Love your comb mod. When horseback riding, in the desert, we often need a comb to flick cactus stickers off our horses. I would love it if my wife could carry in her saddle pouch a multi tool with a comb.

If they offer tools with high end materials, mid range materials and cheap, thus creating options for newbs and veterans, they will definitely be huge threat to all multitool companies. Imagine being able to put a magnacut blade in your multitool, and that's all you had to buy was the blade? 🤔 Customizing your own multitool is what I've wanted every since I got more into multitools not long ago. Right now, Leatherman has a hold on the high-end market because of the higher quality steel they use in general. People still buying the Arc for over $230 in US, and even more overseas, mainly for that magnacut blade.
In Europe we are just pidgeons for them because 300€ for the Arc.
I'd never heard of Roxon. I wanted some sort of small hammer-tool, and that's how I discovered them. Bought it, love it, and use it nearly daily. The "extra" tools in the handle are so-so, the knife isn't very good, the weird piece of metal trying to be 50 tools in one isn't useful. They do have a small file. I've used the file. Can stand improvement, but it's a useful tool. The saw is so-so. I want to replace two of the three tools with a quarter-inch driver, and figure out a way to store extra quarter-inch bits. The hammer's claw is handy, and serves as a reasonable pry tool.
The thing to remember about the hammer is that you're not going to be doing carpentry with it, you're going to use it for stuff like smacking hing-pins in place, or those plastic anchors that you put into drywall. It's not so much of a hammer as it is a Very Sturdy Hard-Tapper. I used it to smack out the back-plate out of a new stove fan. The linesman pliers are surprisingly easy to use despite being part of a hammer-head, and the wire cutters are pretty good on electrical wire. Plus it comes with two extra wire-cutting blades and the tool to manage all of the screws--an excellent move.
Side notes: it feels surprisingly good in the hand, and once you learn that the open/close "switches" are finger-nail and not flesh driven, it's a great one-hander for a lefty as well as a righty. Also, I'm not one of those "fidget people." I fidget with this thing quite a bit.
I think that your review of these products and mine of the hammer both share this in common: it's just "there" enough to be worth carrying, but there's weird stuff thrown in that seems like the engineers were commanded to shove a kitchen sink into a thimble.

I hope their Flex (the modular tool) has a modular options for the main tool. I would personally like the main tool to be a huge shear or scissor head.

Mr. Kincaid, I think its well established I love Leatherman and other select multitools from different manufacturers. I'm surprised you didn't throw the GOAT tool in the mix.
I am waiting for their Flex coming, I saw the maxlevel video about it, look like a Goat copy. I visited their website but seems Unfortunately they don't ship outside USA. Still I can get some of their product on my local amazon (fr) but not the full range. Great review as usually. Liked alsi the one about multitool of the pre-leatherman era👍.

Once they started raising prices, discontinuing popular models, the joke that leatherman garage is (limited run tools that most people who bought them will never use and keep as a safe queen), and the joke that the free series is (sorry magnets don't count as "technology" leatherman its a fuckin magnetic detent nothing special nor impressive engineering wise) thats when I realize they weren't going to improve anything unless competition comes along and kicks them in the ass.
Hey Roxon, when I need a tool, nail clippers are the last thing on my mind.
It depends of if it's an EDC item or a working multitool.
I do have a multitool with a nail clipper which is useful to me.
Sure I don't want nail clippers in many multitools like you can find can and bottle openers or even worse, a glass breaker...
I can complain about fire starters in multitools too. I mean I tend to have a lighter even if I don't smoke at all.
And I'm sure I will react if something in the vein of the storm, phantom, super tool, charge, surge, dual force, center drive, power access and such will get a nail clipper on them.
But as far as mini format multitools I don't mind that for an EDC tool or a keychain tool.
As much I do strive for real multitools oriented for workers (and tend to advocate against camping oriented tools, finger care and other things in such) I don't mind those when the tool is an EDC or made for something else than just working.
I mean if i have a multitool with a razor, scissors, a comb, a nail clipper, an ear pick, tweezers, a nail file. I would be happy to have that 😀.
For me Roxon is trying tool layouts while leatherman don't.

I think what's important is the tool set and format of a multitool.
Leatherman could actually innovate rather than just making high end versions of their past tools.
I wish Roxon focuses a bit more on the 1/4" drives because it's entirely doable with the square drives.

I don’t own anything Roxon but I’m slightly interested. If I want a budget multitool, I usually pick up a used Leatherman, Gerber, or Victorinox on eBay. I’ve gotten some great tools for great prices doing this. My questions are: 1) Are Roxon pliers on par with Leatherman’s? 2) Are the scissors on par with a 91mm Victorinox? For reference, my edc multitool is a Rebar that I added Fuse scissors to. I honestly feel like it is the best multitool that was never made.

I'm loving roxon so far. I've got the phantom and all the blade options and a rhino. Their fit and finish is on point and the ease of getting to the small implements is awesome. I like the fact they're thinking outside the box. Seeing stuff never seen on other multitools. Nextool is the other one to innovative in a why not seen by leatherman anymore. I wish Nextool had a mid sized multitool like the powerpint

The Roxon tools have a really nice design, but the tool choices are questionable with their smaller multitools. I have a Roxon M2 and I really like it. But I modded it completely by removing the silly tools like the nail cleaner and the box opener. Why does this tool have no flat screwdriver? I made a bigger one out of the nail cleaner and a smaller one myself. Also added a pen and kept the awl. Now this is my tool for random EDC, for work I carry a bigger tool.
I also hate the fact, that every multitool has to have a bottle and can opener. I never use these!
I would love to see a M1 mixed with a M2. Pliers, the big scissors, flat and Philips screwdrivers, maybe a folding out pen and every tool locking. The non locking tools on the M2 is a big downside and one reason to carry it just when I don't expect to need a tool at all (because of its size). Also the cutters on the pliers are bad for stripping wire, which I often do. Almost every tool I own can do this better.
Recently tried to restore an ancient hack saw from my grandpa garage.
Used Roxon and Leatherman just to compare.
So, doing a rusty flathead i chipped the sh*t out of my Surge’s flathead driver.
Then i used Roxon ks2e’s one.
The screw was really stuck, and needed a lot of force, but it succesfully unscrewed and left nothing but a little soft dent on my Roxon, probably thanks to its DIN 1.4116 steel.
I had two impressions :

Past roxon tools weren't that solid but I think since they are updating their steel, I believe they can compete with higher tier brands like leatherman and even victorinox.
But if you try abusing on their past multitools I don't think you will get the same results.

I just got the Roxon M1 yesterday after you showed it and it was nowhere near as impressive as I assumed it would be. I am planning on who I could give it to. I have absolutely no positive impressions of it. I have a few other Roxon offerings that are decent. But the M1 is a joke, seriously. Don’t waste your money on it.
