I love that engine! It has a combination of Thunderbird SC and Mustang SVO parts and a big turbo! I would love an engine like this with a wire tuck and some black tubing.
There is something about making V8 power with a small 4 cylinder engine ! I find it very cool ! I remember when people thought that making 145 horsepower with a turbo 4 cylinder was big numbers and then the SVO came along and that’s when I realized making V8 power from a small 4 cylinder was not only possible but the future because it eliminates all that weight in the front end and makes handling so much better without loosing horsepower .
I've had several 2.3T powered vehicles. They are additive, and fun. Unfortunately finding good used parts and/or the old cheap TRW pistons, is getting VERY hard, forcing you to buy a set of rods/pistons that cost as much as a set of V8 stuff. That is one of may negatives. Last car I did was a 93 mustang coupe with a 2.3T and a 5 speed. Fun, good mileage but I got bored with it. You can fairly easily make 250hp at the wheels with em but if you want more you have to spend a lot of money. And that's where I was at, so it went on the market.
I agree, parts are getting expensive & Some parts are quite sparse. It definitely makes a fun daily, but no comparison to my Supercharged 331 Stroker, so when bored...I have that! LOL
I find it easier to put short block in 1st, tidy up & route loose ends without head in the way on my XR4. Use a eng support bar when r&r t9 clutch as bell housing is fixed to t9 GBox and tunnel is tight without a lift. Put bat behind pas eat to escape turbo heat, would free LF bat space on stang 4 other coming uses, Meth tank, rad sprayer, transfer weight to rr👍
The wiring may be a bit of a challenge to figure out, unless you find a complete donar harness. Sure would make a one of a kind build though, Thats for sure!!
