    I’ve learnt from living a long life that the body is so resilient despite years of abuse. Today in my 50’s I’m much healthier weight wise, metabolic blood work wise and my gums and teeth are much better than in my 30’s and 40’s. All it takes is some disciple and consistency.

    my gums were in *terrible* condition until last year after years of neglect I had tons of tartar, they cleaned that away and they went progressively deeper with the cleaning in 3-4 frequent appointments. I kept up with proper home care and my gums are tight, pink, and not bleeding anymore. Even my bloodwork got a bit better now that I don't have constant inflammation in my body.

    I had gingivitis and bleeding gums before getting root planing and doubling down on my oral care including brushing and flossing twice a day. Haven’t had any bleeding for the past 7 or 8 years and my dentist says my gum recession issues have significantly improved. Twice a year visits to the dentist for regular cleanings also help. Recently invested in an electric toothbrush but haven’t gone to a water pik yet. The flossing seems to be good enough. Bleeding gums are not normal so get serious about taking care of them and your teeth.

      @@sobiakhan1042 Gingivitus is probably the mildest stage of periodontal disease, bleeding swollen gums. I had a slightly more advanced version with gum recession (dentists measure the amount of recession in your gum pockets, normal is 1-3mm, I had some 4’s and 5’s and even a 6). I think gingivitus is totally reversible. If you have a more severe case with gum recession and bone loss then obviously that can’t be totally cured, bone loss is bone lost, but you can always certainly improve your condition. Definitely go see your dentist and see what can be done. Hope that helps, good luck.

    I do all of these except the water flosser. I do want to invest in one. My dad loves to talk about genetic history of “bad gums” running in our family, but I refuse to fall prey to that.
    I have one trouble spot w my gum line between 2 teeth. My dental hygienist has pointed it out but she’s stumped bc I don’t bleed anywhere else. And I floss the same there but it stays irritated.
    The gum brand gum stimulator (used gently) is helping, plus a salt water rinse after.

    • @TeethTalk
      @TeethTalk  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      stannous fluoride is great as remineralizing tooth enamel and preventing sensitivity. it can also help manage, prevent, and treat gingivitis because of how effective it is on plaque biofilm levels (it actually interferes with the plaque on a molecular level). however, toothpaste alone won't replace the mechanical motion of brushing and flossing. so keep up the great work of manual removal, in addition to your toothpaste! you got this!

    A certain social media dentist is telling people they don't need deep cleanings. I canceled my appointment 3 months ago and regret doing that. I have a deep cleaning on my wisdom teeth this week and one other appointment for two back molars next week Once that is done I'm making sure to focus on those areas. I'm also using Closys toothpaste with the Ultra Sensitive unflavored Original Closys mouthwash as I saw some good studies showing an average of 3.5 months in pocket reduction by 1. The active ingredient in that is stabilized Chlorine Dioxide and it's alkaline. I'm hoping that in a year I'll be back to 2's and 3's on the pockets. Taking lots of xylitol too.

    So I have some recession but only on a few of my teeth. I do have crooked teeth, I grind in my sleep due to stress, and I tend to brush and floss a little aggressively at times without realizing it. And I hear some people say your gums can grow back and I hear some say they can’t. So my overall question is, you said they can grow back to an extent. What did you mean by that? Btw love your Chanel ❤️

    • @TeethTalk
      @TeethTalk  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      overall -- if there's bone loss, they can't grow back. but! if the gums are only pushed back due to plaque/bacteria/buildup, then it is possible that they will look more full again (in a sense grow back) once the debris is removed from the teeth. it really just depends on the severity and exactly what the cause is. hope this helps!

      yesss! I think interdental brushes are great! but for the purpose of this video -- I was focusing on home care tools that directly help with gingivitis symptoms specifically (such as swollen, red bleeding gums). Although, yes -- interdental brushes can help, as well! I just usually recommend them for patients with full out gum disease, bone loss, or even for those with healthy teeth who prefer not to floss. Dentistry is based on the individual -- so generalized videos like this, are in fact generalized. But, definitely interdental brushes can be a great option to prevent gum disease, as well. The more gum stimulation -- the better. Here's my videos more about them: th-cam.com/video/qnBXFk3oawU/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/0ExqfpbbfnA/w-d-xo.html

    Or how about eliminating the infamous cause of plaque? Biofilm. Using vigorous swishing of salt water or mouth wash could help a lot.

    • @TeethTalk
      @TeethTalk  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Biofilm on your teeth, composed of bacteria and their secretions, is constantly forming and adheres strongly to your teeth, gums, and tongue. Swishing with salt water can't effectively remove it because it lacks the mechanical action needed to disrupt and break up this sticky layer. Brushing and flossing are necessary because they physically scrub away and dislodge the biofilm, ensuring thorough removal and maintaining oral health. However, warm salt water is great for soothing sore gums!
