One thing most people miss. During his confession, Ned said something like, "let the High Septon and Baelor the Blessed bear witness to my words. Jeoffrey is the one true king..." etc. The High Septon and Baelor are both figures from the Faith of the Seven. Ned worships the Old Gods. He "swore" his false oath by a religion he doesn't follow.
Well yea he doesn't follow that religion but I don't think swearing it by the old gods would have really translated to the audience (I don't mean us, I mean the people watching the execution... and Joffrey and his buddies of course).
When Ned said, "Baelor," he was directing Yoren's attention to the statue of Baelor, where Arya was crouched on the base to get a better view. He was asking Yoren (who had met Arya before, so he knew what she looked like) to make sure Arya didn't see his execution.
10:40 the Aegon in Aemon's speech, his brother, was Aegon the 5th of his name, as in the 5th King named Aegon. These Targaryens love re-using names, and there were many, many more Aegons who were never king.
33:10 Baelor the Blessed is sort of like a Saint in Westeros, he was a pious (ultra overly pious, leading to his death) king from many generations back. Funny thing tho, he was a Targaryen.
@@baron7755 I have and you comment still doing make sense many Targaryens are devote followers of the faith and multiple princesses literally became septas like I said just because they aren't fully fallowing all it's teachings doesn't change that .
in order to not point out arya to the lannister allied guards pushing ned stark, he simply told yoren “baelor” to look at the statue of baelor. yoren saw arya on the feet of baelor’s statue and went to protect her. The Sept of Baelor is a church of westeros’ seven deitys built by past King Baelor I Targaryen. Even though the Targaryens are of the old continent of Valyria where they had their own religion named “The Old Gods of Valyria”, Baelor followed the Westeros’ “Faith of the Seven” Religion. Most Targaryen Riders of the past named their dragons after the old gods.
You should watch the histories and lore it would help with all the specifics either you can post it here or on Pateron. Baelor use to be a Targaryen king who cared about religion that is the stature Arya was on. And why Ned said for the guy to go there to stop her and take her away.
It's kind of amazing how back when this first aired and the years that followed we were still not super used to main characters being killed off like this. I remember being genuinely shocked because I thought we were going to be following Ned throughout the series. I wonder how big an impact Game of Thrones had on other shows feeling more comfortable killing off important characters, definitely feel it's more common nowadays
@ I dunno. I lived through TNG watching a main character get killed in S1. Executive Decision was billed as a Stephen Segal movie back she that was a good thing, he went bye bye in the first 30 minutes
That Dothraki blood rider to Khal Drogo was really just defending him and the Dothraki way. They don’t mess with witches and spells and blood magic. It against their way and Khaleesi went against all they stand for to try to bring Drogo back. I understand that she loves him but that was not the way. You can’t really blame him for wanting to fight.
That was the first time I screamed to a show” they can’t kill him, who kills the male lead ?? I will not watch anymore “ I was so invested , I felt so betrayed 😆. By the 4th season i already knew that this is no ordinary show !
a Ser is a title but it isn't higher or lower than a lord necessarily. many Sers are lords and many lords are sers. ser just indicates wether the man is a knight or not. but in this case. in a lannister camp there are none higher than a lannister. the hierarchy of lords basically goes. King Lord Paramount(they control whole kingdom sized areas. ie lannisters/starks) High Lord (the Umbers/ boltons. most bannermen(lords who are sworn to their lord paramount to go to war for them) most bannermen are high lords) who typically control a large amount of land to themselves. Lord. these lords are typically directly under high lords. and are their bannermen. control a sizable amount of land. minor families in the scale of things you probably wouldn't recognize any names i put. and then below lords there are mayors, landed knights and even some smaller lords. and anyone of these ranks can be a ser
idk I still say the Dothraki function just fine but khaleesi is breaking their moral code, I get why they blame her for letting the witch treat his wound in the first place
Getting unreal to think there are still people out there who never saw "GoT" or caught spoilers just by existing, since it went off the air some 8 years ago. Oh well!
There's a bunch of people who haven't seen all sorts of major series and movies. I am out of the loop on a handful of stuff, when I start watching movies that'll probably surprise a lot of people too lol.
I watched season 1-4 earlier this year and had never seen it before that and had never been spoiled even though I knew tons of people who had seen the show and was constantly online during its airing. It's amazing how divided the internet actually is. If you're not a part of a specific fandom, you literally see nothing about it in your circles.
Beg for likes all ya want. I always give one (if for no other reason to mark it watched for myself), but plz, don’t tell us you need any more to finish the series. We know what the GOT army is already doing for your sub count. ;)
Gained 1k that’s pretty awesome! I really just like seeing yall in the comments section between the episodes, I hope we can watch more things together. I’ll keep going as long as I have money to get the edits done. 🤞🏽
@@lilbitx496Functionally, Tyrion isn’t a lord since he doesn’t hold any land. I’m pretty sure It’s more of a courtesy to address the sons of lords as “Lord” and daughters as “Lady”.
@ but that person called him Ser as an honorific. You clearly haven’t read the books. In this episode he reacted to and the reason I commented is because Ser was just used as an honorific.
I’m just answering, no specific tone in my response! It means nothing, if ya think it’s cool go for it if you think it’s not for you, then no harm no foul.
Appreciate you guys!
Title mistake it says 8 when its actually 9

I love love LOVE Maester Aemon's scene with Jon, such a great performance by that actor, may he rest in peace.

royal families love reusing names in general, thats how England ended up with 8 Henrys and 6 Edwards

Why is that funny? Targaryens were followers of the faith since the dynasty began tho that didn't always fallow its teachings to the letter.

Baelor is the statue - a Targaryen king from long time ago
Ser - is the title of a knight
11:20 we are to understand that Daenerys' hair is silver. In the real world we call it platinum blonde, for for the show its supposed to be silver

Jaime is the best swordsman in the realm thats why Robb avoid one on one against him
also he killed tens of stark men off screen and almost killed robb but his sword stuck on someones skull

The 9th episodes in GoT have a reputation :)
Just changed it, thank you!

I like to think that Ned's last words were directed to his sister, Lyanna Stark

"Ser" is a title, it is also sometimes just a general honorific. In the same way that Tyrion is not a Lord, but people often call him Lord.
Tyrion is not a Lord? Do you mean Jon or??? They’ve never called anyone who wasn’t a knight, ‘Ser’.
Ser is only a title for a Knight. That’s why you hear the hound tell people “I’m not a ser” since he isn’t a Knight. Tyrion is also absolutely a Lord.
