Does the card automatically recognise what country I’m in when using my money ?
Another useful video, packed with useful info in simple facts~
Great & articulate speaker and helpful tips, thank you !
You're most certainly welcome, we're glad to hear it was helpful! 💚
This is pretty helpful!
We're glad to hear it! 💚
great job - well done ! One quick question, if I have 3 wise accounts say USD, CHF and Euros and I am say in Munich (Euro) and use the card will the card automatically access the Euro account and spent the money out of there. Obviously I already put money there that the balance is >0. thx. or is there a certain step needed to during the transaction to ensure Euro is used. My home base is Singapore and money comes in Singapore Dollars then I move it to my other 3 accounts in Wize as I travel to those regions for vacation thx.
Hey, Rene! We're glad to hear that you liked it. To answer your question, there's no manual steps needed. If you spend money in a currency you already have in your balances, we'll deduct the amount from there. But if you don't, we'll automatically convert the amount from whichever available balance has the cheapest conversion fee. So if you're spending in EUR and already have this currency available in your balance, we'll deduct it when you make a payment: wi.se/wise-card-gettingstarted
Have a safe trip ✈️
Hey Wise, how would you recommend using the wise account/card if you work in Switzerland but are getting paid in the US? I have always heard to withdraw larger amounts via ATM in the local currency, but you say $200/CH200 with a limit of two before being charged a nominal fee. I am going back to CH in a few weeks so I want to see if WISE is going to work for me. FYI, paychecks are biweekly and the assignment length is probably 12+ months.
Hey there, Sam. Thanks for reaching out! If you'd like to get and use your Wise card while working in Switzerland, you can withdraw money like you were mentioning, but you will get charged a fee on the third time, as well as when you withdraw more than 200 CHF in a month.
With that being said, you can also just use your Wise card to spend money in Switzerland without needing to withdraw cash. You can add CHF to your Wise balance, and then you'll be able to use your card at any local merchants, stores, restaurants, etc. in Switzerland.
If you only have USD in your Wise balance, though, you can still use your Wise card to spend money in Switzerland with our Smart Conversion technology. This means you can spend money in a currency you don't have in your Wise account, and we'll take money from the currency with the best mid-market rate at the time. For example, if you're being charged in CHF, but you only have USD in your account at the time. Read more about that here: wi.se/smartconversiontech
We hope this clears things up a bit, but if you need anything else, please let us know. We're here for you.
hi. im going to the phillipines in a few weeks time. Im just trying to get it clear in my mind
So is my best option that before i go i transfer some money from my uk bank account using the app into the wise card and convert it into phillipino pesos.
Then I can draw up to £200 a day without paying charges.
I can also use my wise card as a debit card in locations that accept mastercard payments to pay for goods or food and always choose to pay in the local phillipino pesos currency if asked?
Hi, there. Thanks for reaching out - we'll be glad to answer your questions. (1) You're right, if travelling abroad, we'd suggest converting to the currencies you need within Wise before spending. We have some tips outlined: wi.se/aux1za That way, you'll only pay the conversation fee, with a mid-market rate. Here's how: wi.se/moneyconversion
Otherwise, if you'll prefer not to convert it manually, Wise has this Smart Conversion technology that'll automatically convert the balance for you that has the lowest conversion fee: wi.se/smartconversiontech Meaning, if you don’t have the currency you need in your account, you can still spend money.
(2) As for the withdrawal, if your account is based in the UK, the free allowance is 200 GBP only per month (not per day). You can read more here: wi.se/withdrawalfees (3) That's correct as well, always choose to pay in the local currency if asked. And you can definitely use or pay with your Wise card in most places where debit cards are accepted: wi.se/whereyoucanuseyourcard
We hope this helps, but let us know if there's anything remained unclear.
I want to order a card to a UK address, however I will be loading funds in CAD (Canadian Dollars) and spending in EUR (Euros).
I just want to confirm I can do the following:
> Load funds from my CAD RBC account to my Wise card without fees
> Deliver card to a UK address for specific fee (2.50 GBP)
> Use card in Europe to spend in EUR for small conversion fee and NO additional fees
Thanks for your help!
Hey there. Thanks for your interest in getting a Wise Card 💚 Your card is linked to your balances, so all you need to do is make a top-up to your Wise account: wi.se/addmoneytoyourbalances_ And here we explain how your CAD account details work: wi.se/cadaccountdetails

Hi! I live Australian and I was wondering do I have to activate my card at the ATM/chip and pin to do “tap”/contactless payments? Thanks.
Hi Carpe 👋 If you’ve never used contactless, you need to use a card in an ATM or do a chip and PIN transaction one time before contactless can work.
If the Chip and PIN payment gets declined, please use the card at an ATM for either:
- Cash withdrawal
- Balance enquiry

Hello! Can I receive money from a bank from the US (say, bank of america for example) via wire transfer giving the sender my usd currency account details? Thanks!
Hi there 👋 Yes, you should be able to receive money from the US by using your USD account details via wire transfer. Provide your wire routing number if your sender specifically wants to pay you with a wire.
Keep in mind that wire transfers can cost your sender 20-30 USD, but will reach your Wise account within 1 working day. If someone sends you money using a wire transfer, we’ll charge a 4.14 USD fee. Find more here: wi.se/usdbalances

Hi Is it best to convert the local currency ready before use it to make a payment overseas ? , as I am from UK, and have some money in Pounds and SD in my wise account .
It's actually up to you, Nency! You can convert it before you make a payment if you like the current rate, and it'll be ready for you to use. Or, if you don't convert, we'll take care of it automatically! This is called a smart conversion, and you can read more on how it works here 👉 wi.se/smartconversions

I live in the Dominican Republic and I'm moving to Japan for studies in July. Wise has been recommended to me to use while abroad, but the D.R. isn't listed to receive the wise debit card. I'd like to know if I can make a wise account while in D.R. and take care of all my travel and accommodation expenses before leaving to Japan and order the card when I'm there, or should I hold off from making my account until I reside in Japan and order the card then? Also, if I do make my account and use my current address (Dominican Republic), though I can't order and use the physical debit card, is it available to me on my phone?
Hi Juanra. The Wise card is currently available for residents of certain countries and regions, as stated here: wi.se/countriesforwisecard so it won't be possible to get the card even if you've moved to Japan. Our team's working hard to make the Wise card available everywhere. Join our waitlist, and we'll let you know as soon as it's rolled out in the Dominican Republic: wi.se/cardwishlist

Hello, thanks for the video. I am planning to travel from Australia to the UK and EU. When I travel, I will switch out my phone SIM card and use an overseas SIM while in the UK and EU. Will this cause problems using the WISE app or card if I set it all up while in Australia using my Australian mobile number, but then switch out the SIM card while I travel? Thanks.
Hey Jimbo. In that case, we'd advise you to set your Wise app as your 2-step verification method instead. Here's how to manage that: wi.se/change-2fa This way, you should have no issues accessing your Wise app while travelling.
As for your card, changing your phone number shouldn't affect how you use your card. If you have more questions, feel free to reach out to us on email/call: wi.se/contactus_
Hey! I have funds in AUD and EURO. But I can't workout how to put the money onto my card? Or is it essentially already on the card? And when I go to pay in Euro it will just come out as Euro? If that makes sense!
Hey, Danielle 👋
If you have money in your Wise balances, it means the funds are available on your card as well. Learn more on that on this link: wi.se/wise-card
In case you're paying in EUR, the money will be taken from the correspondent balance. However, in case you don't have money in the same currency and have in another, our Smart Conversion technology will automatically convert the balance for you that has the lowest conversion fee. Check more info here: wi.se/smartconversiontech
In case you have further questions, feel free to reach out to us on our support on Facebook, Instagram or X/Twitter, and we'll be happy to assist.
How can I use my Wise Debit Card or other account features to pay credit card bills locally - and ideally in Wise time, ie `instantly`?
Hey there, George. Great question! You can definitely use your Wise account to pay for things such as credit card bills. To do this, you'd just use either your Wise card or your Wise account details as the payment method when you're paying the bill.
We hope this helps, but if you have other questions, feel free to reach us via DM at Facebook, Instagram, or X. We're here for you 😊
Q1- Why does it say you can't withdraw cash from Canadian ATMs?
Q2- if I have canadian money and I'm for instance in Argentina trying to take money from an ATM. Do I need to convert the amount on the app first, or should I just withdraw from ATM? (Without accepting the conversion option ATMs give me)
Q3- can I get a card done to give to my mom or father to use if they live in a country where they can't get the card transferred to them? Do I need to create an account for them in Canada? Is that even an option? I want them to retire and be able to support them in case of any issues.
Hey, there!
1. There can be a few restrictions on where our cards can be used, and in this case Canadian-issued cards can't be used for local ATM withdrawals (but it'll still work outside Canada, as normal): wi.se/withdraw-fees
2. You don't have to convert, although we do recommend it, since spending money in a currency you have on your balances tends to be a lot cheaper: wi.se/debitcardfees 😉
3. We can only issue cards to the account holder, so if they'd like to have cards of their own, they'll need to create their own Wise account as well. However, when creating the account note that their address has to match their current residence, so if the card's not available in their current country, it wouldn't be possible to order them at this time.
They're welcome to join our waitlist here, though: wi.se/cardwishlist to get notified as soon as there's any news!
Great info and questions. Thanks! How is my balance protected if my card is stolen?
Great question, Andrea! You can temporarily freeze your card to prevent someone from using it, or replace it to get a brand-new card.
In case you notice any unauthorised transaction, you can report the issue, so we can investigate it.
We explain in more details here: wi.se/lostorstolencard
I am a new user so only have a digital card yet. Can I use it for contactless payments from Wise app? the stores do not usually have applepay.
On another note, I really like the transparency on the fees (like in the video); charge me what you need to, but show it to me and I am good with it.
Thanks for the love. We're all about transparency here 🙂 Do you mean you've yet to receive your Wise card, and would like to use the digital card for contactless payments? Definitely, the card can be used for contactless payments. Here's more information about the card: wi.se/getthedebitcard But, feel free to send us a DM on other social platforms, or call/email us here: wi.se/contactus_ if you have any questions.
@@Wise is there anyway for a US customer to activate their card before it arrives in the mail physically? I read the links you provided, it seems like I won’t be able to activate it before it comes in the mail. But I wanted to ask anyway in case I missed something
To activate my card in Canada I believe I need to go to an ATM and "check balance" (as Canadian ATMs won't allow me to withdraw cash with the Wise card). However I have not yet been able to find an ATM in Canada that will allow me to "check balance". So, if I can't activate my card in my home country, will I be able to activate it in Japan when I travel there? Or is there another way to activate my card in Canada, without using an ATM? Thank you!
Hi 👋 You can also activate your card by doing a CHIP+PIN payment at a store: wi.se/activate. But you can also activate it in Japan as well, but this should do the trick.
Let us know how it goes!
Hi I have read that in Peru, Visa is much more accepted than Mastercard. Can I use the Wise debit card there?
Hi there 👋 Wise card is currently unavailable in Peru but if you already have a Wise card, and you're planning to travel to Peru, it should work fine. Generally, you can pay with your Wise card in most places where debit cards are accepted. We share more info on this here: wi.se/whereyoucanuseyourcard

Concerning Virtual App Card:
1. Do i need to "Add Money" first in the currency I wish to use? say I want to spend online in USD but only have GBP & Euro in my wise acc.
2. If I don't need to "Add Money" for 1 above what is the "Add Money' feature for
3. What is travel hub? I live in Asia. So if I want to spend like a local do I need to have a wise acc. in local currency?
Hey there 👋 Correct, you'll need to add money to your balances first. If you spend money in a currency you already have in your balances, we'll deduct the amount from there. But if you don't, we'll automatically convert the amount for you from whichever available balance has the cheapest conversion fee. So there’s no need to worry about converting money before travelling.
So, if you have the local currency in your account, no fees are applicable to the transactions. If you don’t have, we'll charge only a conversion fee using our Smart Conversion technology: wi.se/smart-conversion
An ATM bandit topic. If I want to withdraw a certain amount of money from an ATM and the ATM dispenses less money than I requested(lack of banknotes or an ATM black hole). Who can I complain to and how? Is it possible to complain/suspend a withdrawal in the app?
Hey, thanks for reaching out! If this were to happen, your first step would be to contact the ATM provider first. In most cases, the ATM provider will know that there was an error, and the money will automatically be returned to your balance within a few minutes. If you aren't able to reach the provider, or they don't return your money, you'll need to wait until the transaction is complete and you can then dispute the charge. We explain this more here: wi.se/atmdidntgivemycash

If I’m going to Utila Honduras and load my card with Limpira’s, go there and withdraw from an ATM the only fee I’ll be charged is from the bank for the use of the ATM? How much can I withdraw at once?
Hey, James. You can use our card in Honduras! At the moment, we don't yet support adding or holding HNL in your balance. However, our card supports spending in HNL. We'll automatically convert from a supported currency to HNL when you spend. You can learn more about the conversion fees here: wi.se/card-price
You get 2 free withdrawals per calendar month. From the third withdrawal, we’ll charge you the fixed fee, depending on your region. Learn more via: wi.se/withdrawalfees

Hi
I have used wise for years from the UK
But i have moved to Thailand wise are emailing all the time saying open an account in Thailand but they say i cannot transfer baht outside the country or convert to any currency what is the point in opening an account ? Am i missing something ?
Also can i get a card or virtual card in Thailand ?

You’re more than welcome to join our waitlist here: wi.se/joincardwaitlist, so you could be the first to know once we’ve landed in your country.
Do note that if you've moved to another country, you'll need to update your address on your Wise account. You'll still be able to hold balances, send and receive money in multiple currencies. However, if you're interested in THB specifically, please check here: wi.se/guidetothb

Hello. I have a physical and digital Wise card. I am travelling overseas with a friend and we have both dumped Australian Dollars onto the card to use as a shared account when in Italy and Croatia. Is it possible to set up a digital card in an iPhone wallet for my friend to use when overseas. If yes, how can this be done. Thank you.
Hi Dianne 👋 Due to security reasons, that isn't possible, and we don't recommend you to share your Wise card with anyone, as it's for personal use only.

If you have US dollar cash, can you deposit into Wise card? Or you need to transfer from your bank account to wise card account online?
Hey, Uma. At the moment, we don't yet support depositing physical cash to your Wise card.
As a workaround, you can make a bank transfer from your external bank account to your Wise account. Typically, this can be done via online banking, over the phone or in person at your bank. We explain more here: wi.se/payingbybanktransfer

I've got an account in the uk, ordered a debit card, how do I load it up to travel to Australia?
Do I need to add an amount in pounds first to the account or load up au dollars straight onto the card from my bank?
Hi Julie. Your Wise card is linked to all the balances you have in your account. Meaning, it's connected to multiple currencies that you have.
In that sense, you can deposit an amount, in a currency that's local to you (GBP) and convert it to AUD within your account: wi.se/moneyconversion This way, you'll be able to spend in AUD when you're in Australia.
But what if you don't have enough on your AUD balance? - Don't worry, our Smart Conversion technology will automatically convert the balance for you that has the lowest conversion fee (wi.se/smartconversiontech)
Quick tip when travelling: Avoid hidden fees by always choosing to be charged in the local currency.
Hope that helps 😊

Hey Wise, living in Thailand with euros on my Wise account. Can I use this card for daily purchases at supermarkets and shops in Thailand? Will regular card payment devices in shops, supermarkets work for my daily transactions? Thanks!
Hey there 👋 Thank you for your reply here.
And yes, you'll be able to use your debit card for daily purchases in Thailand, and almost anywhere around the world for that matter: wi.se/whereyoucanuseyourcard
So you'll be able to spend your Euros using our Smart Conversion technology: wi.se/smartconversiontech - but it's always recommended to spend money using the local currency, in order to avoid (possibly high) conversion fees.
To learn more about the fees when it comes to using your card, please have a look at our page here: wi.se/debitcardfees

Hi there. That's great question! It's really your preference. You can open a Japanese Yen (JPY) balance now: wi.se/open-a-balance or if you don’t have the currency you need in your account, you can still spend money while in Japan. I have activated the card and deposited aus dollars. Before I go to Europe I want to, pay for some excursions in local currency. Would I just have to convert all the balance to that currency, or am I able to choose which one. In other words, can I have several currencies at the one time on the card and if so how do I choose which one I want to use. In an internet transaction. I understand how it works once I am physically in the country.
Hi Pamela. That's a good question. You can have several currencies at one time on your card. For online transactions, as long as you've sufficient EUR in your account, we'll deduct in the same currency for your excursions in EUR.
If you don't have EUR in your Wise account, you can still spend money with the card. Our Smart Conversion technology will automatically convert the balance for you that has the lowest conversion fee. In this scenario, you can't choose which currency to convert from. Read more here: wi.se/smartconversiontech 🙂

Hey Wise Team.
Thanks for your great app. It is really powerful. ❤❤
I have a question, please.
I am based in the United States and I am planning to travel to Dubai. Also i will receive my Wise card at my US address soon.
I read your blogs and I see that I need to activate my card inside the US before traveling. Can you explain this point in details, please?
I mean, can I activate my US Wise card outside the United States (in Dubai) from my Wise app account once i get there or it is mandatory to activate my card in the United States before traveling?
Thanks in advance.
We're glad to hear that you're enjoying it so far 🙂
Wise debit cards issued in the US can only be activated while still in the US. If you leave the country without first activating the debit card, you will not be able to use it until you return and activate it.
@@Wise Hi, is that the same situation for UK-issued cards? i.e. does the card's first activation need to physically take place in the UK, it cannot be first activated via a chip/pin transaction abroad?
i’m just a little confused, when i go overseas, and want to pay for dinner in Euros, but i’m from australia, should i load aud onto the wise card and convert to euro? after that, would i just tap to pay? like does it automatically charge the balance of the country you’re in?
Hey, Scarlet 👋 Basically your Wise card is linked to your Wise account, so, as long as you have money there, you can still pay for your dinner in EUR. If you have EUR in your account, our system will take the money from that account, otherwise it will automatically convert the currency that you have there that has the lowest conversion fee. Hi Peter! Yes, the card works internationally and is accepted as any other Visa/Mastercard. If you don't have the currency converted we'll do it for you automatically: wi.se/smartconversiontech And should there be a refund it'll go straight back to your Wise balance: wi.se/debitcardfaq
Im from New Zealand and travelling to Europe next month! Before I leave to add money into my balance as Euros to go over there or NZ Dollars?
Hey, Joshua. Yes, before you start spending with our cards, you'll have to make sure you've added enough money into your balances.
You can choose to add to your NZD balance then convert to your EUR balance. Or, you can directly add to your EUR balance. However, if you make payment in NZD, we'll convert it for you before adding to your EUR balance.
Learn how to add money here: wi.se/addmoneytoyourbalances - how to convert money within balances here: wi.se/moneyconversion
Plus, when you've enough EUR in your balance when spending EUR in Europe, there won't be any transaction fees. But, in case you don't have enough, our Smart Conversion Technology will convert it from the balance with the lowest conversion fee for you. Read more here: wi.se/smartconversiontech
I’m in the UK. I’ve put euros into my account after converting from GBP. There is only euros in the account. When I click on the card online, the amount shows as GPB not euros. I know the ATM may try to do it’s own conversion and I should choose the local currency.
Hey, David! We recommend that you check your individual balances, to confirm the exact amount you hold in each currency: wi.se/borderless_
If there's sufficient amount in the selected currency (e.g. EUR), we'll debit them from the respective balance - We won't convert them from any other currencies you hold in the Wise account. Check out our guide for tips on using a foreign ATM here: wi.se/usingaforeignatm_
Hello I have order wise card in Croatia, today does wise work in supermarket.
Hey there. Generally, you can pay with your Wise card in most places where debit cards are accepted. So at the supermarket should work just fine. Just make sure you've activated the card first: wi.se/activate
I will be travelling to Cambodia which does not appear to be on your list of currencies. Will my debit card work there?
That's a great question, Jackie! As long as your card isn't issued to a US personal Wise account, you'll be able to use it in Cambodia. You can find a full list of where your card will work here 👉 wi.se/whereyoucanuseyourcard
@@Wise thank you. I am based in the U K
Yes, your card will work there just like any other Visa/Mastercard. But because we don't support their currency ourselves, we can't offer you our smart conversion:wi.se/smartconversiontech
So the conversion will happen with the rates that Visa/Mastercard has set at the time of the transaction.

Hi, can I set up a wise card account, if I'm living and working abroad in Taiwan? I see China as one of the countries listed, but not Taiwan. Thanks.
Hey, Monica 👋 You can open an account if you're in Taiwan, but note that we don't support TWD just yet. You can receive USD and EUR to your bank account there via SWIFT with us, though: wi.se/swiftpayments_. If that's all good, go ahead and create an account at wi.se/createaccount_. I can't seem to find an option to request a physical debit card in the app of my Business Wise account. It appears that the app only offers digital cards at the moment. Maybe it's a business account, which might explain the lack of physical card options.
Hey, Moussa! We do offer our physical card for business accounts as well. The Wise business card is currently available for Wise business users in the countries and regions that you can find here: wi.se/wisecardbusiness

Do I have to convert my balance from GBP to USD to be able to withdraw in the USA?
Hey, Pete. Yes, ideally, it'd be better for you to hold some USD in your card when withdrawing in the USA. If you don't have USD at the time of withdrawal, you can still withdraw money with GBP in your account, but we'll charge a conversion fee to convert it for you.
Learn more about how much it costs to withdraw cash here 👉 wi.se/withdrawalfees
@@Wise thank you for your reply! Is there a limit per day that I can withdraw via an ATM in the USA?
If you're from the UK, there isn't exactly a daily limit, but we do have a monthly withdrawal limit which for residents of the UK is 4000 GBP, that's about 5000 USD when converted. Check more about the limits here: wi.se/wisedebitcardlimits

good morning i live in the uk i am travelling to france how do i put money into the wise account ,do i put in pounds or euros ,thankyou for a great informative video
Hello, Guernsey. We explain on how to add money to your Wise account, here:wi.se/addmoneytoyourbalances
You can either add GBP or EUR. However, if you're in France, we'll convert the GBP to EUR for your purchases there 🇫🇷 We explain more about this, here: wi.se/smartconversiontech
Hi! I just opened wise. I live in the uk and got to europe a lot. When paying in europe with the card, do i first need to add money to my wise account or can i just pay straight away with the card and wise will deduct it from my uk bank? Thanks
Hi there - thanks for reaching out. In this case, you'll need to add money to your Wise account, as this is linked to your card - your account and all the currencies on it will be connected to the debit card. As long as you have enough money available in any currency in your balances, you should be able to use the card. Here's some info on how to add money to your balances: wi.se/addmoneytoyourbalances
Our card allows you to keep and spend multiple currencies - unlike cash, you don’t even need to have the money converted beforehand. Simply use the card, and we’ll convert the amount automatically for you, from any currency you hold in your balances, for a low fee: wi.se/smartconversiontech If you're holding money in EUR balance, we'll automatically use that balance.
Please feel free to reach out to us over on social media for more help. This can be on X/Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, or alternatively through this link: wi.se/contactus - we're here to help 💚

Hi. So what happens if I put £500 of phillipine pesos on my Wise card for use in the phillipines and i take £200 of pesos out of an atm and then try and spend £400 of pesos using the card as a debit card. i.e. I exceed the amount of money I added to the card initially?
Hey there. So firstly, please note that it's not quite the case that you put the money on your debit card, but rather that you top up a balance in your account with us.
And from there you'd use your debit card to spend the funds you hold in your balance with us. For more info on how to top up your balance, check out our page here: wi.se/addmoneytoyourbalances
Now, in case you'd exceed the amount of funds which you hold in your balance(s), then please note that the payment, or withdrawal for that matter wouldn't be able to process, as it's a debit card, and not a credit card. Meaning you wouldn't be able to spend more than you have.
We hope this clarifies things, but please feel free to reach out to us via PM, or DM, on Facebook, Instagram, or X, in case you have any other questions. We'd be happy to help you.

I am visiting Europe in November for a month. How can the Wise card be useful to me? In addition to paying with the credit card where accepted, how else can I use it?

Hey Wise! I’d like to ask you if I can pay with my Wise Visa Card directly like a normal visa credit card when I travel from Germany to UK? How much does the transaction fee cost? (I mean from Euro to Pound) Is it cheaper than other cards? Or I have to change enough pounds before traveling?
If you have an idea of what you're going to spend, and if you see a good exchange rate, you could convert a sum of EUR to GBP. That way, you won't see any spending fees while you're in the UK. If you're not entirely sure, and prefer to pay as you go, our conversion fees per transaction are minimal. You can learn more here: wi.se/debitcardfees 🔍
How do I convert my aussie dollar to thb? Or do it do it automatically when I get to thailand
Hey Bryan. When spending with your card, you don't necessarily need to convert into the currency in which you intend to spend in. That's because, our Smart Conversion technology will automatically convert the balance for you that has the lowest conversion fee: wi.se/smartconversiontech_
But, it's encouraged that you convert them before spending so that you're not charged a conversion fee for every transaction you make. Also, it's easier to keep track of all your expenses through a single balance. Here's how you can convert between balances: wi.se/moneyconversion
We hope this is helpful. If you have more questions, we offer support on Facebook, Instagram & Twitter too. Feel free to PM us. You can find our official channels at the bottom of our website: wi.se/wisepage
I live in Australia and plan to travel to the UK and Europe in 2 days. Is there any reason I can't transfer, for example, $1000 AUD into my wise account, and then everytime I pay in UK or Europe it will auto convert to the local currency? Are there situations where I should be converting the AUD into GPB (in the app) when doing things like withdrawing cash from an ATM or 'TapNGo'? Why are the options available to manually exchange funds if WISE does it for you? My assumption is that you only have this option due to exchange rates changing and people wanting to convert bulk money to avoid a decreasing rate?
Hi. You can certainly add AUD into your Wise account, and leave it like that - we'll convert the money for you automatically either into EUR/GBP with the live mid-market rate and lowest fee possible. But you can also add the money, and then manually convert it beforehand - it all depends on the currently live rate. If you get the desired rate, then you can convert it in bulk.
You can check the rate here: wi.se/ratetracker_, and our fees here: wi.se/ourfees_ 😊
I live in algeria
Hi,
For example i want to add 500 GBP but want to spend in EUROS only then do i convert the GBP before i travel? Many thanks.
Hi Stuart. You can convert to EUR before spending abroad. This can help you better track your spending. But even if you don’t have the currency you need in your account, you can still spend money. Our Smart Conversion technology will automatically convert the balance for you that has the lowest conversion fee: wi.se/smartconversions 😊
@@Wise Great, many thanks. Just one further question. If I convert before I travel then when using an ATM abroad which option should I select when asked if I want to convert from my local currency? Many thanks.
Of course! When you use the ATM, you'll ask to be charged in the local currency, not from yours. So, instead of selecting to convert, you'll just choose to charge EUR. We explain this further in our foreign ATM blog: wi.se/usingaforeignatm_ 😊

I have a question, i just got the Wise debit card. I lived in the United States and i’m always traveling to Egypt Cairo. I will need to withdraw in US $ only once i’m there and i have no problem with wise extra fees.
Is it possible to withdraw in US $ with my Wise debit card once, i’m in Egypt Cairo.
Please, i need a response to my question.
Thank you! Wise Team
Hi there 👋 We're glad to hear you enjoyed the video!
To answer your question it should be possible to withdraw in USD once you're in Egypt. But, this is only if the ATM allows. Keep in mind, we only allow 2 free withdrawals per month, you can learn more about this here: wi.se/atmcard. If you have any other question feel free to contact on our other social channels, phone or email: wi.se/contactus_
Hey Wise, pardon my ignorance but i'm still not sure exactly HOW this Wise card works for overseas travel. I live in Australia and i'm off to the USA and Canada in the New Year. Correct me if i'm wrong, but if I transfer say $5,000 of Australian currency into my Wise balance, then I buy a coffee with the Wise card in the USA and another coffee with my Wise card a week later when In Canada, does the card automatically take payment in the local currency by converting the respective currency from my Australian funds at that very moment? Is that the best way for me to use the Wise card? Or, should I deposit roughly $2,500 in USA dollars plus $2,500 in Canadian dollars into the Wise account...and if I do that, i'm assuming that if i buy a coffee in the USA with my Physical Wise card, it will take payment from my pre-loaded USA funds and likewise for the pre-loaded Canadian funds if I was to buy a coffee with my physical Wise card in Canada? I guess what i'm really asking here is, "should I just load the whole $5,000 in Australian funds and let the card sort out the payments on its own regardless of which country i'm in"? Or, considering i'm going to be in both Canada + the USA, is it best to pre-load funds in each of those local USD and CAD currencies and if so, will it know which of the two currencies to draw the funds from (eg. I don't want to be making a payment with my physical Wise card in Canada and have it accessing my pre-loaded US funds and charging me a conversion fee when I already had pre-loaded CAD funds available). I won't be using my digital card, and i won't have access to the Wise interface to switch in and out of accounts. I'm just going to use the Physical Wise card and in that regard, I guess i'm struggling to understand the process in which Wise processes the payment. Hence, loading the card up with $5,000 in Australian funds and letting the card sort out the payments on its own sounds like the way to go. But, hopefully, you can educate show me a better way to use the card.
Hey, Hudson. Thanks for getting in touch and for explaining your question to us. You got it fairly right 🙂 So, basically both of the scenarios you described would suit you well, and it’s completely up to you since you have the two options:
1. Just keep the money in the currency you have, and we’ll convert the money for you automatically using the real mid-market rate, which includes a small conversion fee.
2. Or, you can convert a bigger sum beforehand, if you see a desirable rate: wi.se/ratetracker, so you could pay like a local.
You can always double-check our fees upfront from here: wi.se/ourfees, as well.
For example, let's say you keep AUD in your Wise account while travelling, you'd be able to spend in the US and in Canada normally, and we would use smart conversion for every transaction: wi.se/smartconversiontech - the good thing is that we'll always use the mid-market rate, so you don't have to worry about paying high fees. Also, let's say you have more than one currency in your Wise account, our Smart Conversion technology will automatically choose the balance for you that has the lowest conversion fee.
We hope this could clear things up a bit, but if you still have questions, feel free to ask- we're here to help.

Is it free to withdraw money from atm in any country around the world or is it limited to specific countries?
Hi, William. To answer your question, you get 2 free withdrawals per calendar month. From the third withdrawal, we’ll charge you the fixed fee applicable in your region, regardless of how much money you've withdrawn that month. The fees you pay depend on where your card was issued - it’s usually the registered address on your Wise account. If you’re using a different currency, the sum will be equivalent to the currency your card was issued in.
If you withdraw cash in a currency you're not currently holding, we'll charge a conversion fee to convert it for you. We've outlined this info here: wi.se/withdrawalfees We hope this clarifies, and let us know if you have other general questions.
I have the app . How do I put money on the card for usd and yen. What is jar?

A Jar is kept separately from your balances as a way to organise your money. You won't be able to spend this money accidentally, as you’ll need to move it back to your balance first: wi.se/wisejars

If you have any questions, we're always here for you.
Hello, I currently live in Phnom Penh Cambodia, but also have a residence in the US which I travel back and forth to each year. Should I sign up for a new account registered in Cambodia or the US and can I get the debit card here? How does this work?
Hey there, Scott 👋 If you retain your status as a US resident, and you're able to provide us with a valid proof of address, you should be able to sign up to Wise with a US address. You can read how we verify your address here: wi.se/verifyyouraddress
The Wise card isn't available in Cambodia, but it's available in the United States. Keep in mind, we can't offer international delivery at this time. More here: wi.se/usdebitcard
If you have any questions, please let us know. We'll be happy to help!
I am studying in china but I am not a resident person, so. Am I reserve it in china or not?! Thank you so much
Hey. there 😊 Whether you can order a Wise card depends on where you're residing: wi.se/cardavailability. The Wise card hasn't made its way to China just yet, but our team's working hard to expand its coverage.
In the meantime, you can put it on our waitlist, and you'll be the first to know when it's available 👉 wi.se/joincardwaitlist
I’m trying to use my new Wise card on a ThreeUK Pay As You Go plan however the card will not be accepted. Any reason for this?
Hey, Christian! There could be many different reasons for your card to be denied. You'll find detailed info about it here: wi.se/declinedtransaction_ If you want, please send us a private message in another social media channel with your full name and membership number so that we can have a closer look into your case 🔎
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask, we'll be happy to help.
Hey when the business debit card will be available for usa llc owners?????
Why is this happening?
Hi Sadat 👋 This happened due to the recent operational changes in the US, but we can assure you that this is temporary, and we're working hard to make the business card available again. With that said, we don't have a timeframe, but if anything changes, we'd be sure to put out an update 🙂
