Yeah i also suffered with dry skin for years until my sister told me to add glycerin into my lotion, omg my skin has no dry problems it's also soft. Glycerin is now part of my lotion, very easy to blend with any lotion and creams
I was thinking about adding it to my lotion as well. My skin is so dry that it was even staying dry in the summer and not just the winter. Glad to hear it worked for you!
I keep one part to glycerin with 4 parts water mixed up in a spray bottle. I use it on towel dabbed skin after shower when it is still not completely dry and then follow up with my body moisturizer...this is great during winters..❤️

She's right. It has made mye skin softer, and after one week the grime and dirt came rolling off of my arms but not my legs. The effect is really great at areas that stay dirty, like between your arm fold. To test it just apply it on dry skin there, leave it for about 15 mins, rinse with water and then start scrubbing using your hands and you'll see the grime come off.
I'm actually using it on my face as well and it's just magic! I take my normal amount of moisturizer and add one drop of glycerin to it, mix it with my fingers and apply! Goodness it's a game changer! I looked for this video to check I'm not the only one! 🤗

They briefly touched up on it while making a facial spray, body cream, shampoo or body wash. Thank you for being right to the point in what it does and for sharing your experience, it is greatly appreciated! I didn't know what it was ans what it was used for and now I know, thank you!
Been using glycerine with castor oil for years on my entire body lips face tongue etc. Glycerine truly helps with moisturizing the skin. Put a bit in your moisturizer as well and you'd be surprised to see the difference. Even helps with healing the skin.
I use glycerin mixed with water (preferably flower infused, like rose water) as a diy sheet mask (with a small towel or I use an old t-shirt and cut it as a sheet mask. Sorry for my bad english :)
I wanted to thank you for this video. I have severe dry skin on legs especially and the glycerine has been a game changer. Unfortunately it hasn't worked so well on my face. I mixed a tiny amount to oil or moisturizer for a few days and broke out...
Awesome video! Thank you for all the great information on glycerin and how it worked for you. 👍 I can't wait to try it, because my skin is acutely dry year round.
I am super excited to try this. There is a product called Working Hands that is amazing on cracked and dry hands and feet. I was wondering what makes it so great and the first ingredient is glycerin. So I started Googling thinking I could find out how to use glycerin on my dry body. Glad I found your video. I have a small bottle and will be using it right away. My shins recently were so dry it looked like cracked clay lol. I soaked them, exfoliated a LOT with one of those Japanese wash cloths, and then coated my legs with Working Hands. Did the same thing again 3 days later. HUGE improvement but now I will be using the glycerin regularly and hoping it helps me have normal skin. I have always had such dry legs even when I lived in FL but now in NC with the heaters in the winter it gets so much worse. I will update on how my experience goes and how often I have to use it :)
For dry skin, are you taking fish oil on daily basis? Ideally 5ml high quality (lemon flavor) each morning. Also MCT oil is a good oil to think about. Do not limit animal or dairy fats, they are actually good for you in reasonable amounts. And try to implement fortified inactive yeast into the diet. I wish your dry skin goes away soon!
I have ichthyosis. I bathe with Epsom salts for a while and then Use a hammon cloth to get rid of the thick dead skin. After I get out and I’m still wet I use the glycerin , it’s better to keep moisture in. On dry skin it can pull moisture from your skin. If you use on dry skin, put it all over and let it sit. Then get in shower and use a hamman cloth and u will see the dead skin come off. Try not to use on dry skin. Sometimes after a bath or shower put it on while your skin is wet. Pat dry a little and add an oil , I use Argan, and mix them together with much less glycerin for extra protection.
Thank you Karen for sharing the different ways you use the glycerin and how it's working for you. I'm so happy to have found glycerin, its made a huge difference in my skin. I now use a balm on top of it instead of oil, and I'm getting even better results. The shea butter in the balm helps really seal everything in.
I decided to make glycerin [GLIS] + [UH] + [REEN] body spray with distilled water, aloe, and vegetable glycerin. I use it immediately after showering to lock in moisture.
Thank you for the tip Natasha. Excited to pick up a bottle to try this.. I’m wondering if you think hot showers causes dry skin and if 2 showers a day might be too much.
Thank you for watching my video Sherri! And yes, I do think hot showers can cause dry skin. We moved into our new house a little over 6 months ago, and we still don't have a hot water heater yet - so no hot showers, no hot water! I noticed a difference in my skin bathing with cold water. I did a video talking about how bathing with cold water affected my skin and hair, you can check it out here: th-cam.com/video/K1t5bhuWVmE/w-d-xo.html As for bathing twice a day, it definitely could dry out people's skin (especially if they are having super long hot showers). Personally, I love taking showers and baths, I've been bathing twice a day my whole life. I find it very hard to go to sleep without taking a shower or bath before bed, and I like having a fresh shower in the morning to kick off my day. But is all that drying out my skin? I think there a lot of things that can make it less drying, including using lukewarm water, not being in the shower too long, not using harsh soaps, using a water filter if there's chlorine in the water, etc.
The CLEAR SKIN Essentials Thanks for your reply! I also love the feeling of being clean getting into bed. Maybe I will reduce the heat a bit and also add a quick shower in the evening. I know cold water is really beneficial but I can’t get myself to do it! I only use Dr. Bronner’s soap for my body and hair. I love your bathroom fixtures, looks really nice. Congratulations on the birth of your 2nd daughter!
Ya try to lower the temperature a bit in the shower, this can help. Also, I bathe twice a day, but I don't use soap all over my body twice a day, only once a day. Too much soap can be too drying. I also don't wash my face in the shower or get my face wet in the shower (I wash my face with cold water over the sink before I shower). I find too much water on my face dries it out. We've been building our house from scratch, which has been amazing, but it's still a work in progress :)
How can I use this for my face which can get very dry? I use oils at night and do I just mix glycerine with the oil and apply to face or do I use it after the oills?
I used hyaluronic acid + glycerin sheet mask but I‘m scared bcs it says it can dry out your skin. And I used it in cold weather when it was dry and cold. Should I be scared or not? :D and Is it ok if I use Vitamin E oil (Fig seed oil) mixed with Aloe Vera gel and Honey for my face? I hope you respond and thank you 💓
Hyaluronic acid can sometimes be drying if your environment is dry. The glycerin won't dry out your skin. Since it's a sheet mask, it shouldn't be an issue (you're not using it everyday). If you notice your skin feels dry after using it, then don't use it again. It won't damage your skin, and you would notice if it's drying out your skin. You can use honey as a mask, but I wouldn't leave it on your skin for long period of time. Be cautious with vitamin e, sometimes can cause breakouts for some people. Aloe should be fine. You can spot test the ingredients on your neck or arm first to see if any cause a bad reaction
Glycerin and hyaluronique acid help to absorb water because they attract water to the dryest thing they are in contact with. If you use it as a mask (which contains a lot of water) it will be hydratating. But if you keep glycerin or hyaluronic acid on your skin while you are in a dry environment it will suck the moisture out of your skin. Use oil on top to jeep the moisture as it creates a barrier. But you can also rince your face after having using the mask, you won't have glycerin or hyaluronic acid on your skin so the problem is solved
I wanted to try honey instead of glycerine for a mask recipe. Would u recommend glycerine instead ? I did in the past, with honey, and had a few pimples from it But I’m going to try again bc i rediscovered using in my hair as a rinse out conditioner. And it hasn’t bother my skin. I do have a steady bottle glycerin in the cabinet and it’s amazing with just a tiny bit added to my oil.
I find honey is better for the face, and glycerine is better for the body. Based on experimenting, I find pure glycerin on the face can cause irritation and breakouts (fine if small amount is in skincare products, but have to be careful if acne prone). I would start with the honey for face masks :)
I found Dove soap very drying for my skin so won’t go near those products any longer! I used it as a hand wash near my washing up sink and my knuckles became sore and dried out!
You talked about hyaluronic acid.. I heard that it is good for an oily dehydrated skin... N also heard that if there is no moisture in the air, it dries our skin.. how to avoid this?
With the hyaluronic acid, just make sure to apply an oil or moisturizer over it, and not to wear it on it's own if you are in a dry climate. This will help to seal everything in and ensure it doesn't dry out your skin. Even though glycerin is a humectant like hyaluronic acid, I don't think there's a chance of it drying out your skin or making it tight like hyaluronic acid can do.
I'm hoping to make a glycerine and snail mucin facial spray. It's a basic ingredient in facial sprays and setting sprays to emultify and unify a lot of the other watery and oily ingredients. But it will make things slippery and gooey. If you've ever made a slime recipe with glue and borax, if you add glycerine it loosens up the mixture and makes the slime almost come apart if you add too much.
I've used it many different ways and it all works. I've used it on its own, mixed with an oil or moisturizer, or on its own and but oil or moisturizer on top. If you live in dry environment, best to mix it with oil/moisturizer, or layer oil/moisturizer on top to seal it in.
