So glad you're taking care of your teeth now. It's also important for your overall health. I just posted a video about chronic gum disease and other health problems.
One bad experience was all it took for my anxiety to keep me away from dental visits. I feel very fortunate I found a great dentist that took care of the fillings, root canal and crown. I actually enjoy going to the dentist, and now the orthodontist. I'm a few months away from being done with my invisilign treatment, and am not ashamed of my smile anymore. I even bought lipstick, for the first time ever. I'm 37 😊
I was only 10 when they put a "tooth pillow" in my mouth... Told me to raise my hand if my jaw needed a break, and then when I did they slapped it down.
Man, my crazy Bosnian dentist took out my wisdom tooth without anesthesia. I had PTSD for a long time until I found a good dentist. Happy to hear your experience
I used to be deathly afraid of going to the dentist when I was younger. I would literally have a panic attack and be unable to breathe. Now I love going and I love taking care of my teeth! I am fascinated by videos like this one and others that explain the biology behind dentistry.
Was visiting a friend in Mexicali. Decided to try out a dentist as several Vegas dentists quoted me $700+ for a "deep cleaning." Walked into Dentist office in Mexicali, super clean, professional, and charged me 60 for a cleaning. The hygienist was diligent and considerate of my pain tolerance. He did a fantastic job. He did exactly as shown in this video.
In my country a cleaning like this is usually $15 to $25, it always amazes me how much they charge in the US for dental work, my entire braces treatment costed me like $900
@@dearjohn8789 No dentist would do a deep cleaning out here for anything less than 700. For a standard cleaning, you can get one done for as little as 60. But a Deep Cleaning is more and more often than not, they will always tell you "you need a deep cleaning" just to charge the higher fee.

Okay so I've just taken my deep cleaning/scaling today. And for those who're kind of nervous/anxious about what might happen during the cleaning (just like me before going on a dental clinic), relax. You can tell the dentist whether you're anxious or not. Also, just don't overthink cause everything's going to be fine (I swear). Act as if it's your regular dental routine. They're just going to show you the case of your teeth and a little bit of chitchats about it, and the cleaning starts. Does scaling hurts? No. As for my case who has a heavy dental calculus, it doesn't hurt even though I was not given with anesthesia. The noise of the ultrasonic scaler and the water being sprayed were just the two things that might make you feel uncomfortable. So if you're anxious yet conscious about your teeth, go and booked for an appointment. The longer your case stays as it is, the pricier it was 😂 Everything's going to be fine. I assure you that 😉

@@ProdTWIN There can be many factors. So every dentist you had seen so far had heavy hands during your dental hygiene appointment? Do you have heavy accumulation of tartar buildup between visits? How often do you go in for your recall visits? Every 6 months? How is your oral hygiene? Are you consistent with brushing and flossing daily? Is your Dentist or Hygienist using a ultrasonic scaler ( water scaler) or regular hand scaling? If you have heavy buildup and tartar between and along your teeth, heavier pressure is needed to remove it, especially if the specialist is limited with hand scalers and the water scaler is not available. Other reason can be the specialist themselves. Some people are more heavy handed. Also every person is different as far as biology goes. Some folks develop tartar or buildup at a much faster rate. And the buildup itself can vary in density. I would recommend request seeing a dental hygienist for your next dental hygiene appointment. Don't be afraid to ask your dentist / hygienist why are the hands so heavy when cleaning and scaling your teeth? They will be happy to explain to you why. Communicate with your Dentist or Dental Hygienist so you can have a better experience.

Just a couple of days ago I went to the dentist for a cleaning for the first time in three years. When I was younger, I had so many bad experiences with this one dentist, that for a while I felt no motivation to keep up with my oral hygiene. I had extreme anxiety when my mom made me go. I also was never informed why I need to brush and floss and what the long and short term benefits are. A little while ago I kind of educated myself on all of this and now I’m flossing once a day and brushing at least twice a day and if I’m home, after meals. When I went to the dentist a couple days ago, it was a different one. This experience was much more positive and pain free and I actually can’t wait to go back for some reason. The hygienist was so sweet and keeping a conversation with my mom and I the whole time. The cleaning, for the first time since I was like 7 was completely painless and almost relaxing in a way. All the troubles with pain and gagging that I used to have at cleaning’s and x rays were gone! The dentist was very kind and cracked a few jokes and explained what he was doing before doing it, which is one of the things my previous dentist lacked and now I appreciate it a lot when they take that effort. Unfortunately, all that time that I wasn’t properly taking care of my teeth caused quite a few cavities and a broken down tooth that might need a root canal. At this point, I don’t really mind having to go back to the dentist to get this done, because of the positive experience I just had, but I also feel guilty for letting it get this bad in the first place. I avoided telling my parents when I had pain a long time ago, to avoid going back to my old dentist and the pain went away, but now the tooth is broken down. I’m still young yet I need to get all this work done and I feel guilty about that. When I wasn’t taking care of my teeth, I thought to myself that there was no point because either way id freak out the next time I went to the dentist because of some bad news he would say that was never true.
This is totally interesting. I have always been used to getting teeth scaling (never knew technical term) during my routine dental exam from my dental visits in Cleveland, OH; but since being in Houston, two dental offices that I have visited, both wanted to change hundreds of dollars for teeth scaling, and refuse to do any general cleaning. I guess each dental practice is different. It is also ironic that both of these dental offices did not automatically provide with toothbrush at the end of my visit. The first one I did not realize until I got home. The other, I had to ask for toothbrush.
Im glad you mentioned a thorough cleaning. I switched dentists and my new dentist said that he could tell from my x rays that my former dentist didn't do a proper cleaning. I had to get another one again. :/
Thank you! Great video, I’m in Dental Hygiene school now and we are learning instruments and placement of hands. Wish you would do more of this kind of close up videos! Can you do a video perio probing!
Wow that patient had nice and spacious teeth, when I go in for my cleanings there is usually a lot of pulling involved since my teeth are so squished together
@@TeethTalk always. But i was wondering if you can make a video on how to become a dental hygienist and what you need in order to do so. Im interested but i would like to be educated on it by someone who is experience and is in the field so your intel would be greatly appreciated.
I learned the hard way about neglecting my teeth. Now, I don't mind the visits as long as I know that my teeth are getting the care they need for long lasting whites. Is like not taking care of your car finish and eventually it starts getting damaged. What do you do? You wash it and sometimes you polish it to get rid of elements that may damage your clear and soon the paint.
I would love to see a video on suctioning techniques! I am in hygiene school and I struggle so much with suctioning that I usually just have the patient hold it, I will clean a few teeth with the cavitron, and then I will back off so they can suction. I cannot figure out how to hold it to retract, or how to hang it in the patients mouth. Help!!
parksrecsuperfan I’m a hygiene student myself ! For some surface toward (e.g. buccal of quad 1 and 4) I use the suction to retract instead of my mirror. For anteriors (e.g. mandible) I place the suction in the vestibule to retract the lip in the 12 o’clock position if that helps
I use a high speed evacuation (HVE) when I use sonic scaler. I use it to retract the cheek and that way the patient is not drowned and reduces aerosols
parksrecsuperfan I am an rdh of ten years and always have the patient hold it. Absolutely nothing wrong with that! I find it easier and the patient likes to be in control. Have you tried a purevac?
Afton Bernard that makes me feel a lot better! I think I am wary of it because my hygienists have never used a cavitron on me so I just feel like I’m making the patient work haha. And no I haven’t even heard of that!
parksrecsuperfan I recently started at a new office after ten years at another. At the new place, none of the five other rdhs have their patients hold it. So it’s new for the patients. I give clear instructions and they figure it out pretty quickly. The purevac is an hve that is so light the rdh can hold. It also has a mirror on the end. I use it when I prophy jet and never need an rda anymore. It’s also great for the elderly who struggle with the suction themselves
You need to floss everyday because plaque accumulate fast and using a dental scaler to remove accumulated plaque can affect your teeth enamel which is the protective layer your teeth have. I love this video because keeping your teeth healthy and clean has a direct impact in your overall health. I struggled all my life looking for ways to remove plaque. I have used all kinds of flossing devices to reduce cavities and doctor visits. But enough is enough, so I developed Easy Flosser and recently the Gap Picker to make flossing sessions easier than ever. Do not wait until your teeth turn as those shown on this video, it cost a lot of money, time and it affects your overall health so NEVER STOP FLOSSING OR CLEANING BETWEEN TEETH.
I unfortunately didn’t have the most reliable parents growing up and missed multiple appointments as a child/teen. I then went a couple of times before university and had a negative experience with a dentist. I then stopped going for roughly 8 years. Due to fear of judgement or if the dentist wasn’t very good. In all this time I brushed my teeth 2/3 times a day. I still had a build up of tartar which I had overthought was periodontitis. I finally called the dentist at the age of 30 and luckily got an amazing dentist. All I had to do was have a scale and polish which I had today. There is some discomfort but I’m so glad I’ve had it done! Please just go to the dentist! I wish I had done this years ago!
I have like yellow stains in the middle of front teeth, my dentist says it's demineralization not plaque, it's only that teeth changed color due to my drinking and smoking. So does that requer cleaning since is only esthetic and barely visible? Don't know
When i went to the hygienist all they did was the scaling with a spinning tool then they did the bicarbonate weird tasting thing that just felt like spraying powder on on my teeth and it went everywhere all over my tshirt. I'm going to ask them why they didn't floss me or do any manual picking and scraping. I noticed the chewing surfaces never had anything done to them either.
The drill which you use it can make the teeth thin better you can use the polish for cleaning I already cleaned now my teeth are sharp and feeling thin with my tongue
I love this!!! Haven’t gotten to use the ultrasonic scalers yet, but halfway through the semester I’m still trying to get all the way up on my fulcrum lol 😅😳
I love the cavitron !! My hygienist is relatively quick. My teeth are "clean", I get mad at her for finishing so fast !! I'd stay the entire day, if I could.
Your enamel is harder then bone actually. Make sure to brush 3x and floss daily , eat very healthy diet. The more you do at home the less scaling we need to do. Hope that helps 😊
Hi! Just saw this video in my recommendation, can a ultrasonic scaler scratch the teeth (when too close to enamel), Or crack the teeth (when the scaler passes between teeth) if it's done rapidly?
Hi there! It can not scratch teeth because enamel is stronger than the tips. Our enamel is so hard that it actually dull the tips over time. Hope this helps!

So many TH-camrs use it. My guess is because it’s royalty free
I instantly noticed
I noticed that it came from some other site 👀

Wow 😳 this is what they are doing to my teeth when I go to the dentist !!! So informative !!
All these steps you do is exactly what I get done when I go the dentist appointment except I got X-rays done last time too !!
so glad to hear that you are getting thorough cleanings!
Same 😊
Had teeth cleaned yesterday. She did everything in this video👍🏽 I hadn’t had a teeth cleaning in years though 🥲fortunately it wasn’t that bad. I got a clean slate😁
was it painful? mine's getting cleaned tomorrow !
Was it painful?. I will be having tomorrow 🥺
@@fatimamohammad8119 how was your experience?
Does your dentist insulted you for the bad situation of your teeth??
@@anumsehar3589 They would never do such a thing. In fact, they are always nice and gentle.
Now I know what they’re doing when they’re jabbing at my gums 😁
And it fucking hurts 😂 ( I just got back from the dentist )
It shouldn't hurt. If it does - let the dental provider know and they can offer you ideas to help.
@@TeethTalk I know I'm late but why the dentist put to much pressure when they clean our teeth
Josue Santos bc its hard to clean
Thank you for sharing, young lady. My daughter is currently in DH school and I'm one of her patients. I'm very proud of her and of ALL members of the dental/medical professions. Thank you very much to all of you!
Not satisfying cuz his teeth are already clean! -.-
He must've a good oral hygiene.
Thought the same BPE zero not a good example minor recession Bop nil oh excellent. Want to see gross perio. 😎
I thought so, but I don't dare
It’s not suppose to be satisfying
It's supposed to be informing, not satisfying.
The scraping can feel so strong, but I never realized how many gaps I had between my teeth that flossing couldn't clear lol
In-office flossing can be painful but quick!
Such an awesome video Whitney! I could watch these videos all day! Then again... I am a dental assistant! 💕
That makes me so HAPPY! Thank you for watching!
I'm here because I just came from the dentist and I want to see what they were doing in there 😅😅😅 it was a little painful but I hadn't gone for a good while.
I hand my patients a mirror to watch me cleaning their teeth if they want. I show before and after, makes a huge impact on promoting compliance.

I did exactly this yesterday by my dentist. Love it.
Great Video! Thanks to u nd all the lighting & camera crew
Please edit and make paragraphs. It will be easier to read.
I did enjoy this video, thank you! I am currently thinking about getting my certification to become a hygienist!
yay! wishing you the best!!! Here's my free RDH Video Checklist: bit.ly/rdh-video-checklist
Went for dental surgery yesterday.
The Surgion's assurance for painless treatment really helped.
Im glad you mentioned a thorough cleaning. I switched dentists and my new dentist said that he could tell from my x rays that my former dentist didn't do a proper cleaning. I had to get another one again. :/
I'm so sorry to hear that. It sounds like you are in good hands now. Sending positive vibes your way!
Ms. M's ASMR World I got a cleaning done but I still have plague on my teeth when I paid $100+ for a cleaning I’m mad

I liked your video! I love going to the dentist and I always wondered the explanation as of why they do what they do all the time
Thank you! Great video, I’m in Dental Hygiene school now and we are learning instruments and placement of hands. Wish you would do more of this kind of close up videos! Can you do a video perio probing!
Yes! Great idea thank you! Until then, I have a video "about" probing but it does not show the technique:

Teeth Talk Girl You are very good at what you do! I can tell you have a love for it! We need more dh like u!😀
My hygienist is named Rose. She's amazing.
Omg i can’t wait to get my teeth cleaned 😭😭
Got mine cleaned yesterday, it hurt alot on teeth that are overlapping
Just got my teeth cleaned today!!! It’s so refreshing knowing you have healthy hygiene!
Thank you for making this video! You have such a pleasant voice

One of the most painful experiences in my opinion, but worth it.
dylan vasey really? You may wanna change your dentist
@Jacob L To you maybe, to me it was very painful.
dylan vasey is not painful
@@cclmpr I did say 'in my opinion', I found it very painful.
Lots of y’all are stupid. Dylan, if it hurts you might want to get a different dentist.

YES! Thank you so much! Both ASMR and SRP vids coming soon :)
My last cleaning hurt in March.. the lady was cleaning close to him like it felt SO uncomfortable. I think I haven’t flossed enough
This really made me happy about wanting to do this as a job
I made my appointment to get my teeth clean today I am going to get my teeth clean tomorrow can’t wait
I have like yellow stains in the middle of front teeth, my dentist says it's demineralization not plaque, it's only that teeth changed color due to my drinking and smoking. So does that requer cleaning since is only esthetic and barely visible? Don't know
Whether you have stain or demineralization - you should still be getting routine cleanings. Hope this helps!
I love having my teeth cleaned professionally, it feels so good after
Can you also do a video on ergonomics, the proper way to sit🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
GREAT VIDEO IDEA! I will work on this...for I am not the best at ergonomics! But, it's a great goal and thank you for the suggestion!
He has a lot of gum recession. At least he is taking care of his teeth now since his teeth didn't bleed too bad.
The drill which you use it can make the teeth thin better you can use the polish for cleaning I already cleaned now my teeth are sharp and feeling thin with my tongue
Anybody else love getting their teeth cleaned? I find it so relaxing. And I have gingivitis lol.
Got my cleaning today. Wanted to see what they did.
I love this!!! Haven’t gotten to use the ultrasonic scalers yet, but halfway through the semester I’m still trying to get all the way up on my fulcrum lol 😅😳
Thank you for watching! You're going to do amazing with your fulcrum in no time!!! Sending positive vibes!
Wow, thanks for adding to the pool of knowledge. 💖

damn he took really great care of his teeth saw no fillers
I am sure he has plenty of fillings, but they are probably made of white composite. So it hides with the rest of his teeth.
Content like this makes me happy
I love the cavitron !! My hygienist is relatively quick. My teeth are "clean", I get mad at her for finishing so fast !! I'd stay the entire day, if I could.
That is awesome you are totally on team teeth!
Tbh i did this today and It hurted so bad.
I cried.I couldn't say anything so i just kept my pain inside and my teeth were soo bloody
The scraping noise is the worst part. I’m always convinced they’re scraping my enamel off and my teeth are going to fall out
I hate it soooo much
I hate it too
Me to i just got mine finished
Your enamel is harder then bone actually. Make sure to brush 3x and floss daily , eat very healthy diet. The more you do at home the less scaling we need to do. Hope that helps 😊
@@Lambag-Daniel bring your headphones and listen to music or podcast to block out the scaling noise .
This was so relaxing to watch!
I will soon be going through several cleanings and I appreciate your video. Have a fine Friday and upcoming weekend. 😄.
thank you! you, as well :)
