    I find it easier to put short block in 1st, tidy up & route loose ends without head in the way on my XR4. Use a eng support bar when r&r t9 clutch as bell housing is fixed to t9 GBox and tunnel is tight without a lift. Put bat behind pas eat to escape turbo heat, would free LF bat space on stang 4 other coming uses, Meth tank, rad sprayer, transfer weight to rr👍

      I've had several 2.3T powered vehicles. They are additive, and fun. Unfortunately finding good used parts and/or the old cheap TRW pistons, is getting VERY hard, forcing you to buy a set of rods/pistons that cost as much as a set of V8 stuff. That is one of may negatives. Last car I did was a 93 mustang coupe with a 2.3T and a 5 speed. Fun, good mileage but I got bored with it. You can fairly easily make 250hp at the wheels with em but if you want more you have to spend a lot of money. And that's where I was at, so it went on the market.

      I agree, parts are getting expensive & Some parts are quite sparse. It definitely makes a fun daily, but no comparison to my Supercharged 331 Stroker, so when bored...I have that! LOL

    Hey Bo I have practically the same engine in my 94 ranger. I was wondering where I might find a new oil separator. And is that end correctly connected if there is a hose coming from it going to the PCV valve? Thanks in advance

    • @builtbybo22
      @builtbybo22  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello, I think your referring to the factory breather box on the drivers side of the motor. I looked for a new breather box during this build, but had no luck. As the breather box just basically has a metal screen inside, I ended up soaking it in carb cleaner overnight and then rinsing it out clean. On a Non turbo engine there would be a hose coming up from the breather box which a PCV valve plugs into and then runs over to the intake manifold. On Turbo applications the PCV valve is eliminated, and breather box, along with the valve cover are to be vented to an oil breather catch can. I do have videos showing the catch can routing/plumbing if needed. Hope this info helps!

      @@builtbybo22 yes sir it did and thank you for such a timely response. Very often on these videos you get no replies and are just left hanging. Hats off to you sir. I am wondering also how critical it is to the engines operation. I presently have a no start issue with mine that just came out of nowhere after running trouble-free for years. I have absolutely positively replaced everything including the head. ECM every sensor you can name and when cranking I get compression kickback and have already gone through three starters!

    • @builtbybo22
      @builtbybo22  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you are looking for a new aftermarket remote oil catch can, the last 2 I purchased were form Amazon. But are obviously also available from any Speed shop like Jegs, or Summit Racing etc.

    • @builtbybo22
      @builtbybo22  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The bigger TH-cam channels would find it VERY hard to reply to every comment as I think they get bombarded with questions and a lot of repeated questions. I would find doubtful that the breather box would cause a no start issue, and the main issue when its its plugged would be oil leaks due to pressures as the vapors cannot escape. My guess would be possibly ignition or Timing related. Have you replaced the ignition module, and maybe checked your timing belt tooth alignment?

    • @builtbybo22
      @builtbybo22  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Its not just the Turbo heads that crack, The N/A heads are just as bad, Its just the turbo motors make MORE heat. They crack for a few reasons....Shitty/Porous castings, Lack of material in high heat areas of the heads (Between the Valves etc), & the Dual Plug heads have even less material in these areas due to having a second plug hole causing it to be even worse for cracking..
