It´s definitely good looking for an estate family car - I am a BMW fan and I do like the new 3 Series Estate a lot - but this Volvo is overall more elegant. Volvo is doing a freaking great job adding to the competition in these classes.
Sirion They do, but they have also made the s60 polestar engineered with improved performance and some different parts to improve handling and the sporty feel. They announced it a few weeks ago.
I’ve got a Volvo XC70 and the shopping bag holder is brilliant! You’re supposed to lift up the horizontal elastic strap, hook the bags then lift the elastic around all the shopping together. It’s really effective
Just bought one of these, having owned BMWs for the last 18 years. Momentum Pro T4 with Pilot Assist, Winter Pack & convenience pack. CarWow saved me nearly £8,000 and I got 2.9% APR. It is a really good car, two annoying points is the LED light on the Autohold function is so dim you are never sure if it is on. And as Mat has mentioned, putting heater controls on infotainment is a pain, BMW stopped doing this 10 years ago. Also the petrol is quite thirsty and a tad gruff when revved hard. Aside from that it is brilliant in every respect. The Pilot system is amazing and makes long motorway trips a doddle and a much cheaper option than BMW's version. A BMW 320i specced the same was £4K more. Love BMWs but Volvo has clinched it for me. Definitely shortlist if you are in the market for a premium quality estate car.
@@alohasnackbar3544 Take them both for a test drive. TBH the BMW 3 series is a better driver's car - v60 has a lazy auto, which lets it down somewhat. Not sure what discounts are on offer at moment but when I bought mine, Volvo offered almost 20% off list price, and a great finance deal, which BMW couldn't match, and I wanted the semi-autonomous driving as I do long motorway stretches, which would have made the BMW much more expensive. Plus I fancied a change, Good luck.
@@jonah1660 volvo emailed me last week as it is due a service and are offering a "Polestar" software upgrade to the sluggish auto, but it is £650. Seems to me Volvo admit they have a problem with it but want to charge the earth to fix it.
1. You can lock the rear climate so your kids cant fiddle with it. 2. The Audi is Diesel makes way more noise than the Volvo and do i also have to mention Diesel gate? 3. The gear shift "lag" as you show it is very exaggerated. 4. The Dynamic setting will of course not make the car more comfortable as its the same as Dynamic mode on an Audi. I.e. "sports mode". 5. The shopping bag holder is not meant to "hang" bags on, its simply to fixate them by a pivot point so they do not roll around in the back. 6. Even a kid can open the sunroof blinds without opening the roof, so saying it took you 6 months to learn is also very exaggerated. 7. CD player is optional so its not usually in the mid glove box. 8. The "stiff" gear shifter is also exaggerated as hell. It sad to see you always compare everything to Audi when almost everything you mention in your clips are options in Audi's and would cost you several thousands of pounds more. There are also several times you've mentioned and/or compared other cars and say they miss this function or that function when in reality they have it. Also worth to mention is that all the stuff for Audi you always mention is usually options, hence why you should probably state that and say how much extra it costs.

I didn't say it was lag free, as in all automatic gearboxes there is lag, i have an Audi A4 Allroad diesel -16 and there is quite alot of lag there too. I just said it was very very exaggerated.
Not sure why you’re so offended by this review... the V60 caters to the same ppl that are looking at Audi’s, BMW 5 series and Mercedes C-class... The review is fair on all accounts.
I have the same shopping bag hook in my VW Passat trunk. The point of these is not to hold the weight of your shopping bags, as you can easily overload and break them. It's supposed to keep the content of the bag from spilling and it's perfect at doing this.
I still don't get why you ignore the voice control for most functions? You dont need a knob to change the temperature just press the button and say im cold or hot or change temp to 22.5 as an example and bingo. You dont need to touch the screen. This works on phone, sat nav, seat heaters, stereo from one button! Maybe you could demonstrate this on future volvo videos Matt
The new Volvo V60 looks stylish, more spacious compared to its predecessor, packed with cool tech e.g. Pilot Assist, and very comfortable to drive despite the steering feedback may not feel exciting.
Also, there are still many people who buy CDs and vinyls, even cassette tapes. It's a hobby for many music nerds. Those people will enjoy the player as well.
“hanging the shopping bag” keeps the open side of the bag up. It doesn’t stop the bag from moving around as you drive but it keeps its contents from falling out.
2:06 Matt, shopping bag is additionally held by the horizontal rubber band below the hooks. You should pull it back and place the bags between the devider and the rubber band, then hang the bags and it will hold them in place nicely.
Hey... Don't bash the CD player. Old folks still use their prized collection. My dear uncle wanted to get a cd changer installed in his new X5 last year and was about to spend about £500 on it and waste half his useable glovebox area..until I convinced him that I can rip those CDs and put them on a 256GB thumb drive and plug and forget the tiny thing in his centre cubby.
If you ever autoconnected your phone via bluetooth and the music auto-starts, you have no hassle. and changing the song with google/apple car is easier than taking out cds out of the box (especially while driving).
@@victorhansen839 actually the practicality isn’t an opinion. The Volvo has 100 more litres of boot space and much larger leg and head room at the rear. The Volvo is also more reliable. Volvo also has a pilot assist system which is really useful and nice to use that none of the German cars have.

Usually I like your reviews, but this one... You are so hard trying to make this car bad. But this car is magnificent! If number one thing that you like is a cloth, second is interior light (and so on), then maybe audi or bmw are better. For the rest of us, we want a car that has a great engine, is comfy and quiet, not too thirsty, have a big trunk, great seats, with great safety and for a reasonable price, Volvo v60 is just perfect!
I actually think the shopping bag hangers are well thought out. They’re not so high that the tiniest movement of the car causes them to swing. They’re supported ready for a major turn or movement, whilst the rest of the time they’re sat neatly
CDs carry higher quality track compared to mp3. That combined with a quality sound system is a nice touch on volvo's part. But sound quality will also depend on quality of soundproofing in the car.

We never had a car with heated seats growing up. My brother is now 20, and I'm 29, and whenever we do get on the back of my dad's SUV, we begin playing with the seats to annoy the other. It is really funny

In the boot, that's what the strap across the divider is for! You put the handles under the elastic and hook them up then the bags aren't going to come off
Nice vid. You’ve got things mixed up a bit tho. The 1st V60 was the departure (led by Steve Mattin) from the ”brick-design” (old V70). This one is actually more ’boxy’ - however much more stylish in my eyes, yes.

The luggage cover...very easy to find a place to store it: across the bottom of the rear seats over the car's floor as long as there is nobody in there (I am assuming the rear seats have been folded flat actually but if they haven't and if there is people on the rear seats then it can be left in place with its cover retracted... that's exactly how I do it on my V60 previous. gen and works fine). CD players: probably it would make more sense to make it an option but without hard figures about demand and production cost is difficult to judge Volvo's move

The average person rolls their eyes at that CD player. But little do they know about Bowers & Wilkins. Only audiophiles will know what I’m talking about. That’s the most high definition type of music for one of the best speaker brands in the world.

Great review. I love Volvo. Sure, Audi and BMW may be better in the twisties. But there's something the Volvo has that nobody else has on the market. And that is Thor's hammer for headlights! All Volvo needs is a more sophisticated semi-autonomous driving mode with voice-activation. Imagine it. You're at one end of the street. Your Volvo is parked at the other end. You turn on the car with your phone app. Then, to tell the car to drive to you, you must shout into the phone the same thing Thor shouts when he calls for his hammer: "Mojinir, come to me!" I think that'd be freaking brilliant.

I’d say the CD player is there for the oap’s, as they’ve always been a fan of this particular make of vehicle

Great review. I love Volvo. Sure, Audi and BMW may be better in the twisties. But there's something the Volvo has that nobody else has on the market. And that is Thor's hammer for headlights! All Volvo needs is a more sophisticated semi-autonomous driving mode with voice-activation. Imagine it. You're at one end of the street. Your Volvo is parked at the other end. You turn on the car with your phone app. Then, to tell the car to drive to you, you must shout into the phone the same thing Thor shouts when he calls for his hammer: "Mojinir, come to me!" I think that'd be freaking brilliant.
