The Man gave an honest review and you micro manager haters can go pound sand! Good job sir, thanks for you're review!
really cool bike! Perfect handling, acceleration and brilliant look! I own 1190 adventure r and even now think that 990 smt looks better on the road :)
2017 and we still have to listen to dubstep
I can't wait for KTM to update this beast and bring it back along with the smr version. I have faith that they will, it's such a great concept.
They're bringing a SMT based on the 790. Husqvarna is also building a bike on the 790 platform.
Hi I have the same bike and I use Puig screen. The thing that makes all the wind noise and a lot of the buffeting is the mirrors Go for a ride without the mirrors and see what you think. The wind rolls off the screen hits the hand guards and the mirrors and rolls past your head. Re the gas cap... never had the problem we get to 47' C here in Australia. Are you using blended fuel with ethanol, that may be the problem. I use the Angel GT tyres the are great.
Never had the problem here in Europe either. I've only heard of the problem from the US, so it might very well be an ethanol swelling the plastic issue.
All we have is ethanol mixed fuel in US. To get non-ethanol fuel you have to search for 1 of very few stations and pay an arm and a leg
KTM needs to release a 1090 SM-T now.
I'm not going to strap a sensitive, fragile, $700 mini-computer to vibrating handlebars out in a wind storm with bugs, rain, and hot sun. That's what I don't really understand about bikers these days. A GPS unit is built from the start to handle rotten and harsh conditions, and if you buy an affordable unit, you can get lifetime firmware and map updates, get signal anywhere, and not cry a river when it breaks.
Lifted_Above clearly you’ve not experienced the TomTom Rider 40. Probably the worst alternative to a 12,000 paper map on a bike.
They do make a 1090 SM-T - but they've named it 1090 Adventure (road-sized alloy wheels etc).
you have a link for that tank bag? Thank you! Nice review BTW, also curios, you still have this bike? :)
How many miles...? Valve adjustments...?
Thanks for the video. You can also try a different helmet for wind noise and buffeting.
Is is posible to do some off road with such bike?
Have you weighed the bike with full tank?
Hey Nick Paul it’s stock seat cover or aftermarket?
What size of calsci is this? Large, medium, or sport? Also how tall are you?
Nick, hi, thanks for your video. I have recently picked up an 09 SMT and like the Wings slip on cans you have on your bike. I see the heat shields are not fitted, is that because they wont fit, or you choose to leave them off? Thanks.
I just chose to leave them off, i never tried to put them back on so I cant really help you with that one
Me too. It’s ok without them.
still oem tyres? you're giving the bike a hard time not ridinig it hard :D ... also i think your brake fluid is dirty - when did you last change it?
Hi, you dont need the over heating protection for the side pockets?
You can touch the Wings with your bare hand after a ride. They don't get crazy hot like the stock ones.
Great video, thankyou.
What is the seat height with the standard seat?
860mm
So is this a adv touring bike im kinda confused on what it is
It's a 990 V-Twin hooligan supermoto with a windscreen and luggage options :)
You want to sell windscreen?
Do you still have your CBR?
yep its still around, mainly for the track though
Nice BIke brotha
how to know gasoline level on gauge?
Low fuel light
Some things I noticed in your video: Your chain is too loose from what I can tell. The play is only 7mm according to the manual. That and if you do commute, just use an ipad or other tablet under the plastic cover on the tank bag instead of a phone. It's a lot more practical.
intro music is AWFUL.. it is distorted cause it is clipping as the signal is too loud. your audio producer should be reprimanded.
I have the same windscreen... mine flopped around like crazy at high speed. I modified it: flic.kr/p/kGoUQ8 , flic.kr/p/kGr5Y9
I have the same issue, maybe ill have to try your solution out
Remove the damm baffles !!
You forgot to mention one thing: this bike is thirsty. It drinks A LOT of fuel. I had one of these for a little over a year and sold it for these reasons: 1. Ugly. Yes, it's not pleasant to look at. When I bought it I thought I would get used to it and eventually come to like the looks of it but that didn't happen. So that was actually the main reason I got rid of it. 2. Gas consumption. It consumes just a little less than my 5 cylinder Volvo station wagon. 3. Uncomfortable. The seat just eats into your ass like nothing I ever experienced, and I had bikes with seats that one would think would be far worse, but there is something about the seat of this bike that just isn't right. 4. Jerky engine. Yes, you eventually get somewhat used the on/off kind of throttle response that many fuel injected bikes comes with these days, but on this bike it is just ridiculous. Also, if you are thinking of getting one of these, forget the stock luggage shown in this video. It fits a six pack and a tooth brush at best plus it's ugly and embarrassing looking. The bike is fun though. Very fast, very powerful, good brakes, good suspension and all but it just never made me happy to own it. It was just a thing that didn't spark any feelings inside.
Ugly? I guess that's up to you, secondly, V-twins with lots of grunt generally comsume more fuel that inline-4s and paralell twins. In the end, who cares what the bike consumes? It's about having fun right?
Ugly? One of the best looking sport/turing bikes KTM has made imo. Simple fueling mods/maps take care of the jerky fueling if its an issue for people. About 10 companies makes seats for these as well.
What a load of shit. The bike looks angular and menacing and if anything more handsome that a lot of the newer KTM bike range. As for the fuel consumption ........eh its a1000cc v twin. They all like a drink if you wind it on. Also there is absolutely nothing to complain about with the standard seat. I've ridden literally hundreds of miles on this thing and never felt anything other than totally comfortable during and after .This bike gets almost universal acclaim and for very good reason because KTM broke the mould when they made the wonderfully talented SMT.
What kind of mpg did you get?
I've done long freeway rides here in Europe at a constant 120km/h (75mph) in 6th at 4k rpm, and I get around 240km (149 miles) from the tank. And that seems to be the trick with this engine; 4k is the most fuel mileage efficient. I've done the same stretch at 150km/h (93mph) somewhere between 5 and 6k rpm and the fuel consumption goes up almost by a third. As for the throttle, I hated it in the beginning as well and bought a G2 throttle tube, which I never installed in the end because I learned the habit of riding with one finger resting on the brake lever, which helps one gauge throttle dosing immensely. I also feather the clutch at low speeds and have no problems there. It's by far the best bike I've ever had. I would only trade in for a 1090 or maybe the 790 SMT when it is released.
This is too boring and stretched out to watch.
But you watched the whole thing, didn't you. Ha
@@pault6281 No, I didn't.
