- In this episode I am further exploring the Lofoten Islands in Norway. The scenery is simply dramatic and despite some rain, it's a fabulous ride on my Honda CB500X called Ronin. I am taking the ferry back to mainland Norway, to Bødo, where I have to hunt for a new chain and sprockets because mine are worn!

I am from South Africa 🇿🇦 in 2017 my wife and I hired a camper from Germany it was the cheaper option. We took the camper into Norway for 5 weeks. We rented a farmhouse in Brenna in Lofoten Islands for 5 days to take a break from camping. It was mid September. We saw the Northern Lights. That beach with the white sand was busy with swimmers. They were brave for that time of year. One of our highlights of Norway. We did south to north and back down again and could not get enough of Norway. Brings back memories. Thank you for these wonderful videos of Norway 🇳🇴

Omg you can't imagine how much emotions I felt while I was watching this video.
I went to the Lofoten islands 21 years ago, at the end of an epic 1 month holiday with my 2 best friends.
We were 20 years old, no credit cards, no Google maps, no cell-phone, only one Inter-rail ticket, some cans of beans and pasta in our backpack and hostels full of lovely people and wonderful places to see.
The best holiday in my entire life, and with this video you made me remember those wonderful moments (and caused some tears for the emotion 😉).

Oh yes, Interrail rocked during the good old times. I did it 6 times in a row in the late 80ies and early 90ies and travelled all around Europe plus Morocco. That have been really lighthearted times. The beans, oh my god, the beans with tomato sauce. Only with traveller cheques and the only map we had was the map that came with the ticket.
I still own the legendary Interrail travel guide book.
But we didn't make it to the Lofoten. It's quite a distance and it was a lot of rain at that time. I remember a cold and wet night in Östersund. Then we decided to go South and went to the Costa Brava in 3 days ;-)

What troubles me about these shots is that she manually pilots the drone while riding her bike. The shots are often beautiful and sometimes epic, but I can't help but wonder if they're worth the risk.
@@CaptHollister drone is placed on tank top & will work on autopilot mode ( expensive ones )
I loved your coverage of my ancestral home on Sweden but the Norwegian landscape is unbelievable.
I know I have said it over a hundred times, but this video is awesome. It’s so amazing...you travel alone, do your own planning, video your sites, do your history about what you’re going to see so you can educate us, edit all your own video, completely independent traveler, do some of your own repairs and you do it with a smile ALL THE TIME! You’re magnificent and such an inspiration to so many world wide! 💪💪🏍🏍🙌🙌❤️❤️...oh and if you want to keep your helmet on, do it...don’t mind any negative comments. 😉
I have seen a lot of beautiful places here on earth. I don't think that I have ever seen such beauty in my life. Especially packed together where you go from scene to scene. Absolutely spectacular. I've watched most of the episodes in all 3 seasons and to me the episodes on Norway and the Lofoten Islands have offered some of the best scenery and riding of all - IMO.

One of the bonuses of motorcycle riding is the camaraderie between riders.
Watching it on big screen with home theatre sound was an exhilarating experience. The music, the cinematography and the scenes are simply mind boggling and it was truly an immersive experience. Thank you for the great treat, Noraly 👍

Totally love lofoten's classic red rorbu cabins with dramatic mountains as their backdrop. That drone shot was epic.
The Scandinavian architecture is really cute
Poor people. But happy and some successful. Norway have the longest coastline in the world. (bc the fjords) And a big fish industry. The shores (fjord) of Lofoten area are a core value for this fisheries. The Cod have been vital for over thousand years in trading. It was dried as stockfish and sold to Spain, Italy and Portugal. Try it as snack! Better than potato crisp.

"you haven't visited Norway unless you've been to the Lofoten Islands" that's what a kind Norwegian lady told me when I was half way up Norway on my trip to the North Cape... So I took the time to visit and I too was blown away by how beautiful it is! 👍
People living in such beautiful places are so lucky. Clean air, such a beautiful scenery, so much calmness. Living in a city seems so miserable to me now🙄

A little trivia: those wood structures (called “hjell”) near the water are for drying fish (cod mostly). You can see some dried fish (called “tørrfisk” on the wall when she enters the cafeteria.
You can eat tørrfisk as a snack, or use it to make “lutefisk” where they rehydrate the fish using water and lye which transforms the fish into a semitransparent jelly almost. Lutefisk is traditional Christmas food in Norway, especially in the western and northern parts.
"lutefisk" -- when even your cats won't be hungry enough to eat it. (and I'm 100% Norwegian descent)
@@osimnod I’m definitely not picky and will eat almost anything, but I would never chose lutefisk. It’s still better than surströmming, though.
It comes originally from Netherlands and Northern Germany. We have it for Christmas to in Sweden but i don't eat it.

I am working my way through the entire collection of videos and I am constantly blown away by the sights we are being shown in some brilliantly executed filming, both drone and other. The music is used to great effect as always.
I am also often feeling quite sad when I see these wonderful scenes. I can't get the thought out of my head about the utter &*@up we are making of this world and where we are going with it all.

Welcome back to my hometown Bodø. If you ever consider a re-visit, I recommend late July/early August for warmer and dryer weather. Since both my wife and I are motorcyclists for more than 35 years, we can point you to some amazing roads and views in our area.

It's always fun Noraly trying to spot you on the ground when flying the drone. Always amazed at your control and flying the drone left handed while riding Ronin with your right hand. The bridge aerials was fantastic. Those Pirelli MT60's seem very well suited for all the rain you ride in. Take care, stay warm and God bless you.

I suspect she uses Litchi or something similar to program Dronin to fly a certain distance and film a stretch of road at a pre-set pace. Then she just sends it away and drives off as it passes. Or that's how I would have done it. But still amazing shorts!
@@Lakevalley69 in an earlier video she indicates she does not use auto tracking, but flies it manually while driving the bike.

You are getting verity good with the drone. The drone scene of you crossing the bridge is remarkable. Controlling it while riding is a challenge.

The best time for landscape photographers is when clouds are present .When the sky is clear and sunny is very bad since the sun tends to wash out the colours while clouds tend to act like a soft box revealing the shadows.
That fish sandwich and coffee looked amazing. ~And a ferry with a basement, very cool.

Perspective is everything. I didn't see any bad weather in that video. I saw nourishing rain and dramatic scenery. I rather enjoy riding in a rain. Now to me bad weather is lightning, tornados, gale force winds, etc.

A little reminder. Be careful to not use the drone nearby to an airport in Norway. You will get a big fine and they will probably confiscate your drone if they see it.
Actually I think they now use little drone fighter planes that search out intruding drones and shoot them down. Sounds harsh, but its all for air traveller's safety (lol).

Fantastic! But can be brutally cold. Even as a Norwegian native, passing mountains here is done with some respect (I actually have a tent with me now, to be able to spend the night in the mountains if weather turns bad). Thank you for great pictures, I look forward to the 21-season

You have it backwards, if you had put on your rain gear, it would not have rained.

It's the same principle if you put a condom on...
And then in places like Norway, UK, Netherlands, New Zealand,, coastal USA/Canada etc there is "The Biker's Rain Dance+Spell Invocation". Otherwise known as "Cleaning, waxing and polishing the 'bike". Works 98% of the time for me whereupon the very next time the bike's ridden, the rain hoses down and road muck splashes up, and you're back to square-1. I am convinced Mother Nature abhors a clean motorcycle owned and ridden by any True Biker.
Drone shots were amazing and you skillfully managed it. Don't take out your helmet, if you feel cold. Your health is important for a continuous journey. Once again nice scenery from Norway.

Norway is beautiful the Lofoten are spectacular. This brings me back 25 years when I visited in a vacation from Netherlands. Your images are giving me goose bumps because they make me relive those days so vividly. (also, now they do make me think a little at Scotland and also at Newfoundland, in my new home country).

A few moments with the exuberating palpitations of the heart; those moments of euphoric head rush, saying to myself, just enough: just enough. The long string bridge of drone footage put me in a spell; can't ever say anymore than uh-hunh: uh-hunh!
This video was awesome! The hair's on my forearms went up , thinking what the Viking village's would have looked like, with there long boats, with that backdrop of those mountains , back in time. Maybe now when you ever smell that fishy smell again it will bring back these awesome memories. Awesome video again, and the drone flying was just fantastic.
