      Not to mention the back track, riffing hard on Ace of Base's "I Saw the Sign". It may be the exact right timeframe, but it still acts nicely as a tonal time machine to help reframe your mindset to a couple decades in the past.

    Buying a phone in the early 2000s was magical. It was an adventure each time. You were literally WOW'd by the advancements made each couple of years, from when you got a phone till when it was time to upgrade. I remember getting a moto razr right when it came out in what, 05? I think. Anyway that phone literally seemed like it was from the future. It was....incredible. Nothing has given me the same WOW factor since maybe getting the first iphone. But since then it's been an incremental and almost blurry step forward each time. No clear leaps or advancements stand out.

    I remember in the late 2000 I went shopping at my local flea market and found this phone complete in box (box was dinged but everything inside was ok) I helped out the owner move some stuff in the stall and the cut me a deal for the phone after , wound up costing something like 40 bucks. I wasn't a huge matrix fan at the time but I bought it anyway because my buddy really liked the Matrix series. I wound up giving it to them as a birthday present and the loved it so much they put on display in the house for years. They moved away but man I think they still have it lol.

    So, we had a class in high school called “genres.” It was basically a class where we sat, watched movies and analyzed and critiqued them. The teacher for that class was a director’s assistant in LA for a long time. And guess who she worked for then, that’s right...the Wachowskis. She got to keep a copy of the original script when she left and one of the phones they used on set. Hers worked when she brought it into class and she even used it for a little while as her personal phone. 😂

That's the one I was thinking of, I remember thinking that phone was so dope but it didn't end up taking off because the mobile gaming industry was almost non-existent at the time and phone capabilities were more limited in general. • @Unclaimed_Username

    God I was JUST thinking how dull my phone's design was. I mean..more power to the sleek and streamlined, but I grew up on a diet of 90s sci-fi anime and science-fiction where all the technology was at least vaguely japanese and CHUNKY. I miss chunky phones that had a noticeable presence in your pocket. It's why I still have a working Zune: the G I R T H. Though, with the incoming changeover to flac files, it's being even less useful than before and that makes me sad.
    I saw the N-Gage, that glorious gaming taco, in the end and got a hit of nostalgia from seeing it. I don't know when but if you could tackle that one, I'd appreciate it.

    • @TheMrMobile
      @TheMrMobile  4 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      @@Bevenanthonydcruze That's not how this works, and if you check out the channel you'd see I have a regular record of posting Surface reviews as quickly as I can produce them. The problem is, Surface has a shorter tail than Apple when it comes to content - so while running an Apple review two months late will still generate substantial views (and therefore income), the same can't always be said of a Surface product. That's only more true when the releases are as iterative as this generation of Surface products is. Based on the engagement we're seeing across other channels, buying the entire Surface lineup just to run a (late) review would be a substantial money loser. If there were something revolutionary or exceedingly newsworthy about them, I'd consider it - but there isn't.

      Most phones couldn't even be used as an MP3 player (that's partly why the iPod was a success) plus most had no Internet at all, and the ones that did could only browse watered down mobile versions of a handful of sites (not the full Internet) and with terrible speeds at that.

    i miss alot about phones from these days. what i dont miss, is how often you had to get a new one, because the old was obsolete and how they kept some things back or on a short leashe in order to sell you a new one a year later and keep an update path, rather then reach the end of road as early as possible. for example, sms storage space. were talking about160 bytes of space. yet they decided to make it so that you can only store 20 messages, and brought a new version which can store 50 a year later while it wouldnt have taken much effort or cost, to go from 10 messages space, to 200 in one generation. phones became a boring unified blob after 2010
