is suggested!
Good idea!
If the shower head is not removable, the bag hack is pretty much necessary.
Half a cap full of fabric conditioner mixed with water in a spritz bottle is a fantastic substitution for febreeze
Love that.
Me too 😂 I never throw toothbrush....I clean my gold jewellery...they shine. I clean silverware using toothbrush and toothpaste...they shine and so on
I buy the “cheap” toothbrushes at Walmart. You can get about 5 or 6 toothbrushes for about $1.

I love the way you are using essential oils for enhancing life and eliminating bad odors.
I love taking essential oils and putting them in a spray bottle with distilled water and spray in it on the carpet before I vacuum over it to deodorize the carpet. Great tips! Thanks for sharing!
Disperse the essential oil in a tablespoon of vodka first, essential oils do NOT disperse in water alone.
This method had NEVER failed me and I used it on the microwave that was in the canteen of the quarry where I worked, it was DISGUSTING, covered in burnt on food 🙈 it cleaned up like new 👍🏻
Same! Works like a charm.
Use the cover for your food (the large opaque plasticky thing), and walah, the 'wave stays clean!
One of the best realistic videos I have ever seen
I use it in place of detergent on clothes that are basically only dirtied by food..
I will help you too help
When you’re cleaning windows or mirror or glass, put half ammonia and half water in a squirt bottle.. spray what you’re cleaning with the ammonia mix then add one tiny drop of Dawn dish soap to the middle. Wipe your glass/mirror starting at the middle to smear the dish soap then wipe. There’s no streaks or anything when you’re done. I’ve been doing this for years and it works so well.
Vacuum the windows with the brush attachment first. No dust, no muddy goo with the cleaner.
@@pamelamccormick3915 that’s a good idea too
Vinegar for windows.
For the stinky shoes, I’d suggest spritzing some rubbing alcohol in there first to kill any odor-causing bacteria then apply the essential oil(s).
I suggest spritzing some vodka on them! It works wonders…
I put my shoes in the washing machine on delicate, always have.
Ew
I Throw dem away .... the Material are Bad
The easiest way to clean a stove exhaust filter is to rinse it under hot water and then stick it in the dishwasher on the top rack. It comes out perfect that way. Just a helpful tip. :)
Not everyone has a dishwasher
@@SandraMessenger That's why I said it's the easiest way to clean it. Not the only way. I didn't always have a dishwasher either. You can also do what I said above and then after rinsing it soak it in hot water and dish soap then give it a little scrub and it'll be nice and clean. That's how I cleaned mine before owning a dishwasher. It only takes an additional few minutes to clean it this way. Don't let it soak too long though, it will rust. A few minutes, max.

Perfect! I love hearing these success stories.

I have a great hack for cleaning my metal coffee carafe. I pick up denture cleaner tablets at the dollar store, drop a few in my rinsed carafe, fill with hot water and let sit overnight.

I just tried your hack - the soaking of the filter over microwave. It works amazing in only a couple of minutes. Can’t say thank you enough!
Thanks for watching Erica!
I have sent these ideas to my family. So many great ideas with things that uses ingredients that we have in our house. Thank you.
Hydrogen peroxide needs to be in a dark bottle away from light, why they sell it in a brown bottle.
@@Sunnydreamer1470 thank you! I realized last night I failed to mention that. Yes, very important!
I thought so..thanks for the info! Takes the doubt of putting it in spray bottle.
peroxide also cleans bloody items, I used to soak underwear overnite with peroxide for "accidents" pre menopause. Then into the laundry the next load.

Pro hacks! :) One that works is to crumple up newspaper, wet a cloth with vinegar and wipe your house or car windows, using the crumpled newspaper to dry off. It's not my favorite way to clean windows but it is definitely the quickest and easiest way.
It's better to you the same, or similar type paper without anything printed on it.
Thanks for the idea!
My uncle taught me the newspaper trick to clean windows on new construction. It works amazingly well.
My grandfather told me that the ink in the newsprint polishes the glass. It does a great job.
Hi there. how are you🌷
I just graduated from university and I am looking for a job and on the other hand I'm here to earn an income and not be a burden to my family.
Oh love soft scrub, it's my 'go to'!
@Jenny Jenkins I also use Dr Bronners Sal Suds but only put a small squirt in it really does over suds up. A little goes a long way!

This is also a wonderful hack to clean tea and coffee stains out of delicate tea cups....you dont even need the water to be hot ....just make a paste with baking soda and water, rub the inside of the cup and the stain is gone like magic plus it us very gentle
put a denture tablet in the coffee cup, or anything with stains. Let set overnight and it will wipe clean.
Make sure you do the magical hand wave spell- key piece! 😅
Let washable shoe styles air dry in the outdoors in the sun. It saves on 900 wattage drying time, and keeps the shoes from over heating.
Throw in a damp clean washing
When it comes to blood or wine, I treat it while it's wet. My mom used to use a wet sock to steam her garments. I like cleaning hacks for the most part. A lot of them I grew up with.
Yes! I think over time people forgot how well vinegar and baking soda work for cleaning along with dish soap.
Great video! Please share the make and model of your small garment steamer? Looks super small and handy
