if i copied the same amount of stitches as the video but used 10mm knitting needles instead would this work for a small size? and can it be done using straight needles or do they have to be circular?
The pattern gives as measurement for a size S: 38″ bust and 22″ length. So what you are saying, is that the actual sweater is bigger than that? (If that is the case I would indeed have to size down)

Seeing it through, even a total novice like me also feels that even I can knit a whole sweater. I hope you keep on posting easy to do knitting patterns and other types of knitting items also, for beginners.
You did a great job teaching me how to do this. You gave me the confidence I needed to try knitting a sweater for the first time. I have crocheted many. But never knitted. So thank you for that. I will keep you posted on my progress. Kim

So glad there's such a simple and easy sweater tutorial! Been wanting to make a sweater for a while but haven't been able to find a good tutorial for beginners so this really helps me! I really look how it's it made mostly of garter stitches too because that is easiest for me!

This video is so simple! I am definitely going to try this out, I have just finished a beanie and I was looking for something else to make and I found this. Thank you for the effort you put into this video!
I loved this tutorial. I have successfully completed a jumper. This was a very simple piece of knitting. I only had to rewind the video about 5 times so I learned from this very quickly. When it came to doing the neck line towards the end of this video I placed a stitch marker on the first knit stitch so that I would know I only had one row of ribbing to do
I can just picture myself doing this in the evening with a cup of tea on the side and some biscuits.. However I can’t bring myself to knit, so il just watch this. Haha.
Instead of knitting a large item first off, why not just knit something smaller, like a dish cloth, #1 in rib stitch as the band on this sweater, and #2 a garter stitch as in the main body of this sweater, that way it is not so overwhelming, and you gain practice on your knitting skills, and it will be easier to knit that sweater, and enjoy tha cuppa tea and biscuits.

My great grandma taught me to alternate between left and right. Like when you’re finished a row don’t switch the needles and instead start moving the knitting from the right to the left needle and when finished go left to right and so on. I’m not saying you have to, I’m just pointing out that I was taught how to do it differently and I find it interesting.
This so amazing thank you so much love you explanation of knitting a sweater this is much easier than just planning or imaginating on how to do knit thank you so much love your explanation
Not knowing how to knit, I tried the circular needles and got all cast on plus row 1 complete. Then after putting about six loops over to the right needle, decided to transfer everything to straight needles. Transferred all the loops to two regular needles SUCCESSFULLY and now going a bit faster with straight needles. I am going to love this sweater...hopefully it will be complete before next winter...lolol.
Well this pattern is pretty simple and uses large yarn and needles. It would make an excellent first knitting project larger than a scarf. You could learn all you need for this sweater in c couple hours of youtube videos. You will need to learn "long tail cast on", "knit stitch", "purl stitch" and "bind off". You could totally do it.
VERY IMPORTANT: I just finished this sweater and quickly found out that this was WAY to large for me. I made size large, since I’m regularly a large but it turned way to large, the length was good, just too wide. If you ever want to try this I would definitely recommend sizing down 1 or even 2 sizes. I’m going to try this project again in a later time and I’m going to make a size small this time. BTW I did meet the gauge in the pattern.

Thank you so much for posting this. I enjoyed making it. I made this sweater in a size medium in the Fossil color yarn. I did add about six rows to make it longer, but I found the sweater to be smaller in width that I had imagined it would be. I'm usually a size 4 or s/m but I have a 36D chest, so that might be why. I am now making it in the size large in the color Glazer. I'm going to add the extra length again and also less ribbing on the borders. I came back time and time again, to watch and make sure I didn't make a mistake. Thank you again for taking the time to post this!
Update: I made a sweater for my mom using this pattern. It worked up so quickly and looks so cool. I used the denim colorway and the only change I made to the design was the neckline. I crocheted a mock turtleneck for the neckline. She loves it! It was her Mother's Day gift ❤

Hi Sewrella and fellow knitters, Asking if this entire jumper can be made on straight needles? My only concern is the neckline ribbing... would I just be able to use just straight needles? I usually crochet, not knit. Thanks!

I just finished making this sweater, this is my very first sweater and I am a beginner knitter. This took me about a week to finish. @@kovapang Hello! I am also a beginner knitter and this was my first sweater too. I knit a size small and ran into a problem with the sleeves and have a question. I cast on 28 stitches for my sleeves, then ended up with 23 after the decrease. Since I ended up with an odd number of stitches, I did not end with a purl stitch when doing the ribbing like you are supposed to. Did you have this problem too? What did you do? Thank you! 😊
@@megangibbs4145 did the pattern call for decreasing an odd amount of times? Like K2T 7times? If it did not then you might have missed a decrease.. in this case I’d undo or « frog » the row and start over decreasing an even amount of times.

This tutorial is really great - I just recently started knitting and this sweater actually looks possible. Thank you!
Wow! That's really awesome! Will make my own very soon! You're an inspiration! Thanks a lot! 💕

I know crochet and this is my first lesson I'm watching over this video thank you 😊..
You did a great job explaining everything! I love my sweater.
Thank you for this pattern! So simple yet cozy and beautiful. :)
Loved this. 1st one was a little wonky but my 2nd try is looking great! Such a great pattern to learn with. Thank you.
I did too, the gauge was correct. It is massively wide, I agree with going down two sizes.
I love this very easy sweater and this tutorial was plain and very clear... will you be doing more knitting tutorials soon????
Thanks, I was stragling to do the neck, with your video I was able to finish it
😊😊
THANK YOU SO MUCH LOVE IT.... WHEN AM FINISH MINE I WILL LET YOU KNOW....

I simply fell in love with this tutorial
Wow! What an awesome job you did describing these stitches! Thank you!
Brilliant, i've lost my pattern and needed to know how to shape neck and make straps for a Tank,
Thank you so much for posting this.
What a great video! Thank you!
Definitely going to make this! Thanks for the clear tutorial - your passion is contagious 💜 love it!
Update: I made a sweater for my mom using this pattern. It worked up so quickly and looks so cool. I used the denim colorway and the only change I made to the design was the neckline. I crocheted a mock turtleneck for the neckline. She loves it! It was her Mother's Day gift ❤
You're looking so pretty! And that sweater is so simple and nice!
I love this video. Can't believe it's one hour

Very good tutorial and easy knit.
Hi Ashleigh! Can I use a 5 bulk (instead of the 6 bulk) Charisma yarn with size 12 needles to knit this sweater? I'm starting to knit again after about 50 years and I want to knit this sweater for my granddaughter whose leaving for college in the fall.Thank you!
l'm very new in knitting. May l know how many stitches you pick up in neckline?
Best teacher ever 💖
Hi Sewrella and fellow knitters,
Asking if this entire jumper can be made on straight needles?
My only concern is the neckline ribbing... would I just be able to use just straight needles?
I usually crochet, not knit.
Thanks!
I did a mattress stitch for all of the sewing.
I want learn to knit I’m 16 years old
Go for it! I'm 55 lol,and I taught myself from only yt tutorials and I'm SO glad I did,,wish I'd have learned when I was your age🙂stick with it,,be patient, and you'll be making all kinds of things within a year~!! Now I knit EVERY single day😂 btw,my daughter got me interested in it when she was only 19.....she bought me those round looms as a gift, hich I loved, but quickly outgrew them and wanted to learn on real knitting needles. Good luck,,have fun and remember to be patient with it,for me it's not the end result but the process~!!

To the people who have already made the sweater:
-How long did it take for you you make it?
-How much yarn did it use?
Thank you so much in advance to anyone who answers my questions. I hope you have a great day and stay safe!!
I just finished making this sweater, this is my very first sweater and I am a beginner knitter. This took me about a week to finish. I made an extra small and I used 4 skeins of the yarn in the video. I did add length to the body and also the sleeves.
This is a great tutorial for a beginner like me. Thank you for making this video.
