As anger grows in Milwaukee over the police killing of 43-year-old Samuel Sharpe during the Republican National Convention, we speak with his sister, Angelique Sharpe, who says the family is fighting for transparency from the authorities and the full video of the fatal incident. “We really want justice for my brother,” says Angelique, who also explains that her brother’s life had been threatened by a “bully” and that he had actually called the police for help before he was killed. Samuel Sharpe was an unhoused Black man shot 27 times by police on Tuesday - but the officers were from Ohio, part of a deployment of thousands of outside law enforcement members in Wisconsin for the RNC. We are also joined by Wisconsin state Representative Darrin Madison, a Democratic Socialist, who says both Sharpe’s death and the killing of D’Vontaye Mitchell by hotel security guards weeks earlier point to a larger problem of anti-Black violence in Milwaukee.

Amadou Diallo had a wallet in his back pocket. A wallet he was reaching for when NYPD police asked him for identification because he was entering his own home after working the night shift. Police shot 41 rounds. Out of the 41 rounds, 19 bullets hit him. Mr. Diallo, you are not forgotten. 2/4/1999.

Videos, there were multiple videos, and they all show the same thing. He lunged at another man with a knife. Stop reading from someone's script and explain, the level of force that Mr Sharpe was defending himself from. What weapon was being used against him? Why isn't it seen on the videos? Saying someone was threatened is one thing, what was he threatened with? Details details details. If you are gonna make a claim, show the details that make the claim a valid claim.

I get that you love your family no matter what, but this is just embarrassing. At some point personal accountability comes into play. And you DO like playing the race card. If the police had failed to act, the allegation wouldve been that they didnt care enough about black life to save the other man from being stabbed. White people are killed every single day by the police, and no one cares…because no one SHOULD care about a criminal killed while victimizing other people. Screaming into megaphones and marching and rioting every time a black man is killed during commission of a violent crime is crying “wolf”. It is not going to have the intended effect. The public can see the bodycams. I hope the family has time to reflect and find closure.

When I moved to my city I remember seeing hundreds of homeless brothers that weren't mentally ill or drug addicts, told me they had family but were on the streets.

I agree, when I had a relative who none of my other family couldn't take care of, I worked in my spare moments to get her to a care facility. She was never homeless, but with a lot of effort I got her into a facility. She is well cared for and her medical and mental needs are being seen to. It takes hard work by concerned families to get it done

Ok, so the family is now upset. Were they upset when he was alive and living on the streets? Where were they? There are any number of care facilities that could have seen to his needs, but instead they just leave him on the streets than cry when the street kills him. I've been faced with a relative that had to be placed in a facility, it's hard, but I take comfort in the fact that the relative is well cared for. I didn't abandon her and leave her on the street, I took spare time to see that her needs were met. I've seen it before where the families only pop up after it's too late.
Do you know the family? Here in Milwaukee the place for mentally ill has been closed down. Taking care of mentally ill people can be tough and expensive. Think about that before you open your mouth to condemn them.
There are always alternatives, there are state resources available, not just city resources.

You've just made me cry. Something similar happened to one of my Caribbean uncle's, Alphonso. He was homeless, for years, in Virginia, until he died (some years ago) from the cold weather, which also caused an infection in one of his body parts (left arm if I'm not mistaken). The majority of my Caribbean, so-called, christian/political, family allowed him to be/stay homeless (for years), talked bad about him. Then had the 🤬 audacity to go to his funeral and cry!!! I, too, used to be homeless.....ugh!!! Only three people called me, ironically, and they still didn't respect him nor me, and I was too upset to remember to call them TF out!!!! I couldn't go to his funeral because of financial reasons, and no one even cared!! They had the audacity to go to his funeral and cry. Esther, one of "my" Caribbean, "christian/political", "aunt's" was one of the main one's who persuaded certain/most people not to support him. She, too, also assumed/talked about me. They're, all, lucky I wasn't able to go and somewhat didn't want to go. I would have cussed them TF out at his funeral!
Some of these people became too much of a burden on these families. When a grown person can refuse help or sign themselves out of a facility that could help them. Try restraining a grown man that is fighting you and you have to work the next morning.

Because you have a comment about police brutality being out of control for a death in the case of the hotel where police did not cause his death, but rendered aid upon arrival. The second case being a textbook example of an imminent threat to life or great bodily harm which is the standard for the use of deadly force. As to why ignorance is out of control we have these examples here, where the more general explanation is value protective denial which is the propensity to avoid, ignore, and reject information that challenges beliefs, coupled with the human propensity to consume information that reinforces beliefs. Not a phenomenon reserved for the left, but also the right and the politically indifferent.

Deadly force is lawful when a suspect is an imminent threat to life or great bodily harm, such as when a suspect is charging towards an individual with 2 knives in hand. The man at the hotel was not staying at the hotel, went into the womens bathroom, then fought with security guards who detained him until police arrived. Police found the man unresponsive and rendered aid, but somehow, there's a problem with police for the actions of private security guards. They don't care. They just want someone to tell them lies to reinforce their false beliefs.
