This is very similar to old Judo style attacking I learned in the 1980s. Twisting shoulder, move forward, etc. I generally did similar with head down. Great move shown here.
You're getting a lot of people... You're also Roger Gracie -- one of the best in the world!🤣🤣🤣 (btw, your bundles on BJJ Fanatics are awesome! Thank you!)
Professor Roger thank you sir🤙🏼 I will try this technique out tomorrow on the mat! Very subtle but effective way to isolate that elbow !!! Thanks for the knowledge sir💯🐐🤙🏼
@@kogrady2409 he’s gotten an X Choke or two from Mount 🤣…but he’s gotten a little bit of all the basics. I like the cross sides armbar, but usually get it from an Americana or Kimura - I like that setup…
Thank you, I was catching this at lot at my school, but larger people started grabbing inside the elbow of my non-pinching arm. I try to keep my elbow tight, but have trouble finishing when they get that grip. Any tips?
I was just thinking if you isolate the other arm with your legs 1st (once you've got side control) then lock that in with a figure 4 or similar, it would be very hard to push you off wouldn't it? Like a sort of crucifix. Also hard to bridge you off? Then you have more time to lock in that kimura to arm-bar finish? Am I over complicating things??
My arms naturally go 20 or 30° past the point where my arm is straight without an y issues or pain. Would this still reliably work on me?? Just curious I only ask because when I used to roll back in the day, someone caught me in a banana split one time and rather than tapping I thanked him, and I genuinely meant it lol, it felt great like popping your back.
What a silly comment. Did you even watch the video? Nothing he showed depended on or even involved the gi. At most, you could make the argument that without the gi, there MIGHT not be enough friction to keep the bottom arm trapped as tight. I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that’s what you meant.
That's why I like Roger's body of work, because you can always expect it to be simple, easy, and powerful.
The way jiu jitsu is meant to be

I wanted to see the leg positioning but still the details are great. No inverted stuff I wanted to invest at my age.
Thanks for sharing.
I see this work beautifully in no-gi as well
Wonderful, simple, effective, pressure, how it should be.
Roger is my hero.
Amazing thank you for the details professor!
This channel makes so much sense !
Great details, I've hit this before even from half guard
Grande mestre Roger.

Boa noite mestre.VC poderia colocar as legendas em português ? Obrigado mestre osss
When Roger says “I get everyone with this” I pay attention.
Problem is he gets everyone with everything…😜
@@FR-ty5vn 😂😂😂 true but he tends to stick to the basics in competitions. He’s the collar choke God!!!!

Nice! If anyone finds themselves interested in the anatomy behind what makes you tap to the armbar, check out my first video!
This is my "goto" move. There are so many submissions on the arm from that position. Start at the shoulder and work your way down to the wrist

Would the break angle still work if you put the top of your head on the ground for additional base?
👍
Salve salve rapaziada 👊🏾🥋

Let me confer with Gordon Ryan.
OK unless you're not wearing a gi while getting battered.
