Back in November Motorola resurrected one of the most iconic consumer products of all time with its new Moto Razr for 2020. The response was one of those rare thunderclap moments of universal jaw-droppage, from media and general consumers alike. If I were in charge of Motorola and saw that wave of misty-eyed adulation, I’d have redirected all my flagship efforts to folding phones, leaving the boring candybars to the low-end.
Well … given how things have gone for the Razr in the time since, I guess it’s a good thing I’m not in charge of Motorola. Because for its first fully fledged flagship in years, the company is taking a more measured approach. The Motorola Edge+ is a curved-screen smartphone that prioritizes performance over aesthetics, power over gimmicks - a Moto Z or Moto Razr this is not. UPDATE from Motorola today re software updates: "all motorola edge+ consumers will enjoy a clean Android 10 experience and are expected to receive at least *two* Android OS upgrades."
Finally, that was embarrassing Motorola. But IMO all phones should get at least 3 years of software updates.
TH-camrs are the only people who don't like edge screens. Everyone else uses a case so it does not effect us.

Motorola comment on the erroneous edge-tap issues: "You may want to try going to the ‘Moto App’ > ‘Moto Display’ > ‘Edge Touch’ and uncheck the 'Swipe up/down' option for now, as this can cause additional issues on the edge. This will be turned OFF by default in the Play Store update being pushed before launch. There are no plans for additional updates related to palm rejection, input detection, etc. at this time. However, we pay close attention to consumer feedback and will assess future updates as needed"

IMO the only foldable worth it right now (and when I say worth it is if you have disposible income and want a luxury item) is the Z FLIP. It still doesn't make much sense to pay so much for something that fragile but I love mine. But my daily driver is an iPhone 11 Pro Max in a Mous case so.. Not sure my z flip would survive long as a daily. Nice video as always Mr Fisher.
I don't get why everyone seems to hate curved displays all of the sudden. I've only had one (Note 9 since launch day), and have come to prefer a curved edge for the improved touch access. Never had any trouble with accidental touches, either. Is there something different about the Note 9 hardware or software that prevents such problems?
Every manufacturer optimizes for erroneous inputs differently. Also, every screen is curved differently - and aspect ratio plays a role too. Your Note 9 is much wider than this phone, resulting in fewer opportunities for wraparound ghost taps. All edge screens are less reliable than flat ones in this regard, but the Edge+ is the worst I've ever used.
The true competition for this phone OP8 and it costs a Benjamin lesser than this...... wow what prose . Mr . Mobile do you teach literature and voice modulation. Also art design !! I end up seeing videos of products I dont ever intend to buy or even like the category just for your take on it.
That transition from phone speaker sample audio to video background music at 4:21 was really smooth.

More detailed and informative compared to MKBHD. MKBHD doesn't even talk or about the reverse wireless charging and speaker sound samples.
Honest question. How to compare speaker sound sample? Moto's sound sample come from our own speaker before recorded by Mr.M's mic. Whatever Moto's speaker defect might come from our speaker or the recording mic, right? I think it's one thing that's better to be experienced ourself. Same with seeing 90Hz/120Hz display 'sample' on 60Hz display.

I bought this phone a few months ago. I love it. It's super fast, beautiful all around. But my favorite feature are the speakers. Excellent sound. Better then iPhone 12 (my son's phone) I play music while walk in morning they sound great!

@@TheMrMobile I couldn't agree more, the v60 is one of the most unaesthetic phones of 2020, and doesn't compete against the gorgeous phones of 2019. And while it does take a step back on a few features, it offers so much especially at it's price point. While I love the beauty of the Note 10 and the like, I really believe that the v60 is the Beast to all those Beauties... Would love your thoughts on the phone, as your opinion is one of the best on TH-cam. It's a top contender for lots of people it seems, warts and all. And dare I say, we need MrMobile's advice on it before decisions are made.

Sadly, Motorola lost me as a customer when they went back on their word and didn't update the Z2 Force to Android 9. They also stopped updating the phone exactly two years after its original release date (Aug 17 - July 19). Meanwhile, Google updated the original older pixel for longer (Oct 16 - Dec 19). I moved to a Pixel 3a XL and couldn't be happier. Sad because I used to love Moto. I had the original Razr, various Droids, original X and two Z line phones. I still miss the twist twist camera shortcut, chop chop flashlight shortcut, and Moto display.

The OG Moto X is still my favorite phone. The moto maker was so rad, even if damn near everyone picked white / bamboo / gold buttons, like I did.
@@bump_draft mine too, it was an awesome game changer minus the average camera and made me never want to use Apple again, it was the only android that was great enough to dethrone Apple at the time, I still love the stock Android experience and the og moto x did it the best. It felt like a Smooth performance monster compared to slow samsung at the time. I remember I tried to love the galaxy 5 but it felt so buggy and jittery when used next to the og moto x.
The speaker in moto edge plus must be good, bcoz it uses Waves (Audio Tuning Technology) which got Grammy award too and I do like the fact that it has new moto game, side screen features and Vidhance video recording feature used for enhanced video stabilization in this smartphone...I really like the new motorola flagship phone...Have no complaint on curved screen as "One Plus" and some other flagship is also using it still and the fact that it has headphone hack, great👍...Hope the sale prices go down in amazon or ebay...

Getting my fourth replacement phone due to bleeding edges and four grey bars going across the phone. This third phone went off the deep end is now showing purple everywhere especially in the lettering showing up as "double vision" letters. Black then purple right above the words. Insane. Three phones like this? I want to be out but Verizon said I'd have to pay a$1,000 to get out? I have a question for Verizon. Would you buy this phone for a $1,000 in this condition. Anyone? I'd challenge any Verizon CEO to buy this phone in this condition.

Moto gestures really sell you into their experience, I got a mid range Moto something, something fusion blue (those names are just weird) and wrist twists for camera, shake for torchlight and the Moto screen have become features that I would really like to see on other Android devices and the battery life is something that surprises even flagship phone owners, mine came with the slowest charger but criously, I bought a second hand PS Vita 2000 and the seller gave me a brand new TurboPower charger and man it dropped the charging time for me for 2-3 hours to 1-1:30 hours, it's something at least.
But the real question here is:
*Does it scratch at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7?*
Do you think I should go for this or the OnePlus 8 Pro? And does anyone know how I'm Motorola's software support is?

I've been rocking a pair of wireless buds for 7 months now and whilst they've been brilliant I couldn't live just with them when I have a pair of Soundmagic E10s and let me tell you the quad DAC makes music feel ALIVE in a way wireless buds never could. Having just the option is great, since when did we start arguing that taking bloody OPTIONS away from people is the only way to move forward??? That's supremely retarded.

I have had mine for 3 years now and I still love it. I have had no issues with it and love the design and color of it. I am currently looking to upgrade to the edge plus 23 only because I am literally out of room on the phone ( I take tons of pictures of my kids and dogs). Plus I want to upgrade the camera , it takes great day pictures but the night pictures are lacking. My kids have the edge plus 22 and their pictures look way better at night than the 20 model.

"We’ve partnered with Verizon for a long time. We have a great relationship over like 10, 20 years … we want to make sure we honor that relationship. We worked super-closely with them on 5G stuff, for example. We’re really closely intertwined with them. Also, we understand not everyone’s on Verizon. Motorola was great till Lenovo bought it. I've yet to come across a more futuristic and feature rich phone than Moto X of 2013.

How is the finger print reader and palm detection? I know some have reported issues with these. The 3.5 jack makes this appealing.
It's been a while ever since I last saw his preview I remember his Xperia Z2 review and Galaxy S5 but I like the way he does his presentations

So they say this is a Verizon exclusive. So if I buy this phone and put a SIM card in it that isn't from Verizon then this phone won't work? It won't connect to another service provider at all?
I was smiling all along the review! It's nice seeing moto get back to the flagships. I still have my Moto E2 4G (one of the first 4G phones in the Indian market btw) and the nostalgia hits! Chop chop and twist for camera are lit! It was a wonderful review Michael. Thank you :)

Did they fix the screen discolouration and weird screen burn issues of the Edge in the Edge Plus?
I still keep my Moto X 2nd gen and Moto X Style, both with bamboo back. Such beautiful phones... I really need Motorola to come back.
The only critique about all this is I see why they cut turbocharging down from 30w to about 15w my Moto z2 play could use 30w charging but it hurt the battery so much that I was replacing the battery nearly every year, I'll take better battery life over replacing a dead one every time it turn it on

never was a fan of curved displays to me the looks doesn't appeal to me it's just boring now and it never appealed to me years ago either it distorts the image on the side i just don't see the point of it, do it like the mi mix alpha and wrap all the way to the back or i'm staying away like i always have, i mixx flat displays with no curved corners but i guess i am in the minority of wanting no curved corners as now even sony has curved the corners of the display i just don't see the point and again it doesn't appeal to me

Does turning of the edges on the home screen work if you are using something other than the stock launcher, Nova Launcher for example?
I know 5G is not stable everywhere but does a phone with 5G have better connectivity on 4G than regular 4G capable phones?
The Huawei Mate 30 Pro nailed the edge detection problem, absolutely no accidental presses on the edges at all.
Razr is amazing, I got one.. everyone saying that battery doesn't last are full of it. Idk what Motorola did, but that battery lasts 10h easy, with heavy use of TH-cam.

Is this a good effort on Lenovorola's part? Maybe, it all depends on the quality of the 📷's. One of their weak points over the years? I use Verizon so I will take along look at this edge+!

Great review. I've been interested in this phone. Nice to see Moto back in the flagship arena, especially with so many positive things going for it. Maybe this will make for a 2021 more polished and widely available product.
