"I don't distrust you because you are a woman, I distrust you because you are not as smart as you think you are" - Remember I told you Tywin was a badass.
And he also called Tyrion low-cunning, insolent imp. I wouldn't credit him for having a very good understanding of his children. Just even a broken clock is right twice a day.
"When Gilly asked if he should be training, and Sam said 'But I killed a WW,' that cockiness." I call it making an excuse to not work on something you're bad at, and don't even have the temperament for, lol. It's hard for Sam, he's in a violent place, with no inclination towards violence. Set aside how the story ends up going, his father should've let him become a maester like he wanted to.
Going out on a limb here, but I think Martin wrote Samwell as someone like himself. Martin was a conscientious objector during the Vietnam war while getting his journalism degree. For two years he completed alternative service work instead. Great reaction, as always!❤
There is that at the wall, Remember Sansa Said she knew Lord Royce when he stopped at winterfell to escort is youngest son Ser Waymar Royce to the wall to take the black. Ser Waymar Royce Died in the very first scene in S1 Ep 1. he was killed by a white walker, but he treated the others as his subordinates. BC he was a Volunteer and was placed as a leader over those Rangers.
It didn't make sense that Baelish would have to "give" Lancel to Olenna. Lancel is already part of the faith. He should've already told the High Sparrow the moment he became part of them.
Great reaction! Realistically, there no way Sam would be able to hold onto that weight after years at the wall. He'd have to be incredibly lazy and eating double the meal portions 😂
Thank you for calling out Sam's "I don't need to train" bullcrap LOL. Talking about he killed a Thenn and a white walker (got lucky mind you) as if he couldn't have died in this very scene loool
To your point on the Night's Watch, it's meant to be a fresh starting point for everyone who goes there. If you're a lord, you are no longer considered a lord. If you're a criminal, you're no longer considered a criminal. Everyone starts at the exact same place when they get to the wall and take their oaths. With that said, the Night's Watch has always been biased in favor of the Starks if you look at their history, and I guess it makes sense since the Starks have ruled the North for over 1,000 years and are extremely well respected in the North. If you're a Stark and you join the Night's Watch, it's like going into the military and being a corporal instead of a private lol. And for the most part, there's always been a Stark at the Wall. Sometimes multiple Starks, as is the case with Benjen and Jon.
As a fellow vet I enjoy when you talk about your service. I completely agree about what you said! I do think it's kind of tough for the nights watch because they have to take everyone (if not out of obligation then out of desperation) they probably do have a not insignificant amount of people who have some kind of disability you know because life is hard without modern safety and medicine. Sam does piss me off because you can tell he does have character but he refuses to use it to set himself up like you said.
Baelish offered Olenna a gift, "A handsome young man. Just like the one for Cersei." He meant Lancel. It was Littlefinger who convinced Lancel to confess to the Queen's crimes. "The same as for Cersei" means that Baelis gave Cersei the same handsome young man who confessed to his crimes. It was meant that it was Littlefinger who gave Cersei the squire who testified against Loras. Thus, thanks to Baelish, both queens were imprisoned, and yet both queens consider him their friend. Now if he wants to move his troops north, no one will stop him😌
Nah if Sam would have told ghost to sick them Allister would have had him (ghost) killed to be petty 😂 and Jon gone it would have been all hell breaking loose at that wall 😂
I get what you are saying about Sam. I guess my thoughts are that there are others at the wall who don't fight. They cook, clean, laundry, etc. Not all are built for fighting. But yes, self-preservation would inspire one to train to be better.
I feel that. I just assume it would be similar to irl Military where everyone is trained to be somewhat proficient in combat, then u go into your specialty. for example, my specialty was non-combat (human resources) but I still had to have basic training and maintain fitness as a "just in case". I just don't get how he doesn't take combat training seriously after interacting with a white walker and fighting the wildlings. I'm happy he has luck on his side 😭
I wonder if the army forces people to read books too. I'd say it's just as hard for non readers to read as it is for Sam to work out. Focusing only on working out is a cop out.
13:54 it actually is kinda like that. the only people who volunteer tend to be from noble houses who still see joining the Night’s Watch as an honor. so they tend to be given more responsibility become the ranks faster. for example, Walmart Royce, who’s the arrogant guy in the very first scene of the series, was a volunteer from a noble house. so he was promoted above the veterans he was with
@@neryskkiran1820yeah i wonder the same. i think a huge part of the fast promotion is they know the children of nobles will likely already be well trained and as someone else said, they could read. but i also think the knowing they volunteered and could be trusted was part of it
Cersei's little smirk when she gives Margery the venison is because it's a subtle insult. After all, Marge used to be queen to Renly Baratheon, whose house sigil is the stag
I forgot you were in the military. You understand how important certain things are to being a man and what's required of you. What values you develop as a soldier, which a lot of reactors don't understand when it comes to certain aspects of this show. Folks don't understand protocol at the Wall for example. Or how knights have a code of conduct that a lot of people don't understand. Being a man back in the day, at least, is something that would've been inherently understood in certain situations. If the society is telling you that being a masculine man is automatically toxic and negative, then people aren't going to understand this. Also good example is how Stannis conducts himself. Tywin...all of these men that are head of their houses and/or head of their military. Anyway, I've never heard anyone address these things so as a veteran myself, it's appreciated.
“You gotta do your time and pay your dues” is one of the dumbest things people say when holding someone back. I agree with you. These people will keep an all-star on the bench all season because he’s a rookie and they had to ride the bench. One is not another. Jealousy ruins the workplace
The only reaction tuber I am excited to watch your banter is hilarious my dude I took the SIFT a few months back and I think I am now ready to try for Army Aviation
Those criminals will need to have everyone's back. Ben Jen's comment was about him being no better than any other person there. They all came to the Night's Watch through different paths, they all need to pull their weight. Not about combat skills. You don't bring a unit together by alienating others. That's the lesson here, it's also the lesson the US military does really well. Jon has his talents, and Sam has his. Each person in a unit has their skills to make the unit whole.
Don't think I've ever seen a lady who looks better with short hair, but many can make it look on par, while convaying more of a female martial artist/action girl feel, which I absolutely dig 👊
As an out of shape, diabetic middle aged woman… I still agree with you about Sam insisting he remain out of shape. Because I’m not personally freezing in the zombie apocalypse…. But Sam is. He should be a bit inspired to at least get as fast as he can… if my fat ass found myself at the wall… I would start hitting the gym like crazy.
I'm totally with the "GET IN THE GYM" rant. I like Sam but he always frustrated me. Like, if I knew I had a family to take care of, I would at least make an effort to practice with a knife or sword or something to defend himself and his family with. To be a man of the Knight's Watch should've required this of him, I don't care how book smart he is. But he's too comfortable leaning on the fact that he killed a Thenn and a White Walker...accidently. And he continued to get pass after pass throughout the show. Plot armour because of being a likeable "every man", I guess? I don't know. I really didn't like this aspect of his character and how the show portrayed him. Like he accidently walked off the set of a Harry Potter movie and no one ever caught on. Heh.
Cersie was so DUMB for this! Lancel came to her. He came with that dang symbol carved into his head talking about how he lead her down a dark path and everything and she still gave those sparrows power. She should have exterminated them while they were still scuttling rats with the wrong secre.
