Good Morning ladies and gents. Here is part 2 of The Doomsday Machine. I'm not sure how many total parts there will be. Maybe 3 or 4. Depends on the pace of the episode and number of scenes I'm recreating. For part 2, I figured Id end it at a commercial break when they first see the machine. I always thought the planet killer was way too small. I liked how it looked beat up and clearly had battle damage, but how they beat it in the end pissed me off. Once you figure out the front is a weak spot, anyone fighting it with weapons that could dent or bend its neutronium hull, should have easily shot though the front. It was an easy out for the writer, but very disappointing to me.
Yes! And they could do it cheap. Few sets, but a tremendous story. Just sitting there for Paramount to use. Proof they’ve got no brain. Same with Balance of Terror.
His reaction when he’s recounting what happened to his crew, and then at the end when he’s in the shuttle craft, and the realization hits him about what’s about to happen to him… Amazing performance.
That ending with the Doomsday Machine in Puirsuit just PHENOMENAL. if that moment of the video at 3:16 if that shot of the Enterprise towing the Constellation was shot in the OG Episode that would've been mindblowin. That's why The Doomsday Machine is my all time favorite.
I do love seeing something from the past redone using modern techniques. Star Trek is a fairly major franchise these days and it’s hard to do anything with it and not upset fans. Watching this short video as a fan of ST I can safely say this is awesome! I love the use of CGI vs practical models because it allows you to add a level of detail that matches that of the models while giving you the flexibility to change things that aren’t possible with physical models. I’ve been watching the videos from this TH-cam channel for a while now and I’ve been impressed with them all. I’d love to see some of this on the “big screen” in some Hollywood production.
That was a great video; absolutely amazing. I can't wait for part 3. This was always one of my favorite episodes. Thank you for the video. Live long and prosper.
Enterprise is like that one sober friend, when their buddy just took on a Biker in a drunken barroom brawl, _lost badly,_ and still insists they can fight. While Enterprise is like: "No, we're going to get in the car and you're going to sleep this off." Just that little bit.. _humanizes_ the Enterprise in a unique way that non-fans just wouldn't _get._
@@OptimusWombat for sure. Wasnt he nominated or get an award for his work on this ? I forget at the moment. No complaints for the new effects. Theres some charm to the originals to pull it off with the resources they had. Similar to Godzilla. Effects got kind of cheesy but Tsuburayas miniature sets were very good. Thats all we had then as "state of the art". We carry the appreciation of what was to what is now. Godzilla Minus One wouldn't be the great work it is without everything that came before it. Watching the negative crap being given to Kirk/Shatner is nuts. If it would have been just Spock as captain, as good as he is, it may not have had the same success. Each of their roles were perfect and very special.
Nice. I love this episode. The scene where Scotty finally gets the external viewscreen working and the first thing Kirk sees is the Enterprise being pulled into the machine is to me the most unintentionally funny scene in the entire series.
Doomsday Machine still looks scary as hell even with a remastered and 2:25 at least you connected to the remaster of the series being Enterprise tractor beaming the Constellation.
Great work!! My favorite Star Trek episode of all series and of all time!! This got me hooked at age 6 in 1971 or 1972 syndication!! Well done, and thank you
Excellent!! Awesome!! Particularly loved the transporter effect when Kirk and company beam aboard the Constellation. Nice Tractor Beam and Towing sequences, too! Looks so good; HAVE to have More, please!
I like your narrative showing the Enterprise in relation to the Constellation and the Planet Killer showing where everything is and what it is doing. Also loved the POV angles you used.
2:25 The Enterprise Is Like "Uh Oh Something Is Approaching Come On Constellation We're Getting Out Here NOW" Thanks You For Showing The Enterprise Using The Tractor Beam To Tow The Constellation Nice Touch 3:15 That Shot Of The Doomsday Machine Following The Enterprise And The Constellation Is Scary But Good
Was wondering, we know Enterprise took damage but it was never shown. Not as much as Constellation but damage none the less. Any way you could show Enterprise taking damage as she’s being attacked?
Yes. The first time photon torpedoes appeared in TOS was in season one's episode "Arena" (the one where Kirk fights a Gorn). "The Doomsday Machine" was in season two.

If ever there was an episode worthy of a full length movie this is the one.
One of a few
This, along with "City on the Edge of Tommorow" are the best episodes in my mind.Although less special effects are in that episode.

As long as it ISN'T set in the Kelvin Universe.
The Doomsday Machine is one of my favorite Star Trek episodes!!! Thanks for part 2. I'm looking forward to the next video!!! 🖖
IMO the best performance by a guest star in TOS. William Windom.
Never thought about it, but you might be right!
His reaction when he’s recounting what happened to his crew, and then at the end when he’s in the shuttle craft, and the realization hits him about what’s about to happen to him…
Amazing performance.
William Marshall was none too poor of a guest star, either. The Ultimate Computer is among my top 3 favorite TOS episodes.
My dad’s all time favourite episode. We must have seen it a dozen times together. Thanks for the memories. Miss you Dad
Okay, that was scary seeing the Doomsday Machine chasing the Enterprise with the Constellation in tow.
Yes and I can accept them moving fast "AFTER" putting the Con in tow. BUT the actual locking on of the tracter been should not be that fast.

And then everybody aboard the Constellation got severe whiplash 😂
Another amazing job sir! Once you complete all parts, maybe upload a complete video of all four parts together?
Gotta say, those updated visuals are great. It's fun to imagine what Star Trek could have done visually if today's technology existed in the 1960s.
What made it though was its original creation back then. However campy, its what it was. The original machine was more menacing.
@@rushfan9thcmd I think what really made this episode stick was William Windom's performance and the plot. It was essentially Moby Dick.

You should slow down the ships maneuvers would be good. When moving them fast it seems more toy like.
They should be capable of moving that fast if they're able to traverse space in a reasonable amount of time

Severe subspace interference, but yeah, let’s go jump in the transporter!
