Chain Sandwich Shops That Are Disappearing Across The Country

  • Whether you're on the go or just craving a simple, straightforward meal, it's hard to go wrong with a sandwich. After all, it's the most versatile food there is, giving hungry eaters everywhere a plethora of choices, from bread to meat to condiments and everything (quite literally) in-between. And while it's easy enough to swing to your local grocery store and grab what's needed to make the sammie of your dreams, there are plenty of sandwich chains out there with tons of locations to make satisfying your cravings easier than ever. Sadly, as with any business, opening a sandwich joint is a financial risk - and some beloved franchises just couldn't keep their doors open. These are a few of the most popular chain sandwich shops that are disappearing across the country.

Living in Northern Virginia and really miss home sub shop Cousin’s in Wisconsin. Fresh baked bread and just taste better than other chain shops. In Virginia, there used to be a shop called Mr. Philly, that tuna sub was the best ever and they had waffle fries, then suddenly they closed for good. Ironic that a Quizno’s set up in that same location, but they too went out of business. Maybe just a poor location for any store.

I noticed Mash always focuses on Jared Fogle when citing why Subway is failing, instead of their lack of fresh ingredients, paper thin meat cuts, declining quality, and underpaid apathetic employees. I stopped going to Subway for one reason, and that's their garbage tier food. Subway has also been involved in several scandals involving their meat containing a bunch of filler, and the buns containing too much high fructose corn syrup and other adulterants like azodicarbonamide.

I miss Quiznos, when they cancelled my favorite sandwich, the Tuscan Chicken I knew it was doomed. Also Potbelly got rid of my favorite sandwich which was amazing. Perhaps they should stop getting rid of everything I like, or I was the only one buying them.

I used to really like Subway, but one local store refused to accept coupons handed out by the local hockey team when they win a game. Jersey Mike's is more pricey, but I've warmed to them since I found out they have gluten-free buns.
Another youtuber called Company Man already did a vid about Quizno's struggles; he hinted that their too-easy standards of granting franchises resulted in some less-than-professional store owners.
