- Noraly (aka. Itchy Boots) began working in the gold mining industry after studying Geochemistry, but once she got the taste for adventure she sold her house and possessions and bought a motorcycle. For the past five years, she has been riding around from the world. The first leg of her trip started in the Himalayas and continued through the Middle East, Central Asia, Russia, the Caucasus, and the Balkans. She then started a trip from Patagonia to Alaska which is currently paused due to COVID-19. If you do not follow Noraly on her TH-cam channel and blog you are missing out. She is inspiring, courageous and kind and her love of adventure is infectious.

I’m so glad I found Noralys videos!!! I’m a 65 yr old grandma who worked as a registered nurse, was a single mother and didn’t have time or money to travel until a few years ago. I traveled for a year in my RV. I have really wanted to travel again but have some health problems and can’t now. Her videos have brought me so much joy!

I started watching Itchy Boots a few months ago. The reason she appeals to me is that she shows the road and scenery, she is clean in the sense that she doesn’t cuss, she’s polite and friendly to the people, she isn’t begging for money, she talks to “us”, includes us, she doesn’t “need” attention. She has a great attitude when things might test the best of us. She appreciates the hospitality and the places she stays. She doesn’t act like she’s too good for the accommodations. I bought a 2022 CRF300 Rally last week. I’m taking my MSC next week and hopefully getting my M license the next day. I back packed 50 miles for my 50th birthday during the quarantine. I got to see places pretty much by myself in July 2020, including the Grand Canyon it was empty. Things that will never happen again. People I knew thought the same of me, a mom all by myself hiking in July in the deserts of Arizona. I can’t

A big reason for Noraly's success is that she is extremely likeable. I am finishing up watching every one of her videos.
You are right, she is very likable, and never loses her ladylike demeanor. Put all of that together and you have a star whom I admire.

The reason why I watch Noraly's videos is quite simple. I'm a biker and admire her guts to tackle a massive trip like this all alone. The way she portrays her journey is unique in its simplicity and she has the right touch to keep my attention. Salute and safe travels :)

@@maxm7610 Noraly comes off as holding back and superficial to me. That is probably a conscious choice considering she is a woman riding around alone, but as far as ride reports go it's too sanitized and lacks the every day reality, for my taste.
The reason why I follow Noraly is because she is a whirlwind of positivity even when she's having a bad day. 😄😉
Noraly has the respect of her audience, it’s her personality and ability that people love and she never uses sex to sell her stories. She is honest.
.NEVER before has this been possible...to travel the world on a motorcycle in the comfort of our homes, thanks to a talented lady (and several others) , HD mini cameras, and TH-cam. As a 73 year old lifelong motorcyclist whose "day" is past, these different travel vlogs are a DREAM, Itchy Boots was the first one I discovered and I watched her first 100+ videos in the first week. AWESOME interview, very interesting...
My mum 76 yrs old cycled (pedel power) across Spain, 1000km in 18 days. so at 73 you are not past it.

With her for me too. She is thinking of a trip to the south of France from Calais on one. ( two batteries for extra “just in case” and a charger of course) We are both impressed with the performance. It’s slowly becoming accepted especially for older folks to use E bikes and I would say to you have a go of one of those if you can. There are a lot to chose from with many easy to use and light enough to handle.
Spain for her was great and she did spend time smelling the roses. October was also cool enough and low tourist density.

This is a smart, talented and tough woman, she speaks Spanish, English and Dutch. She films, edits and flys a drone like a champ, and she is fearless, she would put most weekend bikers to shame, yes I think I may actually be in love with her 😳

@The Old Husky Defintiely it would change everything. One quick observation. Notice Noraly does not ever dress in skimpy bathing suits or other over revealing clothes . If Netflix or other streaming studio got her on contract I guarantee you they would want more skin. I've seen several YT channels that have scantily clad women in them to grab viewers. Noraly has her own self-funded channel that doesn't put any conditions on her travels or her way of traveling through her routes.

Iv'e seen On Her Bike also.
I believe the fact that she chose a Royal Enfield Himalayan that was just becoming global helped a lot of people find her because they were researching the bike. What kept me and many watching her is that she is a natural, she is nice, polite, respectful, curious, and expresses a wonderment of the world around her.
Very true, the Himalayan was an adventure motorcycle that is niche atleast in India. Noraly showed how an adventure motorcycle can be used. But then people kept on watching because of her personality and a feel good vibe to her vlogs.
And she loves children.

I discovered Itchy Boots by tooling around for reviews of the Himalayan and became a fan because she is who she is.
She's likable, natural.. never vulgar ! the blue eyes and yellow hair is a 'social' passport, worldwide.. everyone likes them, from my Angolan days 💕

A woman alone travelling around the world in remote areas is a very unique event. In addition, Noraly is incredibly friendly, positive and very beautiful. Can you imagine how the people living in renote areas must feel? They probably think she's an angel from Heaven!

She doesn’t get enough credit for her editing efforts, the video content is all about the journey and she leaves out all the mundane daily chores of traveling. She also does have a very natural style of taking us with her and good equipment with helmut cam, stick cam and drone. Best one person vlogging I have seen!
Great interview. We are in our 70’s neither my husband and I have been on a motorbike. During the start of lockdown I was flicking through TH-cam and my husband saw ‘Kazakistan’ so we started watching it. We learned so much about the countryside, people and geography of that area that we had to carry on. We were hooked and then went to the first episode and watched it through. Now we have watched both episodes a couple of times. Loved your photography. Noraly’s intelligence, her knowledge of the sciences make the commentary interesting but what stands out the most is her positive attitude and she never complains or whinges which is so very refreshing. We wish you all the very best in your future biking days.

What makes her special to me is she makes me feel like the world is smaller, friendlier and a better place than what society has conditioned us to feel. Seeing the hospitality of those whose paths she has crossed always warms my heart. Her smile is infectious, her travel absolutely revives my spirit to travel and i find myself wondering whats around the next bend... Exactly the same feeling when im on a long bike trip... Also, i ride a Ultra Limited, and wave to all!

I'm from India and who wouldn't love itchy boots. She had been showing us all the beautiful landscapes of the world that she had been there. If it was not of her, I would not have seen any of it that she showed in her video.
What she does is what every motorcycle riders and adventurers like me has ever dream of doing in life.

Noraly is a great story teller, as an old biker I love how she seems to show the motorbike riders perspective. The added bonus is her drone footage. I just wish I was more adventurous in my youth.
She's not just Sumerwoman, she's Superhuman. I've ridden 50+ years of every motorcycling there is but can't even begin to imagine accomplishing 1/10 of 1% of what she's doing. Talk about fearless!!!
Being a lady, riding across some really challenging & remote terrains solo, takes a lot of spunk & then some!!
Her simple, honest & "go getter" spirit, is all that makes her vlogs so "relatable". In a country like India, a lady on a motorbike, is viewed with disdain, although, things are improving thanks to several lady biker groups that have sprung up, of which even I'm a member. I would never have been able to accomplish (riding wise) all that she has. Like myself, there are several other ladies, who watch every vlog & get inspired to chase their own dreams. Moreover, her geology knowledge with some history really make for engaging viewership when it comes to her vlogs.

What I like about Noraly compared to some of the other adventure rider videos I've seen is she does her homework on the history and interesting facts about the places she takes us to She clearly narrates where she is going and how she is getting there, I like that she is not political or act like a clown for the camera. She is very well spoken and educates the viewers, to me its like going on a field trip with my favorite teacher.
She is a lot of fun. Although, sometimes I worry about her safety. Her experiences in the high mountain passes of Asia, thru the ‘stans’, I found to be pretty scary. She does inspire, tho. I rode a small scooter as a kid- my only transportation, especially to and from school. Last year I bought a Honda PCX 150, fitted it out with small panniers and a top box, and am just starting to travel back roads of New England. I am 70 yrs. old. Hopefully never to late. Favorite episode for me is your courage going down into the mine in South America and documenting the danger to the miners and their dire circumstances.

I have watched all her videos and I to am worried about her safety she is very aware of her surroundings however I think her biggest danger is a serious traffic accident or illness i pray for her safety ❤

In our case we have grown too old to be adventurous any longer so we enjoy this age of big screen high resolution youtube videos in the comfort of home. We watch the folks that we would like as friends as they travel. What's not to like about Noraly? Her ability to communicate wherever she goes with both us and those she meets is a great advantage.

We see in Noraly a genuine solo-adventurer motorcyclist that shows us the other countries nature, the interaction with the locals, something that we wish could realize some day. There are many other great blogger out there, but for me her every day smiling and positive attitude hook me up to her channel.

"Warm shower"... I think that's the most consistent answer to what adventurers enjoy best DURING their travels....in all facets of adventure travel... Sailing, motorcycle travels, van living, bike packing, hiking, etc.... The simplicity of the warm shower is the biggest luxury... very interesting.

Excellent interview of my favorite TH-camr! I didn't even ride when I started watching her videos but just obtained my motorcycle permit and put a down payment on a Himalayan.
Now she's at almost 1 million. So glad I found this interview. I can't wait to show mu husband in the morning. How have we not known about Noraly until about 3 months ago. Obsessed with her life and can't wait until the next adventure! Thanks for the interview.

I have traveled half way around the world. I am a blue eyed blond in a brown eyed world. Than is some of the kid attraction. Noraly is likely the first blue eyes they have seen in real life..

We would all love to be doing what Noraly is doing, she starts all videos with a Good Morning and a beautiful smile. She has mastered the skills needed for producing the video content and her persistence with the videos has grown her channel quickly over the last couple of years. Great interview, usually I do not watch interviews but it just grabbed me. I have watched all her videos she is just so engaging and interesting. The TH-cam world has many interesting people but Noraly is at the top. I have been riding for 50 years now and still active on my bikes, bikers thougout the world are the most honest and interesting people

I'm sensing a theme here, I subscribed to Itchy Boots some months ago and was immediately intrigued and captivated that she has an MS.. in geochemistry. Subbed to ADV rider some time ago and had no idea until this vid that "Baldy" has an M.S. in Geophysics. Also with an interest in adv riding, motorcycling, traveling.. this holder of an MS in Geology thinks there must be something in common in our genetics....

@@Baldy Excellent analysis as "being outside" was high on my list back in the 60's when I began to ponder what I would be doing for a living. And the adv riding does feed the need, even now.
I Love Itchy Boots Norlay. I love all her Adventures. I love how adventurous and courageous and her Strength of all of her Riding. I used to Ride Motorcyles all the time and I Love them. Wow I just saw how Norlay loves Rocks and Minerals. That is so cool. I have a huge Rock and Minerals that I collect from all over. It us so exciting watching her riding all over the world. And another thing that is really neat is I myself and all her fans feel like we are there with each of her adventures how she talks to us while riding. Have so much to say Hoping she will be back soon. I really Miss not seeing our Itchy boots. Shes so cool.
Noraly thinks things through from all prespetives, clever and charming lady. Her subscribers are bikers, non bikers, young and old. Now passing the million subscribers is well earnt, RESPECT.
The most exciting episode for me was the trip thru the silver mine. I didn't know I had the slightest hint of claustrophobia until you slithered thru that small opening into the deep parts of the mine! This was really educational and exciting!
That episode was so scary and eye opening.. Just imagine this work the miners do everyday??? No thanks. It defined the term claustrophobia

My favorite was when she saw that blue,BLUE water 💧that stays at 32°C all the time, there were bats in the cave,Noraly went into the cave,we saw more blue water. Ohhhhh also Victoria Falls! BEAUTIFUL, just breathtaking! Loved this one!!!

I became addicted to watching Itchy Boots because of her personality, the scenery wherever Noraly goes, and the unknown adventures. I am 73 years old and know I will never go those places and this is like putting a child in a toy store. It is always a pleasure to watch her videos. They have brought me extreme pleasure, especially during this pandemic. I hope she never stops traveling and making videos!

Re. where Noraly's followers come from, she seemed stumped. My wife and I got interested when we saw she rode through Croatia right after we had e-bicycled there. Then I saw on ADVrider that she was riding the same roads in Chile and Argentina that I had ridden by moto on my way to Ushuaia. So we follow her to see scenery we are familiar with from her perspective and drone. It's really cool to watch and say, "Hey! I was on that road. I recognize that river! I saw that mountain." Or, "Oh no! Hell no! I wouldn't ride that road." Great stuff.
