    Thanks Claudia for bringing on these guests.
    One thing, Dr. Ania mentioned the superiority of airless pumps over dropper bottles in regards to product integrity. Michelle from Labmuffin beauty science recently did a short explaining that airless pumps aren’t really better than dropper bottles.
    Her reason being is that the spout on airless pumps is always open, and oxygen molecules can easily get inside.
    On the other hand, dropper bottles are always sealed unless you are using them. In her words “a completely air filled bottle only has enough oxygen to react with 1/3 of a ml of 15% L-ascorbic acid”.
    So if you are using a dropper bottle I wouldn’t worry. And if you have an airless pump bottle, maybe tape the hole in the spout? Hmm.
    I also don’t know if I can agree about a $500 cream working better than a less expensive one. In certain instances I can see the truth, like if the brand is doing cutting edge research and applying it to their products. But how many skincare brands out there are overpriced for no good reason? Most of them, in my opinion. Meanwhile you have insanely effective and affordable skincare from places like Japan and Korea. Only in the last 10 years has this been influencing our western markets. And how much money does say, Neutrogena have? They can afford to do the research/ studies and deliver us affordable products that work. Just my opinion.

      Great reply! My thoughts exactly 🙂
      I also follow Lab Muffin.
      But isn’t Korea a bit different in a sense that they only have handful of labs formulating products for hundreds of brands whilst in the west most brands have their own labs and chemists?

    I always use the Timeless vitamin C. Only costs around £25. I also use CereVe PM. For my skin, less is more. I also have noticed a huge improvement in my post menopausal hair by taking an inexpensive folic acid supplement each day. My GP had suggested I take it and said to avoid the hype around more expensive Folate. She said bog standard folic acid (from Boots the chemist)will boost my mood and energy levels. But as a bonus, my hair is amazingly healthy and has bounce back.
    I’ve wasted £££££’s over the years on expensive products.
    This woman is refreshingly straight and honest about products. Thank goodness.
    You’re looking super Claudia.

    • @claudiaglows
      @claudiaglows  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Hi Heather, glad to hear you found products that work well for you.
      Regarding the folic acid, there are some people who have a gene mutation (I am one of them) that have to be careful with folic acid, as they can not convert it into its active form and it can built up in their systems. Hopefully your doctor knows you well enough to know if you happen to have this gene mutation. Since the folic acid is working for you, I am assuming you do not. But for those who have this gene mutation, folate or methyl folate is a better (and as you mentioned, more expensive) form of vitamin B9
      Thank you for your very kind words and for being here

    I hate Skinceuticals. I hate Timeless. I LOVE the Platinum skincare vitamin C. Not all skin is the same. I also have found that castor oil (cold pressed, virgin, hexane free) can push product deeper. How do I know? I use Retin A every night and NEVER have dryness because I have done this for a very long time. I added Castor oil as a topper for 5 nights and began shedding like I had done a full on chemical peel. This is because it pushed the Retin A deep, deep into my skin.

The last dermatologist I went too told me to use tazarotene, the cream is called tazarene, which seems to work but I can't use for more than once the week because my skin flakes so bad. What an wonderful discussion, thank you both. The comment about fillers is so interesting, because I did read recently that it has been discovered that a certain percentage of all fillers remain in the body (in the area in which they are injected), so imagine how much there is after years of use. I'm glad I have never had them, and after learning this, I never will. I would hate to think what the effects of this will be in those people in their 20s who use them after many decades.

    The comment about peptides sitting on the skin unless there is a delivery system is very intriguing! I am now wondering about the OneSkin peptide. Their explanation for delivery is as follows: "The system we use is by emulsification which helps to mimic the structure of our outer layers of skin and allows for the peptide to penetrate into the dermis." What would Dr. Ania say about that?

    Hi, I watched a video from Claudia Glow's channel here on TH-cam a question and answer interview with Dr. Ania. At the beginning of the video, she talks about the ineffectiveness of peptides in skincare. There's no way it works, because it just stays on the surface of the skin... it would be interesting to hear what you think about it. The title of the video in question is with "how to eliminate jowls and improve the undereyes area with Dr Ania".

    • @claudiaglows
      @claudiaglows  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi,Dr Ania actually did not say that peptides do not work, but that they need a special delivery system to be driven into the skin, as they are big molecules. We actually talked about this more in an upcoming video with her so hopefully it will make more sense. But again, they do work, they just need to have a delivery system to be driven into the skin

    It was so interesting to hear about the possible inflammatory response to old filler because in 2021, I developed swollen lymphnodes in my neck and, innumerous doctors and tests later, it was decided that I'm probably having an inflammatory response to something but they just can't figure out what. I started to ponder the idea that it was a delayed reaction to HA filler so hearing this now makes me think I should dissolve the old filler that isnt benefitting me anymore but I can still feel it hanging out in certain areas.

    I also liked this interview very much. Thank you for arranging it Claudia! I have 2 questions for Dr. Ania.
    1. Dr. Ania mentioned laser treatment for the under eye area. Which exactly laser treatment can be done for someone who has hollow under eyes so that it will not melt the fat pads (what left of those)?
    2. One of the youtuber mentioned that applying a toner which contains urea and glycerin as a 1st step/layer in a skin routine will allow all other ingredients penetrate skin better. What are your thoughts on it?
    I was looking for such toner online and found 2 toners with includes both ingredients. Tone r1 contains Diglycerin and Urea. Toner 2 contains Glycerin and Hydroxyethyl Urea. Is Hydroxyethyl Urea same as Urea and Diglycerin - same as Glycerin? I googled these 2 ingredients, but as I don't have any chemical knowledge, I couldn't understand it from the description I found... I just started to educate myself about skincare. Thank you in advance!

    • @claudiaglows
      @claudiaglows  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, I am glad you enjoyed this and thank you for being here.
      I will ask Dr Ania about this next time we talk.
      As far as the toner though, I think the thought is that ingredients absorb better on moist skin instead of dry skin. So I would think any toner or even just leaving your faces slightly damp after washing would help with absorbtion.
      Urea and Glycerin however are both lovely, hydrating ingredients.
      x

    • @TSlowdive
      @TSlowdive 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@claudiaglows you are right regarding the toner, this is exactly the idea - damp skin absorbs ingredients better than dry skin. Urea and glycerin help to promote skin's hydration even if there wasn't a lot of water in the formula. That's why these 2 ingredients will help to absorb products by the skin better. Of course it's just a tiny little help. And they started as a word of mouth company no advertising. Some items dont do that much but others are acceptable. I really think these companies would go under if they didn't do anything. It clogged my pores so bad around my Nasolabial folds and mouth. It took some time to extract and they were so hard and painful.

    Hi Claudia! Great video! I know I’ve asked you this before so forgive me for bringing it up again lol, but I’m wondering why nobody ever talks about Skin Biology Dr. Loren Pickart’s Two Time Tightener and Copper Peptides. I want to especially try the TWO TIME TIGHTENER. It has DMAE. I wonder why nobody talks about DMAE. It sounds like it tightens and lifts amazingly! Have you ever heard of DMAE? Thanks Claudia 💕😊

They are just so many products and brains out there, but it is hard to talk about all of them. But I agree, I do think that Dr Pickard have some great products. As far as DMAE, I have heard about it, but personally, I have not used it. I know Penn Smith made a video about it a while ago, saying it was a really good ingredient to look for.

    So... I like your vids, Claudia and I've listened to Dr Ania before. What I really have to call into question is how easily she dismisses Exosomes. (I know it needs more research, but what if your practitioner received them on dry ice, stored in fridge and only reconstituted prior to injecting them?). It's so easy to be dismissive when our own knowledge may be limited. Same with peptides, dismissed the entire 'lot' of them for being too large of a molecule to penetrate. So GHK discovered by Dr Pickart in the 70's and years of research on coppers on skin is not worth anything? We all realize that anyone can talk on youtubes and sound like an expert. But many lay people are trying to get better educated and I think you tube 'experts' have a responsibility to acknowledge what they don't know enough about and not take a giant chunk of promising peptides off the table in one fell swoop. I think I'll keep up my deep dive into Dr Pickart's science rather than a radiologist turned Esthetics MD.

      @claudiaglows  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi Cindy, thank you for being here.
      I do not think she dismissed Exosomes, but says that they need to be stored and handled correctly and if not, the efficacy might be lacking. She did make a video on Exosomes, going much more into detail.
      As far as peptides, Dr Ania also does not dismiss peptides. She is merely saying that the molecule is too big to be absorbed without a proper delivery system. In our previous video she actually said she is a big fan of peptides, but again, they need to be formulated correctly.
      Dr Pickart has figured out how to formulate his products correctly, so have many other companies.

    I strongly question the idea that low molecular weight hyaluronic acid IS CAUSATIVE to inflammation in body tissues - simply because the body releases low molecular weight HYA in response to inflammation.
    A response to inflammation in the body is not the only function of the body's endogenous HYA. I would say it's probably a pretty minor one.(?)
    Is this study-supported data?... (that exogenous LMW HYA can cause inflammation.)
    I would like to know, because, IMO, this idea sounds like an example of a 'correlation', misinterpreted as 'causation' -
    i.e., that because the body releases LM-weight HYA in response to inflammation - that must mean that taking LM-weight HYA 'causes' inflammation.
    This would mean that all the scientific studies done on subjects ingesting LM HYA - with findings of beneficial skin responses - and no adverse side effects - are wrong?
    There are such (credible) studies, with positive findings.
    There are also (credible) health scientists recommending LMW HYA supplementation for older adults (due to loss of endogenous HYA in the body, with age.)
    Additionally, there are supplement companies adding HYLA to everything from vitamins, to green drinks, to their protein formulas.
    So...I'd really like to know where this idea is coming from - that exogenous LMW HYA is causative to inflammation in the body!

      Hi Barbara, as Dr Ania said, she is not up on the research on this and it is just something she has been wondering about. I have as well, as we are hearing more about HA fillers causing long term problems. This is very likely person dependent and there might be other underlying issues. Both of us merely said it would be interesting to explore this subject further.
      I am not familiar with any credible health scientist recommending low molecular weight HA, but would love to learn more about it.
      There is however some great research by Dr Vera Gorbunova on high molecular weight HA and it's anti inflammatory and anti cancer benefits.
      There are also some Dermatologists, such as Dr Sherene Idris, who believe that topical low molecular weight HA can lead to inflammation.
      I think at this point, we do not know for sure and we def. need to explore further and wait for future studies on this subject.

      Hi Claudia - thanks for your reply!
      Oddly, I came away with a different take on what was said in this video, re LMW HYA & inflammation- than did you, apparently.
      What stuck with me most was your comment that the body releases LMW HYA in response to inflammation.
      And your indication that it can therefore be proinflammatory in the body.
      AND, with Dr. Ania agreeing with your comment about it - with HER reply to you, i.e, 'What you said about HYA is absolutely correct."
      Those were her words. That was the exchange that really made me sit up and take notice!
      That was the segment in the interview that had me wondering...'Wait! What? LMW HYA can cause inflammation in the
      body?😮 Who knew?😒
      (Firstly, that w/n be my conclusion e.g., If HYA is released in the body in response to inflammation -how does that make it pro-inflammatory when introduced into the body exogenously?
      My logic would be just the opposite, in fact, but then I am no scientist. I would consider Dr. Ania to be a scientist (of sorts) however - and here she seemed to be agreeing with you.
      To be clear - we may be comparing apples to oranges here. My main concern is with the ingestion of LMW HYA as a health supplement for helping tissue hydration in the body.
      Whereas, the main concern with HYA in this video was as fillers injected into the skin.
      It's Dr. Brad Stanfield that I'm thinking of as the Dr. recommending HYA as a health supplement. He has a YT channel, so it is easy enough to find his channel & his content.
      He is a practicing M.D. - not a Derm (NewZealand, or possibly Australia) -?
      He often reviews Scientific studies on various 'beneficial' substances - everything from vitamin C, various minerals, Resveratrol, Hyaluronic Acid, D3/k2, NMN, Niacin, Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) Rapamycin, Creatine, Metformin, Quercetin - just about any 'healthy supplement' we all hear about...(in the Online Longevity & Healthy Lifestyle/Fitness space).
      thanks again for yiur thoughtful reply, Claudia...very much appreciated👍.
      I think this was possibly nothing more than a syntax snafu, haha😆
      (that I went on to make a mountain out of a moehill)
      🙄

    • @claudiaglows
      @claudiaglows  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Barbara, so the body does release low molecular weight in response to inflammation.
      Low molecular weight is known as a pro-inflammatory molecule
      You might want to look at these pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26978861/
      biomaterialsres.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s40824-021-00228-4
      www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9138743/
      Thank you for sharing about Dr Brad. I do know him and he actually recommends high molecular weight HA. He takes the same I do, by DoNotAge.
      I think at this point most experts agree that if we take HA, it needs to be high molecular. We can thank the naked mole rat for a lot of this research :)
      But again, we are not jumping to the conclusion that HA filler or topical low molecular weight automatically cause inflammation in the body, but it is something more people are speculating about and def. something that needs further studies.
      I hope I am making sense :)

    Hyaluronic acid was responsible for losing moisture in my skin as it draws out moisture from the atmosphere. I live in the AZ desert & it then drew moisture from my body bc of the horribly dry climate. It was a valuable lesson. I couldn't understand why my skin became even drier. I then was fortunate enough to find other professionals that its not an ideal humectant especially for me. I stay away when i see this ingredient in skincare. I mesoed exomes & was not impressed especially when i paid dearly for the exomes. My whole face blew up terribly & could barely see out of my eyes. Took tons of antihistamines & iced. I was going on a business trip a few days after & it was traumatic trying to make it go down...
