Thank you, for all the time and effort you invest helping us. I imagine, It is a lot of work to record an episode. It is a lot what you do for us. I know you do it from the heart. Been there, done that. Food logging was a perfect opportunity to lie about how much or little I was actually eating. I wanted to appear to be perfect to the group or councilor I gave it to. Epic fail! I used My Fitness Pal for over a year and ALL my time was spent on it. I have avoided for years now. I obsessed over food measuring and calorie counting and walking to get the exercise part in.
Here at home we generally have an idea what's for dinner but we're all on our own for breakfast and lunch. There are 3 of us here. My husband and my older sister. I bring in what they ask for. But, because of needing to conserve my energy I make one huge shopping day per m
With MS, I can't do more than one outing per week and that's a stretch for me because of how much my energy gets sapped and it takes days to recover. I also have Dr and other appointments to make during that one day per week. I am being measured for an electric wheelchair next week so my outings will be easier on me.
I also HATE cooking, so we do eat a lot of frozen or premade meals. At least every other day we have one of those for dinner.
I feel the same about lunch Stef. I also get nauseous when I need food (sometimes I don't feel hunger, I get nauseous) so I know I have to act quickly and have some protein. Usually, a sandwich or can of some soup or other canned food is my lunch.
I think ideas for meals quick and detailed from recovered people is a great idea.
I'm still working on what feels like enough. I think I'll try that water trick and see if it works for me. I'm starting to realize when I am hungry an hour or two later, I didn't eat enough satisfying foods earlier. I'm learning. Then when I'd had a really satisfying meal, I don't feel hungry for up to 6 hours or more. I think a snack might be important after 4 hours though. I can get a rush of excitement when I haven't felt hungry for hours and hours in a diet mentality kind of way. So that can be a restriction trigger.
Sometimes "enough" doesn't work for me when what I've eaten wasn't what I really wanted. I used to binge on stuff I didn't really want and still not be satisfied. I have to listen to what I want to be truly satisfied. I know I can eat whenever I'm hungry but sometimes the diet mentality speaks before I hear the healthy voice, and I think, oh, but I only ate two hours ago. It's too soon...(the devil on one shoulder and the angel on the other.
I always feel terrible when I've talked/typed so much. I'm not talkative person in general, but I can SO relate to all these subjects and I get excited about having other people who think and feel like I do.
I enjoyed hearing different takes on this subject. Thanks!

Short term tracking to see how food is affecting me is helpful but I don’t turn it into a religion.
