- The Camaro ZL1 is an absolute monster of a muscle car, with a 6.2L supercharged V8 that produces an advertised 650 horsepower at the crank. These are built to be track weapons out of the box with 325 wide rear tires, 6 piston front & 4 piston rear Brembo brakes, Magnetic ride control suspension allowing you to put the car in track mode with the press of a button, making the Camaro ZL1 an extremely capable track machine. The biggest difference between a ZL1 and other 6th generation Camaros is the potent LT4 engine…a 6.2 liter supercharged V8 making 650hp & torque.
Today at Freedom Street Garages day of speed hosted by our friends at @RestoMods, we put the ZL1 on the mobile dyno to test its power on paper. Keeping the temperature of the outdoors in mind, today we will find out the real horsepower that this beast of a car produces at the wheels.

Zl1 stock usually run 560-570hp

A10 usually puts down close to 530ish and M6 can put down closer to 580rwhp.
Totally disagree on that 560-570 stock, the 650 at the crank with a 18% drivetrain loss you're looking at about 530whp stock auto 10sp. I know this is true because I'm talking about my own '17 ZL1 10sp auto. What the 6 sp does I won't speak about because I don't know. I hate it when guys run their mouth and say stuff that isn't true.
@@djs3484 530 for a stock A10 is about the right area for one to sit. However, coming from my own experience with my 17 ZL1 6spd, only having a CAI and full Borla ATAK exhaust got me 607rwhp on the rollers. The guy I had do the dyno said he had done a couple of 6spd ZL1's and they'd average between 575-580ish rwhp bone stock.

@@TheWolfMatt hey Matt, stock 608whp with the manual?!? Holy smokes, that's crazy as with the drive line loss you've gotta be poppin about 710 at the crank in stock form and that's awesome for you. With a CAI, headers, pulley with custom performance tune, borla exhaust with removed cats, I'm at about 640whp. Getting a whipple 2.9 installed and will run very low boost as to not tax the stock fuel system. Will keep it at or slightly higher whp as the 1.7l is strung out max but the whipple won't be breaking a sweat at all. That's the last mod I'm doing as I really don't need to be any faster than it is, its my daily driver and I know there ain't that many guys faster than me, the ones that are I'm not giving a rip as it still scares me a little when you can floor a car at 80 or 90mph, drop 3 or so gears and still be thrown back into the recaros and be at 120 pretty quickly. Cam, pulley, headers throttlebody, and cold air intake, you looking at 700-730 whp and on e85 800 whp.

he wasn’t doing the pull correct! there is no way it’s 511rwhp, it sounds like a high gear pull, it was taking forever to get up there.

On our local Heartbreakers dyno a 2018-2021 zl1 pulls 495-500 at the wheels automatic. 2022 do about 515-520.
That seems really low for factory. Unless you really gain that much with just a cat back exhaust and CAI? My 17 ZL1 6spd put down little more than 608rwhp and 592ft-trq and only had the Borla ATAK exhaust (w/xpipe mid) and a Weapon X CAI. You gotta get this bad girl some pipes to let those screaming eagle's free bud.

Keep in mind that some of that power gets lost as heat from the drive train. It does indeed make 650 horsepower but to the crank not the wheels. Every car experiences this
I think its usually 530-550ish stock but of course every dyno reads differently, and so many variables that affect the numbers

Thats about right... a Gen5 would be 480-500whp stock add some typical bolt on's and you get 580-600whp or so...Add E85 you're at 630whp, Bore and stroke, pullies will put down 700-725whp. Add a 2650 SC and... well I don't know...yet!
