      I honestly don’t understand why some women find it so difficult to be alone!!! It’s annoying asf and sometimes we as women just need to heal first from past wounds and then; perhaps we can sense the red flags prior to any long term committment because when you’re not fully healed, you can miss the red flags because you’re far more focused on the relationship as well as super distracted bc the WRONG man will keep you that way; unfortunately. 😩😞😢

I could not take a bubble bath without him knocking on the door, screaming, "come out; you've been in there too long." He was hooked in porn, drugs, and women. I was advised by my mother to let him do what he want to because he's my "husband." Worst advice ever! @dolinaj1 Death comes to all of us at some point. However, how one dies can make the pain of losing someone very difficult to accept. Yet, lessons learned from the choices others make can be helpful. I can only speak for myself.
      My takeaways from all of these sentiments are that when you are in an abusive relationship, do not be too proud or ashamed to reach out. Take the threats and abuse seriously.
      People who love you will not judge you. Don't be concerned with what people think. Get out and save yourself. If you don't get it, that's okay. But it is not cool to be dismissive of others. A life could be saved.

    • @Lynn.B.
      @Lynn.B. ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I get what you're saying, but the wording triggered me. The departing partner is not "making the other person homeless." The person being left is making themselves homeless by destroying their marriage via abuse and infidelity, for one, and by not being able to provide for themselves as a single person, for two. Each person has a right to leave the relationship how they entered it. If he entered without his own roof, clothes and food, then it's not her fault that that's how he's leaving.

      @@Lynn.B. True but the onus is on the person who CHOSE to engage & get involved with a person who is not on solid footing! We aren’t talking about 20 year olds, he was a fully grown adult who didn’t have a pot to piss in nor a window to throw it out of! Lauren was too damn desperate and unfortunately it cost her her life. He was an overdressed bum! Sadly there are a lot of “Lauren’s” in this world. Until society changes this narrative that a woman is not valued or respected unless she’s married, this types of cases will continue to happen.

    • @Lynn.B.
      @Lynn.B. ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@watsonar70 I agree with most of what you said, except for the part about onus. We stay placing all the responsibility on women, even when they're victimized. Yes, she was likely desperate to be married, and she let that override her obviously high intelligence. But I think it's also true that there was not just one desperate person in this situation. There were actually two. She was desperate for marriage, and he was desperate for provision. If the shoe were on the other foot, and he was the person who decided to leave the marriage, it's highly unlikely that she would have harmed him for exercising that right, even though she was desperate to be married. So, his desperation gives him no more right to harm her than hers would have given her the right to harm him.

      My friend is set to marry a man who she has not met any of his friends or family. He lied about who he lived with. Had me follow him home one night because he never seen my car. He went to church but she couldn’t come. He said he use to be a cop but she has seen no proof. She asked him to buy a house with her in Texas, he refused. She bought a house herself and moved to Texas and broke up with him. He wormed his way back in her life and home he didn’t help purchase. She says he pays half the bills. I just try to be there for her but she has lost friends behind not heeding the red flags from this man. She lost a son a few years ago to gun violence and he was there for her, I believe that’s what has her stuck. I just hope it works out.

No friends or family involved in the wedding...nada. No employment history...nope. So many questions that are unanswered...no thanks. His body language seems uncomfortable. Like some others have said, it's never a good idea to forewarn a person that you're leaving or want them to leave. If you and your spouse are sleeping in separate rooms, it's time to get out before you get to that point. I'm surprised they didn't go to couples counseling or didn't mention that. She seemed like the type who would go that route as a last resort before putting him out. It's clear she was a very kind woman who had good intentions. Like another poster commented, she may have felt the need to get married since a lot of her friends were. This happened in my college class when people were coupling up.
      Then, when people got married and bought homes, some felt the need to compete and rush into marriage or buy a bigger home in a more exclusive neighborhood.
      It is sad when societal or familial pressures burden people to act in such ways. I have seen many divorces from such pressures. Although it was not said about what made Lauren Charles dog her heels into this man, I am sure she felt some kind of way. May she rest in peace. Such a tragic loss.

    I had the same exact situation, hearing the stories trucks such a nerve in me. I’m so thankful that the Lord moved me and I listen to him and he moved me. I have become slightly afraid of my husband and not sure what he would do. No, he was never physically abusive, but he was so verbally and emotional and bullying that I just couldn’t take it anymore. I knew that that’s not right and he never did anything wrong. If anything went wrong anything it was always my fault. thank you to the Lord I got my own apartment. I’m happy I don’t feel on edge I don’t feel uncomfortable in my spirit, thank the Lord!! ladies please please get out if you have to go with just the clothes on your back leave . God will make away for you trust him

      @@kam1106 There is a difference between being quiet and being sneaky, stand-offish, manipulative and calculating! People who don’t engage with your friends and family after a certain period of time are hiding something! They don’t talk so that they don’t lie and have to worry about what they said. There is a thing as being too quiet! Just like with kids, when they are loud and playing, you know their safe! The minute the silence continues for more than 2 minutes, there is a problem. They sleep or hurt! That’s what them old country folks told me when I was growing up!

    I have a friend like Lauren, the only difference is that it's a male friend. The most humble, intelligent, funny, kind man I have ever known. His wife has isolated him from his friends and family. When he had finally gotten up the courage to leave her, she disclosed that she was pregnant. So he stayed. She abuses him mentally and emotionally, on some occasions physically. My concern is for what could possibly happen. I don't believe she would do the unthinkable, but what if he hurt himself? Thank you for sharing Lauren's story, it motivates me to "speak up and not mind my own business!" To Lauren's family; I am so sorry for your loss. I wish I had the honor of meeting her. May you be comforted in knowing that Lauren's story, terribly tragic, may save someone else. I am definitely going to try.💞🙏 My love to all.❤️
