Notes: - When in mount, instead of using brute strength to pry your opponent's arm, slide your arm under to bring their arm to your shoulder and then use your bodyweight. - Choking arm and bicep should be on the neck, not the face. - Clasp hands in gable grip with choking hand palm down. - Slide your head down their arm rather than going around their elbow. Finish with head on the mat - Sink hips and extend legs to start the choke. - To pass of to the side, bring only your foot first across opponent's body to avoid getting caught in half guard. - Use bodyweight and drive shoulder into their neck. - Turn hip away from opponent's body and bring the knee to their hips.
Thank you so much! My first submission in sparring was done because of this video. Roger Gracie you are the goat! De um brasileiro para outro, muito obrigado!
"adjust as much as you can". That's the part I struggle with every time I'm up against a tough opponent. They just tuck in their chin which I'm unable to pry out. Any solution to that, besides abandoning the submission?
Surprised Roger dismounts for the finish. Nowadays in sport BJJ, remaining in mount (albeit slightly to the side) defeats the most common escape that would otherwise be possible in side control. Watch Rodolfo Vieira vs Adam Sachnoff to see this in action.
I will ALWAYS watch a Roger Freakin Gracie instructional video when it’s available. If there’s 10 vids on one technique, I’m watching his.
I trained with you Joe Darce and Renzo when you were a Brown belt 19 year old in NY! Keep teaching ,Good Luck
lucky bastard
Brown at 19 is crazy
@@Yohan.B Probably had 19yrs of training by then
Watched this in the morning. Was able to get a head and arm choke from side control when rolling this evening. Thank you for the content 😃
One of the best videos I’ve seen on the topic

Pull ur shoulder down and in. If that makes sense. With their arm up like it should be, there will be enough pressure on sides to get the tap.
@@specksbrudda846 I agree. Try to go under the chin and use your body weight to scrabe the chin up before you dismount. I hope this makes sense.
1:30
The arm try-angle
Is that Nico Hulkenberg? 😂
Poor Oscar
