Naw, this is not a reg thing. You dont even know how many police departments there are and how few of these corrupt cops there are. All you hear about is the big cities and the worst cases. Your assumptions dont lead to any good so inform yourself before spreading bullcrap to other gullible morons
And yet both republican & dem politicians kiss law enforcements' asses. Biden wants to increase police funding... Yeah, because giving more money to corrupt thieves is such a good idea 🙄 You're right. There needs to better oversight and accountability rather than flushing more taxpayer money down the toilet on departments rotten to the core with bad apples. If they refuse to clean up their act defund them.
@@AlcideIzMine Law enforcement and policing do serve an important and necessary role in our communities when done properly and within the confines of the law. The reality is police officers are just people, and they are only as good as the system that they work under and the training they receive. If by "defunding" the police, you mean limiting their budgets so they don't have weapons and equipment that were designed for the combat zones in the middle east, then I agree. The solution to the problem with police isn't just taking away their money, it's making sure the money is being spent properly. It's making sure officers will be held accountable as individuals for actions they commit. It is changing the culture of policing so that officers will step up and tell the truth instead of hiding behind the so called "blue wall of silence."
@old man strength Yeah when they are doing their job properly. Not when they refuse to prosecute cases that absolutely deserve to go to trial. Many DAs protect the police because they regularly work with them.
@old man strength I like how you act like someone being older means they are somehow more intelligent. Age garners experience, not intelligence. Regardless of my age, I know that district attorneys are supposed to be completely impartial and try whomever regardless of their position solely based on the preponderance of the evidence. What I said in my previous comment was how many district attorneys have a conflict of interest because the very same police officers that they are trying to prosecute potentially are the guys who they have known for years and who have worked with them potentially on other cases. I'm sure many DA's do a fantastic job and are completely impartial, but many others don't follow the word of the law and don't try cases that should have been brought to trial.
@old man strength Congratulations on being retired. I don't particularly care what you think, but I have a job and make good money. I have a lot more than $8k saved up, but go ahead with your stupid assumptions. I'm somehow "liberal" for wanting a transparent system? Typical piece of trash assuming they know someone and acting superior because they are insecure about some bullshit I don't even care about. I hope you have a nice retirement, but maybe watch a little less Newsmax and FOX.
My brother's brand new vehicle was stolen in Louisville. My brother called them multiple times to ask them if they found it. They kept saying, no. He eventually found out (after it was auctioned off) that they found it the very next day after it was stolen. Please do a story on this issue next. He has phone records proving that he called them multiple times to ask if they found it yet. They lied about having it, just to buy time to auction it off as "unclaimed property." The Louisville police are criminals. Attorneys even told him they couldn't do anything, because the Louisville police are so good at legally committing crime.
A Hispanic man traveling in the south to a party with food and dog in his car was stopped the police decided the soup was drugs and he was carted off to jail no one knows what happened to his car impounded his dog sent to animal control he was kept for some time before the drug lab said inconclusive. This stuff happens all the time. The courts have supported illegal search and seizure because of war on drugs makes it easy for them to steal and then keep money for that police dept to use. The courts say prove it's your cash and how you acquired it. A man traveling to a dentist in another state was stopped on highway the police took over $10k he was using for dental work and he never saw it again had committed no crime. Happens all the time on the I-40 interstate across country esp Arkansas and North Carolina.
All police departments need a civilian review board. Internal affairs doesn't make sense , You can't have cops babysit their own, All they're going to do is cover for them
As a Louisville citizen, thank you for doing these investigations! So many people are taken advantage of and are kept waiting and waiting for justice that never comes.

As a resident of Kentucky I am so glad you're covering this. This state is so corrupt it is unreal. It's in small towns, big towns, huge cities like Louisville. It's really bad.
I’m a bus driver and we get held to a higher standard than the cops, cops aren’t even hit with random drug tests. They can do coke all day and then pull someone over and steal their coke. Who wouldn’t want that job
Imagine being framed, robbed, abused and lied to by the very people who are suppose to "serve and protect you?" I feel for those guys and the fact that they feel so alone because they "fit" the negative stereotype of black men makes me feel sick.
It makes u sick and mentally ill, it's just like the soldiers who find out everything they have been told was a lie and they come home and commit suicide, then the court appointed lawyer is the handler who tells you are distract you into worrying about the charges instead of the wrongs they do, we have to do better for our future
My fiance was "robbed" by DEA agents. He's white and we live in California. They took 20 grand out of his safe. Half of that was my money. When they send a letter with a list of what was confiscated, that money wasn't listed. They also took his prescription pain medication, that was also not on the list. They never gave anything back they took. About 4 years later, I finally got to tell this story to a federal judge. He had these agents investigated and found out that they staged "fake" raids to rob people. They had been doing this for years and were at last arrested and charged. It's not just a Louisville or Kentucky problem. Law enforcement corruption is going on all over 😠
Authorities should be punished twice as hard when committing these crimes. They are suppose to protect and serve. But this system is just criminal. It's unreal.
they get a pass because they are extorting, kidnapping and killing people who disovery the edicts of the ruling class which is what we call a criminal. If a pig does it it is totally fine, because in america cops are to be worshipped and are entitled to have their asses kissed. if you simply think of holding a cop accountable or question a cops action you're a cop hater.

watch "The Wire", its from 2002 and it exposes those practices. This is something known by a lot of people for years, still nobody is changing anything.
Police departments are run by local governments. Corrupt societies produce corrupt cops. Where I live, the police serve the general interest rather than their own.
This has happened to me. My Ex-Wife filed a bogus protection from abuse order during our divorce after I filed for custody of our children. The Police Detectives performed a search warrant/ home invasion robbery. They broke into my safe, stole money that wasn’t declared, then erased the video camera recordings to “tamper with the evidence” and dispose of it. In court, all four smiled @ me & waved. Who are you supposed to turn to when you’re armed robbed by the police ? The FEDS ? or is there just nobody & they got away with it… which they did
These cops are incredibly corrupt. I live in Louisville and my nephew was in a motor vehicle accident in 2020. He was injured and before being loaded into the ambulance, an LMPD officer at the scene emptied my nephews pockets and ended up keeping $1,300 that was in my nephews wallet. We had a withdrawal slip from my nephew's bank and his accident wasn't even part of a criminal investigation but despite our complaints to LMPD and other organizations we never got the money back. I know it's not a huge amount but it was a significant amount for my nephew who was 22 at the time.
Just means they cannot be trusted. Police commit crimes on par with the general public. Case in point: A cop got caught fondling a dead woman's breast. Yeah, I said that right. Type it in to google. This is my hometown. Clops have been doing this hardcore. Hang out in the West End. Looking for something to do or they create a situation for fun. Search you and take your possessions. If you are stopped and you have a really nice car, expensive, you're a drug dealer. No, that's pastor. They saw all of us through one lens even if say like a 20 mile radius, everybody works, kids in school, no crime has been committed, if you own a nice home you bought it with drug money. I've been gone from the Ville for 20+years. Came back to visit and saw 26 police cruisers show up to a fight that was over before they swarmed. Caught in the drive thru for 45 minutes. No arrest, citation, nothing. Just strolling around talking and trying to appear as something they are not. Plus I read about the thefts a while back. Typical. Had a cop friend tell me what really goes on. I asked why do you not tell and his response was "I didn't do anything. That's about so and so". What? Everyone knows who these people are and do nothing. They just want to hang on long enough until they do 28 and retire with a pension. The rapist boasted about destroying those women's lives. There are no good clops. We are nothing to them and the majority doesn't mind one bit. Oh, snap! They care about the opioid voluntarily ingested, but seem to forget what crack did. This is running too long, but the rub is that I am not surprised at this. It's expected.
I am from Louisville. Vice, thank you for exposing the rampant corruption and culture of brutality within LMPD. We are one of the most segregated cities in the United States, and even after the passing of Breonna’s Law, there has been little done to combat systemic police oppression against select communities - even the judge that signed the no-knock warrant that got Breonna murdered is still on the bench. Thank you for raising international awareness about our city’s plights.
I think the problem is more that the “good” cops end up quitting because they realize their efforts to make things better are stepped on by how corrupted the system is
They do speak up but you and people who watch trash channels like this call them 'conspiracy theorists' and 'right wing extremists'.. in 2022 telling the truth is a bad thing especially if it's not what you've been taught to believe is the truth. Honestly, do you even know what's right and wrong anymore? 50% of America is driving with a blindfold on and a set of headphones on that are a direct loop from the media. You want to talk about corruption? The media is the most corrupt institution in the world.
I agree totally. This is happening in California, too. The reason is clear: Cops have one rule, above everything else: *_NEVER_*_ SNITCH ON ANOTHER COP!_ The so-called "good cops" are _just as guilty._ All cops take an oath to uphold the law. Did the "good cops" have their fingers crossed behind their backs when they swore an oath to uphold the law? When a cop has a good reason to suspect that another cop has stolen someone's money or property, the "good" cop needs to *_ARREST_*_ THE PERP!_ ...even if it's another cop; _ESPECIALLY_ if it's another cop!! Nothing will change unless/until that starts to happen. It's hard to arrest someone a cop knows, there's no doubt about that. But as long as this keeps happening, police departments are nothing more than _organized crime_ groups that prey on the public.
The sad thing is that this happens all across America and the lawyers, judges, and prosecutors know and all of these people are under oath... if a law enforcement officer is caught doing anything like this they should be charged with conspiracy, racketeering, and have all assets seized and a mandatory sentence of 15 years
It's legalised robbery. All they have to say is it's drug money and you're screwed. Could be your lifes savings or you just trying to buy a car/electronics they don't care they'll steal it anyways
It suck's same thing happened with money laundering during booze prohibition. The being able to seize assets and cash for money Biden and almost every Republican supported means there's little you can do if anything.
If police ever want to be respected and taken seriously, they've gotta stop this crap! There needs to be a law that requires full transparency at all times by all LEO's, regardless of the department they're in. If you're a cop and you know this is going on and do nothing about it, you're complicit too.
It's a bigger issue than the police department but this goes all the way back to the queen I will put money on that that's why she's so quiet and she never really says anything have you noticed nothing about nothing it is like her people are afraid to say anything about her or else
@@toolguyslayer1 are you talking about escheating? that is a much bigger issue because everything escheats back top the queen meaning this really doesn't matter since it all ends up there even the cops possessions!
The same goes for high crime communities dude. If a community wants to be respected and taken seriously tey have to stop being complicit with the criminals in their own community.
I can’t believe people find this surprising…”mankind” is corrupt there will always be dodgy cops… the main reason why some people choose to be a police is to hide behind the uniform

this type of journalism is still around. It's in your local newspaper, not on CNN or Faux News, or those commentators you see online. If people would only understand that journalism isn't commentating, maybe we wouldn't have this ridiculous notion that reporters are 'the enemy of the people.' Real journalists are getting demonized, laid off and left with nowhere to work because private equity has bought up the failing local newspapers in order to suck them dry and make them close down. This is a major disaster for democracy itself.
Yes, it’s great journalism. Now, would you please consider the lies and violations and corruption in the Canadian Music Industry? I agree, VICE does some great stories and I was happy to see they were nominated for quite a few awards for their work! Frontline PBS does some great investigative journalism too.
The cops are criminals in the same manner of the drug dealers on here they raided. It's just a cat and mouse game. This isn't shocking and provocative, when it's been known for decades. It's not just American police. The states monopoly on violence does not have borders, it's worldwide. Anytime you grant a human being power with impunity over another human being, he or she will exercise that power to the fullest extent that it benefits their group or individual person. This is human nature and applies to everyone (especially when a part of a group), not just cops in particular. In my opinion, drug prohibition is unconstitutional. It is fundamentally a property rights issue. Your body is your property to do with as you wish, a drug deal is a voluntary interaction between two individuals. The state does not own your body.

I will never forget the time when I was 19 and working at a gas station. A woman came in crying, and began to tell her friend who also worked at the gas station, all about how police raided her home. The woman was totally traumatized, her children were traumatized. Her elderly mother was traumatized. Her home, and all her possessions were ruined and destroyed. The police had also verbally humiliated her as well. Listening to her tell it, there was no doubt at all she was telling the truth. And to top it all off, they found nothing illegal in her home.
Whenever I'm on a jury trial if there is no video evidence always find the person not guilty why should you take the word of an officer over a civilian when they tell you they are allowed to lie to you
"Nobody cares about these people.". You can tell that's how they feel. Anybody who's been to court for a minor traffic violation and ends up leaving court feeling like they must have committed a felony, already knows. As rude as those judges can be.
Or possibly used the some of the drugs themselves. Threw a celebration for the “good job, boys!”. No doubt it also included unpaid sex workers they arrested earlier in the day and threatened to file charges against if they did all serve them sexually.

Those officers have ruined peoples lives; to the man who relapsed because no one believed him when he said the police were harassing him and stole his money, I believe you. You got through it, & I hope no one else will have to live through this!
The media is selling you a lie. This first man is lying through his teeth. He had $8k to $10k in his pocket, in cash but he doesn't know exactly how much? No one has $8k in their pocket in 2022 if they're not selling drugs first of all but also you don't know how much you have? If law enforcement officers are required to wear body cameras and don't, they have violated police policies breaking the law. They need to be investigated and fired and held accountable

@Yodi Gak Perpetuating a corrupt, structured system that refuses to hold police misconduct accountable is a choice. Race is not. If a good cop says nothing when he sees a bad cop abuse his power, you actually have two bad cops.
Yes, and not one time have I heard democrats talk about police reform. In fact when black republican Tim Scott tried to bring the police reform issue to the table during the Trump adm., democrats refused to work across the isle. Convenient, the woke excuse that Tim Scott is not a black man of value, and repeat violent offenders are the actual victims. The only ones democrats aren't concerned about are the victims of crimes, the small business owners, and their employees victimized, and the average citizen vulnerable to the increase in violent crimes by criminals with illegal guns in democrat run cities. Brazils crime rates have actually gone down when their current president made it easier for the law abiding citizens to gain access to legal gun ownership. Btw, I've never possessed a gun in my life.
Exactly. Funny how a group that’ll tell ya “if you’re innocent you shouldn’t have anything to hide” to justify illegal search and seizure is so quick to defend their own secrecy.
You know it's bad when the cops are worse than many of those that they arrest. There is a saying that is often quoted and that is " if you are innocent you have nothing to fear". Tell that to the thousands of innocent people sitting in American jails right now who are in there for something that they didn't do.
The fact that asset forfeiture partly funds the local governments and police departments engaging in the practice, is unbelievably problematic. If the cops carrying the raids out weren’t crooked to begin with, imagine coming across all this money that is being taken from “undesirables” that no one will believe…some of these departments don’t pay well, so, that money is probably mouthwatering to some. In a perfect world, none of this would be the case, but, cops, above almost anyone, know this world is not even close to perfect.

I lived on 6th and St Catherine for 4 years, and you constantly see Louisville metro tearing up someone's car, literally ripping the seats out, destroying people's personal property in an attempt to find ANYTHING to charge them with a crime. The shocking part, is more often than not, they didn't find a damn thing and now that person is left with a completely totaled car they have to put back together while Louisville metro drives off to find someone else to do the same thing to. Me and a few friends saw a metro cop Run a red light and t bone a woman, then tried to say it was her fault, luckily she had about 40 people that saw it and told the truth.

My friend was in a bad one vehicle car accident. She flipped more times than I can count that night. The cops got there as well as an ambulance and helicopter and she had just gotten paid and was headed to another friend's house for a night of fun and she never made it to our other friends house. She was in and out of consciousness the whole time and when she became alert two days later she asked about her money. She had it in her pocket at the time of the accident so it didn't just fly out of the car along with her. Her jeans were cut off of her and not one person would confess to stealing her money. It was money for her bills and my niece and nephew. My friend is their mother. The fact someone could do that to another person is acting for the devil. It's so disgusting.
If you commit to stealing, it is a bad strategy to confess afterwards. The decision not to confess is forfeit at the time you intend to steal the money.
I'm glad to hear she survived the accident. It's unfortunate that she lost the money; however, in the grand scheme of things...it was too many hands involved to point a finger. For anyone who says so what they are drug dealers, I want you to think about these two examples. One if of a Marine Vet, traveling through Nevada with over 87k in cash, he was going to visit his daughter. The next is of a man who was traveling through Tennessee with large sum of money, the man was on his way to buy a classic car, the police seized his money, no crime committed, but they suspect this man drug dealing and took his money.

We had a withdrawal slip from my nephew's bank and his accident wasn't even part of a criminal investigation but despite our complaints to LMPD and other organizations we never got the money back. Vice needs to go mainstream. This is real news and investigatory resilience we do not see anymore. Very well done !
this type of journalism is still around.

For anyone who says so what they are drug dealers, I want you to think about these two examples. The next is of a man who was traveling through Tennessee with large sum of money, the man was on his way to buy a classic car, the police seized his money, no crime committed, but they suspect this man drug dealing and took his money. So giving the police carte blanch to seize money when no crime has been committed and not making them count and audit money seized on the spot can only lead to corruption. Wow , well officers & the Sheriff was cause here where I live years back nothing was done except lost their positions and he could not run for office again …..might have gotten little bit of house arrest but nothing compared if it was not an official
Used to do fire damage restoration. You'd be surprised how many people have $100,000 in gold coins in a coffee can while living in an apartment that just so happen to turn up missing when we start working.
This has been the story of the narcotics department everywhere for as long as I can remember. The thing is that in the old days they were more discret. They're worse than the drug dealers.
It’s weird when you find yourself siding with criminals, but then who are the criminals….
all low level criminals are committing crimes because of unfortunate circumstances theyve found themselves in. If police cared about drug addicts they would help them instead of raiding their homes and brutalizing them
I mean.. yeah, like what is a criminal anyways? 😂
That's the best and most perfect question! The lines are very blurred these days.
Cops are the worst criminals out there.
Preach. Seems like the POLICE
I went to Louisville last year for the Louder Than Life festival. Could not help but notice they had the most amount of cops I've ever seen at a music festival, just standing around talking and watching the show like they didn't have a city to work for. The festival already had security the cops were just there. At one point it seemed like the entire swat team and bomb squad (with guns) was just watching the show the whole day. Went back to the hotel and local news was doing a story on a kid shot at a bus stop and 2021 being the most violent year in Louisvilles history. Hard to serve and protect when you're watching a Metallica concert.
Lol, I went to basic training practically next to Louisville at ft. Knox and know the types
The concert paid them to be there. But I’m sorry the bomb squad had guns. You poor thing.
Welcome to Louisville brother

Criminals fighting crime is the ultimate hypocrisy in our society
I say it all the time “At least they didn’t kill me.” I’m so sorry for all those who were and those who got no justice.
we should be saying that if a 'criminal' robs us, we shouldnt have to say that when running into a public servant that our tax dollars pay for, we need more rights to protect our selves from these goons with a badge
Been there. Hurt everyday from and injury and been robbed by them. Seperate incidents. Biggest gang on earth.
You sir sound like a clown

thank you for doing this for my city
I believe him and the others as well. As a child I witnessed the Colorado Springs police officers allowing my sperm donor to steal everything from the home. While making sure mom didn't interfere. That included the food. That's what I personally experienced as a child. I've always believed there are good and extremely bad police.
There are no good cops, you're sadly mistaken.
Sorry but most are narcissistic, misogynistic jerks.
@Donnell Okafor No sympathy for picking a bad girl to get entrapped by.
7:10 the money split between the prosecutors office too is WILD.
As a Louisville native, thanks for bringing this to light.
Grew up all my life in Louisville. Crime has been rampant, but it’s getting better. I have friends that have grown up in the west end. I know their stories. One thing I know for sure is the police are corrupt.
Oh No they’re taking the drug money and drugs off the streets. That can’t be a good thing at all 😂 what a shame
@@SFbayArea94121 Taking drugs and money off the streets ... and *putting both in their own pockets.* Using flimsy warrants. _That's_ the shame. You omitted an important detail.
@@rhet1016 Boot lickers love the taste they cant help themselves smh
Probably a state bot more than likely
Yes indeed you are correct.
@@SFbayArea94121 If the police are taking drugs from dealers and not turning it in what do you think happens to it idiot? They are selling it or using it themselves. A police officer doing this stuff is the scariest thing ever because they have total power out there
If you're a cop, and you follow the law, and department sop's, 9/10 times you're still a bad cop. Maybe not for your actions, but for your inactions. If you have ever witnessed another cop violate someone's rights, the law, or procedure (including administrative like falsifying OT) you ARE JUST AS BAD or WORSE as those. Your silence is the reason US law enforcement has the no trust and general distain of the general public
They see themselves as strong enough to kill another man but not enough to stand up to their peers
Imagine that out of let's say 30 corrupt cops, you're the only one who's not corrupt and trying to do the right thing. Now what happens if you try to step up to your peers, knowing that they're corrupt as hell?
@@kestoification then you quit.
I feel for this man. Police harrassment is isolating and dangerous.
but he was a cocaine dealer tho like damn dont sell drugs dont get raided
if we start letting rights slip before someone is even brought for charges, we will see a nation like the one under Duerte. Drug addicts and drug dealers have rights too. Someone will replace him. Spend money funding housing and fighting poverty instead of militarizing a process that could have been as simple as catching him walking to his car. Our leaders choose violence because they dehumanize the very populations they have failed. @@martinporander9574
You bought drugs from him Martin so you know he was a cocaine dealer?
It's so disgusting, I can't stand to watch. It's a well known fact that law enforcement officers do this with impunity. I've seen it myself. It's no wonder that so many people have lost all respect for law enforcement. On top of taking money, to sucker punch somebody in the face with the butt of a gun is cowardly.
If you don't like the rules of the drug game then get a real job and contribute to society
the right way. Duh? It's not rocket science.

noun
a medicine or other substance which has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body.
@@theharshtruth8563 Basically anything you ingest can be considered a ''drug''. A huge portion of our globalised industry and commerce is based on consumption. Yes there are horrible drugs such as amphetamines, cocaine, etc. But Cannabis for example can be processed into medicinal tinctures, salves, edibles, and much more.
Heck even coffee is a drug the only difference between what you think a drug is and what a drug actually is is whatever the government mandated you can and cannot consume. Which in the case of cannabis, actually varies on a state-by-state basis.
Long story short, learn basic economics.
Im shocked that the FBI doesn't send in undercover officers to impersonate drug dealers and see how the locals handel the cash.
FBI is probably in on it
great idea but they're all meshed together
FBI is in on it ..they are all friends!
The feds are not going to do that because they know that their agents might get killed by these racist cops. Plus the feds know that they are doing this. Remember alot of FBI agents use to be police officers.
Lol at the thought of the FBI not being as corrupt, if not more than than regular police.
