Okay I'm not a professional by any means and I don't know a lot about the opal industry but I actually did a deep dive into why the government postponed and stop the mining of opal.
Understanding that most governments made deals with China and another country because of technology that was about to be released against the individuals in question. I'm finding that a lot of the minerals on most continents were sold to China. Through poor deals and poor backing because most countries were depending on the American Patrol dollar which has actually been bankrupt currencies since the year 2000 so technically the American dollar isn't worth the amount of money the paper it's printed on😮😮😮. Would that being stated the Australian currency was also attached to the American petrodollar and in exchange for the debt to China Australia is selling off mineral and Mining rights to China and several other countries. Being that as it may China purchased most of the Exotic mineral rights from most countries and purchased 80% of the timbered forests in the United States to be cut and harvested and shipped back to China after processing. China has also bought 52% of the real estate between Lisbon and Sydney take a look if you don't believe me
