I always run this weapon, even if i don't mean to. It's this game's stealth archer for me. Every build I go eventually just devolves into lifehunt scythe because i love this frickin thing so much. The 2h running attack is just so good and seeing the bleed chunk bosses just fills me with dopamine
This is my first time using it, but I'll be very tempted to switch to it every time I use a halberd lol. It's very very good.
I beat manus on sl1 earlier today and it honestly cemented him as my favourite boss in the game, some of the delays on his attacks are definitely weird but i find that to be a good way to add difficulty to evading attacks (especially as opposed to just making them faster)
The more annoying aspects of the boss to me are his big combo and forward jump attack (mainly the hitbox on the way up) but i also kind of grew to like them because they force me to put more focus on positioning, increasing the depth of the fight
It might make a difference that I used the pendant to dodge the magic (except for the shotgun) might try going without it if i do another run
Also, great video, self damage weapons usually scare me off so this was fun to watch :3
I don't really know how to describe what I mean by "weird" timings, but as an example, the arm raise and slam. It's a weird timing. The sanctuary guardian headbutt is delayed, but it doesn't feel weird. I don't know if that makes sense or not lol
My problem with the combo is the fact that it makes it completely unsafe to attack from neutral, no matter how fast your weapon is. In the case of Artorias, for instance, you can swing from neutral, see him prime an attack, and roll through the attack. The combo can't be dodged unless you're entirely out of range. The big jump is pretty funky, too lol
@@solarpellets I think the problem with the slam attack is the animation, most of manus' attacks have a build up, a pause where he stays mostly still and then the actual attack. The pause in the middle feels consistent between most of his attacks but the slam has a much bigger gap in between raising his hand and actually hitting so it's harder to dodge, especially when you're in the flow of the fight, making it feel a little worse
And I definitely agree with the combo, it just feels horrible to lose an attempt to an attack that started after you already hit him and can't be avoided. Still not enough to put me off the boss personally but I can see why
Bosses take 30% of the usual bleed damage.
So 9 and 15% of their total health gets bled.
Stray Demon has 10303 hp in NG+6.
So 15% of that is pretty good damage.
Lifehunt also does 50 bleed build-up to the enemy. (40 to yourself.)
Priscilla's dagger only 20,
Most other weapons do 30-40 build-ups per strike but only do 30% damage.
Stray Demon and Firesage have only 75 bleed resistance, I think SIF has 200 bleed resistance.
Gaping Dragon 118 bleed resistance.
Smoung 120.
Sanctuary Guardian 100.
100-240 is a pretty common resist for bleed resistance.
If you are about to self bleed use the red clump and continue to attack if needed as enemy resistance also lowers overtime just like yours.
Almost all basic mobs die from 50% health loss+R1s of the sychte even in NG+6.
This weapon carried me through the DLC my first time playing it tbh. Such a rad weapon
I tried this weapon once and I had never stuffed my face full of red moss that hard before.
I also did a catchpole run once, deleted 38 characters because it didn't drop. Never again.

Y'know, I love all these challenge runs and stuff. I love the especially challenging stuff..
But videos like this, or backlogs dagger and scythe run, they almost feel like a different vibe.
Less of a challenge video, and more answering a question about how many different ways we can play this game.
If you aren't thinking like this already, perhaps a great catalyst for video ideas could be asking the question "how weird, unique, and fun can i make this game".
Jk leeds has a video jokingly called the most difficult challenge run or something like that. The black knight Halberd ate through the game.
What if you asked the question "how accidentally easy, or hard, could a brand new player have made it on themselves". Do they accidentally get the black knight halberd? Do they hear about the drake sword and invest everything into it? What if they never learned to upgrade gear? Etc.
Just some food for thought. Less of a video idea and more of a soup to inspire something of your own.
I mean, information and uniqueness are both the entire reason I do challenge runs. Furry pyromaniac, literally nothing, gun, asylum only, PGS, demon greataxe, I did them all because they were either unique builds or I could use them to explain some game mechanic or something.

I try to keep it a mix, I have a couple genuinely really hard challenges coming up, I just do these because they're weapons I've always wanted to use but never have lol

Love your opinions on Artorias and Manus. I find them to be a little overrated and boring. I usually only fight Art so I can fight Kalameet and then ignore Manus ;)
That's extremely relatable. I don't dislike Arty, I just don't think he's a peak fight or anything lol. I like fighting Manus now, but learning him sucked T_T

Scythes are THE coolest weapon class, sucks how there's usually only 2 per game, just beat elden ring with scythes only and they are better than they were in DS3
I mean, the Great Corvian Scythe is pretty good. DS2 has nine reapers and five of them are actual scythes. I think it's just DS1 and Elden Ring that kinda drop them. DS3 had four, and the Friede scythe is cool, if pretty bad lol
@solarpellets i farmed for hours to get that scythe and never got it so had to use the basic one 😭 I got stuck at the armoured enemies as they take so little slashing damage, like gundyr and dragon armour man
pfff, maybe you don't like Manus cause you didn't spam the super mega awesome Dark Magic Bubble Shield item. Being untouchable as well as protecting lil lady sif at the same time is like, the coolest.
If you make a build around this weapon correctly the game is baby easy mode
Scythes are such cool weapons in souls games, I wish they were better in elden ring

In all seriousness, there are so many cool weapons that are just bad lol. Dancer Swords, Wolf Greatsword, Ornstein's spear, storm ruler...

Gonna be honest, the gimmick of the Lifehunt Scythe kinda turns me off of it, but it's got some serious style.
If you just get the blood bite ring you can kinda ignore it completely. Maybe the tail axe if you don't need your off hand.
You can get the blood shield from the painted world too, it raises your bleed resist
@@Scowleasy Even so, there's something about the self-bleed that just registers in my brain as something I'd never want, even if there are readily available ways to circumvent it. Maybe a bad first exposure or something.

I only did that with endurance because big bleed resist is funny, I got to 40 dex and whatever health I had naturally
