I think the casting and acting in this series is exceptional. One realizes just how good the acting is when you see the cast out of character. Such a humble group of actors. It’s so refreshing to see.

After they were gone from the show, I really missed Ubba, Ragnar, and Skorpa. Such great actors, and vivid characters.

David Dawson's slender physique contrasts the larger than life, strong character. I'm amazed by his acting; certainly deserves a best actor award. As many others, my favorite character is Uthred; love his humor, cocky attitude and how he changes through out the seasons.

David Dawson is a well seasoned Actor, he can play just about any part. I've always liked him, perfect for the part. Ian Hunt is another Great seasoned Actor, ❤️ both of them.

I never been so enthralled by a show like this on television since History Channel's show, Vikings. Last Kingdom was a brilliant true story that colorfully depicted the origin of it's Union: United Kingdom. If I had children I would make them memorize this show. Uhtred would be a house hold hero.

At first you sort of focus on Uhtred, great acting and good looks, then when you get more into the movie and focus on Alfred, it's like damn he's fine and his acting wow. The part actors play makes a big difference. I absolutely love"Peaky Blinders too,which he is in,and I never even noticed him too much because his role was low key. I had to go back and watch it ,as I've seen it too many times to count, just to look for David. Sorry David love you,you are awesome.
Rune is so funny!!! I love his personality! David is far more nervous than I thought he would be as he is such a commanding actor. And Alexander surprised me with his gentility towards the elderly gentleman who told his wartime story. What a great group of people! I love the series and especially enjoy the humour when it arises.
I’m so obsessed with Alexander’s accent so I’ve been watching interviews to understand it more, it’s all over the place, I love it!

I find it interesting how easily Alexander goes between accents. When he's being interviewed in Europe he has a European accent but when interviewed by someone with an American accent Alexander's European accent disappears and he has an American accent. When this happens I have to search deeper for Uhttred.
yea, fast forward to Season 4 interviews and he sounds completely American.

When you first see David Dawson, it’s a Wow! moment. Himself, wardrobe, makeup, directors and all else involved in transforming David into King Alfred are to be highly commended for the fantastic outcome. There are many real characters, past and present who have/are shaping this world that you don’t necessarily like their personalities, but can admire their work, their dedication and their contribution to our world. King Alfred was one such being.
King Alfred's statesman approach using God's natural law, Witan Council, fair justice, Divine Wisdom and honour appears to have been a vastly different style to that of those drunken old and unruly Danes and Norse pirates, .. King Alfred appears to have been a great example of how the civilised and gentlemanly Rule of God's Law should be. David Dawson directs and is directed to portray this in a way that could enlighten some of the audience.
All great actors! Ubba was crazy good. Kind Alfred phenomenal range. And Uhtred, so good as a mischievous character, as he plays torn well, between being a Saxon or Dane. That final scene between Alfred and Uhtred, I was mesmerized. And cried, of course. Great, great show.
All of the actors were absolutely amazing but of course my favorite is Utred, Alexander Dreymon. God bless all the actors.
Loved King Alfred as played by David Dawson. I expected the usual ginger fly-away fine hair, but the dark straight hair worked perfectly. ✊🏻✊🏻

I'm hoping to convince some of my family to watch the show, but strangely, there's been no takers yet. Did you get really involved in looking up the history? I sure did! It helps to understand what's going on in that period of time, as I didn't know very much about it before. It's all very fascinating and these actors are fantastic! I'm sure I will see it again, too 👍🏻
Watching this in 2020, it's interesting how Alexander's accent has changed so much compared to more recent interviews/podcasts.

That after watching this entire show over each Season and the proceeding Seasons, because I’m a huge Historical Fiction Fan and Bernard Cornwell is one of the very Best!
Now I cant wait for season 5 lol. International shows (I'm American, so before Netflix, hulu, and other online streaming apps and websites, I didnt get to see many international TV shows and movies) are amazing, and I'm glad I'm able to watch them. I've watched several international TV shows and most are pretty amazing. I especially like British TV shows.

Love to hear Rune Temte's Übbe's voice again; it's in my DNA to hear it. I miss it, I'll miss it next season. Good-bye, excellent Rune! I was hoping to hear David say "Wittan" again, which would definitely have made me laugh. Such a perfect Alfred.

Rune Temte in in Episode 5 is one of my all time favorite performances by any actor anywhere in anything.
One of the best series I have seen in a long time. Watched all seasons in 2 days. Alexander looks so different in this interview. Absolutely loved watching him.

I am so thrilled with this program. I believe the story line and each character is so thoroughly and accurately well developed that I am able to better understand the history of that time period. I appreciate the hard work the characters and supporting staff go through to create this amazing program. I have enjoyed other programs but never have I been so engrossed in a program that I await the next season and dont want the stories to end. I have enjoyed the interviews with the actors; they have given such insight into themselves personally and the character they each portray. I have also enjoyed the reality of the outdoor scenes making the war portrayals and the difficult living conditions of that time period so much more believable. The making of this program proves that it is possible to create programs of relevance with magnificent acting. Everyone- actors, writers, makeup, wardrobe, deserve the highest praise for producing a program that is actually worth watching on every level. Even the violence makes sense; it isnt gratuitous, that period of history was violent. Thank you for all of your hard work; it has been deeply and graciously appreciated.

This show is massively underrated. I rate it up there at joint number 1 with Game of Thrones but without the shit ending. It's so brilliantly written, with the perfect amount of humour, phenomenal battles, love, heartache and hot men and women. What more do you need in a historical show 🤗
I feel like, when I watch these interviews with the cast, that either the interviewer, or the audience, does not quite have the deep appreciation for the material that it really deserves.

We just discovered this series and have been mesmerized by it. It is so much better than GOT because of the deep layers of emotion/personal history expressed by the writers and portrayed by the actors. I agree with so many of the commenters below that Dawson's portrayal of Alfred is phenom. The many layers of complicated emotions suppressed to achieve his dream/plan of uniting England were played to perfection. Much credit to the writers too to give him that framework of dialogue to bounce his character off of. Alfred never flaunted power, he owned it, much as you'd expect someone with his type of thought processes and humility. Marvelous show! Thank you to the creators. PS - love the horses, especially the feathered ones, draftys and Friesian or Friesian crosses. Beautiful eye candy for equestrians. Fist bump to the horse wranglers!

Such insight into your characters and motivation to be apart of this fabulous film. Thank you for making history come alive. As a teacher this made me research a time unknown to me. The Vikings wanted to farm and live their culture and a King wanted to unify a people under one sovereign God and it created a clash of will. So interesting so thank you for bringing it to life.
This is an outstanding acting, just an amazing series, these guys can go very far in life if they keep going with their professional way of acting and their humble way of how they are!

just started watching this on netflix, what a great show in all aspects. The actors, writing, visuals all top notch, i love how all the characters are dynamic and have real depth not black and white over the top cookie cutter types that we get in a lot of shows.
I wish ubbe stayed on for longer - he was fierce and had a great screen presence. more so than some of the later danes.

The Last Kingdom and the story of Alfred and Uhtred was a remarkable series taken from Bernard Cornwell's The Saxon Stories...such an amazing and heartfelt show with iconic character portrayals! Fell in love with Uhtred's character and waiting for Seven Kings Must Die... can't wait to read War Lord the final book...📖

After binge watching the three series of the Last Kingdom, twice in quick succession, how strange to see these three as modern people especially Alfred and Uhtred together. How different is David and how brilliant was he Aelfred? Of course, how gorgeous is Uhtred I mean, Alex who seems relativity unaffected.

I really feel all the actor and actresses are wonderful performers and this is a most wonderful show. Uhtred is my favorite character. He shows such emotion when the King keeps more or less betraying him. But it is a well acted show by all. I have watched all 4 seasons twice.
