usb power cable: look for a usb breadboard cable - its a premade version of the cable he has to power it :)
or wire up a wiimote extention plug breakout board.
such a cool and simple mod by the way!
Love the tutorial - a lifesaver!
I will be looking into rockbqand 3 fender midi guitar mods too soon.

So the USB power doesn't work. I think the 5v is too high. I don't think I have a resistor to drop it to 3.3v so I might have to use a wiimote...if I can find one

Also, mine is slightly different to yours - my cymbals are the quarter ones whereas yours are fully round. So maybe this is the reason.

I found a variable power adaptor and tried the lowest setting of 3.57 volts and this isn't working for me. the midi usb (which is the exact same as in the video lights up red (and is recognised by windows in device manager) but there's no green flashing light when I hit the pads.

on this pin 3.3 and not 5v from the usb input... did you use a voltage regulator to lower the voltage to 3.3v?

Thank you so much for this video! I've just ordered a Midi adapter.
I do have a question about a different version of the Wii Drum Pad, yours has round cymbals and I have one that is quarter cymbals. In my version, I also cannot remove the Wiimote connection point (as far as I can tell.)
There is a Midi Port, but it specifically says Midi In. In your video, you say yours has Midi out? Or is that just a miscommunication :)
Either way, thanks so much! Super helpful and the prospect of putting these old instruments to use is very exciting!

Ok as a Guiter Hero Player with every game and guitar in the series i can tell you that your Drum Kit is from Guitar Hero World Tour which doesn't have a detachable Drum Brain (Drum Brain is the place where the wii mote inserts). The Guitar Hero World Tour Drumkit also doesn't have MIDI OUT only MIDI IN for Connecting Real Electronic Drums to Guitar Hero World Tour - Guitar Hero Worrios of Rock. The Drums Used in the video are the newer Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero and Guitar Hero Worrios of Rock Drums.

i would recommend trying to use WiiTar thing it's program for using your Wii Guitars and Drums on Clone Hero (Clone Hero is a FREE PC version of Guitar Hero with all the songs from rockband and Guitar hero and custom ones too). With WiiTar thing or GlovePie (Simular Program to Wii Tar) you can then convert your Controller inputs to Keybord innpots which your progaram should detect.

@@SuperSteveGaming Thank you, yeah this one is the one from the World Tour set. I think I have seen a setup where someone adds Midi Out to the one I have, but it was either using a Pi or arduino I'm not sure.
Unfortunately the Midi In is also basically only for drum pad calibration, which I'm curious if *that* would even work these days.
I think my only *other* option is to do the Wii-mote input, but I think that's not Midi and would have BlueTooth latency (from memory of a video I think).
Thanks for the reply! If you have any knowledge on how to get the world tour an easy Midi-Out mod, I'd be interested!
