    Anyone saying they are too expensive, get real. Even at 250 with a 25 year warranty that's 10 a year. Where can you get a tool with a 25 year warranty then you all cry about the price 🤦‍♂️

    They are too expensive to use as tools and are now just for collectors. Expect a rapid turnover of designs.

    *Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.*
    It's a shame, the direction Leatherman is going, but, at the very least, it does make room for all sorts of variety, test cases and potential innovations.
    The multitool world may be past the golden age but it isn't in dark times, just *interesting* times.

    A nice overview of the principal players...the lack of innovation on the part of LTG is what will lead them to the road of perdition...thanks!!😊

    The Diesel is still available (although I'd say on "life support"); the MP400 was discontinued late quarter 2023 (as per response to my email to CS inquiring so).

    the diamond file is the most important tool on leatherman. a high quality file is without equal. that lets you do advanced machining work (no joke) with flats

    One sure way to make a company doomed to fail: they become focused on trying to manufacture market demand instead of trying to manufacture innovative products or services. This is the surest sign that a company no longer serves any useful function in the market.

    Great line up for the High End multitool. It can be advantages if there is an 11 year master plan but not many can master it. At time situation won't allowed it, even maybe the novelty starts to wear off. But there's always a Plan. With the others i.e. Nextool, Roxon etc, they tend to follow rather than leading the charge. Again there are some advantages for that too. Most of us use them for parts & mods. We do anyway. But among the lower end, there will be "one" soon that might rise to the ocassion. "There can only be one". Nowadays we have flashlight multitool to ballisong multitool. It has gone to a stage where they are either a gimmick or collectors item which evidently must be the 3rd step of the 11th year..!! Another great thesis, we enjoy watching your vids mate. Cheers from Australia.

    The mini tool is quite unique at offering somewhat large pliers in mini size.
    I think such tool still have a place if people wants such pliers in a compact package.
    However I would have liked something with 4 implements instaed of 2.
    Even if the handles do have tools.
    As for nextool it's easy
    You get captain and flagship pro
    Black knight and W2
    Mini flagship

      Unfortunately I am. To this day I don't know why, apparently Leatherman customer service isn't exactly sure either.

    I really like the mini leatherman. But what about what you'd call micro sized I guess. Like the gerber dime, vice, nextool mini sailor, leatherman squirt etc? Is there many micros I've forgotten?

    • @hvacbudget8600
      @hvacbudget8600  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are many keychain sized multi tools, hundreds maybe? Sog had the crosscut, crossgrip and snippet to name a couple. Leatherman used to have the style and juice. Gerber had the fit and eclipse,solstice, and artifact. Swisstech started out a US company with the micro tool. Sebertech was another US micro multi tool company. Buck knives used to sell victorinox style multi tools. The most recent small multi tool startup company might be windeler with their magnetic multi tool.

      @@hvacbudget8600 i was more referring to the small pliers based ones. Nextool makes a couple as does gerber and leatherman did i dunno if they still make them. And swisstech has a couple of mini multitools. I can't think of any other little pliers based multitools I'd love to see more mini ones and I wish victorinox made a little one. I especially don't like all there little chunks of metal with a couple of dubious uses then calling themselves a multitool

    • @mattyvlietstra5017
      @mattyvlietstra5017 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I wish roxon would bring out a micro pliers based multitool something smaller than the M1 M2 perhaps m0.5?

    • @hvacbudget8600
      @hvacbudget8600  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @mattyvlietstra5017 So as far as keychain (xsmall) plier based multi tools
      Leatherman has none at the moment.
      Gerber has the dime and maybe the vise.
      Sog's smallest plier tool in the Aegis MT which I think is only 2.4oz or half the PowerPint's size.
      Roxon's smallest plier tool is the M2.
      Nextool's smallest plier tool is the mini sailor.
      Swisstech has a couple foldout pliers for the keychain.
      The rest of the options are like the true mini tool very similar to the Leatherman sqirt, and other generic copies. I have seen several copies of the Leatherman micra with pliers instead of scissors.

    What about Victorinox

    • @hvacbudget8600
      @hvacbudget8600  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Victorinox essentially has only the Spirit and Swisstool in different versions that are plier based. Both of these, people trace back to the Bear And Sons tools they owned for a bit. Victorinox has been satisfied with essentially two plier based multi- tools for years.

    My opinion is these tools have no practical use. If I’m working on a project at home and I need a file or pair of pliers, I’m going to my tool box and get a real pair of pliers or file. If I’m away from home or a service call, I have a tool bag with full size tools, not miniature tools. I’ve seen people carry these multi tools but never use them.

      I have a storage building a closet and a truck diamond plate tool box on my truck full of tools, but often I'll be at my parents or my inlaws or my house and it's easier to do a quick project with my charge ( I carry a bit kit and Rachet driver) also ima fork lift driver at a plant that manufacturers oil pumps for Ford and GM transfer case pumps and I have to fix somethan on the fly couple times a week for my self and a few others. It'd be frowned on us bring in our tool there our maintenance crew is always busy with crappy machines to fix the small stuff I repair. Sorry so long wind here but my point some of us get our money worth out of em.

      I use mine every day, cutting wire seals off trailers, opening shipments so customers can inspect them, replacing blown fuses and bulbs on trucks and trailers. I've pulled or unscrewed at least 50 screws out of the old metal roof over our addition so I could replace them and prep it for seal coat. I'm not lugging around a toolbag when 1 tool can do so many tasks.
