  • In this video, I review the 2023 Ford F-250 XL with the highly-anticipated Godzilla engine. I go in-depth on the features of the car, how it handles on the road, and whether the cheapest way to get the 7.3L V8 engine is truly the best option. If you're in the market for a new truck or just a fan of Ford vehicles, you won't want to miss this honest and thorough review. Join me behind the wheel of the Ford F-250 XL and find out if the Godzilla engine lives up to the hype!
Massive thank you to Hampton Ford for providing the vehicle.

Wasn't too sure about the transmission on my 7.3 350 either. Driving around 5-15mph it seemed to hunt a bit. However,,,, was extremely pleased after hooking a trailer to it. All those shifting issues magically disappeared. What an awesome towing machine. Lesson learned : If you want it to ride like a car, go buy a car !

For 97% of us, the F-250 with the 6.8 will do, thank you very much, and it is cheaper. I was looking into the highest payload 4x4 F-150 (tow & payload pkgs + 5.0 V8), which at around 3,300 lbs is the KIng of the 1/2 tons in payload, but by the time you spec it this way, the actual street pricing is HIGHER than the base F-250 4x4, FX4 with the 6.8. As much as I love the 5.0 V8, there is no denying that the 6.8 is better prepared for hauling, more HD work WITHOUT any kind of cylinder deactivation. The similar, older 6.2 is known to have a very long life, 300K - 500K, with proper maintenance. I am buying this for the long haul, heck the 8 foor bed makes it a great burial box! LOL

I jumped from truck to truck hunting the right truck I ended up in a 22 f250 xlt long bed 4x4 crew cab - 10speed transmission - with 7.3 GZ I have a 14 ft and a 16ft dump trailer both are heavy duty load trails with 7g floors, I’ve pulled the capacity of both trails and some 😅 and the truck doesn’t even grunt . But then cruises down the road hauling the family on vacation . Glad I finally made the move to a f250 the 7.3 is a solid choice for people who don’t want the “diesel cost or problems “ definitely holding on to this truck

Good video. I'm glad Ford give the Super Duty a proper STX package like the F150. I have 2 2022 F350s with the 7.3 so far they've been great trucks. When I first got the trucks the transmission's use to act weird but now I don't even notice it. 🙂

Not a few thousand, maybe $1000. I drove an (almost) base XLT CC FX4 then ended up buying an STX CC 6.8 FX4. The STX was a little less than $1000 more MSRP. You get the XLT base interior in the STX, LED headlights/running lights, the sport appearance package, 360 camera, etc. etc. etc. My STX had almost every piece of optional equip (running boards, power rear window, 3.73 locking diff, FX4, extra payload, work surface console, etc. etc. Interior and infotainment setup were identical. Even though the STXs are labeled XLs they're really more like a base XLT with sport appearance.

Thank you for the review on the super duty single cab that’s what I would be going for if I could do it sad to say that I work at the Kentucky Truck Plant, and I can’t afford the vehicles I build. But if I could, I would probably go with the single cab XL with a standard V8 motor and four-wheel-drive. If you haven’t already, could you do a review on the standard engine, super duty XL in either 2 Wheel Dr. or four-wheel-drive. Thank you for your reviews. You have an upbeat attitude and it’s a pleasure to learn about the different cars you present.

Really like it but the driver's seat is way too low for me in an XL and can't be adjusted. I'm 5'10". Ford does option height adjustability in XLT but can't get STX package.
I'm surprised the ride isn't as bad as others are saying.

    • @MoneyShift

If it helps Nissan Guy, I’m 6’0” but you’re right it is a little high.
The ride, for what it is, is perfectly fine. Is it a luxury experience? No. But unloaded, compared to others, it rides better and is a lot less bouncy.

@@MoneyShift I drove a 2021 Silverado Regular Cab 2500 WT 4x4 gas and this appears similar as far as ride but I need to test drive the Ford. The Chevy WT seat was too low for me also so in both cases I'll have to step up in trim - not a big deal. And like you said it's a HD truck so it's never going to ride like a car. I really like the 7.3L though.

IMO the older XL grill looks way better. The new front end has a too busy pussy like look. And yes, you get allot with the STX package BUT.....if Ford wants people to order trucks why can't I order what I want?....an XL 4x4 CC with the 7.3 gasser and carpet delete and no bling extras just a few work truck options like a plow package and upfitter switches etc. An even more work like truck at an even more work like price! The current pricing is sit on the lot unsold pricing.
