    These american birds look so exotic, the Cardinal hen is beautiful. Good work, you've inspired me to have a good at a DIY camera mount. Thank you

    Great idea. We are trying to come up with a solution so the crows can eat and the cats can’t sneak up on them. Can’t wait to build a feeder like this one! But we don’t use kill traps for mice or rats, we use non-lethal traps that are cheap and work every time. We just take them to the edge of the woods and let them go. Of course mouse-proofing is a better idea since they’re food-driven. They make metal cans with lids to hold bags of bird food, and mice can’t access them.

    I'm so glad to see this idea. I have long wanted to make a feeder that would house my trail cam. Thank you!

      We enjoyed the rooster being around. It eventually went back to the hen house. Thanks for watching and posting!

      I drive a short piece of pipe (about 1 foot /30 cm long) into the earth. Pull it out and stick the long pipe (with feeder) into the hole. Thanks for watching.

    There’s definitely a pecking order and the blue jays are the kings and queens

    I've just installed two bird feeders in the backyard and would love to record all the birds that visit. Would you mind sharing a link to the action camera you purchased? Was it from Amazon? Thanks!

    How you trigger button on that camara? WiFi or remote?

    • @southernrrman
      @southernrrman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Game Camera triggered itself when it detected motion. The Action camera I had plugged into a charger (on a long extension cord) and let it record for several hours. Then I edited all that footage to get the good shots. I wish it had a trigger!

      Good question! The game camera will go for days. The Action Camera, maybe a couple of hours.

    Nice I would like this but you have to clean the feeder if the seed gets wet would cause bacteria and another reason those house finches can break the seed husk
    and eat the inside and the husks on the feeder or on the ground can cause harmful bacteria and also the edit was fixing something so don't mind that

    • @southernrrman
      @southernrrman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you are right. If we feed the birds we must insure we are not doing harm at the same time. This was a special feeder built just for the video.
