    I watched it live and almost gave up after Farag won the first two. This was an incredible performance by Dessouky - he worked out how to get Farag out of his comfort zone which is one of the biggest zones in squash.

    Dessouki: You can't imagine how many people you made happy with this victory. It is not because we wanted to see Farag (a great sportsman and a gentleman) to loose, it is because we deeply knew you deserve higher things according to your talent and efforts. We also knew you had a very strong enemy. Yes;yourself, and you have defeated that enemy today. From now on, victories and defeats are on your way. Do not let them affect you. Congratulations, champ!

    The biggest win and comeback of the year!. Full marks to Dessouky. Faring out with a class like Farag is indeed a laudable thing. Since last couple of years Dessouky had been in and out of the tournaments. He was upset by certain umpire decisions at crucial stages of the match. However , in the second half of this year, he put that all behind, exhibited professionalism and determination...and there he is! Winner of the most prestigious title of squash for the Egyptians. Well done!

    Dessouky has made a lot of us very happy with this win, finally showing he’s reached the sort of composure and mental toughness required to beat one of the greats. It was all a mental game at 0-2 games down and I hope this triggers the recognition of his true potential. He’s always had the physical strength and shots, not everyone achieves the mental aspect as well. This is fantastic for squash overall. And one more thing, it looked like a fairly clean free flowing game as well, exciting to watch.

    • @jacobeliosoff1264
      @jacobeliosoff1264 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, despite his wins young Greg had many episodes of "losing it" and would often lose several points in a row after some tantrum against the refs. Joey and PJ often criticized him for it. There was one match against Ramy I remember where he got so upset that he hit the final ball out of court in frustration - very Dessouky-esque. Later in his career he greatly tightened this up (getting a mental strength coach apparently helped) and ground out many impressive 5-setters.

    Also - so interesting to have a top-top player with a build like his! The squash norm is tall and lanky or... short and lanky. I love that different builds can bring different strengths to bear, including in Dessouky's case, raw muscular strength. (Funny that El Shorbagy has been slimming down to be able to last against the likes of Farag. Maybe time to bulk up instead!)

    A lot of people saying he reminds them of Ramy but no he is more like Shabana but explosive. The backhand drop is played exactly like Shabana used to and sometimes Jonathon Power as well and it is a nightmare to retrieve, he can exceed everyone cause he has a better, stronger physical body and his footwork is out of this world.
